Problems Posting a Gallery

I'm having problems updating a gallery. Worked fine before Leopard. Now the posting process is amazingly slow. Occasionally gives me a message at the end that publication has occurred and offers to display the gallery in the browser. That's okay for the moment, but after that it's impossible to open in a fresh Safari page. The message is that the server stopped responding. I checked my iDisk and the gallery file is there and it seems to be complete. I've tried backing out all added photos since my last successful upload and that isn't working either -- same process of a very long upload, occasional messages of successful publication but failure to actually make it to the web.
Thanks for any ideas.
Dan

I received this reply from Apple. My password is not over twenty characters and I am not trying to publish to a password protected gallery. I can publish to my idisk, but not upload to the net. I am in the middle of the network troubleshooting section listed below but my network connections all seem to be working normally at this time. I am using Airport but am not experiencing any other problems.
So still not sure what to do, but perhaps this response from the support team will help others in the same fix.
Dear Dan,
I understand that you are having difficulty publishing from Aperture to the .Mac servers. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with this issue.
I will glad to assist you with this issue.
CHANGE YOUR .MAC PASSWORD
.Mac passwords longer than 20 characters may cause publishing issues. If your .Mac password is longer than 20 characters, go to http://www.mac.com/account and log in with your .Mac member name and current password. Click Password Settings, enter your new password twice, and click Submit. Enter your new password in the .Mac System Preferences and try publishing again.
IF YOU ARE PUBLISHING A PASSWORD-PROTECTED SITE, CHANGE OR DISABLE ITS PASSWORD
As with your own .Mac password, there are some types of passwords and user names that can cause issues when used with a password-protected site. If you create a password-protected site and get error messages when publishing, disable password-protection and then republish. If you still receive error messages, make sure your site's password and user name meet the criteria described in this article:
iWeb: Password protected sites don't publish to .Mac
http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n305506
MAKE SURE YOU CAN UPLOAD TO YOUR iDISK
If you are able to publish to a folder, try copying that folder to your iDisk. To access your iDisk, go to the Finder, and from the Go menu, choose iDisk > My iDisk. After the iDisk mounts on your desktop, copy the folder from your hard disk to the Documents folder in your iDisk. If copying the folder to your iDisk is successful, you can safely delete the folder from your iDisk, as copying it was simply a test to verify that basic connectivity to your iDisk is working as expected. If you receive an error message when copying the folder to the iDisk, you are most likely experiencing a network-related issue. For assistance, see the Network Troubleshooting section below.
NETWORK TROUBLESHOOTING
Many publishing issues are due to network-specific issues. For this section of troubleshooting I recommend that you first attempt to publish a small set of pictures instead of the entire set of 234 in order to save time.
Try disabling any firewall, proxy servers, or network filtering software you may be using. (Apple can't provide specific configuration or setup information for your proxy server or firewall to allow .Mac publishing, as ports, IP addresses, and other information may change over time.)
Next, simplify your Internet connection. For example, if you connect through multiple networking devices, such as hubs and routers, try connecting your computer directly to your modem and test to see if the issue occurs. If it does not, troubleshoot your networking devices one at a time.
You might also verify your network connectivity and settings. You may wish to contact your Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance. For other information about troubleshooting network connectivity, please see the following article:
Mac OS: Troubleshooting "A connection failure has occurred,"
"The specified server could not be found," or Similar Messages
http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n106798
Another way to verify whether the issue is caused by your local network is to attempt to publish to .Mac from Aperture while connected to another network, such as one at an Apple Store. Find a store at http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist and click the link to make a reservation at the Genius Bar. There may be a fee associated with the visit.
If you can publish to .Mac in Aperture from another network successfully, then you have isolated the issue to your own network or Internet connection.
IF PUBLISHING STILL DOESN'T WORK
If you are still unable to publish to .Mac with Aperture, please respond to this message with the following information:
- A detailed description of the troubleshooting steps you have taken
- A step-by-step description of what you were trying to accomplish when the error messages occurred
- The exact text (if possible) of the error messages you received
- A description of your network, including whether it has hubs, routers, cable or DSL modems, wireless routers (including AirPort), or proxy servers
Please also answer these questions:
- Does this issue occur with other computers on your network?
- Does this issue occur when your computer is on a different network?
- When were you last able to publish to .Mac successfully?
Sincerely,
Eddie

