Problems saving password in Mail app for AOL mail
I'm helping someone set up there Apple Mail app so they can access their AOL mail from it. I followed the instructions people have posted on the boards here but for some reason i can't get it to save the password. If i go into Mail prefs the accounts and enter the password then save it for some reason it won't save it. If i quit Mail then relaunch it the password is gone. Also when i enter the password in the the password window and then ckick on the remember in keychain it won't save it. I open the keychain utility and there's nothing in there for Mail. Just a wi-fi password.
Any ideas?

I honestly can't say, as I do still use the AOL software. But you could still try it, to see if it works with her AOL Email address, if that is all she has.
Are you and she aware, that if she is now using another ISP, she can still use the AOL software for free?

To remove the account, all you need to do is to go to your Mail Preferences, go to the Accounts tap, select the AOL account and click the Remove button ( - ) in the lower left hand button of the window. Take a look at the article below for more information.

When you remove an email account from Mail, the account’s messages are deleted and no longer available on your Mac. Copies of messages remain on the account’s mail server and are still available (from webmail, for example).
Important: If you’re unsure whether messages you want to keep are still on the mail server, move or copy them into a mailbox stored on your Mac (the mailbox appears in the On my Mac section in the Mail sidebar) before you delete the account in Mail.
Choose Mail > Preferences, then click Accounts.

In the new mail app for OSX v10.7 Lion it seems I can only setup my gmail account as an "imap", when I need to set it up as "pop"... PLZ HELP I NEED MY MAIL TO WORK!!!

Select Mail Contacts and Calendars
Then select Other
Then select "Add a Mail Account and click create
Then go to google for the settings you need:

I am trying to determine which e-mail platforms work in Mac OS 10.9.1 other than Yahoo and G-Mail. I wanted to open an Outlook e-mail account for e-mails that I want to be able to track by read receipts and delivery reports but it appears that Outlook is designed for use in Windows primarily. Unfortunately G-Mail does not have any settings read receipts and delivery receipts and I have had problems with Yahoo e-mail being hacked so I don't want to open a new Yahoo account. Any help or suggestions in that area would be appreciated. Thank you very much!!!

How to disable message images in Mail app for all but contacts?
I use the Mail app for OS X Mavericks and have been inundated with spam lately. I understand that spam email campaigns can confirm that you have opened their mail (and subsequently continue to send you mail) by image tracking so I would like to disable images from showing for all except my contacts. I don't recall if it was with Mail or another email client I previously used, but I vaguely remember message images not showing by default and requiring you to click a button at the top of the message in order to show the images within it. If possible, I would like to be able to do this for non-contacts.
So my question is: how can I disable images from showing, by default, in messages from non-contacts within the Mail app?
If there is no way to do this, can someone suggest an alternative email client for Mac OS that does allow this? I am willing to change if this feature does not exist within the Mail app.
Thanks for your time.Personally, I've never heard of spammers tracking by a contact's image. I think you might be confusing this with the images in the message.
Spammers can do two things to track you.
1) Send an email with a read receipt. Mail doesn't support read receipts
2) Send an email with an embedded image (sometimes called a bug or beacon). When the email is opened, the email software loads the image from the remote server by sending it an HTTP request.
If a message matches the junk mail criteria, then a bar will appear near the top of the message. External images in the message will automatically be disabled, so that spam authors won’t be able to track if you’ve opened the message. To load the images, click the “Load Images” button in the bar, or to mark the message as not junk, select “Not Junk.”
Mail > Preferences > Viewing >Uncheck Display remote images in HTML messages.
Enable Junk filtering in Mail Preferences. Check "sender in in contacts, sender in in previous recipients**, message is addressed using full name.
Use SpamSieve, third party product to filter spam, http://c-command.com/spamsieve/
Keep contacts in your Address Book.
Mark messages as junk to help train the junk filter.
Don't open a message you think is spam. You should be able to see enough of a message in the preview to know if it's spam.
** Open Previous Recipients under Window in the Menu bar. Remove any addresses from spammers. -
How can I get the Mail app for my late 07 Macbook? I don't have my original installation disks but would find it handy to be able to mail data without using gmail to copy and paste.
You will need the installer discs or a retail copy of Leopard. You can call AppleCare to order replacement discs.

There are no alternative voicemail apps - the core functionality of the phone can not be replaced.
You'll have to look for an external service, that can then forward calls for each caller onto the correct phone.
At our business we use Voipfone.co.uk which allows multiple phone lines to come into one VOIP account. -

This is how I have done it (from http://verizon.com/emailsettings)
You'll need the following email settings:
Incoming mail server (POP3): incoming.verizon.net
Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net
Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465 Why is this important?
Make sure SSL encryption is enabled for the incoming and outgoing mail server.
In my Mac (a Quicksilver 2002 Dual 1GHz) under Leopard OS X 10.5.8 ...
Mail.app > Preferences > Accounts > Advanced
Choose "Use SSL" ... that changes the Port to 995
I did that for each of my current e-mail Accounts.
Also ...
Mail.app > Accounts > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) > Edit Server List ...
For each Server Named:
Choose "Use custom port" ... and enter 465
AND
Choose "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
For for the record, "POP3" does not show up as an Incoming Server, only "POP" for my Accounts.
I believe this is what Verizon is asking for ...

Try the steps suggested on this page. if the problem isn't solved that way, continue as below.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. Move the following items from the folder that opens to the Trash (some may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.mail
Saved Application State/com.apple.mail.savedState
Leave the Finder window open for now.
Try to launch Mail. If the problem is solved, you’re done. Otherwise, move these items, if they exist, from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
Application Support/AddressBook/MailRecents-v4.abcdmr
Containers/com.apple.mail
Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Preferences/com.apple.mail.searchhistory.plist
Try Mail again. If it launches, you'll have to recreate some of your settings. Delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
If Mail still doesn't work, put the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash.
Move the subfolder named "Mail" — not the Mail application — from the Library folder to the Desktop.
Test. If Mail now launches, it will prompt you to set up an account. Cancel and restore the Mail folder from the most recent backup you have that predates the issue. A corrupt database is causing the problem.
If there’s no improvement, put back the Mail folder and post your results. -

That's nonsense, if you look at the settings you will see you can put the entire device into Arabic if you want, as well as type and read Arabic emails and other docs. The font is there, but for some reason the encoding is botched, either by the app or the place sending the email to the iPad. -
Mail App stopped checking mail
Hi. Mail App stopped checking mail suddenly. I was able to check my mail at 10:15 this morning. Now when i tell it to get mail it does nothing at all. I repaired permissions and reboot and still no luck. Any ideas?
