Problems printing from Epson RX500 in Snow Leopard

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro. I downloaded the software update for my Epson photo RX500. Every time I try to print, I get an error message which says "/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed" Does anyone know what this means, and more importantly, how to fix it? Thanks for any ideas.

I too have an Epson Stylus Photo RX500. Also just bought the new iMac with Snow Leopard. I downloaded Apple’s driver and it was installed by the system. The printer and copying are working just fine, BUT I cannot get the software for the scan to open. It comes to the dock, bounces, then disappears. I went to the Epson web site, but didn’t see any help there. It does seem that Epson has given up supporting Apple’s new computers. That, or they are just behind times. :-D I am going to try to send them an e-mail and hope that I get an answer. Frustrating, isn’t it!!

  • Can't print from Intel Mac w/Snow Leopard to HP 2600

    Can't print from Intel Mac w/Snow Leopard to HP 2600.  Upgraded from OS 10.4 and printer showed on printer list along with an Epson scanner. but continually shows printer as offline.  I finally deleted the HP Color Laserjet 2600n from the printer list.  When I attempted to re-install it, it doesn't find the printer at all.  I haven't attempted to use the scanner.  I also went to HP and downloaded the driver, no luck.  I've restarted the computer multiple times, tried it with the printer on, and printer off, as well as pulled the usb cable in and out both ends.  No error message on the printer display and it gpes through normal warmup until it shows the green light.  I run software update and it shows no updates needed.  Help!

    When you press print the first window is pretty basic.
    When you select print on that the next window should have an advanced option.
    Click that and see if any of the options in the 3rd dropdown box allow you to specify the 'paper tray'.
    AC "
    In this new windaow, click "advanced", go to "paper type/quality" and choose " best" and a photo paper. Then you will be able to choose a paper source (photo tray).
    Once you have these settings, under presets do "save as", and you can choose the preset instead of going to advanced.
    If you have the latest software and drivers downloaded from HP, this will work.

  • Problems Printing from Epson 2400 in Lightroom 2.3

    I'm in the process of switching over from a PC to a Mac. I've gotten lightroom running and transfered all my photos over. But I'm having two big problems printing from my Epson 2400.
    *8.5x11 prints are offset. The top of the picture starts about an inch lower than it should, and the bottom typically gets cut off.
    *Lightroom refuses to print 4x6 prints. It says it's printing, and the paper feeds in, but then the printer just spits out a blank page.
    I'm using the most current version of the Epson 2400 driver that I could find on the Epson web site.
    [Update] I used iPhoto 9 to print out some pictures, and they came out fine. So this seems to be a lightroom issue or a conflict between the lightroom/epson drivers.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Further update. It appears that I can print perfectly from another account on the same mac. But the account on which my catalog resides doesn't work at all. Could my catalog have been corrupted when I transfered my photos and catalog over to the new mac from the pc? Is there any way that I can fix it? (I have tried optimize and relaunch; no luck.)
    I could -- as a last restort -- kill the catalog and reimport all my thousands of photos, but wouldn't I loose the keywords and adjustments?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Printing from Lightroom 2 with Snow Leopard OS

    I have used Lightroom 2 and printed satisfactorily with Epson Stylus Pro 4000 with Leopard OS.  I have now upgraded to  Snow Leopard, and using the latest driver for the Epson 4000, the prints come out very dark with both printer and Lightroom color management.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you for your suggestions.  I have subsequently talked to the Epson Support representative and he said to watch the current drivers for Epson since apparently there may be some Epson driver updates.  I do not know whether any will be a resolution of the problem I continually have with the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 however.  Interesting, I printed an image using CS4 today, and out of frustration, I set the mode as "automatic" under the Print Settings in the Print Box.  It came out very close to the screen rendering, and was not dark like the images printed under the Photoshop settings and the other printer driver settings.  I have never used the "automatic" before since I normally use the ICC profiles for the paper and ink from Epson.  Under Leopard, prior to converting to Snow Leopard, the Photoshop/ICC profiles did not render proper color either, and I used "ColorSync" as a custom setting under the Print Box, and it was the best of the settings.  In any event, nothing seems to fully work under the current combinations with CS4, Lightroom2, Epson, and Snow Leopard.  Unfortunately, the best settings under my former PC setup render the worst possible prints under Snow Leopard.

