Problems Restoring Ipod w/ Itunes 7 (please respond)

So, I've had trouble getting my Ipod to update or restore using Itunes 7. I really need to update my Ipod so it will be compatible with my Bose Sounddock remote. Anyway, I uninstalled Itunes 7 and installed Itunes 6, (as I read in some of the previous posts) but I can't figure out how to restore my Ipod using Itunes 6. Is there anyway to get back to the original settings, (I made the mistake of updating to 1.2.1 and now it's stuck there) so I can update again? Thanks,
-Mack

Well, you were completely correct with your fears. I just ran into this exact problem and was asked to restore my iPod to factory settings, but was unable to to so since the option is not actually there.
Much hate for the integration.

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
So, are you repeatedly being asked to restore your iPod by iTunes similar to that described in this Apple support document?
[iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1456?viewlocale=en_US]
If the same message keeps appearing, you may have to reassign your iPod's drive letter. You can find instructions on how to do this in this Apple support document.

  • Trying to restore ipod but itunes says no internet connection.

Trying to restore ipod but itunes says no internet connection. Uninstalled and re-installed itunes but still have same problem. Trying to restore because I uploaded songs from Yahoo music jukebox to ipod but they won't play. They are listed as "other" and I can not access them to delete or play. Tried to delete through music jukebox but now it say " error reading content" so I figure restoring ipod is the only way to fix problem.

    Does this help?

Your only recourse is to force it into DFU mode:
Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

  • Ipod causes Itunes to not respond, unable to restore - another app running

I am an original Ipod mini user.I have not had many previous problems. Now,I want to update my Ipod but I get into a very frustrating loop when I connect my Ipod to Itunes 7.0.29-latest version. My Ipod is recognized but the program freezes after a very short while.I have to go to Task Manager to unfreeze the software and I cannot get anything to load onto the Ipod. When I go to restore the Ipod,I get a message that it "cannot be restored because another application is running".This is frustrating because there is nothing else running.
I am in a no win loop that I cannot recover from. Can someone please help.
    Thanks,

Have you disable the anti-virus software yet?

  • Problem restoring iPod touch 5

I am trying to restore my son's iPod touch 5 and am seeing the "To allow access, please respond on your iPod touch" message on the computer, and the "connect to iTunes" message on the iPod at the same time.  What am I supposed to be responding to?  Not sure exactly what OS he was up to. See below for visuals.

I did a five fingered magic swipe, while my wife was pushing all the buttons at once, and tried the process again.  Now it is working.

  • How to restore ipod via itunes while ipod is in disk mode?

I am trying to restore my ipod via itunes. My ipod is corrupted and I can only connect it to the computer while the ipod is in disk mode. After ipod is connected and in disk mode, the first stage of restore via itunes begins, the bar appears, fills up and then disappears. Then my ipod seems to disconnect from the computer and begin an infinite reset loop algorithm. How do I successfully restore my ipod while it is in disk mode?

I have the same problem, but my ipod stays in disk mode all the time. Won't show in iTunes.tried Apples suggestion to restore in disk utility, but no dice! I have tried everything and now I will give up, maybe it's too old?

  • WON´T UPDATE OR RESTORE IPOD IN ITUNES 7 !! HELP !!

I am having problems updating and restoring my ipod in itunes 7. It simply disconeects Ipod when asked to do so.
    Thanks a lot !!

    hmmmmmm.
it might be worth quickly checking on the issue from this document:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes 7 doesn't recognize iPod
(my diffidence here is because it's a fairly new issue, and i don't have a good feel for the "symptom sets" associated with it ... still, it does no harm to check.)

  • Ipods causes Itunes to quit responding

When I have Itunes open, I noticed that it wouldn't immediately recognize my ipod. So I watch Task Mager, and saw that Itunes would quit responding momentarily (30 sec). Any idea what cause this?

This sounds like a problem I am experiencing.  How were you able to resolve your issue?

  • If use restore IPOD on itunes, leave new version of OS?

If i press restore on the iTunes said that the data will be lost, I havo no problem with that, but, restore the original OS version?..
I want to use the version that had after the 1.0.3

Apple doesn't host older versions of iPod software, so you would need to have the previous version still on your computer.
Look in "Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates" for previous versions you may have downloaded.
If you have 1.0.2 there you should then delete all other updates from the iTunes/iPod updates folder.
Then prevent iTunes from checking the internet for a new update (preferences/general and remove the check mark from "check for updates automatically) or simply disconnect your modem from the computer.
Then either update or restore the iPod.
You should then be asked if you want to use the previous version of the iPod software.

  • Can't restore iPod in iTunes 10.5.3

I cannot restore my iPod in iTunes 10.5.3. The Restore button just opens an Open finder dialog. The same thing happens for the Check For Update button.

That Finder dialog will pop up if you hold Option when you click Check fo Updates or Restore.
If that's isn't it try to delte the .ipsw files that iTunes has already downloaded from Finder > Go > Library (hold Option to see it) > iTunes
Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)
iTunes uses "ipsw" files to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files  are unusable, then try deleting them, renaming them, or moving the file  to a different directory. This will cause  iTunes to  download a new copy of the IPSW.    When a restore issue is specific to a  user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. If removing the .ipsw file does not resolve a user-specific restore issue, then the issue is caused by other user-specific security software settings or iTunes preferences. Creating a new user  will also cause new .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the new  user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:
    Mac OS X
    iPhone
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    iPad
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates
    iPod touch
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates
Note: The tilde "~" represents your Home directory.
