  • Problem setting up the Software Library in Grid Control

    Hi,
I installed Grid Control version 10.2.0.2 and patched it to 10.2.0.4 (on Win2003 Server Enterprise Edition 32 bit). After the installation i was advised to configure/add the software library. So i did as it was specified:
"To configure the Software Library, click on the 'Provisioning' sub-tab and set the path for the Software Library from the 'Administration' page. After setting the path, run the following command from any one of the OMShosts: "${OMS_ORACLE_HOME}/bin/PARDeploy -action deploy -parDir ${OMS_ORACLE_HOME}/sysman/prov/paf -force" on Unix, or "${OMS_ORACLE_HOME}\bin\PARDeploy.bat -action deploy -parDir ${OMS_ORACLE_HOME}\sysman\prov\paf -force" on Windows."
The problem is that when i set the path under the 'Provisioning', i get the following message:
Successfully added Software Library Directory :
C:\OracleOEM\swlib\, but Par files deployment failed
And if i run the PARDeploy script, i get the following error:

    Hi,
Issue solved. The workaraound was to manually upload the *.par files.
    Procedure:
Under Deployments Tab click on the Provisioning Link in the Top Left section of the Page. In the Administration Tab go to the bottom and ensure that a location to the Software Library Configuration is setup. Then go back to the Deployments Page by clicking again the Deployments tab and click in Deployment Procedures link on the bottom. Using the 'Upload' button upload one at a time the files located under the OMS's $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/prov/paf directory.
Once all .par files are uploaded, all components, directives and deployment procedures should be visible from the Deployments tab in the Grid Control console.
    Regards,

  • Having problems setting up homesharing on my iPhone! Help!

To set up homesharing on my iPhone, it tells me to go to the "iPod" section of the settings app. But there is no such section in my settings app, so how on earth am I supposed to set it up?!

Great! Now make sure you have iTunes running on your laptop and it is not in sleep mode.
On the iPhone tap on the 'Music' icon. Now Tap on the 'More' icon located along the bottom of the screen. Next tap on the 'Shared' item on the list, it will be the last item. Your iPhones music list is selected by default. You will also see listed any Home Shares available on your network. In your case you should see the iTunes library on your laptop.Just select it and wait for it to load all the music and playlists from your laptop's music library. You shouls now be able to play all the music stored on your laptop.

  • I have some questions regarding setting up a software RAID 0 on a Mac Pro

I have some questions regarding setting up a software RAID 0 on a Mac pro (early 2009).
These questions might seem stupid to many of you, but, as my last, in fact my one and only, computer before the Mac Pro was a IICX/4/80 running System 7.5, I am a complete novice regarding this particular matter.
A few days ago I installed a WD3000HLFS VelociRaptor 300GB in bay 1, and moved the original 640GB HD to bay 2. I now have 2 bootable internal drives, and currently I am using the VR300 as my startup disk. Instead of cloning from the original drive, I have reinstalled the Mac OS, and all my applications & software onto the VR300. Everything is backed up onto a WD SE II 2TB external drive, using Time Machine. The original 640GB has an eDrive partition, which was created some time ago using TechTool Pro 5.
The system will be used primarily for photo editing, digital imaging, and to produce colour prints up to A2 size. Some of the image files, from scanned imports of film negatives & transparencies, will be 40MB or larger. Next year I hope to buy a high resolution full frame digital SLR, which will also generate large files.
Currently I am using Apple's bundled iPhoto, Aperture 2, Photoshop Elements 8, Silverfast Ai, ColorMunki Photo, EZcolor and other applications/software. I will also be using Photoshop CS5, when it becomes available, and I will probably change over to Lightroom 3, which is currently in Beta, because I have had problems with Aperture, which, until recent upgrades (HD, RAM & graphics card) to my system, would not even load images for print. All I had was a blank preview page, and a constant, frozen "loading" message - the symbol underneath remained static, instead of revolving!
It is now possible to print images from within Aperture 2, but I am not happy with the colour fidelity, whereas it is possible to produce excellent, natural colour prints using its "minnow" sibling, iPhoto!
My intention is to buy another 3 VR300s to form a 4 drive Raid 0 array for optimum performance, and to store the original 640GB drive as an emergency bootable back-up. I would have ordered the additional VR300s already, but for the fact that there appears to have been a run on them, and currently they are out of stock at all, but the more expensive, UK resellers.
I should be most grateful to receive advice regarding the following questions:
    QUESTION 1:
I have had a look at the RAID setting up facility in Disk Utility and it states: "To create a RAID set, drag disks or partitions into the list below".
If I install another 3 VR300s, can I drag all 4 of them into the "list below" box, without any risk of losing everything I have already installed on the existing VR300?
Or would I have to reinstall the OS, applications and software again?
I mention this, because one of the applications, Personal accountz, has a label on its CD wallet stating that the Licence Key can only be used once, and I have already used it when I installed it on the existing VR300.
    QUESTION 2:
I understand that the failure of just one drive will result in all the data in a Raid 0 array being lost.
Does this mean that I would not be able to boot up from the 4 drive array in that scenario?
Even so, it would be worth the risk to gain the optimum performance provide by Raid 0 over the other RAID setup options, and, in addition to the SE II, I will probably back up all my image files onto a portable drive as an additional precaution.
    QUESTION 3:
Is it possible to create an eDrive partition, using TechTool Pro 5, on the VR300 in bay !?
Or would this not be of any use anyway, in the event of a single drive failure?
    QUESTION 4:
Would there be a significant increase in performance using a 4 x VR300 drive RAID 0 array, compared to only 2 or 3 drives?
    QUESTION 5:
If I used a 3 x VR300 RAID 0 array, and installed either a cloned VR300 or the original 640GB HD in bay 4, and I left the Startup Disk in System Preferences unlocked, would the system boot up automatically from the 4th. drive in the event of a single drive failure in the 3 drive RAID 0 array which had been selected for startup?
Apologies if these seem stupid questions, but I am trying to determine the best option without foregoing optimum performance.