  • Problems printing from Epson Stylus Pro 700

    I just upgraded to CS4. Now I can't print from Adobe Indesign on my Epson Stylus Pro 7800. It will print from photoshop. I upgraded the printer driver, but that didn't help. Other applications such as Word will print. When I click on the printer monitor, it says printer ready. The print job is "stopped." When I click on resume it says "Operation could not be completed." What can I do to fix this?
    Kate

    Yes, I've contacted epson. At first the computer wouldn't recognize that the 7800 printer was attached. My 1400 printer was working. I replaced the firewire cable on the 7800, per instructions from Epson, with a USB. That fixed the first problem. Then when I was printing in Adobe, I couldn't choose a paper type. We tried downloading a driver upgrade, and running disk utility(Epson tech still). That fixed that problem. Now I can choose a paper type in the print dialogue box, but when I tell the printer to print, the dialogue box says printing stopped. If I select resume, It tells me client error, not possible. I also spent about an hour on the phone with Adobe trying to solve this problem. Epson says it's an Adobe problem, and Adobe says it's an Epson problem! Currently, I can print in photoshop and indesign, but not pdf files on either printer. On Friday, at some point, I was able to print pdfs, but not photoshop or InDesign. Unfortunately I didn't write down exactly when that was, as I didn't realize at that time, that I wouldn't be able to print pdfs later on. I appreciate any help you can give me.

  • Photoshop not printing to Epson R2400 in Snow Leopard

    Hi there
    I can print from Microsoft Word and Textpad fine. But Photoshop CS4 will not print anything to my Epson R2400. The job briefly appears in the queue, then disappears, with no error message.
    When I try and Preview from inside the Epson Print dialogue, it just shows a blank page, so I'm pretty sure it's Photoshop that's at fault, as Previewing a similar job from Microsoft Word turns out fine.
    Has anyone else had this error and found a way to fix it?

    I've the exact same problem - though I'm using Lightroom 2.4 (64 bit) and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac.
    Printing from Textpad & Pages works fine - but every print from Lightroom and Photoshop Elements just disappears (like Monkeytennis2 described).
    I've tried different drivers: the new 6.57 - and the older 6.12 (via Rosetta). The Gutenprint 5.2.3 works, but the quality is just miserable.
    This is indeed a strange thing ... and I hope someone has an idea how to fix it.
    EDIT: has anyone tried this http://forums.adobe.com/message/2215478 ... ?

  • Problem Printing in Illus CS3 on Snow Leopard

    I'm running CS3 with SL and have done all I can to try and make the Epson R1800 printer I have run with it. Are there any known issues? I've re-installed Illus, updated all the printer drivers (including the Gutenprint 5.2.4 advised to me by another forum).
    I keep getting the message "can't print the illustration. the color management settings are inconsistent", as an Illus pop up once I click print.
    Have looked at most Epson forums, done an Echat with their muppetry parade of advisors (one of which told me to install Internet Explorer for OSX :-) and the other told me to run a "Nozzle check"!!! I ask!
    Any ideas?

    Bit of a swine then all round. I have a Power RIP that I used to use but I don't think I've been using that at all for a while now, not even in 10.5
    SL is possibly being uninstalled and I might be reverting back to 10.5...
    Thanks for the input. I can't go that PDF route all the time though, just to get prints out. :-(
    Keep well.

    I recently updated? to Lion from 10.6.8(snow leopard), and things seem to be running slower.  Has anyone had similar problems?  I have Feb 2011 Macbook pro 13" 2.3 Ghz.

    As Shootist pointed out, the system uses more power.
    However, initially it will reindex the hard drive for spotlight, which will slow things down temporarily.
    It also must rebuild caches that eventually will speed things up.
    If it has completed indexing the hard drive (no dot pulsing in the spyglass), then there might be something wrong.
    Start by booting into the Recovery HD (a partition created with Lion that has Disk Utility and reinstallation options) by holding down cmd-r when you restart. You can let go when the gray screen appears.
    When it boots, select Disk Utility and Repair the drive.
    If that doesn't speed things up, try re-installing the OS from the same Recovery HD. It won't delete any of your files, but it has helped some people whose Macs ran slow after installing Lion.
    Also, how much memory do you have? Lion needs RAM so maxing your Mac out might also help.