  • Problem creating web gallery

    I ran into a problem with web gallery creation.  The problem is that LR uses the image file name, without the extension, to create the small images and the html documents.  No image renaming is done.
    Now I am trying to create a website, and conflicts occur between files generated by different cameras, and even by the same camera since because it restarted counting at 0000 several times over the years.  The resulting website is useless.
    Obviously, i could work around the issue by exporting the images, renaming them, and then re-importing.  This takes hours!!
    So please, can Adobe do some file renaming while generating a web gallery???   Hope someone listens!!!

    **Update**
    Working now. We were doing javascript:; browser pop to this page and if the Height of the window exceeded the ie6 laptop screen size the flash gallery would fail to work. When I changed the height to 690 (from 800) it worked fine. Go figure...
    Is this a known flash issue that I was out of loop on? Do we need to keep window sizes in mind?
    I have LR 1.3 and IE6 is not showing thumbnails on my flash gallery output.
    Also note that I had to remove the xml doc type (line 1) from the index file or I would get a parse error on our server (it worked fine locally and on my leopard MAMP websrv testing environment.)
    Seems to be working on all other browser/platforms but IE6 is by far the most popular for our website.

    Hey Verizon / HTC / Google  Please fix the caller ID problem, post 2.2 Froyo UPDATE.  This is a major Problem.

    I have provided some steps below that may help with the Caller Id issue you are experiencing.
    Try completing a soft reset on the device. A soft reset would be powering the device off and pulling out the battery. Once the battery is removed, place it back in and power the device back on.
    Dial *228 and send. Once dialed, listen for the recording to prompt you for option 1 and select option 1. The phone should complete its programming within a minute.
    Ensure you are using the area-code and 7 digit number format (ex. 9999951212)
    Try removing the contact and re-adding it.

  • Problem posting data with HttpsConnection

    Hi,
    I am currently having problems posting data using a HttpsConnection.
    I am setting the setRequestMethod to HttpConnection.POST and then using the openDataOutputStream method.
    I will post my code when I get home for reference.
    Background to my problem - I am trying to use the declarative security features of J2EE to authenticate a mobile user.
    I am firstly firing a HttpsConnection from the mobile device to a protected resource on the app server. I grab the JSessionId from the Set-Cookie http header of the response and post a second request to the j_security_check and provide the refer http header to the protected resource - this simulates exactly what happens on a browser (I used a Http monitor tool to confirm this). However, I need to pass the j_username and j_password as body of the https request. This doesn't seem to work because the server displays my access denied at this point - as if it hadn't received the crednetials
    However, just to confirm my technique works I subsituted the post request for a get request to j_security_check and passed the j_username and j_password as request params in the URL. This worked fine and I got a 302 response 'temporily moved' which I then handle by simply making a further request for the original resource - this time it serves back the resource because I am authenticated.
    Anyway that sets the scene - so the problem definitely appears to be posting data using an HttpsConnection.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Rgds,
    David

    Hi,
    Here is my code relating to the above problem:
    httpsConn = (HttpsConnection)Connector.open("https://127.0.0.1:8443/ebank/j_security_check");
                httpsConn.setRequestMethod(HttpConnection.POST);
                httpsConn.setRequestProperty("referer", "https://127.0.0.1:8443/ebank/main/mainMenu.xml");
                httpsConn.setRequestProperty("cookie", cookieValue);
                httpsConn.setRequestProperty("location", url);
                httpsConn.setRequestProperty("User-Agent",
                    "Profile/MIDP-1.0, Configuration/CLDC-1.0");
                httpsConn.setRequestProperty("Content-Language",
                    "en-gb");
    String credentials = "j_username=EB0001&j_password=240589";
                httpsConn.setRequestProperty("Content-Length",""+credentials.length());
                DataOutputStream os = httpsConn.openDataOutputStream();
                os.writeUTF(credentials);
    ....Thanks,
    David

  • Problem posting photos to Facebook Pages.  Help!

