Problems playing Purchased songs in iTunes

I have bought some tracks through iTunes. But if I want to play them I'm asked to type my password and then I'm asked to upgrade to iTunes 7. It doesn't play the songs even after I've typed my password. My current iTunes version 4.8 and I DON'T want to upgrade. I can't really believe I can't play songs I've paid for, just because Apple wants me to user a never version of their software?

I don't know if this will solve your playing problem, but iTunes 6.0.5 works very well for most people.
You can still download a copy here:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605forwindows.html
Stay off 7 if you can, I downgraded back to 6 in disgust.

Mostly because you are not using any capital letters or paragraph returns and your post is difficult to read.

  • Problems with purchased songs and iTunes 7.0.1

For some odd reason, I can't transfer purchased songs onto my ipod. They appear to be transferred, but I can't play them nor can I open them within iTunes. Is this an authorization issue? Has anyone had a similar problem?
    TIA

  • Cannot play purchased songs from itune says need to locate file

I am trying to play songs purchase from I Tunes on a authorized computer and I keep getting a message the song could not be used because the original file cannot be found.  Then a option to locate it how do I locate it ?

Did you recently move any files around on your computer. iTunes looks for the files in the original location; if they are moved this can create problems. One possibility is to right click on one of the songs with an exclamation point, and the go to "Get info." This will open a pop-up window that has several tabs.Click on "Summary." At the bottom of this screen, there is a section that says "Where:" This is the path of the original file. Check that location and see if the file is located there (probably not, or you wouldn't get the warning).
Next, I would search Windows for the particular song. Assuming that you find it somewhere, I would bet that is where the rest of the missing files now reside.

  • Problems playing purchased music on itunes!!!!

I just downloaded an entire album.
I went to play it through itunes and when there's still about three seconds of a song left, it goes right into the next song,....it just blends one into the other!! I tried setting the stopping time for each song and it won't let me! Is there something i'm missing that I can do?
If not, then what the ****!?? Did I just pay for music that I can't even control and loose three seconds of ech song??!! If so, than this is a total rip off!

    Hi Jason,
Open iTunes preferences and click on the Playback Tab. Make sure the Crossfade option is turned off and your songs should no longer fade into eachother. It you like the feature you can adjust the length of the fade.

  • Nano won't play purchased music from iTunes 6!

Is there anyone else that is having problems playing purchased music from iTunes 6 on your iPod? My 4GB iPod nano is not playing (i.e. skipping over) songs that I have purchased AFTER I upgraded to iTunes 6. My iPod software is up-to-date and I tried resetting the iPod, but neither helped. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.
    -Ben Powell

From what I've read, resetting your nano erases the music, etc. from your nano, putting the software back to its original state.
This really has to s*ck, but if it works, its good that you can fix it that way. It does, however, make a great real life case for backing up your music.
I've been using software (no I don't work for them) called e-backup for my email. I have receipts and other email from 2002! But, the point: it allows you to backup other folders/files. I included my music as an option yesterday because I remember losing term papers, etc. that I didn't backup to floppy or disk. Just in case!

  • Purchase song on iTunes from 5c phone but can't play song on phone or mac

Purchased song on ITunes and entered correct apple id.  song downloaded to iPhone 5C.  Phone then synced with MacPro laptop on OS Mavericks latest version.  This song will not play on phone or laptop.  Get Info shows correct Apple ID.  Whenever I try to play this song, get message this song is not authorized for this computer.  I sign same Apple ID with correct password and get message Computer already authorized.  When I click to play on same song again, get same message this song is not authorized for this computer.  Song will not play on phone either.  Just skips to next available song to play.

What is the exact text of the error dialog?
If I understand you correctly you are saying that you and your wife both use the same MacMini with seperate User Accounts. You each have your own iTunes Store Apple IDs. This could be a problem. One computer can only be associated with an Apple ID once every 90 days. This applies to using iTunes Match, automatic downloads and downloading past purchases. See this Apple KB article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Since you apparently had the MacMini associated to your Apple ID for iTunes Match, if your wife attempted to re-download anything from her purchase history she would have been prompted to associate the computer with her Apple ID, which it sounds like she did. At this time you must wait the 90 days before you may re-associate the MacMini with your Apple ID.

