Problems printing wirelessly to Brother MFC440CN

Please help. I have setup my network with Airport Express, with settings of:
IP address: 10.0.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 10.0.1.1
DNS: 10.0.1.1
"Using DHCP" with DHCP=10.0.1.1
printer settings of:
IP address: 10.0.1.201
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router/Default Gateway: 10.0.1.1
DNS: 10.0.1.1
What should all of the correct settings be so that I can print wirelessly??? Thanks for any help.

I never had wireless printing problem with my HP 2610 when I was using 10.3.x and 10.4.x (before 10.4.5) until I couldn't cope with a silly memory problem (aka, large file printing like PS files...) It simply froze or worse, stopped mid way and wasted countless photo papers (expensive!!!!) Then I just turned back and use the USB connection.
It worked like a dream until now.... which I just upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.1 and yesterday to 10.5.2. It become more of a let down, probably by the OS itself. There isn't a problem printing (though haven't tried wirelessly yet) but the print dialogue takes about 20 seconds to come out... which can be frustrating. So, don't upgrade to Leapord yet if you can wait until the problem is resolved.
Try downloading a new HP driver too and do a clean install for the driver... just in case.
I can't help but to share my storey here.

Hi.
I have a problem printing to my mfc-j835dw brother printer. I did not experience this issue until our broadband provider changed our modem/router to [echolife hg521] since it was crashed. I am not sure if there is a need to check for the settings of the printer or the modem/router itself. I tried to use my mobile hotspot and connect my printer to it and luckily i could print wirelessly.
Any ideas regarding this issue?

Verify the router is on the latest firmware. If not, upgrade it.
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
- Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
- Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 1...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
You should use WPA2-AES and reset your TV and all your other wireless devices as it will ask for a new password/paraphrase.
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

Problem printing wirelessly with MX430 series

Hi there
I got a new laptop and cannot set up to print wirelessly on my MX430 series printer. I can print via the usb cable. I am using Windows 7. I have been to your website and dowloaded all the drivers once more - per suggestions in your forum for others having a similar problem. I don't seem to have the port that starts CNBJNP that you have referenced in similar type queries I have seen on your forum and cannot find it. Help?

Mountain lion printing wirelessly to brother 2270dw?

Anyone know the steps to get Mountain Lion to print wirelessly to a Brother 2270dw - which happens to be the best-selling printer on Amazon?
From Snow Leopard, wireless printing to the 2270dw was flaky, but I always managed to fix it. Now that Mountain Lion has disabled WPS, the "PIN method" and a couple other methods no longer work.

AirPlay Mirroriong requires an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 Unfortunately, your Mac is not supported.
You can still mirror your Mac's display onto your Apple TV. Instead of AirPlay Mirroring, you can use an application like AirParrot or Beamer to do that

Problems printing wirelessly with A_Extreme and Canon pixma i4000

Have had a Airport Express network setup with 2 Macs and 2 PCs sharing the printer wirelessly without problem for 2 years. Replaced the AP with an Extreme base station and now the printer is no longer detectable, although everything else is working well ( x one of the PCs can't detect the USB drive. )

Some people have found that the USB 2 port is too fast for some printers.
You can try placing a USB 1 hub in between the printer and the AEBSn.

I've had an Canon iP5000 printer linked up to my AirPort Express for remote printing. It has never worked reliably: on long complex jobs it would just stop printing in the middle of a page. Well, now some early testing of a possible fix has allowed me to print long, complex jobs without the printer stopping in the middle. I'm happy, and will test the solution more over the next few weeks. Although not yet thoroughly tested, I thought I'd share my solution now, given how well it seems to be working. I set up the firewall installed in Mac OS X to limit the bandwidth of the connection to the AirPort, so that print jobs go more slowly to the printer.

Problems Printing Wirelessly

Based on all the posts I see there are obviously lots of printer issues with Leopard. I have an Epson RX580 which is attached to an Airport Express for printing. After installing Leopard I've not been able to print properly. When I use the Epson printer driver, the page will start printing and then freezes after a couple of lines. If I change the driver to the Gimp print version then it will print...but the quality is terrible. Looks like it prints in draft mode only. I've gone back and tried re-installing the old Epson drivers, rebooting, and no luck. I tried resetting the print system... no luck.
The one saving grace is that when I hook the printer up directly to my computer via USB it will print fine. Kind of a pain since I purchased the Airport Express to be tucked away in a closet out of sight.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this so I can print wirelessly again? Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated!

