  • Anyone experiencing problems with pdfs with Mountain Lion?

When I try to open pdfs downloaded from the internet via Safari to the Mountain Lion desktop I get this message:
"There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
I have encountered this problem with pdfs downloaded from several sources.
When I open pdfs received in email messages there is no probem.
    Can anyone advise please?

I had been having a similar problem on Lion with Safari pdf files despite downloading the latest Adobe Reader XI.
I would constantly get the same messages - There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired. And I would get a blank page when I tried to print the pdf if I tried printing from the Safari web page using File - Print from the top toolbar on my laptop.
Then I came across the grey Safari lozenge with action icons.
This allowed me, without downloading the pdf, to print the pdf file direct from the Safari page by using the Print icon on the grey lozenge that appears centrally three quarters down the screen.
Then I discovered that if I save the pdf using the Save icon from this same grey lozenge on the Safari page I can open and print this pdf version from my desktop.
I've tested it with a couple of different pdf files and these methods work using the grey lozenge icons but the same pdfs files don't work using File - Save As on the Tool Bar.

  • PLEASE HELP? Can no longer print PDFs after Mountain Lion update?

I have a ton of labels to print though Ebay, but I've tried everything?
I am able to print in any other file formet just fine. When I try to print PDF, it either prints VERY faded or acts like it's printing, but nothing is showing up on the page. I am so frustrated. I've been dealing with this for 2 days!
I am not tech savvy, so if there is a dumbed down way you can help me with this ASAP, I would be so grateful! Ebay buyers can be rutheless if packages are not sent quickly, so the sooner the better.

sorry!!! It is a Epson Stylus Photo PX810FW.
Have made sure all ML / Apple updates are done. Checked the Epson site and there are no updates for 10.8

  • Acrobat Printing Failure Mac Mountain Lion

Multipage PDF documents fail to print using iMac Mountain Lion (10.8) and Acrobat 11.0 . This failure is occurring on both USB and Network printers (HP Laserjets). The spooler appears to hang (Printing........). The printers begin to blink error code lights. This does not occur with Word documents. I have narrowed it down to only printing via Acrobat and via Safari (PDF). It does not occur when printing PDFs from Chrome. I have removed the printers. Re-installed printers. Cleared permissions. All multiple times. There is something clearly related to Acrobat's printing and not related to the printers or the connections. Please help.

I experimented with this a bit today and was not able to print from a couple of older G3s running OS X 10.4.11 to a printer shared on a 10.8.1 machine.  I was able to print from that G3 running OS X 10.3.x to the printer on OS X 10.8.1.
The only thing I turned up in the logs came from the OS X 10.4.11 machine where the CUPS error_log showed--

I would suggest that all that have this problem submit a report to Apple using their feedback page or via radar if you have a developer's account.

  • How do I print my iCal (Mountain Lion 10.8.5) in 5x7 format?

How do I print my iCal (Mountain Lion 10.8.5) in a 5x7 format? 5x7 is not listed as an option in the print menu.

For custom print sizes, see the software called Clickbooks: http://www.bluesquirrel.com/products/cbmac/
I would ask them if what you want is possible before purchasing.  A customer of mine got it to make many other custom formatted pages.   Don't have them anymore, but they I'm sure could tell you if it is possible.  Be sure to also indicate your printer model.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro XI problems printing PDFs created from AutoCAD.

Just installed Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and am having problems printing PDFs created from AutoCAD.  Printing other PDF created by MS Word works well.  Had a similar problem in an earlier version of Pro.  The fix I figure out then was to print the PDF file as another PDF.  Using the second PDF to print to a plotter typically worked.  It does not work for Adoabe Acrobat Pro XI.

  • Need new all-in-one printer compatible w/Mountain Lion

I upgraded my MBP to Mountain Lion a few months ago, and I'm having a printer crisis.  I have a Canon MP500 which does a very nice job printing photos, documents and copying, but the scanning feature won't work with Mountain Lion. I contacted Canon and they indicated that they would not be upgrading the drivers for that printer to support Mountain Lion.
In addition, I have an old (make that really old) HP multi-purpose device that I kept just for faxing, but that finally broke down yesterday.
So, since I have to replace the scanner and need fax capability, I would like to get one device that will do everything.  It's important that it prints photos well, but I don't have room for a large machine.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I've got an Epson NX530 that works nicely over Wireless. I've never directly connected it.
The NX are the home/consumer versions and they have some slightly more expensive home office/small business versions that use the same mechanisms.
I don't think any of the front panel buttons work (except Copy), but I can scan from Image Capture which I prefer over any of the bundled scan utilities I've ever had. I think my wife scans using the Epson software and has never asked me how to use it.
I really don't print that much, so I can't comment on the economics of ink usage.