Can someone tell me how to fix a problem I have with itunes. I keep getting a message when I try and play a song on itunes that tells me I cant play the song because it cant find the file. I have never had this problem before. How do I fix it, Please.

Have you moved, renamed or deleted the original files?
Has another programme on your computer moved, renamed or deleted the files?
Have you just created this iTunes Library?
Have you recently added the missing music music from an external hard drive?
If it's none of the above, what have you been doing recently? For example, have you been "sorting" your files in your file manager?

My macbook pro is already authorized, but a purchased song from iTunes keeps stating that my computer is not authorized to play it. I enter my apple ID and password, upon which a window confirms that my computer is already authorized. Yet the song still won't play and continues to state that my computer is not authorized.

If you live in a country in which you are allowed to re-download purchased music delete the track from the library and the HDD and re-download it.

    Hi 11201019,
It sounds like you have a question about the exclamation point (!) next to some of your songs in iTunes. Here is an article that can explain what this means:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Symbols used in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12306
    Exclamation point
Next to a song: The song can’t be located; it may have been moved or deleted.
Next to a podcast: Recent episodes haven’t been downloaded because you have multiple unplayed episodes.
You will want to use the following article to help you address this issue with missing songs:
iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408
Since you mentioned that these are purchased items, you may also want to try re-downloading said purchases:

I purchase songs from Itunes and as soon as I sync my phone, the song gets deleted. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I have random songs that a have paid for but they just disappear, or cannot be downloaded and so on. Sometimes they are indexed wrongly, and can't be found because of that, no work around because also the search function of itunes has gotten totally unusable. Not much fun to be an apple user anymore. I once used to be a very loyal user. My first apple was a Macintosh SE and an image writer II.

I'm trying to play a song and itunes is repeatly asking me to authorize the account.  I have authorized the account and it will not play one particular song.  What should I do?

If just one song on an album is doing that, that suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Purchased Songs thru Itunes saved on CD disk won't upload to new computer.

Ok, I have read thru alot of the forums and have not seen anything on this problem with purchased songs.
    My problem:
Old PC completely crashed! I DID Save all my Purchased songs onto CD before it crashed!
Got new PC and had to update a new Apple account with Itunes so I could access my stuff again beacause of someone getting into my personal info.
    PROBLEM:
My songs that I purchased on my old PC that are on saved disk will not play in my Itunes.
I keep getting a message saying to "authorize" my new PC in order to get my songs to play and the problem is that the log in I use to have for those songs I purchased is no more. I have a new account and log in! I tried to authorize my new PC for the purchased songs on the disk and it does not work. I have over 200 songs saved on disk that I purchased that I can not play or upload onto my IPOD VIDEO!!! The songs will only play on in a CD Player.
    HOW:
Do I get my songs that I purchased to play on my new PC and also be able to upload them onto my Ipod Video from the disk that I saved them on???????
Thank You in Advance for your help!
    Sony Vaio   Windows XP

Hey! You are going to have to e-mail someone from Apple for help with you account. You are right about uploading the songs and having to authorized the new PC you are putting the songs top. The only way to play these songs is to authorized the computer. Have you try using the old account information to authorized this account, even if you got a new account!! If these doesn't work, will have to e-mail a tech from Apple Ipod to look into transferring your old account information to the new one. Also, if you ever have computer problem and you need to take you computer for servised make sure you always unauthorized the computer. Just in case they need to re-run the computer software or you have a C-drive problem and they need to put a new one. If you don't to this. When you try to download Itunes again in the same computer you will have the same computer authorized twice. The only way to fix this is to e-mail a Apple tech. Apple only allowed five authorized computer to play your purchase music. Always back up your music. Go into apple.com and click support. They should have option to e-mail someone or go the apple store and they will give you the phone # to whom you need to get in contact with this problem.