    Well said.
    Steps to set up RAID
Setting up a RAID array in Mac OS X is part of the installation process. This procedure assumes that you have already installed Mac OS 10.1 and the hard drive subsystem (two hard drives and a PCI controller card, for example) that RAID will be implemented on. Follow these steps:
    1. Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities).
    2. When the disks appear in the pane on the left, select the disks you wish to be in the array and drag them to the disk panel.
    3. Choose Stripe or Mirror from the RAID Scheme pop-up menu.
    4. Name the RAID set.
    5. Choose a volume format. The size of the array will be automatically determined based on what you selected.
    6. Click Create.
Recovering from a hard drive failure on a mirrored array
    1. Open Disk Utility in (/Applications/Utilities).
    2. Click the RAID tab. If an issue has occurred, a dialog box will appear that describes it.
    3. If an issue with the disk is indicated, click Rebuild.
    4. If Rebuild does not work, shut down the computer and replace the damaged hard disk.
    5. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
    6. Drag the icon of the new disk on top of that of the removed disk.
    7. Click Rebuild.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2559
    Drive A + B = VOLUME ONE
    Drive C + D = VOLUME TWO
What you put on those volumes is of course up to you and easy to do.
A system really only needs to be backed up "as needed" like before you add or update or install anything.
/Users can be backed up hourly, daily, weekly schedule
    Media files as needed.
    Things that hurt performance:
    Page outs
Spotlight - disable this for boot drive and 'scratch'
SCRATCH: Temporary space; erased between projects and steps.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StandardRAIDlevels
(normally I'd link to Wikipedia but I can't load right now)
Disk drives are the slowest component, so tackling that has always made sense. Easy way to make a difference. More RAM only if it will be of value and used. Same with more/faster processors, or graphic card.

  • Problems Setting up my wireless network with an Xb...

Hi, I have had some problems setting up my wireless networking.
I have everything switched on and am able to go online with the laptop and the Xbox with no problems but when I try to share media with the xbox I have problems.
I have opened the ports specified in the setup from xbox on windows firewall and have no problem connection Via Ethernet cable but when using wireless the xbox cannot detect the laptop.
I have checked the network map and both xbox and laptop are connected and have enabled sharing and am running sharing software.
    Below is the network map.
I have also been having problems with BT software, the free virus protection will not install, The desktop help will not launch although it shows up on task manager and the installation disk does not launch correctly it doesn't get past the loading screen.
I have had a printer on the wireless network and had no problems printing.
If anyone knows how to resolve this please help.

I have this same Motorola modem and I just verified that my 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) can get Internet access with this modem without any issues.
When changing ISPs (or networking equipment) it's always a good idea to start from "scratch" in configuring your equipment.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.