  • Epson pro 3880 printer will not print photos with mountain lion

epson stylus pro printer will  not print photos  using mountain lion ??

The drivers that come in the box with the printer are already obsolete by the time it is placed into service. If Software update does not send you new epson drivers, check the epson web site.
Remove [-] button and re-Add [+] button the printer after the driver update.

  • Saving PDF's using Print page on Mountain Lion?

Prior to converting to Mountain Lion I could save PDF's from the Print page, now I get a message saving PDF files when printing is not supported. Unfortunately when I use File>Save and try to email it, I only get the first page in my email NOT the PDF document that I saved.

    hi
you should be able to right click with your mouse on the pdf document and it should show you a drop down menu with 'Open in...' options, Preview should be there?

  • Printer problems in adobe cs5 mountain lion

anyone have printer problems in mountain lion with adobe cs5

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It works in OS X Mountain Lion, but there are some problems > http://roaringapps.com/app:4956
If you want more information, you can have a look at the Adobe website, where you will find more information about possible problems in Mountain Lion.
New computers come with OS X Mountain Lion, so this is the Mac OS X version you will have. Some users would recommend you to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on a virtual machine, but you will be wasting hard disk space and performance while its virtual machine is running

  • Reading PDFs in Mountain Lion

Since I updated to Lion and Mountain Lion I can no longer read PDFs from the web in Safari.  I have to download them and open them in Acrobat.  Any solutions?

I've been having this same problem with saving pdf files File - Save As from the top Toolbar on my laptop.
I would constantly get messages - There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.
But at last I have managed to find a simple way around it.
Firstly, without downloading the pdf, I printed the pdf file direct from the Safari page by using the Print icon on the grey lozenge that appears centrally three quarters down the screen.

  • Audio Problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion

Has anyone encountered audio problems with their iMac?  I just upgraded to Mountain Lion on my i7 27" with 16GB of Ram and found that the Audio starts to get distorted and eventually cuts out after about an hour!  It starts cutting in and out when I move the mouse and eventually there will be no sound at all!
Sometimes it can take over an hour of steady use, my last time was watching a movie on Netflix.  I initially noticed this using a USB DAC Headphone Amp.
I never had any Audio problems before, my machine is over 1 year old.
I enjoy watching movies in iTunes and DVDs, but this is making it difficult!  A full restart usually fixes the problem for a time but it will eventually come back
I'm seriously thinking of going back to Lion for the time being and seeing if it is a Hardware problem.

i don't know if mine is the same issue, but i had no sound through any of my applications after upgrading to mountain lion.  here is what i had to do to fix it:
-- applications > utilities > audio midi setup > UNmute all options under "built-in output" (they were mysteriously muted)
Also, I noticed that the options for "use this device for sound output" and "play alerts & sound effects through this device" were no longer assigned to my Built-in Output device.  They were assigned to some other random sound driver.  To fix, i right-clicked on Built-in Output and reassigned those items to my built in speakers.  All fixed now!
    very weird problem, though.

  • Problem printing PDF in B&W with Safari?

Hi, here is my printing challenge:  when I download PDF from Safari (now on Mountain Lion) and I try to print it black and white it keeps printing in color.
To print I am using the "new" translucent save and print menu that appears at the bottom of the page of the pdf.
I looked into the set up in the menu printer options and set it many times to to B&W but it still keep printing in color.
I am using an HP laser printer.  Anyone has ideas how to solve this?  Thanks.

    Matthaus,
Welcome to the forums! As D said in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9165237#9165237
"You can print in grayscale from an HP print dialog box. I don't have the same printer but the options should be similar. Click the Triangle beside the Printer dropdown menu (if the printer options are not showing.) This should expand the dialog. There should be a dropdown that says Firefox, click it and select Paper Type/Quality. The first tab should be Paper. Select the dropdown for Color and select Grayscale.
If the above isn't the same as yours, there still should be the preference somewhere in the Printer Options. Hopefully, that will work for you.
    D. "
Or You could always: Go to print like you normally would but instead of hitting print click on the (PDF) button near the bottom. From the list it show select (Save as PDF...). Now I would save it to the desktop for easier finding. From there open it in (Preview) and do a quick (Save As). In the little window that opens you will see a (Quartz Filter:) select (Gray Tone) from the drop down list. Click save and then print the gray toned PDF you just made.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston
