Problems reverse telnetting

I have a 2620 being used as a console server. I have an async 32A card in it with two octal cables connected to my deivces. When trying to reverse telnet to any of the lines, all I get is:

So ESC isn't working during boot? FYI 9.2 is not supported on non-X ASA chassis (which I'm sure you have now figured out). You can also try changing the escape sequence so ESC will work. Check this link on how to change that.

  • Problem Reversing a Credit Card Payment

I am having a problem reversing a Credit Card payment. Here is the the steps tha led up to the probplem:
    1) Applied Payment to an Invoice, paying the total of the Invoice using the Payment Means of Credit Card
    2) In Deposits, selected the Credit Card tab and selected the Payment to be deposited and Updated the Deposit.
    3) Brought the updated Deposit up, Clicked Data, selected Cancel and Canceled the Deposit.
    This worked well
Here is were I have a problem
    4) Brought the Incoming Payment that was deposited and then had the deposit Cancelled, clicked Data and selected Cancel,
when prompted for Transaction Cancelation date, first selected Origional Document date,  then selected CUrrent System date,
but received the same message "Can Not Cancelled.  One of Credit Vouchers was cashed".
I tried to reverse the Transaction the same day it was orrigionally applied.
Any odeas why I can not reverse a credit card payment BUT if I selected Check as the Payment method,  I am allowed to reverse the Check?
    I am currently running SAP B1 2007 SP00 PL47
    Thanks In advance!!!
    Dana

    Hi,
Julie is correct. The setting is found in Admin/Setup/Banking - Credit Card Payment - Setup window. The "Payment After" field (Days/Month) is what determines whether the payment may be cancelled/reversed. Once the number of days/months indicated have passed, you cannot cancel the incoming payment transaction.

  • Reverse telnet to a specific line, based on AAA credentials

I want to setup a console server like a 2600 or something with a 16 or 32 port async module and allow users to access only certain ports/lines by reverse telnet based on login credentials.
For example, user joe can reverse telnet to ports 1 and 2, while user jane can reverse telnet to ports 3 and 4. User Jon can reverse telnet to ports 1 through to 6.
Is there a way to make this work? A document somewhere that outlines what's involved?
    Thanks in advance.

2600 Series is a Multiservice Platform so you can't convert like access server but you can enable the role based access.

I use EScript and FScript through telnet sessions all the time, and I
don't have any problems. Can you give more information on the problems
you are experiencing? Are there any error messages? Does it hang? Any
other information about the platforms and process you are using?
For example, can you even get into FScript/EScript? If not, your
environment variables for the user may not be set (you have to have set,
at least, FORTE_ROOT and FORTE_NS_ADDRESS, or you have to use explicit
    paths and the -fns flag).
Also, how are you invoking telnet (Unix-to-Unix, Windows-to-Unix,
etc.)? Which telnet client are you using?
More information would be really helpful in diagnosing your problem.

  • Why the name Reverse Telnet ?

Forgive me for this simple ( and to some, stupid) question. Why is reaching the console ports of devices attached to a terminal server called Reverse Telnet. I am confused about the "Reverse" part.
    1. You reach "terminal server" by some suiteable means (telnet, ssh, console) from a device say your computer.
        c:\> telnet 10.10.10.1
        termsrv >
    2. You effectivily telnet to localhost (terminal server) on a specific port bound to certain TTY connection
        termsrv > R1                                  ! ip host R1 2001 <<loopback_address_termsrv>>
        R1>
Whats different for this second telnet is, instead of the telnet server (running on terminal server) presenting you with a second command shell it connects the mapped console port to the new telnet session. Effectively you read from or write to console port of R1.
R1 is oblivious about this whole operation. What's so "Reverse" about this second telnet session ?
    Thanks.

Ah, this is a good question.  Step into my time machine, and travel with me back to late eighties.  The 3Com 3C501 PC Ethernet card was released at the bargain basement price of $999 USD and the mighty Interl 386-DX33 was released to great fanfare.  Windows ran on top of DOS and all PC IP networking stacks were 3rd-party bolt-ons.  When you communicated with a computer, whether DEC, IBM or whomever you did it with a DUMB TERMINAL.  A terminal, for thos eof you who have never sern one,  was either a keyboard and a printer combo (like a Decwriter 100)  or a CRT text screen (Like a VT220, 80 columns by 24 lines) and a keyboard.  What you typed went out the serial port to a computer, and the computer sent text and screen drawing back commands through that same serial port.  That was the common human-computer interface of that era.
In the bad old days, the terminals were connected directly to the computers by serial interface cards and RS-232 cable.  As computers got faster, more and more terminals could be supported.  This started to get ridiculous as many serial lines emerged from these computers.  The bigger computers  looked like a mutant octopus.
Enter the TERMINAL SERVER, one of Cisco's early products. (The ASM)
The Cisco ASM terminal server took up to 96 terminals in an area and provided serial port connections for them.  It then multiplexed those terminals over Ethernet in order to reach an Ethernet connected computer (host).  The host computers were now freed from the sea of serial cables and could service dozens to hundreds of terminals thorough a single Ethernet port!   As a result, dozens to hundreds of slow, lightly used 9600 bps serial cables were replaced by a single 10 Mbit/sec connection.
The Cisco ASM software provided a telnet client to each serial port so that each terminal could connect to any telnet server (host) on the any network.  This allowed users to connect to multiple computers and relieved the load of computers providing telnet client services to directly attached terminals.  In this model, connections were initiated from a terminal on the port of the Cisco ASM to some distant computer.
Over time, Cisco noticed that there were computers and other devices (like the IBM 7171) that could not support Ethernet conenctions, but had dozens upon dozens of physical serial ports.  To make it so that network based telnet clients all over the Internet could access such an Ethernet-free computer, Cisco implemented a telnet SERVER function in the ASM.  Connections from a distant telnet client could now conenct through the ASM telnet server and reach these serial ports which had previously been limited to local terminals or expensive modem connections.  Since this activity was the exact reverse of the original use of the ASM, the function became known as "Reverse telnet."
In summary:  When a serially attached device CONSUMES service FROM the network, that is TELNET.  (The original design!)
When a serially attached device PROVIDES services TO the network, that is REVERSE TELNET. (The opposite of the original design.  But useful!)
Now, I will wait for people who have been in the industry longer than I have to go on about SNA, 3270s, paper tape and punch cards.

