Problems restoring Ipad 3

I am having problems with my Ipad 3. I went to use it and suddenly i wasnt able to input my password in the unlock screen. I could press the numbers but nothing would seem to show up in the 4 slots to input my password. The screen wasnt frozen and i could slide the banners and the screen would highlight the numbers as i pushed them but would not show them in the slots. I have now tried to restore my Ipad from a backup after whiping it but have now reached a new problem. I have mangaed to "restore" my ipad from my last backup but my itunes shows my ipad restored and all my data on it but the screen on my ipad shows the connect to itunes screen. It also showed a pop up saying ibooks wasnt installed on mu ipad if that helps narroe anything down. I am trying the restore prosses again and am going to see what happens.
Help

Try recovery mode again and see if it will work. Quit iTunes and restart your computer and them try again. Are you using the latest version of iTunes on your computer?

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.

  • Not able to restore ipad .. error 14

I gave my ipad ( WIFI + 4G LTE , A1475 ) for a couple of days to my cousin as he had asked for it . When he returned it to me , I got to know that my ipad had been jailbroken . Since I did not want to risk my ipad , I connected it to Itunes and choose to restore from a backup . When I restored , I was still able to find cydia in it . I then opened settings and choose " Erase all settings " ( that restoring to factory settings ) . The problem then started .My ipad was continuously stuck at the apple logo with a progress bar having no progress . So , I put it in DFU mode and connected it to Itunes and it says , " The software on "Ipad" needs to be restored to factory settings or updated." I tried both the option several times on 2 pc, but it ends up saying " The software for the ipad "ipad" was corrupted during download. Please disconnect your device and try again." . I also manually downloaded the firmware and did **** + restore and proceeded . This time it went till half the way of restoring ipad and have the error " The ipad "ipad" could not be restored. An unknown error has occurred (14)."
Have tried multiple computers, usb ports, and have the latest version of itunes installed.I also searched online and tried that hosts , tinyumberlla , deleting previous ipad software downloads . But no use .
So , please help me bring my ipad back to normal conditions . I am feeling very bad for my ipad but still have a ray of hope left . awaiting for help .

I think it is the hardware issue. You can check the details for the error: Resolve iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support

  • HT1222 error 14 restore ipad 2 GSM iOS 5.1.1

error 14 restore ipad 2 GSM iOS 5.1.1

I spoke to Apple Tech Support. They were very helpfull and resolved the problem. First I was told to put into airplane mode for 15 seconds then go back to problem. That didnt help but apparently this solves lots of network type faults. Next I was told to reset the network that also didn't work. Finally then i was told to Hold both buttons until the screen goes black, when the Apple symbol returns release buttons. When the pad rebooted this cured the problem and i was able to tether again.
It seems you try this first on any faults it will often resolve problems. I've added this in hope that it will help others with any type of fault.
Can I thank you for all your help. Kind Regards Keith

  • An unknown error occurred (-1) while trying to restore Ipad 3 new

Happy iPad users, I may need some help from you please.
I’ve got a problem with my iPad new 32 GB WiFi + 4G LTE.
I bought it just recently in China and was using it for nearly one month without any issues.
Then at some point i started getting synchronization problems with iTunes and applications that I have downloaded did not run properly or simply won’t start on my iPad. Then I’ve lost cellular signal.
Trying to resolve the issues I had to reset iPad to factory settings and after that I could not register it with apple. I tried many times with no success.
Then I went through some internet articles and decided to restore my iPad and finally I’ve got my almost new iPad stuck is restore mode!!!
I cannot get it out of restore mode and I cannot get it restored.
When I try to restore it I get the following message:the ipad "ipad" cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)the ipad "ipad" cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)
The ipad "ipad" cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)
Here are the things I’ve done so far trying to restore it
Tried to restore in on Windows XP – no luck, same message
Tried to restore it on Windows 7 – no luck, same message
Tried to restore it on MacBook – NO LUCK, SAME MESSAGE
Tried to use recovery fix option on redsn0w. Did not help. I tried different versions of this program with no success. Maximum what I had is my iPad was entering “white apple mode” after clicking fix restore button.
Tried to restore iPad from DFU mode both on Windows XP and Windows 7, no luck, same message (error -1)
I suspect that my iPad may have a hardware issue however I still hope it can be fixed with your help.
We don’t have an official apple support centers where I leave and I would like to try all the options before I send it to abroad apple support center or to a shop where I bought it.
Please can anybody help me with advice on how to fix my iPad?
    Thank you all in advance.

I am facing the same issue, have you had luck getting it solved?

  • HT4623 I trying to update my iPad using iTunes. After connecting to MacBook Pro where is installed all latest software iPad is recognised as iPad, Serial Number: n/a. iTunes run recovery mode, trying to restore iPad firmware, and in the end unknown error

There was some updayts for my iPad 4 automatically downloaded. After installing it, the iPad began to restart itself every few minutes.
I tryed to update my iPad using iTunes. After connecting to MacBook Pro, where is installed all latest software, iPad is recognised as "iPad", Serial Number: n/a. iTunes run recovery mode, trying to restore iPad firmware, and in the end unknown error occured (3). Tried many times, not results. And now iPad stays only in recovery mode, can't switch it off.  How can I solve this problem please?

