Hi.
When I try to send a photo as an attachment to an e-mail the phone won't send it unless I am connected to wi-fi, not through my mobile connection. Is it possible to change these settings? I can send/recieve 5GB for free each month through my mobile service provider, so that shouldn't be a problem...

You need to start in the app that contains the file that you want to send as an attachment, and use that app's functionality (assuming that it has it) to select the file and connect it to an email - you can't start in the Mail app itself

Encoding problem when forwarding mails with attachments using exchange account

Hi,
I'm facing a special misbehaviour of mail. Scenario: With Apple Mail 7.2 I would like to forward an exchange mail with attachments. The mail is wirtten in german and uses german special characters like äüöÄÖÜ. During editing the mail everything is ok which means all characters are shown in thte correct way. When I send the mail, something magic must happen in the background.
When I look in the sent mail folder and open the mail, all special characters are show as "?". Must be an encoding problem, I gues but I don't know how to fix it.
When I send exactly the same mail with another Apple mail account (non exchange), there is no problem. So I assume it has something to do with handling exchange accounts under Apple mail.
Any idea to solve this issue? Thanks in advance.

This is a know issue with Yahoo! Email on the iPhone. When sending email, sometimes it will say it has been sent, while it really has not (and it will not show up in the sent folder).
It has been discussed quite a bit in the forums, so a search will turn up a lot of discussion, but no solid solution. Some say Yahoo is working on a fix, other that Apple is.
The most common solution (which is usually temporary), is to either reboot your phone, and/or delete and reinstall your Yahoo! Mail account on your phone.

How to Send E-mail With Attachments

I want to be able to send e-mails from a procedure having attached a file which is retrieved from a BLOB.
I found Note:120994.1 on Metalink. This note describes how to do this with Sun's JavaMail and a Java Stored Procedures. Unfortunately, it takes the attachment from the file system of the OS, not from a BLOB.
Has anyone adapted this JSP to retrieve attachment from a BLOB? Is it possible? Maybe it is easy, but unfortunately I don't have experience with Java.
Or has anyone another approach for this task?

I send e-mail with attachments but they dont show in folder

I am sending e-mails using MacMail and if I send one with an attachment it doesn't show in the sent folder, although the e-mail has been sent and received. Can anyone help me or tell me why ?

Is this a POP or IMAP type account? If the latter, what are your selections in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors regarding Sent messages?
Are you reporting that you can send, from within the Mail app, a message without attachment and it will be archived in the Sent mailbox, but not if it has an attachment?

We have multiple e-mail addresses here at my office, all on the same server, same domain, etc. 2 users are unable to send e-mails, but can receive just fine. The e-mails they send are showing in the "sent folder"; however the recipient never receives
the e-mail, and there are no error messages! My e-mail, again it's associated with the same domain and server, works just fine, I can send and receive e-mails all day. The ports are correct, the settings are correct, I have checked EVERYTHING! I have even

What about when using Outlook Web App [OWA] or Outlook in Online Mode? See if they have any anti-virus software components integrated with Outlook, disable them and verify result.

Problem sending e-mail with I-pad

I can receive email through my ISP(cox), but I can not send. I get an error message that says "sender address rejected by server". I have called cox several times and they don't seem to know anything about the ipad. I have deleted all my e-mail information in settings and reentered with the same result.
Any help resolving this problem would be appreciated.

Update for COX users
I found that COX recommends the iPad, iPod, and iPhone users use Server Port Settings for Secure Authentication.
These are as follows:
Incoming POP Port 995, SSL is ON, Authentication is Password
Outgoing SMTP Port 465 or 587, SSL is ON, Password Authentication selected, Enter your Username and Password.
The Incoming POP settings are at Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calanders>Your Cox Account>Advanced
The Outgoing SMTP settings are at Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your Cox Account>SMTP>Your Primary Server
I tried this for SMTP Port 587 and it worked

This problem seems to be intermittent. Regular e-mails work fine but as soon as I add an attachment the program keeps trying to "connect" but never completes the process.

Make sure that your anti-virus software isn't blocking the uploading of those files.

Perhaps the mail server has a size limit that it allows. Might try a free web service and see if that will work for those attachments.

I am able to send a plain mail ... but when i am trying to send mail along with an attachment ... its not being sent....
its not showing any error it is simply hanging...
what should i do?

activation.jar is already there...
initially i wrote a swing program as a front end and it was working abs fine... in my sense it was properly sending mails along with the attachments...
when i changed the front-end to JSP handled by Servlets i am getting a problem...
and even the swing program stopped working ...
now swing program is getting compiled but it is hanging at run time showing an exception "Exception occured during event dispatching"
i dont understand what probably may be the problem...
if u can trace out, please give me any suggestions

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and Mail 4.5. When I receive mails with attachments which are visible the save button doesn't work. Some contacts have problems opening files sent by me using Mail too. This was never a problem on pre-Intel. A real Mac **** up !

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.

Receiving mail, but can't send mail with attachments?

I can't send mails anymore, I have been able to send some without any attachments (i.e. reply doesn't work as it automatically attaches the original text). This started 3 days ago. Also, my mail doesn't seem to recognize powerpoint and word docs., but I a know the people who have send me such files do not have VISTA. When I choose "open with" then it works. So I have 2 problems, one being moe urgent then the other.
1) can't send mail with attachments
2) .doc (word), .pps (powerpoint)attachments are not always recognized.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works