    Is anyone else having a problem posting photos to Facebook Pages?  I have been doing so on a daily basis for a few years now.  Yesterday, I was unable to post to a Facebook Page (not personal accounts).
    Now, when I attempt to create a Published Collection for Facebook, I no longer have the option to select an existing Facebook Page Album.
    Has something changed?  Many thanks in advance for your feedback!
    Paul,
    Midlothian,VA

    hi again.. in January it was a facebook problem.. there were no lightroom updates.. same now.. so you can go to facebook and fill in that form That Paul Diming talks about in a previous post
    I have reported this problem to Facebook using their own problem reporting mechanism.
    It would help if everyone who is having this issue should do the same.  Here is the process:
    1. Click on the pull down on the far upper right of the screen.
    2. Click "Report a Problem"
    3. Click "Something Isn't Working"
    4. Select Pages on the pull down.
    5. Explain the problem.
    6. Upload a screen image. I captured an image of trying to create a new published collection with the pull down showing no Page Albums listed.
    It might help for Facebook to know that it isn't just me having the problem.

  • Problems using lightbox gallery widget

    Hi,  I am just learning Dreamweaver and thought I would try out a widget.  I tried the lightbox gallery widget, and it mostly works, except that I get a box with a question mark on the right, under the photo when it is enlarged.  It can't find some of the included widget image icon files. Anybody know why?  It does it in live view and firefox and safari.
    I looked at the code and from what I can tell, the code references images which appear to be in the correct directory /images/lightbox/blahblah.gif.
    For example, the widget is supposed to say 'close' under the image, and that text is a .gif image apparently.
    Anyone have this trouble or know what the problem could be?
    Thanks
    Bob

    I found a fix for something similar that occurred on my machine. I too was seeing no problems locally but when I posted it to my site, it just had the placeholder and no images....
    Apparently, dreamweaver is smarter than the browser... (maybe incorrect statement) however..... the file extensions are case sensitive!
    I had this-------- <A href="Img/CGM_1.JPG" border="0"  rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]" title="CGM Pic Set"><img src="Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG" /></a>
    <a href="Img/CGM_2.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]"></a>
                      <a href="Img/CGM_3.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]"></a>
                      <a href="Img/CGM_4.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]"></a>
    Well, I didnt think anything was so bad, all of the colors were right I wasn't getting any warnings.... wtf?
    As it turns out, and this is only because I just started a new image set after testing an individual - - baby steps - - if you use the properties bar at the bottom of DW, it applies a different case for specific parts...... i.e. this is what it produced
    <A HREF="Img/CGM_1.jpg" border="0"  rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]" title="CGM Pic Set"><img src="Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg" /></a>
                      <a HREF="Img/CGM_2.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]"></a>
                      <a HREF="Img/CGM_3.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]"></a>
                      <a HREF="Img/CGM_4.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]"></a>
    Notice the HREF's are now UPPER case and the jpg's are now lower case. !!!! really?!?!?
    Also, another thing to look out for is the folder/ in front of your thumbnail; make sure it is there. In my case I use my sam "Img" folder, not the "images" folder that lightbox creates.
    Hope this helps, I beat my head against the wall for a total of 10 hours over 2 days trying to figure this out. I couldn't find anything on the internet. I'm going to post this so others having this issue get it resolved. I found those, just no resolution.

  • Can't post a gallery picture to Twitter

    I'm not able to post pictures from my Gallery to Twitter using the Twitter app. I click the photo button from the tweet composition screen, select "Gallery," select the photo I want and it switches to the Crop function and gets hung up. I can (sometimes) move the crop lines but after that nothing happens no matter what I click. Eventually it gives up and returns to the tweet composition pane.
    I am able to take a new photo and tweet that, but I can't tweet a photo that is already in my Gallery. That's the problem.

