Problems Photoshop - Fireworks

My photoshop files (.pds) doesn't match in Fireworks: when I
try to import a photoshop file, fireworks opens only a
bitmap file, and I loose all my layers!
Can you help me? There are some preferences to set? My copy
of Fireworks (8.0.0777) is wrong? I've got a CS2 version of
Photoshop (9.02) and I export with full compatibility.
Thank you, I wait for your answers!

If you are exporting the file from Photoshop, which format
are you
exporting in?

  • Photoshop/Fireworks/Dreamweaver work flow

Hi chaps - I am a newbie and have been doing weeks of
research - I currently have CS2 but would consider CS3 if I REALLY
need to (though money is a problem at the moment). Here though, my
dilemma. I am a broadcast designer (reasonable knowledge of
Photoshop) who needs to learn how to make a web-site and I want to
do so correctly using the best tools for the job and the best
techniques. I'm learning a little html but would like to develop a
work flow that reflects my existing designer-type knowledge. I've
been working through lots of tutorials, I have bought some from a
couple of excellent companies (guess I shouldn't mention their
names) but they are excellent but even with their CS3 tuts (which
are the most up to date) they work with tables a lot ( and I've
been told to learn CSS not tables) and the Photoshop tuts say
'slice', optimize images and even create rollovers in Photoshop,
Fireworks tuts say do it all in Fireworks, Dreamweaver tuts say do
it all in DW. Can anyone help please ? I've gained a lot of great
knowledge about the 3 packages from my training but not the BEST
    way of integrating them.
Any advice welcome and I'm sorry about the length of the
    post. Regards Roger

  • How do I create full width photos for a website with Photoshop - Fireworks - Dreamweaver CS3 ?

    Greetings & Help!
I'm trying to create a full width photo layout using Photoshop or Fireworks CS3 and then end with Dreamwaver CS3 without the photo's being tall.
Exactly as the following websites - which all seem to be using the same size of photo or very close to it.
This site is static with full width photos that are not tall.
    http://www.jenniferhandyproperties.com/selling
This site is static for the most part and full width photos that are not tall
    http://www.gnvpartners.com/web/
This site is Flash with full width photos that are not tall.
    expodesigncenter
I would love to create a flash site just like expo but at this point I would settle for a static photo with the same size being the same on each page.
Also I would like my site to be a liquid layout so the photo and everything else (text, Links etc) on the page flows correctly.
    The problem...
I'm trying to use photo's from Istockphoto.com. The size of the photo's they offer are
    425 x 282 px (5.9" x 3.9")
    849 x 565 px (11.8" x 7.8")
    1698 x 1131 px (5.7" x 3.8")
I'm selecting horizontal photo's. I do not know how to match the same width, height and appearence as the websites I mentioned above.
If I choose a photo that fits the width then the length is too long. Also if I choose a large photo and have to crop it then most of the detail of the photo is lost.
I'm attempting to create a mock-up for my web in Fireworks CS3 and after search Adobe and www I came across the mock up should be 1004px which would end up being 1024 with vertical scroll bar and small margins.
I also have Photoshop & Flash CS3 but should mention (if you haven't already guess it by now) I am a rookie when it comes to creating a website.
So if you can offer a solution in "Non-Tech Terms" I would appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for your time.

In the second example, the photo is set to background with a tile. The other parts are over top of the photo and done with layers with a background color setting.

  • Gradient problem in Fireworks

    Hello.
I am having a serious problem with gradients in Fireworks.
The display of every gradient looks like there is not enough
quality so there will be visible stripes that makes it look
insufficient. E.g. a simple box made with the Rectangle tool and a
gradient preset looks like it´s a gif export with way to few
    colors.
I´ve tried three different computers and screens.
I´ve checked my program configuration. I´ve searched the
internet and I can´t find anything or anyone who seems to have
    a similar problem.
I´ve compared it to Photoshop and there it works
    perfectly.
It looks the same in Fireworks it self as it does if I try to
    export JPG - full quality.
All the three computers I´ve tried it on have CS3 on
them. The fourth one though didn´t have this "bug", and that
one had never seen CS3, instead I installed a trial of Macromedia
Fireworks 8 and there it worked perfectly. And two of the computers
I´m trying this on have previously had Fireworks 8 with no
problem at all. But since then I have formatted them and put the
    operating system on from scratch.
Enough of explanation. Has anyone been through something
similar or does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this problem
    of mine?
Every suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Image alignment problem in Fireworks/Dreamweaver