  • Problems Setting up NFS

    Hi.
I've been having problems setting up NFS on a LAN at home.  I've read through all the Arch NFS-related threads and looked at (and tried some of) the suggestions, but without success.
What I'm trying to do is set up an NFS share on a wireless laptop to copy one user's files from the laptop to a wired workstation.  The laptop is running Libranet 2.8.1. The workstation is running Arch Linux with the most up-to-date (as of today) software, including NFS.
I have the portmap, nfslock, and nfsd daemons running via rc.conf, set to run in that order.
    I've re-installed nfs-utils and set up hosts.deny as follows:
    # /etc/hosts.deny
    ALL: ALL
    # End of file
    and hosts.allow as follows:
    # /etc/hosts.allow
    ALL: 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0
    ALL: LOCAL
    # End of file
In other words, I want to allow access on the machine to anything running locally or on the LAN.
I have the shared directories successfully exported from the laptop (192.168.0.3), but I have not been able to mount the exported directories on the workstation (192.168.0.2).
The mount command I'm using at the workstation:
    mount -t nfs -o rsize=8192,wsize=8192 192.168.0.3:/exports /exports
There is an /exports directory on both machines at root with root permissions. There is an /etc/exports file on the NFS server machine that gives asynchronous read/write permissions to 192.168.0.2 for the /exports directory.
    I receive the following message:
    mount: RPC: Program not registered
This appears to be a hosts.allow/hosts.deny type problem, but I can't figure out what I need to do to make RPC work properly.
Some additional information, just in case it's helpful:
This is the result if running rpcinfo:
       program vers proto   port

    Regards,
    Win

    Hi ravster.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had read the Arch NFS HowTo and did as you suggested get rcpinfo for the server machine. The Libranet NFS server is configured rather different since the NFS daemons are built into the default kernel.
Since I needed to complete the transfer immediately, I gave up for now trying to set up NFS and used netcat (!) instead to transfer the files from the Libranet laptop to the Arch workstation. The laptop will be converted to Arch Linux soon so I think I'll be able to clear things up soon.  I haven't had any problems setting up NFS with homogeneous (i.e., all Arch or all Libranet) computer combinations.
    Thanks again.

    Ro,
Thanks for the respone, have been playin, with MPLS for last few hours.
The routing between the loopbacks is now working, can PING 7609 Loopback from AS5350 ,and vice versa. (used static routes).
Having problem with TDP / LDP on routers,
mpls label protocol ldp / tdp command works correctly on both routers, but the
    tag-switching tdp router-id Loopback0 force
command works on the 7609, but when I add it onto the AS5350 , the command "mpls ldp router-id Loopback0 force" appears on the startup script.
The opposite is true for the 7609 , you add MPLS LDP command, and TAG-SWITCHING command appears instead.
Any Ideas, as different configs of this leave me with forwarding table with both tags added, but not been able to ping the loopbacks !!!
When I can ping bot loopbacks, the OUTGOING TAG , disapears.....
Problem is LOOPBACK Commands on bot routers default to LDP (AS5350) , or TDP (7609). Any Ideas ...

  • Problems setting up WRT54G2 router

I'm having problems setting up my Linksys WRT54G2 router. I want my mac laptop (iBook G3 running OSX) to use a wireless connection, and the home computer (running Windows XP) to stay connected to the modem.
I originally tried to set up the router by connecting it via ethernet to my laptop (and by ethernet to the modem), and went into the 192.168.1.1 address to configure it. The internet works fine on my laptop when connected to the wireless by ethernet but it can't connect wirelessly (it has an original airport card fitted, at first I thought I might need to upgrade the firmware but I ran a software update and one didn't come up). I then realised that I would need to MAC clone from the PC, that is connected to the modem? I tried to do this today, but I couldn't access the 192.168.1.1 address from the PC. I have tried resetting the router, and disabling the firewall but still can't access it. This PC also has anti-virus software running too - could this be the problem, or am I setting it up wrong? Thanks.

