Problems Printing with Macbook pro 10.4.6

I have a MBP, and so far, no way to print. I try to do it, using airport, and even direct USB, but doesn't work, and the printer I have, acording to Epson is Universal. Is there someone, with a intel PB, that can print using a EPL-6200L.
I when to the Epson site, install the drive, but nothing........
I feel i'm back on stone age.
Thanks in advance.
Pierre

Epson has a very confusing way to install drivers. It is a two/three step process. Did you get the message that says the install was successful? If not, you only unstuffed the .sea file. Find an Epson folder and unstuffit using the latest version of Stuffit Expander (10.0.2). Inside the folder you'll find a .dmg file or an Installer icon. Double click the .dmg or installer. The .dmg will mount and inside it you'll find the installer. Double click the installer and the installation of your drivers will start. The install ends with a message that says the install was successful.
Post back if you're still having issues.

Can I use Dell AOI 922 printer with MacBook Pro?

    Cisco:
Very helpful!   My set up was Mac/ Lion trying to Print off a Dell Photo A10 922
Lion does not store any Lexmark, nor dow Apple, but I went to the lexmark site, and found this-
    http://support.lexmark.com/index?productCode=LEXMARK_X5270&page=product&locale=E N&userlocale=EN_US#1
Downloaded that, then hooked up the printer, Cmd-P, and the Mac found the drivers I had loaded.
Works fine.  Now when I go to my sisters, I can print!
byw, I'm probably just a Level 2  "GIYF"er, but your the only one ( of MANY folks) who thought to search Lexmart. I've seen posts by MANY geeks saying a Mac could not print to ANY Dell printer.
    Nice job,

  • Poster printing with MacBook Pro

How can one print posters with MacBook Pro? For example, 16 A4 pages to tape together.

I found system preferences but once I get there I
can't find the internet and network.
wait. in the System Preferences window, the third row down should be "Internet & Network"... the second icon from the left should be "Network".
are you saying you don't see the Network icon?
    I clicked show
all and it doesn't add anything.
correct that's just a "return to the main menu"-type thingy - i.e. if you click on "Appearance" from System Preferences window, and then decide that you want to go back to the System Preferences main window, you'd just click on "Show All"
    What am I missing?
I'm brand new to OS X.
well, i don't think you need Virtual PC... but i think we should first figure out why you're not able to get to the network setup section of system prefs....

  • Canon Pixma MP500 Printer won't print with MacBook Pro

I just bought a brand new MacBook Pro to replace an older PowerBook G4 laptop. I have a relatively new printer - maybe one year old - a Pixma MP500 from Canon that worked fine with the old laptop. I can't seem to get it to work with the new MacBook. I can use it as a scanner no problem with the new laptop, but not as a printer. I installed the software from the original Canon CD, but when I go to "add printer" MP500 shows up in the list as a USB printer but won't add. When I try to add it I get a -9672 error. Anyone out there with any idea what to do?

Hi, I actually did tried doing exactly that (should have mentioned it in my first email) and just tried it once more for good measure, but I still get the error message when I go to add the printer. So, MP500 shows up in my printer name list, with USB as the connection type, and print using shows Canon IJ Printer, but when I go to add I get "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. Error: -9672". Help!

  • Printing with Macbook Pro over wireless network and PC.

I just got my 17" Macbook Pro and this is my first Mac. I was using an Alienware laptop before and I was printing through the PC desktop in the bedroom hooked to a Epson printer thruogh a USB cable. I was curious if it is possible to set the Macbook up so that I can print through the PC. As far as I know Virtual PC isn't universal and only works with the power pc powerbooks, g4, g5, and etc. If someone could help me find the best alternative at the lowest cost I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Setting up new printer with MacBook Pro AND Dell?

Need a printer, want an AIO, any work better than others with MacBook and Dell?  Purchased a HP Officejet 6500A Plus, any problems using both systems togehter?  Also, should I set up the Dell first then the Mac, or viceversa?

Thanks for the help, I'm definitely getting there
I changed the settings as you've described and can now print from my MBP. The 3 Dell laptops are another matter. Would you have any idea what the IP address of the printer would be? Or the AirPort Extreme? I'm following this tutorial:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1004.html
without much success but I'm really guessing at the IP address. I've tried 192.168.1.1 (my router) and 192.168.1.101 (the IPv4 address) with no luck. I suspect it's the IP address that's the problem ...
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Wireless printing with MacBook Pro

Hope this is the right forum - I have a new MacBook Pro (love love love it) with an Airport Extreme. I am trying to get it to print wirelessly with an HPF4480. I have followed the instructions but it continues to tell me that the printer is offline. Help! Thanks!

Hi Zmiracle, are you saying that the Macbook Pro is not compatible for wireless? That is not correct. Suggest you go to http://www.apple.com/support/airport and look around. I think there is something missing here that we are not able to spot.