    Hello!
For my webbie, I have made a "large" image using Photoshop and brought it into Fireworks (I'm using CS4 programs btw). I sliced up the image according to the table I wanted and exported each section as .png files (it has to be png for various reasons). My image size is 600px h by 800px w.
So, I create a table in Dreamweaver and in each cell, I insert the .png files.
    Now, my problem is that
some of the cells do not align properly (in two places) and ends up shifing the entire row over so it overextends.
You can see this problem on the two screen caps that I have:
    http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af60/CrescentChi/Picture2.png
    and
    http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af60/CrescentChi/Picture1.png
Now, I know the logical thing is to check to make sure each row adds up to 800px.
I have done this already and here are the measurements for each cell:
    For row 2 I have: 341, 130, and 329.
    For row 4 I have: 166, 93, 93, 96, 93, 95, and 164.
And as you can see, these add up to 800.
I just end up with some kind of space in between my cells...
the pictures I have provided shows what the property palette shows when I click on either a cell or one of the spaces in between the cells.
Do you know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for your time of looking and help! <3

I did get it from DW.... I got it in the code view.
I did my testing one, but I'm still getting the same problem (nonetheless I'll put the code I used for it down below).
After when I hit File > New in DW I get a flow chart of options (although it goes sideways; I'm using a MAC too btw).
The best choices I get are...
Blank Page > HTML > none (this refers to layout)
Blank Template > HTML template > none
I've been using the first one. There is also a scroll option for DocType (that only appears when I use the Blank Page option). I use the default one they give me: XHTML 1.0 Transitional but there are others...
None, HTML 4.01 Transitional, HTML 4.01 Strict, XHTML 1.0 Strict, XHTML 1.1, and XHTML Mobile 1.0
Maybe something is wacky with my DW program? Honestly, I am still a bit new to this (using DW and using CSS). I'll go back to my DW book and see if what it says. I'll also try and re-install my DW program if I can find the disc....
Thanks so much for your time.

  • Link problem with Fireworks CS5 - net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

    Hi,
I'm having trouble with the hotspot links in Fireworks CS5. When I've added the links I want and click F12 to preview in Chrome, it loads the page without problems. But when I click on one of the links I get the following message:
    Webpage cannot be found
There was no webpage at the adress: file:///C:/Users/Margiiie/AppData/Local/Temp/FWTemp/LinkedPage.htm
Error 6 (net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND): Could not find file or catalogue.
(translated by me from Swedish to English, so it might not be 100% correctly translated).
A few days ago I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove some files from my computer, and I remember clicking "Remove temporary Internet Files" on all of the web browsers. This might have something to do with the problem, but I can't seem to able to recover the files I removed..
So, I really need som help here! Do you think that the removal of the temp files is the problem? What can I do about it?
    Regards,
    Margiiie

If you tried a) refreshing/reloading the page within the browser and b) emptying the contents of the FWTemp folder, and neither of those worked, then I'd take another look at the link itself. Assuming there are other links on the page you've created, compare the links within Fireworks: Are there any differences between them? Would it be possible to re-enter or re-establish the problem link's URL?
One thing I notice in your intial post is that "LinkedPage.htm" seems all by itself within the FWTemp folder, instead of being placed in a subfolder. When I generate a preview in FW, it places the contents in a folder (named with a random number), like this:
    file:///Users/doug/Library/Application%20Support/Macromedia/Fireworks%208/FWTemp/24327926/ 00000002.htm
Generally, a website observes a folder hierarchy. I'd kind of expect "LinkedPage.htm" to be in the same folder as the "index.htm" or whatever your problem page is called.
I have to admit, I don't use Fireworks to create and preview web pages, so I'm not completely versed in how it works for a full website. I'm not 100% certain that previewing an individual page should result in a functional preview of an entire site. In other words, I'm not certain that links are supposed to work if they lead to another page within the same site (assuming you're previewing one page at a time). If this remains a problem, I'd suggest letting it go for now. Try File > Export instead, and make sure you're exporting all the pages in the site. If that works, then you're in good shape.