There were issues with Tiger upon release and here in the discussions board most of us were able to rectify any conflicts or find missing links. I use a Lexmark Postrio X 75, the driver was not recognized in Tiger but I was here advised to use a "gimp" printer and that worked fine.
Now the problem is that very few printers are recognized in Leopard and we are treated as if we've done wrong, all any of us did was pay between $107 and $129 US for an elaborate set of displays that refuse to allow us to print.
I can scan and copy to my desktop. I can run print alignment and color adjustment, but nothing of actual printing with my Lexmark X 75. The nice man across the ocean on the phone said that those old drivers won't work on Leopard, that they are old, like 2002 is OLD? I was treated like there was something wrong with me for using their product. Maybe there is. Seems that way.
So, here in the realm of a lot of MAC addicts and programmers there must be someone who has figured out how to hot wire some of these drivers that Leopard will not recognize.
Tiger did recognize, so why kill the good system for this?
Question: Has anyone found a fix and if so will you please post it?

Problem Printing Wirelessly from MacBook to Epson Stylus NX530

I have been using an Epson Stylus NX530 wireless printer for 8 months or so without issue. However, over the last couple of weeks, I can't print as usual. I can print things from my iPhone, but nothing from my MacBook. When I go to the printer queue for the print job, it says there is a connection error. I used to be able to check the ink levels, but now it says that "information unavailable".
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer in the system preferences, including "printer reset" (control + click printer list) multiple times to no avail. I have tried checking network connections on the printer and everything seems to work (hence, the abilitiy to print from my iPhone). I have gone to Safari and tried to connect via bonjour (it "sees" the printer, but is unable to connect).
I've even tried to use the network utility program (using a Time Capsule as my router) to ping the printer, but was unsuccessful. I have a felling that there is some type of network issue. I am not a network person, so I'm a little apprehensive of messing around with any settings.
Please help! My wife is a teacher and really needs to get our printer running again.

Well, after the Apple Store genius said the time capsule works fine in the store (of course), I got an Airport Express "just in case". After have same issues with the TC when I got home, I installed the AE as the main wifi router which has reestablished the lost internet and wireless printing to ALL devices/computers (yeah!).
I'm now trying to hookup the Time Capsule to the AE to be able to use our Time Machine backups again.
I have configured the connection as follows: wall > modem > IN: WAN connection on Airport Extreme > OUT: LAN connection on Airport Extreme > IN: "To Internet" conncetion on Ooma (VOIP phone box) > OUT: "Home Network" on Ooma > IN: WAN connection on Time Capsule.
All devices have solid green "all is good" lights on. Wi-fi internet is working on all 3 MacBooks, 2 iPhones and 1 iPad. All 6 can print wirelessly again.
Any tips for configuring the TC to access the TM backups I have already?

Problem printing wirelessly.

I have a Photosmart C4500 and I'm using Mac OSX 10.5.8. When I remove the USB cable and try to print, I get the error message "Network host 169.254.189.211 is busy, will retry in 20 seconds". I installed a new Modem/Router combo- Netgear and tried to reconfigure the printer to work with the new Router but it won't work wirelessly. What do I need to do to get my printer to print wirelessly?

From that IP it doesn't look like the Mac sees the printer. Most likely that's because the Mac is looking for an invalid IP address. The IP address your Mac is looking for is a Windows reserved IP. It's the address the printer broadcasts by default when it's not able to connect to a network. I should be able to help you figure this out. Which of the C4500 series printers are you using?

Without your printer model numbers, readers can only give you vague general directions.
System Preferences > Print&Fax > ...
... shows a list of all set-up printers.
If you are having serious problems, it makes sense to "Reset the Printing System" (which also removes all printer set-ups) and add back each printer. It only takes a few minutes.