    Yes, I'm using the Twitter app. I tried unistalling and reinstalling it. That did add Twitter to the share options in Gallery, but it still doesn't work. I just keep getting a blank new tweet screen, whether I try it from Twitter or from Gallery. I tried tweeting anyway, just in case there was just a problem with displaying the photo (sometimes happens in Janetter desktop), but the photo is definitely not attached to the tweet.
    It's weird because if I start a new tweet, and choose to take a new photo for it, it works fine. The new photo shows up under the text box and gets tweeted as you would expect. It's just when I try to tweet a Gallery photo that nothing happens. Doesn't seem to matter if the photo was taken before the Twitter app was installed or after. It also doesn't seem to matter whether I enter text before or after trying to attach the photo.
    I just tried again from Gallery and got an error message: "Problems loading the friends list." Maybe that's a clue? That's the only time I've gotten any error message.

  • Performance problems post Oracle 10.2.0.5 upgrade

    Hi All,
    We have patched our SAP ECC6 system's Oracle database from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.5. (Operating system Solaris). This was done using the SAP Bundle Patch released in February 2011. (patched DEV, QA and then Production).
    Post patching production, we are now experiencing slower performance of our long running background jobs, e.g. our billing runs has increased from 2 hours to 4 hours. The slow down is constant and has not increased or decreased over a period of two weeks.
    We have so far implemented the following in production without any affect:
    We have double checked that database parameters are set correctly as per note Note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle 10g.
    We have executed with db02old the abap<->db crosscheck to check for missing indexes.
    Note 1020260 - Delivery of Oracle statistics (Oracle 10g, 11g).
    It was suggested to look at adding specific indexes on tables and changing abap code identified by looking at the most "expensive" SQL statements being executed, but these were all there pre patching and not within the critical long running processes. Although a good idea to optimise, this will not resolve the root cause of the problem introduced by the upgrade to 10.2.0.5. It was thus not implemented in production, although suggested new indexes were tested in QA without effect, then backed out.
    It was also suggested to implement SAP Note 1525673 - Optimizer merge fix for Oracle 10.2.0.5, which was not part of the SAP Bundle Patch released in February 2011 which we implemented. To do this we were required to implement the SAP Bundle Patch released in May 2011. As this also contains other Oracle fixes we did not want to implement this directly in production. We thus ran baseline tests to measure performance in our QA environment, implemented the SAP Bundle patch, and ran the same tests again (simplified version of the implementation route ).Result: No improvement in performance, in fact in some cases we had degradation of performance (double the time). As this had the potential to negatively effect production, we have not yet implemented this in production.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !

    Hello Johan,
    well the first goal should be to get the original performance so that you have time to do deeper analysis in your QA system (if the data set is the same).
    If the problem is caused by some new optimizer features or bugs you can try to "force" the optimizer to use the "old" 10.2.0.2 behaviour. Just set the parameter OPTIMIZER_FEATURES_ENABLE to 10.2.0.2 and check your performance.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams142.htm#CHDFABEF
    To get more information we need an AWR (for an overview) and the problematic SQL statements (with all the information like execution plan, statistics, etc.). This analysis are very hard through a forum. I would suggest to open a SAP SR for this issue.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Css problem in spry gallery demo, ie "doubled margin" for thumbnails

    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/gallery/
    View page in both Firefox and IE6. Note that in Internet
    Explorer (Windows), the margin on the left is double that of the
    same in Firefox. This is a well-documented IE CSS issue that occurs
    when a floated element also has margin set on the side to which it
    is floated, as in float:left; margin:5px;
    It's an issue when the margin is such that it causes wrapping
    within the thumbnails parent container... in IE browsers.
    Add display:inline to the #thumbnails div rule to correct the
    problem.
    Just FYI.

    Thanks Donna! The fix will appear in the next drop.