  • Problem with Fireworks pop up menu in DW

(I already posted this on the DW forum, but it's also about
FW, so may be someone here knows about this as well.)
    Hi,
I am working on a page whose layout was created in Fireworks
and transferred to DW. After I transferred the page to DW and
created new ones from the template, I went back to edit my page in
FW. I created a couple of rollovers and pop up menus. After I made
these edits, I went back to DW and everything worked fine on the
template page, but my pop up menus did not transfer correctly to
the other pages. They appear in weird places (bottom of the page!)
and the styles pretty much disappeared as well.
Does someone know what could be the problem and how to fix
it? One of the things I noticed is that the menus' CSS file is only
completely visible on the template but not on the other pages. In
the template I can see all the styles applied in the file, but on
the other pages only the CSS title appears, not the styles applied
    to the pages.
I am using FW and DW 8.
    I need HELP!!!
Thanks for any information you can provide.
    MS

    > Does someone know what could be the problem and how to
    fix it?
The general problem is that fly-out menus created in FW or DW
    both suck.
Really bad. Inaccessible, poor usability, a pain to update,
    and bloated
    scripts.
The specific problem is that the FW menu uses layers. Meaning
    that it
specifically positions the menus on the screen relative to
    the FW file...not
your DW file, which may have moved the contents around the
    page.
Best solution? Don't use these crappy menus. Here are some
    better options:

  • Problems with Fireworks CS3 in Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Pro from Windows XP Pro. My Fireworks CS3 is having a problem. I cannot select items in the left side menu bar if I minimize or move the Fireworks CS3 window. If I have just opened the window it works, but minimize the window or move it and the toolbar stops working.
This problem is not unique to my machine. 2 other people are having the exact same problem. Here is the link to the Windows 7 forum:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/software/26957-adobe-fireworks-cs3-issue.html
We sure could use some help. This is one of my bread and butter programs.

I'm happy to hear you have other work-around alternatives!
Businesses with mission-critical software usually are very careful to research that their software will run on any proposed new system or that alternative software is available. This is the main reason that Microsoft had to continue supporting XP longer than they intended. Too much business-critical software ran on XP but did not run under Vista and would take some time before it would be upgraded to do so...if at all.
If you have "bread and butter" apps, then it was your responsibility to make sure that you could run them once you upgraded. Adobe's software worked more or less as advertised for the operating systems that were available at the time the versions were released. That's reasonable. Expecting indefinite support into the future is not.
Fireworks isn't a $2000 product. Adobe continues product development, yes. They've moved on to CS4 and its patches. You can upgrade to FW CS4 for about $150. The system requirements for FW CS4 do not include Windows 7; note that Fireworks is only certified for 32-bit operating systems:
    http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/software/fireworks4/systemreqs.html
However, there's a statement about CS4 applications (in general) working with Windows 7:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/fireworks/faq/?anonymous_element_1=4
And you'd want to get the recent updater:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/fireworks/downloads_updaters.html
    speedtigger wrote:
... It is probably not a huge problem to fix for an Adobe engineer.
If the feature worked under Vista but does not work under Windows 7, then that means that the problem probably lies somewhere in how the program communicates with the OS. The problem is not isolated to the tens - possibly hundreds - of thousands of lines of Fireworks code, but in how that code interacts with the Windows 7 APIs. To solve this problem is not the work of "an Adobe engineer." It's the work of a project team. It's the work of a project team which would have to be pulled off development of Fireworks CS5 for a few months to resurrect the old CS3 code, get familiar with it, and try to track down and solve the problem, then package up, test, and release a patch . By pulling resources off CS5 development, CS5 would be delayed or quality inversely impacted. Since CS3 is not a current product for sale, I can't see Adobe making this investment. There's no return on it, where there would be a return on getting a quality FW CS5 out the door on time.