  • I'm thinking of upgrading from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to OS X Yosemite. Does anyone know of any problems associated with this? What are the implications / consequences of installing Yosemite? Does it effect functionality of v10.6.8 software or hardware?

    I'm thinking of upgrading from v10.6.8 Snow Leopard to OS X Yosemite. I know, I'm years behind, but it has become a necessity. My Mac is becoming slow and is incompatible with many softwares and websites. Does anyone know of any problems associated with this upgrade? What are the implications and/or consequences of installing Yosemite? Does it effect functionality of v10.6.8 software or hardware? Are there any precautions I should take before the installation? I have read some posts about Macs slowing right down after installing Yosemite. Any insights and information (in layman's terms please!) would be very useful. Thanks.

    Huge thanks for your response Michel. I apologise for the delay in getting back to you. I have done as you suggested, the details are pasted below. Clearly there are some applications I need to remove and no doubt my HD could do with a 'spring clean'. My Mac 'Safe Booted' when I turned it on this morning.
    I use many different softwares, some web-based. The decision to upgrade to OSX Yosemite is because I was unable to attend a Webinar this week using GoToMeeting downloadable software. GoToMeeting have upgraded their system and my OS is no longer supported. Other websites like VImeo no longer support my version of Safari. I tend to use Chrome if Safari isn't compatible.

    I'm thinking of upgrading from v10.6.8 Snow Leopard to OS X Yosemite. However I have noticed that my MacBook Pro becoming ‘slow’ over the last 3 weeks and therefore might have some issues that need to be resolved before I even consider installing OSX Yosemite. Over the last week my Mac has Safe Booted on three occasions, so clearly there’s a ‘glitch’ occurring.

    Anyone else have a problem printing from an iMac OS-X 10.9.3 to a wireless Epson 835 Artisan printer? Sometimes it prints but must often I get "The printer is not connected" and I have to retry printing 8, 10 or 12 times before it will print? I have followed all the instructions from Epson about upgrading, etc. but it is very frustrating when I have to repeatedly try to print. Epson says talk to Apple???

    Try checking thru these, maybe some help.

  • HP 8150N Printer still not working with Snow Leopard

    I went to the Hewlett Packard page for a new driver and was told the new driver for my printer was included in the Snow Leopard update. I'm sure it is, but my computer can't find the printer. I've used advice from other discussions and tried what I could with the "Print & Fax" feature on my computer, but so far, nothing works. The printer to a network with two other computers in my office. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

    I believe this to be a "generic" statement since the support agent did not know what your problem was. I have double checked, and there are no known issues with the driver for the 8150n (at least none that engineering has been informed of and is working on).
    I fully believe the problem you are experiencing is due to the lack of AppleTalk in Snow Leopard.
    First print out the IP address of your printer by printing the configuration page. You may also be able to get this information on the front panel if you dig.
    Second, open up the print and fax control panel and click the + button to add a printer. In the add printer window that opens, select the IP button at the top, choose the protocol of HP JetDirect - Socket, and then type the IP address of the printer. If the OS automatically selects the right printer driver (and not Generic PostScript) you are good to go. Click Add Printer and happy printing.
    If it doesn't auto select the right printer then your printer probably does not have an IP address that is routable from the Mac. The easiest way to get the printer to grab a new IP address is to cold reset it. Cold Reset the printer by powering it down and then powering it back up while holding down the GO button.
    This should force the printer to grab a new IP address. Follow the above steps again to add the printer, and away you'll go.
    One drawback of this method is if you have a network that keeps changing and a DHCP server that doesn't reserve IP addresses for devices it is possible that the printer at some point in the future updates its IP address and is no longer reachable. If this happens, simply repeat the steps and you'll be all set. The other alternative is to assign a static IP address to your printer, but that takes a bit more work.
    Just trying to help.

    HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install
    Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
    I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

  • Exporting OS X Mail from Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard

    After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I partitioned my iMac HD to have two partitions: Macintosh HD has Mountain Lion; I reinstalled Snow Leopard on Macintosh HD 2. Best part: you can access your user-created files from EITHER disk partition. But not so OS X Mail. I wanted to revert to Snow Leopard, since I don't like the iOS-like Mountain Lion (swipe THIS!), but Mail was a problem since all my Snow Leopard Mail was successfully migrated over to Mountain Lion during upgrade. But I think I found a way to Export Mail from ML to (a clean install of) SL.
    Try this:
    1.  Open Mail in ML. For each folder you wish to have back in SL, Export it to your ML Desktop as an .mbox file. Depending on the folder size, this can take from a few seconds to several minutes. You'll see an .mbox icon for the particular folder on your Desktop. If the word "partial" appears between the folder name and the .mbox suffix, wait a few moments for the Export to complete, at which time the word "partial" will disappear. E.g., for a folder named "Mary", if it's a huge one, the icon will first appear as "Mary.partial.mbox"; when the Export is done, you'll see "Mary.mbox".
    2.  When you've Exported all your desired folders as above, you can exit ML and re-start your Mac in SL. Open Mail in Snow Leopard, and once again, for each file you just Exported in ML to the Desktop there, select "Import Data From Apple Mail" and choose the folder from the Desktop in ML to which your mboxes were Exported. When the Import starts, you can see via a progress bar how far along it is. When done, you'll see a new folder in your SL Mail called "Import"; click on it to reveal the folder you just Imported!
    3.  Then drag the folder you just Imported out of the Import folder to "On My Mac" in SL Mail; you can then delete the Import folder.
    4.  Repeat until all your folders are where you want them (in SL).
    5.  When you have time, go back into ML and clear all those .mbox files from your Desktop.
    There MAY be an easier way, but this is what worked for me.

    The iOS view vs classic view in Mail is not the problem; I've already configured for classic view.
    Mountain Lion itself is.
    My short list (to date) of crappy Mountain Lion behavior; items marked with a double asterisk (**)represent the worst of Mountain Lion for me.
    ** No up/down arrows in scroll bar slider;
    Expose` not as easy to navigate as in Snow Leopard;
    Mail does not request passwords for either receive or send;
    No "Save Draft" icon in Mail compose window (workaround: use command-s);
    "Save As" selection missing in most app menus;
    No separate Search window in Safari (workaround: use Firefox or Opera);
    ** Can't export Mail from Mountain Lion into Snow Leopard if downgrading (I compiled this list before I stumbled on the method in this thread, but I'd prefer to effect this with Unix symbolic links);
    iWork 09 seems to have "circled the wagons" re compatibility with MS Office or LibreOffice (workaround: just use Libreoffice);

    Could that read " . . . could not access . . ."?  If so, try repairing your backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
    If not, or if that doesn't help, see #A1 there. Use the TM Buddy widget it details to copy and post the messages here.

  • How do I upgrade from Lion back  to Snow Leopard?

    I had a Macbook Pro that after 3 trips to the shop, Apple finally replaced with a new machine.  Unfortunately the new machine came with the most suck *** operating system ever developed.  It is enough to make me think about going back to Windows.
    The first one is the annoying security feature that many users have complained about, namely that opening any type of file from the internet generates a warning.  I have tried using the terminal command with limited success but in the end I still have to give permission to open up each file and in a file with 500 photos, that is completely impractical.
    The second one involves Preview denying me permission to view files.  I have loaded numerous .jpeg photos (from my camera, that I took,) onto my computer and if I try to open them in preview, it denies me permission even though the permissions list me as being able to read and write that particular file.
    I have been to the Apple store several times with this problem and each time, they claim they either know nothing about the problem (i.e I am the only one who has encountered it) or they just shrug and say it is a Lion improvement.
    So my question is, does anyone know how to fix these problems or better yet upgrade to Snow Leopard which did not have these problems but can no longer be downloaded from the Apple Store?

    Snow Leopard never could be downloaded from the Apple Store, you will have to buy it on disc.