I just bought this printer. Setup when perfect, my Mac sees it and when I print, it starts fine, until... it looses contact.
I re-installed everything twice, and I even got the latest installer from HP's web site.
ePrint works fine, so I know docs make their way to the printer.
The router is a Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router, model WRT160Nv2, with firmware v2.0.02

Problems printing wirelessly with Canon PIXMA iP4500

I have a MacBook Pro 15 in 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo with 4 Gb RAM and I’m running Mac OSX 10.5.7.
1. My Canon PIXMA iP4500 inkjet printer used to work perfectly as a printer attached to the USB port of my Airport Extreme Model A1034 modem, when my computer communicates with the modem either wirelessly or via an ethernet connection between the computer and Airport, but lately it isn’t working.
2. When I try to print the printer icon shows up in the dock and when I click on it a Canon iP4500 series printer dialog box pops up and says the Printer is Ready but the status of the document is “Stopped”.
3. If I click on “Resume” and error message appears: “Operation could not be completed. client-error-not-possible”. This happen repeatedly.
4. I recycled the modem, turned the printer off and on (and did those things in reverse) and ran Airport Utility, all to no avail. I also deleted the printers in my Print & Fax System Preferences dialog box, downloaded the latest CUPS driver from Canon (ver 10.1.0.0), and recreated the printer (called Canon iP4500 Series).
5. Network diagnostics says it can connect to the internet over either my airport or Ethernet connection but it cannot connect to the Canon iP4500 series.riousbprint.tcp.local.
6. Also when I run the Canon IJ Printer Utility from the Canon iP4500 series printer dialog box a Printer List dialog box shows up with no USB-attached printers listed
7. I can print if I connect the printer directly to my MacBook Pro, so I don’t think it’s a driver or USB cable problem. Curiously, when I connect the printer directly to the computer the Print & Fax dialog box automatically creates a second printer called Canon iP4500 series-1. If I use the original Canon iP4500 Series printer in this setup it says “No pages found”.
Basically I’m stumped at this point and would appreciate some help. Unfortunately, I’m on a 3-mo sabbatical and do not have my original Canon printer software with me so I cannot reinstall the printer app unless someone knows how I can obtain it. Similarly I cannot reinstall Leopard either, though it doesn’t seem likely I should need to. Happy to try anything else though.

Hello Basil and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Reading your post, it would suggest there is a problem with the USB of the Airport Extreme, but I don't believe this to be case as there is not much that could go wrong with them. Instead I think there is something not right with the transport (TCP) protocols that get the data from your Mac to the Airport USB.
At this stage, I suggest you look at installing version 5.23 of the Gutenprint driver. This version supports your iP4500 and will help to narrow the cause of the current symptom.
Before installing the Gutenprint driver, I suggest we trash all the current Canon drivers you have installed - we can add them again later if need be.
Open Finder and navigate to Mac HD/Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter. Trash all the contents of this folder and empty the trash.
Next, navigate to the Mac HD/Library/Receipts folder. You will see the Canon iP4500 xxx.pkg and another one for the CUPS driver you installed. Trash both of these and empty also.
Now open System Preferences > Print & Fax and delete all the Canon printers in the list (highlight and hit ' - '). It would also be handy to reset the printing system, so while in Print & Fax, move your mouse over the now empty printers list, hold down your Control key and click (or right-click if you can). Click on Reset printing system when it appears.
Now install the Gutenprint drivers. When this is done, restart your Mac and try adding the iP4500 again. This time, after you select the Airport shared printer, you will have to open Print Using and search for the 'Canon iP4500 - Gutenprint v5.2.3'. Select this and now try printing. Let me now the result.

Problems printing wirelessly via airport express using pc

Hey all, tried to reply to a post that had evaluated this issue but for some reason would not let me. I have an airport express hooked up to a brother 5140. My Mac prints fine. My Windows XP box however does not. I have setup bonjour for Windows and it recognizes the brother 5140 and installed all good. However when I try to print it errors out. Any help is appreciated.

using a linksys wrt610n by the way think a setting with my router may be the issue but not sure.

Cannot print wirelessly w iBook G3, D-Link router, Brother wireless printer

I am having problems printing wirelessly from an iBook G3.
The printer is a Brother HL-2170W printer. It is a wireless printer, designed to print wirelessly with 802.11 b/g interface.
My network is simple: Two Macs, a G4 Quicksilver and a G3 iBook 700, both connected via a 802.11b router (D-Link DI-614+). The Quicksilver is connected to the router via wired; the iBook is connected wirelessly via an original Airport card. I run OS 10.2.8 on both Macs.
The printer prints fine to the G4 Quicksilver either when connected directly to the Quicksilver or when connected to the Quicksilver via the wireless router's Ethernet port.
I can "force" it to print to the iBook by enabling print sharing on the Quicksilver, but the Quicksilver has to be awake continuously for this to work, and it is a pain. The problem appears to be how to configure Rendezvous printing to work with the iBook.
Can anyone please help? This is the second time I have requested help for this issue. Thank you.