Then she recently went to upgrade her Mac laptop to 10.9 Mavericks from 10.6 Snow Leopard, and discovered that Photoshop CS2 will no longer work since CS2 was a PowerPC application.  No problem - we thought we'd just finally install that CS5 upgrade first.  The Amazon web page where we bought the product stated that this was a valid upgrade path, so we thought we would not have a problem.  However, when we went to do the install, we received an "Inconsistency in the installer database" error.
Going to the support live chat, we were told by Yaseer that we could no longer upgrade from CS2 to CS5 because the CS2 "server" was shut down, and we should go to the forums for help with this instead.
Now what?  We own a legal copy of PS CS2, and bought a legal upgrade copy of PS CS5 with the understanding that this was a legal upgrade path, purchased from a reputable dealer (Amazon), but now it doesn't work.  There must be something that can be done here.
I'm not using my wife's Adobe id which she used to register her product, but I can provide that id as well as the serial numbers for CS2 and the CS5 upgrade.

    run the cleaner, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    restart your computer
    then try to install cs5.
if you're prompted for a cs2 serial number and your cs2 number fails, use the one linked from this page:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l

  • Problema Photoshop CC 2014 CameraRaw Nikon D4S

Buongiorno, mi sono registrato ad Adobe, ed ho scaricato Photoshop CC 2014 in versione di prova, provo ad aprire i file fatti con la mia macchina fotografica ma esce un errore.
Computer: Sistema operativo Windows 8.1Antivirus: Kaspersky Internet Security 2015Macchina Fotografica: Nikon D4SFormato File RAW: NEF.
    Errore riportato come allegato.

Interesting you should say that... I forgot to mention that I updated the graphics drivers last week which improved the heat situation- the graphics card in the laptop was cooking.  That has gotten much better with the new driver.
But last night I did move the Photoshop scratch disk config around.  I changed it from the internal C-drive to the external F-drive and things got noticeably better.  I'm not sure if that is theoretically good (I always imagined the internal drive to be much faster than the external USB3 drive) but it may be a case that the internal drive is just being asked to do too much along with Windows typical demands.
Maybe another internal disk for the laptop?  Or would that just add to the mess.  I'll keep an eye on it with task manager.  Can you recommend a decent third-party app to monitor resources?

  • Need help with an application problem - Photoshop Elements 3.0

    Hi,
I wrote to an Adobe Photoshop Elements forum, but the suggestions made there have not helped solve the problem. A friend suggested that I post about it here as there are likely many of you who use the program.
I start up PSE 3 and it begins to load. When it gets to where it says that it is "building TWAIN menu items" as soon as it says that, it closes. I have put the Photoshop Elements 3.0 Settings file into the trash, emptied the trash then restarted the program (one of the suggestions from the Adobe forum) and that didn't fix the problem. I've deleted that file and uninstalled the program, restarted the computer, then reinstalled the program - and it still closes at the same point in the startup.
I bought my Mac in Dec. 2005 and bought PSE 3 at the computer store the same day, so neither is very old.
Have any of you had this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?
    Thank you
    Pearl
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Thank you Rod That worked. Now, what do I do with the stuff I took out of that file?
What are the files actually called, Pearl?
The stuff in that folder will be a "TWAIN" driver or drivers for something that you connect to your computer to take images - a scanner or a camera, for example, (though not many cameras use TWAIN these days).
What brand and model of scanner or camera are you using?
The best solution in such situations is usually to download a new set of current drivers from the manufacturers web site, and install them fresh. Just stick the old ones in the trash once you have done this, and checked that it works.
    Cheers
    Rod