When I restart my iPad the connect to iTunes comes up and stays on until it shuts down again, I have read a report from Apple support suggesting I reinstall iTunes so I might try that again and also your suggestion which i shall also try, but thanks again - rg1547

  • Unknown Error Message (9) When trying to restore Ipad 1

Hi, recently i purchased an iPad 1, and am having problems when trying to restore the device. I put it into restore mode as it was going to sync every app on itunes which i didn't want, so i had to try and set it up as a new ipad again. Now the ipad is in restore mode, when plugged in to my laptop, iTunes does not recognise the iPad until i put it into DFU mode, by holding down the home button and Power button simultaneously, then releasing the power button until the 'connect to itunes' symbols appears. iTunes then recognises the iPad in restore mode and asks me to restore it. When i click to restore, it always stalls just after the 'waiting for iPad' message appears on iTunes, then the error 'Could not restore Ipad, an unknown error occurred (9)' appears.
I have tried downgrading my firmware and restoring my iPad to v3.2 but then the error 3194 appears. Also by trying to restore the firmware to the newest version using a downloaded firmware also returns this message. After some research on the matter, i read a few people claiming the problem is the USB ports. I have since tried restoring on another laptop and a PC, but still the error 9 message occurres, therefore suggesting it isn't a problem with the USB. My understanding it that it is either a problem with the iPad, or with the Firmware i have downloaded, and iTunes does not recognise this. As further information, the iPad is a first generation ipad which had the latest firmware updated on (v 5.2). It seems to be whenever i try to restore to a firmware i downloaded seperately, i get the error message 3194, and when i just click the restore button, and automatically updating to v5.2 i receive the error 9 message
Any suggestions as to how i can fix this problem?
    Thanks

i pulled this from another post on these forums.
    thy this:
"First try to turn off your iPhone, with the sync cable not plugged in.
Then hold down the home button (iPhone still off) and plug in the sync cable. (Keep holding the home button until iTunes pops up).
You have now entered force recovery mode.
Now try to update the iPhone, using iTunes, as instructed.
    That should work. "

  • Problems syncing iPad or iPad Mini with iTunes......

It all started when I tried to download some items bought on iTunes onto my iPad 2. For some reason it kept going through the download sequence then at the last moment they failed. Unfortunately I was nowhere near my computer at the time. After a couple of appointments at the Genius Bar I found I could download the items if the iPad was set up from 'New' - not much use as I wanted all my old apps back on. I sold the iPad in favour of an iPad Mini and had access to a computer too. Again, I could not download bought media from the Cloud but additionally I found I couldn't sync other Movies and TV Shows through iTunes.
    The common denominator was my iCloud account - more specifically my iPad back-up on iCloud (my iPhone worked fine). If I set up an iPad as a 'New Ipad' during a complete and full restore then transferring media with iTunes was OK. However, as soon as I did a restore from my iCloud back up, iTunes and iPad refused to 'talk'. It seemed there was something corrupt in my iPad's iCloud account. The only solution was to delete that part of the account and 'reinstall' it. Here is how I achieved it on iTunes 11.0.2;
    1.     Carry out an iCloud back up (just in case!).
    2.     Plug iPad into computer/iTunes.
    3.     On the iPad Summary page, select to back up to computer (encrypt back-up is up to you).
    4.     Click the button to 'Back Up Now'.
    5.     On the top menu bar select 'File', then 'Devices', then 'Transfer Purchases From ****'s iPad'. This can take some time depending on the size of the iPad.
    6.     At this point all the iPad settings and apps should all be saved (and on iCloud too!).
    7.     On the iPad Summary page click to restore iPad. At this point the computer may have to download the operating system from the internet first which can take a time depending on your internet connection.
    8.     Once restore is complete follow instructions on computer/iPad UNTIL.....
    9.     .....when it offers to set up iPad as New or from iCloud or Computer back up ensure you select COMPUTER BACK-UP.
    10.     Again, it will take an age as all the settings and app transfer back onto your iPad.
    11.     Once done have a go at transferring some media such as a film or TV show and all should be good now.
If happy then its time to ditch that iCloud problem....
    12.     on the iPad go into 'Settings', then 'iCloud', then 'Storage & Backup', then 'Manage Storage' and there should be a list devices that back-up to the iCloud. Select the correct iPad that you have been having problems with.
    13.     At the bottom of the page is the option to 'Delete Backup'. Select this and that should be your 'problem' gone.
    14.     I at this stage restarted the iPad and computer and made sure all was well and they were still 'talking' to each other.
    15.     If you wish you can then go ahead and re-establish an iCloud back-up of your iPad. Once the backup is complete do one final check to ensure iTunes and iPad 'talk' properly.
    JOB DONE!! (Hopefully!!)

Some of the suggestions in this support article might help.
iOS Device Not Recognized in iTunes for Windows.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If this happens to me - I quit iTunes, restart my Mac, restart the iPad and then try again and that always works for me. It's a little different in the Windows OS because there are a number of other issues that can be causing this problem, but you have nothing to lose with the "restart everything" approach.

  • Unable to restore ipad

Hi, I'm having problems restoring my Ipad after it was disabled due to too many wrong pin entries. I have tried using the restore option in itunes but keep getting the error message "The iPad software update server could not be contacted" even although my internet connection is fine. I have tried disabling firewall and virusguard, reinstalling itunes, and using DFU mode but always get same error msg!
I went onto the chat several times with itunes support but all they could tell me was try again later. Surely their is a way round this as you would think this is a common problem with people forgetting their pin or kids putting in wrong one. I am using windows vista 32bit on my laptop with up to date itunes.
    Please help?

Is this how you do the Recovery?
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.
