Problems sending to Outlook 2003

So some people I send emails too are on Outlook 2003 and I'm facing heavy criticisms. 2 things come up:
a) When typing in Rich Text, the receiver gets a ? whenever I do a double space after a full stop, a question mark appears in their screen view.
I reckon this has to do with the text encoding?
b) Secondly, when I make attachments like PDFs or JPGs, they will get an additional txt file together with the attachment. So if I attach 3 PDFs, there will be 3 txt files also attached to the email. Furthermore as we on Macs just drag and drop attachments into mails (NOT all the time at the end), all text that I type after the attachment, will then be put into another text attachment to the email, thus shortening my actual email.
Any ideas why? Are we (the Mac character standards) at fault OR can we turn it back onto Outlook?

This may not completely answer you questions...
Why not just send messages in plain text? I always use plain text.
When attaching, how about waiting to the end. And instead of doing drag and drop to the compose window, click on the Attach button and drag and drop to the file selection dialog window. That way, all attachments will be at the end.
Also, if you want better interoperability with Outlook, you may need to invest in Office 2004 (2008 due early 2008) and use Entourage. I'll bet those emails will look better between Entourage and Outlook. Or you might try the free Thunderbird email client to see if it works better for you.

  • Sending an Outlook 2003/2010 Meeting Request via CF

Well, that about sums it up!
OK, a few more details:  my application is sending out emails without any problems, but now the user wants to be able to receive appointment requests to the public calendar that she maintains instead of having to retype the email information that is coming to her inbox.  Her ideal solution is to receive an appointment request to the public calendar which she can accept, tentatively accept, ir decline.
This public calendar (called DMV-ISB) is available to everyone in the department and we can manually add our leave information to it.  However, as humans are inclined to do, no one bothers.  This creates an administrative nughtmare for her and there are days she spends up to four hours coordinating the calendar.
We are currently using Outlook 2003, but expect to migrate to Outlook 2010 by the end of the year, so the solution has to be either robust or easily converted.  I've tried using cfmail with the cfmailparam/cfmailpart tags, but all I get is an email, no appointment request.
Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.

As you pointed out, the owner still has to interact with the request (although a lot less interaction than before).  An email appears and the owner has to open the attachment (which is the appointment request, properly formatted!) and then accept the request.
This is frustrating because I have seen other examples where the request arrives without being "cloaked" in an email as an attachment.
If you want to do this, find an example email and view the original email message directly.

  • Can't download attachments from a specific sender in outlook 2003

All of a sudden I can't download any attachments from a specific sender that I was able to before, no changes have been made and I can download/save attachments from other senders.

    Hi,
Please using OWA to download/save attachments for testing.
If it is working in OWA, it should be an issue on the Outlook Client side.
Please run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs, add-ins and firewall for testing.
Please re-create a profile to refresh the caches for testing.
Can other recipients download/save attachments from the specific sender?
If all users cannot download/save the attachments from the specific sender, it seems that there maybe some Security issue on the attachments or the specific sender.
Please check whether there is any related Transport Rules applied, as Administrator, if possible.
Please also verify whether the attachments' size bigger than the attachment size limit.
Please also select some related App logs for the further troubleshooting.
    Hope it is helpful

  • Outlook 2003 Calendar syncing bug fixed!

Since Apple has refused to acknowledge this major bug in Itunes 7.7 - iPod Touch 2.0, I decided to solve the problem myself.
As you all know. The new Apple software and firmware upgrades have destroyed the syncing of Outlook Calendars with both the iPhone and iPod. Syncing calendars doesn't work anymore.
I use my iPod Touch/Outlook Calendars everyday for my work. I need my calendars to be in sync always.
Here is what I am doing to solve the problem - and it seems to work. Test it yourself.
    1. Open Outlook 2003 or 2007.
    2. Go to the Calendar tab.
    3. Find a Calendar appointment or event that is not syncing correctly with your iPod Touch.
    4. Make note of the details of the appointment - date, duration, recurring etc.
    5. Write these details on a scrap of paper.
    6. Store the paper in your wallet.
    I joke - but I'm getting mad.

As much as I love my iPod Touch, this problem syncing with Outlook 2003 -- and the failure of Apple to acknowledge it (at least there's nothing I've seen so far) -- has me ready to toss it out my office window. It all seems so random: Sometimes it's fine and the sync woriks, sometimes it's producing multiple versions of an appointment, and sometimes the appointment gets deleted from Outlook, the iPod or both. Looks like I actually do need a paper backup!! This is the second time that updating my iPod Touch has resulted in a major slip in functionality. The last time I was told that by an insider that Apple engineers dislike having to work out bugs with Windows, that they don't like Windows. Are we being punished? This is seriously annoying.

  • Not all appointments in outlook are syncing - Outlook 2003

I've seen a number of threads about outlook not syncing at all with the iphone. My issue is different in that I am able to sync but not all my calander appointments are making it onto the phone. I dont see any common factor in the appointments that arent making it. Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas?
After 2 dayt Im close to getting the iPhone to where I need to be. This is the last of the major issues. I guess thats why its called the bleeding edge.

Same problem here. Outlook 2003 Calendar only syncs some events, but not all. But, contacts sync both ways without any problems.
Sure like to get the calendar to sync right.

  • Difficulty in connecting Office Outlook (2003) to mail server

I have two computers at home, a desktop operating Windows XP linked to the router via an ethernet cable and a laptop operating Vista, linked through WiFi, two hotmail accounts, one .com and the other .co.uk. The
desktop uses Office Outlook 2003), the laptop Windows Live Mail. On the same day about 3 weeks ago both computers failed to 'sign in' to the mail accounts. There was no new software uploaded at the time on either. There is no problem with internet access and
I can access both e-mail accounts via the browsers from both machines, so the usernames and passwords are correct. I have email contact, but using Office Outlook and Live Mail are a lot more convenient than 'Outlook.com' in the browser.
I have tried powering down the router and after a while (8 hours!) powering it up again - no change. I have contacted the broadband provider and they told me what outgoing mail server to specify and what the port
number should be, but I can't find anywhere to enter these. When I look for the connections I get taken to the Outlook.com page but that is no help, there is no obvious place for the connections to be specified. What do I do next?
In Office Outlook the tech person advised entering the following.
Outgoing mail server: SMTP.talktalk.net, port 587, Authentication - yes
When I go to 'Outlook Connector', then 'settings', then 'Mail Options', the computer takes me to https://dub125.mail.live.com/mail/options.aspx
and there seems to be no place to enter the name of the server. I can't find any other place for 'settings' in Office Outlook.
In Windows Live Mail I can find the mail accounts and it tells me that they are on an HTTP server with the URL: http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/sync.aspx
I hesitate to replace this with the mail server given above, because I am not really sure what I am doing.

    Hi,
From your description, OWA works well, the issue should be related to Outlook side. Actually, we have a dedicated support team regarding the Microsoft Office which is staffed by more experts specializing in this kind of problems. Since Outlook 2003 is old
Outlook version, we have not supported for it. It is recommended to upgrade to a later version of Outlook. Your understanding will be appreciated.

  • Sending Email in Adobe Reader XI with Outlook 2003

After upgrading the Acrobat Reader on our Terminal Servers with Windows Server 2008 R2 and Outlook 2003, it is not possible to send pdf from Acrobat Reader via E-Mail. When we select the function to send the document per mail (with the default mail program (Outlook)), the focus switches to Outlook (when started), but no mail with the pdf-file as attachment is opened.
Is Acrobat XI not compatible with Outlook 2003 anymore? Is it a problem only in terminal server environments?
Is anybody able to get this to work in a similar environment?
    Thanks for any help.

11.0.01 patch was released last thursday (01/10).

    Hi Vikas_Rathore_Patni
I'm a student in Greece and I'm interested in the way this code of yours actually works. What i really want to do is to find a way of opening e-mail attachments and extracting them to a txt file. Are there any necessary tips for that ?

  • Outlook 2003 problem

    Hello,
Just recently if I write an e-mail only a part of it will be sent, especially if I delete a part of it and rewrite it.
Another time it actually sent what I decided to delete and not any of the new dialogue at all?
As you can tell this could be very embarrassing.
    Help!!
    Thanks Abnerchester

    Hi,
Try to send the email to yourself, and check if there's a difference between the one in
Sent Items and the one in Inbox.
Please also logon your Webmail/OWA, send the email and check if the issue persists.
If this issue only occurs when you send emails on Outlook 2003 Client, please run Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We can also try to repair Office in Control Panel to check the result.

  • Outlook 2003 will not send emails with itunes running

Has anyone been subject to this issue? While running itunes, I can not send emails. I have to shut itunes down and then the email can be sent. I run XP Pro and have Outlook 2003. Itunes is updated whenever an upgrade is avaialable.

I'm seeing that same problem on my computer. I've tried looking all over for solutions, but so far I haven't found anything. The only workaround I've found is to hit Alt-s to send the message instead of pressing the send button.

  • Sending emails with attachments through outlook 2003

    Hello,
I have recently switch from cablevison to Fios. With Cablevison, I never had a problem with email. However, now I am having problems sending emails with attachments using outlook 2003. I have called Verizon and we troubleshooted the problem and they feel this is a Microsoft problem.
I can send email's without attachments through outlook and verizon.net, but I can't send emails with attachments through outlook, I can send them though verizon.net.  All my settings are correct for sending and receiving email.
I called Microsoft and they say it a Verizon problem...
HELP, does anyone have a solution?????
    Thanks
    Len628

Which antivirus software do you run on your computer? Are there any errors posting?  Have you shut off any email firewalls temporarily to attempt to isolate your issue?  Do you have outlook 2003 on more than 1 pc in your home?  Have your tried to attach a small text file and send it to see if that goes thru successfully?

  • Outlook 2003 + iPhone calendar sync problem solved

Here is how I solved my sync problem. Seems a lot of people have the same problem here with Outlook sync suddenly not working after it worked fine for a long time.
I've had Outlook 2003 calendar sync with my iPhone for a few month without any problem, but a few days ago the sync suddenly stopped without any error message. iTunes Diagnostic found no problem and I followed all the steps that Apple outlines to fix the problem but nothing worked (TS2776).
As Apple asked to, I created a new user account on my Windows machine and setup a few test calendar entries to sync with my iPhone. That all worked fine.
So I did what Apple doesn't tell you, and I copied my original Outlook Data file (.PST) over to my new user account and tried to sync that one. Now this didn't work. So I knew the problem lies somewhere in my PST file.
I have then tried to create a new one from scratch in my original Windows account, and copy all the data over. Again, it didn't work. So I emptied the file again, and copied all my calendar entries over to the new PST file in batches (first 10, then another 10, etc).
What I found at the end is that one single calendar entry I created a few days ago caused my sync to stop working. Once I removed this entry, everything worked fine again. Don't ask me what was wrong with it (I made a backup just in case Apple wants to see it), but now everything works again.
If you want to save some time to find which one it is, you may start deleting entries that you created just recently before it stopped working.
    Hope that helps.

Hi im having the same problem. I use outlook 2003 on windows xp and until recently my sync (using usb) was working fine. Now it would seem that calendar items are no longer syncing. can you give any further details of the calendar entry which was causing your problem? im wondering if it was added on a certain date perhaps.
I am running the inbox repair tool to see if my pst file has any problems but would appreciate any other help in the mean time.
    Cheers
