Problems restoring back-up to a new iPhone
I have an iPhone 3G 16GB that's crashed. I've been able to make an restore back up from the iPhone using iTunes.
Now I have a new iPhone 3G 16GB where I want to set my recovery to.
But every time, when I give iTunes the order to Restore the new iPhone from Back up. After selecting the proper Backup. It's estimating the amount of time it needs. right after that i keep getting the same error. : Can't restore iPhone ...., because an error has occured.

Sorry the Picture of the error is in Dutch.
it doesn't show an error or something...
Can someone help me?
Setting up the new phone with the backup of the old one should restore the 3rd party app data. It may be that some programs prevent that from happening, for security reasons, when restoring to a different device - Wi-Fi passwords are treated like that (properly restored to the same device, not restored to a different device).

I'm waiting for my new iPhone 5s to be delivered. I lost my iPhone 5 but did have it backed up on my MacBook Pro. I was using iOS6 at the time. Will I have a problem restoring the data to my new iPhone 5s assuming it will come with iOS7?
No, you should not. There are problems trying to go the other way, but updating a newer iOS release from a backup of an older iOS release has always been supported and is the basic means of setting up a new device from a previous one.

Restoring backed up information onto new iPhone?
My old iPhone 4s got stolen but was backed up by iTunes. I bought a new one today and when it asked me if I wanted to restore information from another iPhone onto my new one, I accidently restored my brothers iPhone onto mine rather than mine. I was wondering if there is a way to undo this restoration and go back so that I can restore all of my old information onto my new phone instead of his? Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately, no. When you sync with iTunes it creates a backup of the data and settings on your phone. This backup can later be used to restore your phone (or replacement phone) to recover the data and settings. You can also back up your phone to iCloud if your are running iOS 5, but you would have had to do that before losing your phone. If you did backup your phone to iCloud or by syncing it with iTunes, there is no backup to restore to.

I'm trying to restore my iCloud back up on my new iPhone 5s and keep getting "could not sign in your apple Id or password is incorrect. I noticed that the Id it's showing is not my complete email address. I've reset my password 5 times. It accepts my password when I install as a new phone. How can I resolve this so I can restore my back up?
Hello jwpg,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing after restoring an iCloud backup. I recommend the following articles for an issue like this:

I just upgraded from the iPhone 4 to 4s. I had backed up the old phone backed up to iCloud. How do I restore that data to my new iphone? Even though I had photostream on, it never synched. I installed iCloud for the pc and can see the backup up in the cloud. I just want to get all the data to the new phone.
When you go through the new phone setup, it should ask if you want to setup as new or restore from iCloud. If you have already setup as new, you will have to reset the 4S to factory settings, and go through setup again.

I changed from one iPhone to another and backed the first one up to the icloud. I have restored the content to my new iphone but cannot download the photos. Any advise will be greatly appreciated
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photos and some other items are added back after the restore has completed, you may need to wait a while. -
i made a backup for my old iphone 4 on my computer and now i want to restore my data to my new iphone 5 but i forgot the backup password. what should i do?
you can't recover iOS crypted backup password, for security purposes. your backup is useless. sorry.
if you still have your old iPhone, make a new back-up -
I have been restoring the backup into a new iphone for a week. My pictures do not get restored however. Is there anything I can do?
Not unless the phone was backed up to the icloud or in iTunes at some point. I know you said it's crushed but can it be connected to a computer? If so you can still back it up in iTunes and then when the new phone comes use iTunes to restore that back up on it.

"Could Not Sign In" when Trying to Restore Icloud on a brand NEW Iphone 5S
"Could Not Sign In" when Trying to Restore Icloud on a brand NEW Iphone 5S
It says "there was a problem connecting to the server?"
Wi-Fi in range, ID and Password Correct.... What is going on?Check that the email address is correct for your login. You'd be surprised how many times I've seen people see the prompt and just go with a password and not realize that the email address was wrong.
Aside from that, you can try resetting your password via the iForgot app.
If you forgot your password, you can easily recover or reset it using iForgot. For security reasons, Apple cannot reset your password for you. To protect yourself against unauthorized purchases to your credit card, do not give out your password to anyone.
NOTE: If you attempt to sign in to the Apple Online Store numerous times with the wrong password, you will see the following error message: “This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons." To reset your account, use iForgot. -
HI Team, Recently One week back I bought a new iphone 5 from India. They have given me a used mobile which has a different IMEI number when compared to the IMEI number present on the box. Please let me know how to proceed further
When you went back to the place where you purchased this phone, & asked them, what did they say?
No one here can help you with this, nor can/will Apple. You need to take this up with whoever you purchased this phone from. -
Just bought a new phone and want to import all my app settings and information. I have heard all the complaints about iPhone 4s running iOS 8 and don't want to update until I have it preinstalled on a new 6+.
Can I restore my info to a new iPhone 6 plus using a backup of an iPhone 4s running iOS 7.1.2?
or would I have to upgrade my 4S to iOS 8, backup, and then restore the new phone. I need to ensure that my 4S powers on and works so I can receive trade in credit for it (~$200), so this is worth a bit to ensure that my 4S stays functional.
ThanksYou can load a backup from an earlier iOS version onto a device with a later iOS version, but not the other way around.
If you're going to do this, I'd recommend doing a backup of your 4s to your computer (not iCloud) and load the backup onto the 6+ from the computer. You can try an iCloud backup/installation, but also do a local backup in case something goes wrong. A local backup is more comprehensive than an iCloud backup, and in my experience it loads more reliably. -
I have the lastest itunes software but I'm trying to restore a backup onto the new iphone 5s and I get an error message and cannot restore? Any advice
If iTunes is otherwise working properly start with TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5, otherwise move on to Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

When I go to select the backup that I want to restore on my new iPhone 6 PLUS it is greyed out and therefore
will not allow me to select it. I’m not too sure why that is happening. The only reference I can find to 8.3.1 is for a jailbreak. Sorry we that iOS version has not been released by Apple yet.

It could be a developers release but either way that is not a supported iOS

ITunes will not let restore a back up to my new iPhone.
My Iphone was recently stolen and I soon got a new one.I have tried to backup my new iPhone with an older backup that is on my computer but it will not let me do so.Does this have anything to do with the IOS 8.3 update?
Do some basic troubleshooting. Start by rebooting your computer and the phone. If the phone is updated to 8.3 it should restore. If it doesn't then the backup probably IS corrupt. Do you have an iCloud backup also that you can try?