Does the older OS X version in use support bonjour (aka rendezvous)
and was this hoped-for configuration working together wirelessly?
The printer's drivers may prefer a newer OS X version, too.
Does the printer's software give you a fairly good control panel or
printer utility access in your Mac OS X system? You may be able
to configure some aspects of the printer's wireless function... Or
you may need to install software in the computer that won't see
the printer as a wireless item. This is sometimes a gray area.
Newer drivers may address some concerns, but also may only
be available for newer OS X versions; so 10.2 may lack support.

I know the AirPort express and AirPort extreme models (earlier than
the current 802.11/n+g series) would work well with iBook G3 and
both Jaguar and Panther, to USB print over a local wi-fi network.

Deskjet 3050 j610a - New router; no longer can print wireless.

Hi all. Am 66 & new to computers and forums. I'll try to be brief, but I want to describe my problem as accurately as possible. I have a Toshiba C655 Satellite laptop, HP3050 j610a wireless printer, Windows 7 – 32bit OS and Google Chrome is my browser. For the past 2 years I've had no problem printing wireless with my Westell 7500 router. Then my ISP (Verizon) gave me a D-Link 2750B. My laptop connects with the internet over my wireless network fine now, but printing is only possible via USB.
The error message reads: “Your printer failed to join the wireless network – Mac address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router”. (I checked & it is not). I then printed a Wireless Network Test Report and the header reads: “Your HP printer cannot find your access point. Check that your access point is powered on. Check that your HP printer network name (SSID) matches your access point network name (SSID) exactly. If they don't match exactly, run the wireless network setup to configure your HP printer”. In addition, under Diagnostics Summary it reads: “Network Name (SSID) Found = FAIL”.
What I've attempted so far: Uninstall & reinstall all HP software (Via hp website), power cycle router & printer, hard reset printer to factory settings, looked inside router & all seems OK. I did a Google search of this problem and got more confusing and complicated explanations than I was looking for...all the way down to subnet masks; whatever that is. I'm at the point now (and please correct me if I'm on the wrong path) I feel I should be trying to manually put the network info into the printer or obtain a printer IP; neither of which I know how to do. Is there a way to look inside my printer settings the same as I look inside my router settings...and how?
I feel this has gotten way more complicated than necessary and I am probably overlooking the obvious here. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, but please reply to me as if I were in the 3rd grade ! (Although a 3rd grader would probably have figured this out already) !

OK,PrintDoc, I followed your instructions to the letter....although I had gone there many times before. If you want, I can list each and every step, but to summarize: Message says, 'software installed successfully", I allowed Network Setup to retrieve my wireless settings (by the way my security is WPA2[AES] ) then the green 'loading' bar for 'setting up printer on network'.
THIS is the where I get to the point at which I get the error message: "Your printer failed to join the wireless network". (Tried both letting the program retrieve the settings, as well as entering them manually).
I did, however, notice one thing different this time: Where the icon of my laptop showed under devices, this time there was an '!' enclosed in a triangle, indicating some problem. I opened it up and ran the Troubleshooter, and received the following messages: "Device driver software was not successfully installed, *No driver found, Problem not fixed". I remember seeing this once before in my numerous attempts to get my printer on the network.
However, a previous message said the software WAS, in fact, installed successfully....and when I took a look at my installed programs, it sure looked like it was.

Can no longer print wirelessly from my IPad

have a hp photosmart 6510 Airprint wireless printer; have pc, laptop, and IPAD connected to it; all have been working great until a few days ago when Ipad began to not print.
now when i click the print button on my IPad one of two things happen. 1) screen says "contacting printer" or 2) the small print box just disappears in both cases however nothing gets printed. Network is fine and web access is fine; configuration shows no problem; no problem printing wirelessly from pc and laptop computers. have unplugged router and modem, have also verified that blue tooth is off in IPad. what to do; any help would be appreciated

You unplugged the router and modem -- that's good. Now try resetting your iPad.
Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