If you are trying to Setup your Router with the setup disk, Then you can exit from the setup and configure your Router manually. Before you configure your router, you need to Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable.....
You need to connect your Modem to Linksys Router on Internet Port and your Computer to Linksys Router on Port No.1.
If your Internet Service Providor is Cable follow this link
If your Internet Service Providor is DSL follow this link
Here are the Wireless Settings which you can set on your router, once done you can try connecting your MAC computer to your Wireless network and check if you are Online from MAC computer.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Problem setting up RAID0 on ASUS p9x79Pro

I’m having problems setting up a RAID0 on my new p9x79pro build, and I think I’m following the right procedure, first time doing this and it’s not working, so I could really use some help.
I pre-installed the Intel drivers downloaded from ASUS prior to installing Windows 7 using the f6 method.
After installing, I ran the Intel rapid storage enterprise installer software, and the raid controller shows up in Device Manager.
I then followed the procedure in my mobo manual.  I went into the bios, into advanced mode, changed my drives from ACHI to RAID mode, and then went into Ctrl I mode and tried to set up a raid.  The two new WD 1 TB black caviars I have were visible, but greyed out and described as “non-raid disks”.  When I went through the process, they remained greyed out, and I could not select any drives to raid, though I tried creating a RAID0 anyway.
These drives, both new, had already been partitioned.  These drives are plugged into the top two sata 6gb ports on the mobo, which should be correct according to the manual.
When I rebooted, my drives were not visible, and as expected, there was no RAID0.  I went back into BIOS, deleted the (nonexistent) raid, and reset the drives to ACHI, but the drives still did not show up.
So, thinking I screwed up somehow, I did a full reinstall of windows.  After installing the Intel enterprise installer software, I went into device manager and the drives were back, but unpartioned.  Before partitioning, I tried to RAID0  these again, using the above method, but no luck, still greyed out.  I also made sure to let windows connect online to download any hotfixes, which it did.  All my other drivers are up to date, as is BIOS.  Before I partition these drives and try again, figured I’d ask here.
I think I’d be there, if only the drives were not greyed out.  What am I doing wrong?
Also, if I were plugged into the bottom two drives (the Marvell controller, which show up in Device Manger, so it appears to have installed) how would I set up a RAID0?
      Thanks

Something is off as the Intel SATA6G ports fully support raid. I would consider doing a write zeros on your drives and and retry creating on the Intel ports.
I complete a quick check on a P9X79 Pro without issues screen below for your reference.
Steps used ( already had OS install on single SSD ). Completed using UEFI defaults ( drive was installed under AHCI ).
Step 1. Connected 2 SSDs to the Intel SATA6G ports white ports not label SSD Caching ( which are the Marvell ports )
Step 2. Entered into the UEFI and changed to Raid
Step 3. Saved and reboot and entered into Raid Console ( Ctrl I ), Once enter created Raid 0 and defined 2 Corsair drives as drives to be used in Raid
Step 4. Rebooted and entered OS and install RST driver/application.
Included some screenshots including performance throughput of 2 SSDs on SATA6G ports which can only be achevied via Raid0 on Intel SATA6G ports.
One thing that was not clear is where is your OS present / installed and on which port?
Hopefully you will be able to get this sorted and resolved. Then again if you are ok running the Raid on the Marvell ports you are already solid.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

  • Possible fix for "problem downloading the IPOD software.." error

I have a click wheel IPOD and after dropping it was forced to restore to factory setting. When attempting to restore, Itunes nor my computer recognized my IPOD and when it finally did I got the message
"These was a problem downloading the Ipod software for the Ipod "Ipod." The requested resource was not found."
I did the 5 steps repeatedly over 2 days with no luck then today I combined advice from a bunch of postings and it worked!
    Here's what worked:
    1)Bought a new USB 2.0 connect cable.
2)Deleted the folder containing the firmware files: see
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304309
    3)Delete Ipod updater
    4)Restarted computer
    5)Download updated Itunes
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/start/
When I ran the exe file it asked if I wanted to "repair" or "reinstall" I choose "repair".
    5)Reset ipod
6)Opened itunes, connected ipod, it took about 10 minutes for itunes to sync with the ipod.
    7)Choose restore.
After that it went as normal.
    Cheers
    Dell Inspiron   Windows XP

    Is this any helps?

How do I use GarageBand as a amp/speaker to listen to my Electronic Drum set? I have a MIDI-USB cord already but I can't figure out how to listen to my set through the software using my computer speakers?

If you want to listen to the sounds of your drum set, you should use an audio cable and connect it to the computer's line-in, then create a real instrument track.
If you use a Midi/USB interface, you'll have to create a software instrument track and select one of GB's drumsets as the instrument. Hopefully your drumset's midi notes are mapped to the right sounds in GB.