  • Wireless Printing with Macbook Pro Help

I just upgraded from an older G4 desktop to the macbook pro. I have a Canon Pixma 180 printer/scanner. Everything works with the desktop. I think I had a little challenge with the printer driver on the printer but all is good for the desktop.
For the MBP internet access I am using the NetGear RangeMax. It works great.
I would like to get rid of the G4 and just use my MBP. So this weekend I got a Linksys DPR 1260 print server. It says right on the box that its good for Windows and Mac. After I got it home. No instructions. The setup software is all for windows. I called their help line and all I kept getting was "we have a lot of difficulty with Mac's".
They did not know what to do. I know.... I am bring the print server back.
So I thought that I would get Apples Airport Express. But I have been reading lots of comments that this is somewhat problematic??
Does anyone have a good wireless solution to printing? Would it help if I get a different printer?

    Hi Bob,
I have a 9 year old Apple Laserwriter (PS4/12) that is not networkable that I managed to connect via a crossover ethernet cable to my Airport Extreme base station. This is then hooked up to my very old (appletalk) printer via an ethernet/appletalk converter, which you will not need, as your printer is much newer. If you have a USB printer, you may be able to connect it to the Airport Extreme via USB, and it will work, too.
If you can hook up your printer via an ethernet cable to an airport Extreme, you can print wirelessly to the printer. I have been doing this for over 1.5 years, and it has helped me to keep an old, but reliable, printer functioning.
I realized that this is kind of confusing, so here is my configuration:
My cable modem is hooked up to my airport Extreme via an ethernet port (blue cable). My printer is hooked up to my airport Extreme via a crossover ethernet port (i.e. green cable). In order for my computer to "see" the printer, I then made appletalk active from my Airport.
This then lets me print to my printer from either my powerbook G4 or my macbook pro.

  • Problems printing from MacBook Pro, bug?

For the past week I haven't been able to print from my computer.  First I get an error message in the actual printer dialog box... says that there's a 'filter error' and that I need to update the printer software.  Tried that, and search for latest OSX update but I've got that too (running 10.9.1).  My printer is an HP P1102, thought maybe it's on its last legs or something, but test sheets come out fine.  Then I also noticed something strange, which seems like a bug:  I can no longer save documents as pdfs properly, 1-2 page documents come up as a blank pages, longer documents are missing the first few pages and also some pages at the end, but the rest of the document is normal.  These documents are being saved as pset files (I save it as x.pdf and it becomes x.pdf.pset).  As the two issues came up at the same time and are linked to the print dialogue box, they're problably related?  Is this a bug, or some setting I need to change on the computer?

    Hi Eric,
i note that 10.9.4 is Mavericks.I cannot link directly as it is a wireless printer.
I have tried using the Terminal app, and typed the command as you indicated and i got the response attached.

I found that had to break this process. i don't know what this tells you with regard to the status of the printer connection.
Please let me know what I should do next?

  • Problem looming with MacBook Pro Late 2008?

This morning I had some ominous occurrences with my Mac Book Pro.  When I got it out, the battery was quite warm, even though I had turned it off last night before connecting it to the charger.  (It's never warm when it's not using the battery.)  Then, when I pushed the power button, nothing happened until after several pushes.  Eventually it did start up and seems to be working OK, but I'm worried, could this be a sign of a problem?  I lost a hard drive a few years and don't want to repeat that trauma.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

  • Time Capsule works with MacBook Pro (Mavericks) but not with IOS devices?  recent problem starting March 1, 2015.

I have a Time Capsule version 7.7.3 (model A1470) which has worked fine for almost 2 years with all devices, Apple and otherwise.  As of beginning of this month, March 2015 - no longer works with a new IPAD mini 3 and 6-month old iPhone 6 (both updated as of last night) BUT still works fine with MacBook Pro (Mavericks 10.9.5) and Epson printer XP-600.
On both IOS devices Airport Utility shows the Time Capsule and shows green light connection to internet, but never does the connection. The little status circle just keeps going round and never shows the Wifi rainbow symbol. both devices work fine on other Wifi's.  Airport Utility on iPhone actually connects enough to check on Airport base station's firmware 7.7.3 and says it is up to date!  but sadly stays on LTE.
    Have tried resetting, replugging etc...
Also, tried checking on updates.  Nothing shows in Airport Utility. When I try to go to see past updates ~/Library/Application Support/Apple/AirPort/Firmware to see if updated, there is no Airport in the Apple folder?
    A mystery...

Reset the TC to factory and redo the setup. see details below.
Here is the typical list of things you should try.. and if this doesn't help post again.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
    Setup the TC again.
ie Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the hard disk doing this.
Then redo the setup from the computer or perhaps it is better using iOS on the phone or ipad currently having issues.
    1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
eg TCgen5 and TCwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense. But this can be tried in the second round. For iOS the fixed channels particularly for 2.4ghz has helped.
    2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
    3. Ensure the TC always takes the same IP address.. you will need to do this on the main router using dhcp reservation.. or a bit more complex setup using static IP in the TC. But this is important.. having IP drift all over the place makes for poor networking. If the TC is main router it will not be an issue. This is a problem for a TC in bridge mode.
If this is of no help.. what modem do you have? What function other than modem does it have.. ie none or router??
How is the TC connected into the network? What function does it have? Router or bridge for example.
Post a few screenshots of the setup.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
This, Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70, is the current version of Flash. It should work with Snow Leopard or later.