  • Suspend reverse telnet in Terminal

    Hi All,
I'm unable to suspend a reverse telnet session (e.g. from an access server to a router) with Terminal.
    The character sequence is: < ctrl-shift-6> < x >
This works perfectly from the Win XP command line but not from OSX (10.5.4) Terminal. When pressing "CTRL-SHIFT-6" I hear a beep an the key combination is not accepted. Tried will all the terminal types, as ANSI rather than VT-100, with no luck?
    Anybody can help?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Setting up reverse telnet for 1900 witch access

Hey all - I set up a lab to mess around with at home. The switch is an ancient dinosaur, but still it gives me something to mess with.
Does the 1900 xswitch support a reverse telnet port? Anything I need to be aware of in configuring the line? I can telnet to the management port on the switch. I can attach a console cable and connect to the console port. I tried setting up a 2509 router with an Octal cable for access. It works for reverse telnet to my other Cisco routers, but I get "% Connection refused by remote host" when I try reverse telnet to the switch.
    Help!

Thanks for the info. I verified the line:
    Swi1900-A#sh line
    RS-232 configuration:

  • Problem with Telnet

    Hi,
I am using Telnet from the terminal application. I can Telnet to any device except one which says "trying" and it just stays there. If I use hyperterminal from Paralles (Windows XP) I can connect without any problem.
Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this problem?
    Thanks a lot.
    Macbook C2D   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Root access via direct telnet can be added/removed by editing the file /etc/default/login
    Look for the line
    CONSOLE=/dev/console
    if this is commented out with a hash ( # ) like this;
    #CONSOLE=/dev/console
then root can telnet directly. If it's not commented out
then you will have to login to the server as another
    user and then change userid.

  • Problems reversing a Clearing document

    Dear Frieds,
User has cleared few documents with Transaction Code F-32 during monthend process and now he wants to reverse the clearing document.
Trying to reverse through FBRA Tcode but it's giving error message as u201C Balance of the line items is not Zerou201D.
Could you please help me with this to rectify this error.
Thanks a lot for all your help.
    Regards,
    Hari.

    Hi Hari,
Note 400530 - FBRA - F5136: Balance of line items not zero
    Summary
    Symptom
A payment using a payment card fails, in other words, the payment is reversed using Transaction FBRC where the customer or vendor item is reopened. It is not possible to reset a payment document posted again for the open customer or vendor item by using Transaction FBRA, "Reset Cleared Items" and it responds with the error message "Balance of the line items is not zero".
    Other terms
Error message F5136, FBRA, FBRC, payment cards
    Solution
A solution is available in the Support Package for Release 4.0B and 4.6C. An advance correction is possible. The solution consists of a repair report, so that the current payment document can be reset by means of 'Reset Cleared Items', and of a correction.
    1. Repair-report ZREPAIR_BSEGC_FBRA:Create it temporarily as a test report using Transaction SE38. First the current payment/clearing document must be cleaned up of payment card data by means of the repair-report. Afterwards you can reset the payment document by means of 'Reset Cleared Items'. The report takes the current payment document as a parameter. In this case only changes are made to the database if the option "DO_UPD" is set.
    2. Advance correction:Supplement the interface for function module CREDIT_CARD_POST_REFUSAL with table parameter T_BSEG with reference type BSEG. The following describes the procedure in more detail.
    a) Transaction SE37: Enter function module CREDIT_CARD_POST_REFUSAL and choose "Change".
    b) On the "Tables" tab page, create parameter T_BSEG with reference to structure BSEG.
    c) Save and activate the function module.
    3. After you implemented the correction or the R/3 Support Packages valid for this note, read Note 450081 to avoid the unwanted deletion of payment card data.

We are not able to run Telnet in Win7 (64bit)  with IE8 (32 bit ) (example:
    telnet://ip), but it works with 64bit IE8.
    Any solution?

C)Click Turn Windows features on or off
    D)Check Telnet Client
    E)Hit OK
    2-
Copy the 64 bit version of telnet.exe from %windir%\System32 to %windir%\SysWOW64
3- Add the following registry key for the 32 bit version of IE
Open Regedit.exe and navigate to the following registry key:
