Problems running adobe 7 on solaris 9

Hello all,
I am needing some information on getting adobe 7 to run on my solaris 9 server v4400. I have installed the software correctly in the recommended directory and I can run the the reader from /opt/acrobat folder. I can then load any files manually through the reader.
What I need to be able to do is when a user puts a cd in the drive with a file that has a .pdf extension for them to be able to double click on it and the reader to open the file. Right now I am getting an error message that states acro reader not found. I have a guess that it is a path problem but am very new to solaris. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh yeah I have tried this while logged in as root and as a admin user account I created.

Maybelline :
No error message. When I click on a pdf file, nothing happens. When trying to execute the command in a terminal window, the cursor remains hung up and nothing happens. I raised the issue because Adobe did not indicate it would work in a CDE desktop environment. As a result, I am still using Acrobat 5. But it would be great if I could upgrade to 7 or 8.
Thanks,
Al Arking

    Hi garryw,
What version of Reader are you using, and are you on Mac OS or Windows? Do you get the same error when you try to print other PDF files, or is the problem specific to one PDF?
For starters, please try the solutions listed in this thread: Re: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat /Reader. If it is running ,please exit and try again.(0:104)

  • Problems running Adobe Connect add-in under XenApp

This is a real stab in the dark but it's a serious problem for us. Something has changed recently with Adobe Connect that means the add-in (adobeconnectaddin.exe) is hanging at the "Connecting" prompt. We're running Windows 2003 Terminal Server with Citrix XenApp v5 on top.
I suspect it's a problem with Flash acceleration features baked into HDX Flash, part of XenApp but it used to work. Flash v11.3 or higher broke HDX Flash but I don't think that's the problem as I've gone back to a very basic XenApp build with nothing much apart from the OS, XenApp, Flash v11.2.202.235 and the latest add-in - same crash occurs. If I happen to logon to the console using RDP, the fault doesn't occur hence my reason for suspecting it's the Citrix Receiver client/HDX Flash/Adobe Connect Pro add-in nightmare combo!
But considering I've gone back to an earlier image of XenApp (we keep copies of all builds) from February where Adobe Connect used to work fine, I suspect something has now changed with ACP that's broken it on XenApp.
As I said, it's a shot in the dark because this is a relatively unusual set-up and we're on an old version of XenApp/Windows as well.
    But help!
    Cheers, Rob.

Rob, it sounds like port 1935 is being blocked. Can you verify that that port is open?
Have you gone to the Test Your Computer page for your connect account. After the diagnostics run, choose to send and email and then click on the details... link to see the results of the test.
Here is a link to that page for our hosted account, if that makes it easier: http://realeyesconnect.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm
If needed, Connect only requires FP 10.3 or newer. If it comes to it, an older version of the Flash Player can be tested.

  • Re: Problems Running Adobe Pro 11 - error 16

    Hej,
neither Adobe's solution (Configuration error 16 | CC, CS)  nor the above modification by Nate worked for me under Mac OS 10.9. I recently updated to Mac OS 10.10 and the error still appears
Adobe Reader Pro 11 always crashes after a minute:
    "Configuration error
Please uninstall and reinstall the product.
If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error: 16
    http://www.adobe.com/support/"
    What can I do?
    Regards

    Navigate to MAC HD/Library/Application Support
right click on Adobe folder and select get info
Under sharing and permission Click on lock and unlock it
Click on + add your current user name and administrator if not added
Then give Read and Write permission for Admin, system, everyone and (your user name)
Click on gear icon and choose apply to enclosed item
    Then Click on Lock
    Lunch Acrobat and check.

  • Problem running Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.2 on Win8

After installing it, when I try to run it, nothing happens, no error dialog, no window, nothing,,,
    Suggestions?

With more details: I found an answer to a similar question on the Forum from TTWTT (TTMTT), who posted a link to download versions 2 and 3 of Digital Editions at Adobe Digital Editions downloads (Adobe Digital Editions downloads). I had tried find these downloads on Adobe's far from helpful website with total lack of success. Version 3 seems to be working.
Whether Adobe is working is a totally different question.
So far it appears that Adobe Digital Editions 4.02 is a disaster, best avoided.
My thanks to TTMTT, and if I could give credit for a correct answer I would.

Well, beings that it is a free product and they didn't put it on the machine, I would say that you'd want to talk to whomever sold you the laptop. It should have a warranty of some sort.

  • Can i run adobe design premium 4 in macbook pro 2011?

I just bought a macbook pro 2011 2.2 GHz, quad core i7 to work with my adobe design premium 4. I heard many software like final cut studio and adobe creative 5 are are not working well with mac os lion. I got really worry and want to return the macbook pro. But before returning the macbook pro, i need to hear from you. I google and many people had no problem running adobe cs3 and cs4 with mac os lion. I need your help!

Both Adobe software titles you reference are incorrect. Do you mean Adobe InDesgn 4? if so that has problems running in Lion. I don't know where you get your information about Final Cut pro from. You can always check that forum here:

  • "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)

We are getting the following error "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)" and a gray screen appears (Image not viewable) with multiple users. We are using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.05) and (11.0.06). The current workaround is to log off the website and log back in. Once the user logs back in, the pdf will appear. However it occurs anywhere from 2-8 times in a day. Anyone else having this issue or know of another workaround? Any suggestion with how to fix? Please help!!

    Hi Valerie,
Please let me know the version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader & operating system installed on your computer?
    Also, try this:-
    Launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
From the menu, choose Edit -> preferences -> General
Uncheck the option for "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
Restart the Adobe Reader and web browser.

  • Has anyone in this Forum had problems with installing and running Adobe apps on the new MacPro?

Has anyone in this Forum had problems with installing and running Adobe apps on the new MacPro?
I have been trying to install Photoshop CS6 & CC and Acrobat Pro XI on my Mac Pro (late 2013). I keep getting a 'configuration' error message and wondered if the problem was wide spread.
    TIA,
    Jerry

    Thanks, Martin.
Good to hear someone has had success. The lack of it here is frustrating and depressing.
    Thanks again,
    Jerry

  • Problem with Adobe Reader not being able to run with Maverick  10.9.2?

problem with Adobe Reader not being able to run with Maverick  10.9.2?

Have you updated your version of Adobe Reader?

  • I get this message when I try to open .pdf files in Mozilla: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (1014:1014)

What can I do to get this to work?

We were getting the same error on a Win 7 machine which had Acrobat 7 (running in compatability mode) and Reader X installed.  When the user was trying to open the link from an email the error 'There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat.....(0:521) would appear and the pdf would not load.
Investigating the problem I can across an article to uncheck the option "Display PDF in browser" (in the application choose Edit -> Preferences -> Internet).  Undertaking this procedure in Acrobat Reader X however, I could not uncheck this and the path the app was showing was for Acrobat 7!?!
Therefore, opened Acrobat 7 and undertook the same procedure.  Unchecked the "Display PDF in browser" (in the application choose Edit -> Preferences -> Internet) which I was able to do, saved and closed the application.
Rechecked Acrobat X and the "Display PDF in browser" could be deselected and the path was now for ..\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
Retried the original email with the link to the pdf and it now opens without error.
Not too sure if this will help but just thought I would share.
