Problems sharing disks using OpenFiler.

Hi There
I am following below link to prepare shared disks between two Oracle VM Nodes. After creating rules files "/etc/udev/rules.d/55-openiscsi.rules" and "/etc/udev/scripts/iscsidev.sh". I have restarted the Service but i do not see iscsi directory under /dev directory. I have tried creating rules and iscsidev.sh files several times.. but no luck so i was thinking if one of you faced this issue may be able to help me.
I do see files under /dev/disk/by-path/ .......... but i should be able to see files under /dev/iscsi
http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/hunter_rac10gr2_iscsi.html
Please help.
Sorry if this is not the correct category . I have posted this to VM section but did not get any response.
Cheers
P

Did you follow Jeffrey's guide? ... because I did one yaear ago and got the openfiler iscsi devices working fine. Did you check the OS messages file?, did you find any problem starting iscsi demon?

  • Problems burning disks using Disk Utility

    Hi,
I am trying to burn an disk image onto multiple DVD's. I manage to sucessfully burn to DVD twice on the third burn I get a message telling me that disk verfication is not complete. I am wasting a lot of discs here.
I don't seem to be able to reduce the burn speed (it is set at x4) I have tried turning the mac off and on and it still happens. I had similar problems in iDVD hence why I am using Disk Utility.
Is this a bug, a problem with the burner or a problem with me??

Hello Again! Here's some titles that will do that. I personally just leave it on 24/7/365 Tom

  • Problem sharing images using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2

Just installed this program and can't seem to email an image. It goes through the processes and the email box pops up with the attachment and when I click on send, it saves and closes. Where does it save and close to and why isn't it sent immediately. Thank you for your help. I am beginning to feel like a dunce.

    Hi Mattie,
The role of this program while mailing ends with the popping up of the email box.Any error that occurs afterwards must be due to the mail client.Which mail client are you using? You have mentioned that it saves and closes, so is there any message that is popped about it being saved?

  • Problem Repairing Disk using Disk Utility

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having trouble with my PowerBook G4 and I hope I can recover my files on my HD. Recently, while trying to boot it up, I would just get the grey Apple with the spinning timer indicator underneath it. It would stay like that for far too long and I would have to shut it down and try again.
So I tried rebooting from my installation disk and running Disk Utility. I verified the disk and then got an error, so I tried to repair the disk. This is what I have on my screen now:
Verify and Repair Disk "Macintosh HD"
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog File.
    Keys out of order
    Rebuilding Catalog B-tree
The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error
    Repair attempted on 1 volume
1 volume could not be repaired
I know the files on the HD are there because when I do a "restore" I can go into the file structure and see them. I was planning on getting an external HD to back up my files so if that's part of the solution, I am game.
Any advice here would be great. I really miss my Powerbook.
    Ken
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hi Ken, Welcome to the Discussions!
You will probably need to do an erase & install. This will not preserve your data so be sure to get what you can off the hard drive.
There is a fix that may work for keys out of order--and that is to run DiskWarrior on your hard drive. You can see information about DiskWarrior here: http://alsoft.com but don't just buy the web download--you need the bootable CD.
    Good Luck!

  • HELP Required in Copying  file on to a shared disk.

    Hi all,
I am seriously struggling to copy a file on to a shared disk using java code. It is a web application and i am supposed to move a file from server to a shared folder on some other system. I can ping the system on to which i need to copy the file. I can manually copy the file on to that disk from the server. But i am unable to do it through Java code. It would be very help ful, if some one can help me on this with a piece of code.
I have administrator access on the server on which application is running.
    Deepthi.

Can't you mount the remote share into the local filesystem? Say, by mapping a network drive, or using nfs/smbfs filesystem types? Then you should be able to copy the file as if it was local.

  • Other way to see shared disks without rebooting OVS

    Dear,
i'm running oracle vm server with 3 guest os'(para-virt)
when create a shared disks and shares to 3 guest os' ; i need to reboot all guest os in order to see new shared disks using (fdisk -l);but not all of the guest os could see the shared disks until i reboot the OVS. is there any command to run to avoid a reboot of the OVS.
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
Here a command for you to attach the sharable/none-sharable disks manually,
    Usage: xm block-attach <Domain> <BackDev> <FrontDev> <Mode> [BackDomain]
It can be issued under Dom0 to attach your newly created sharable disk manually without a reboot.
    e.g.xm block-attach 9 file:/OVS/running_pool/52_pvm_el5u1_x86_64/sharabledisk_again.img xvdb w! 0
Note that 9 is your DomU id,and 0 is Dom0 ID.
The command would not take effect any more after reboot,so for the permanent use, please write that info into vm.cfg as well.
    Hope that helps for you,:)
    Tristan

I have replaced my ibook hard drive but when I start up I get a folder with a flashing question mark. I have tried installing the OSX disk using the "C" key but can't get any further than the flashing "?." What do I do? What is the problem?

    Which iBook do you have?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1772?viewlocale=en_US
Which version of the OS is installed, and which version are you trying to install?
You could try starting up with Startup Manager and see if it will allow you to select the OS X install disc as the startup disk. If so, maybe you can proceed from there. I would recommend repairing the hard drive first since you are evidently having a bit of a problem with it.

  • Recently, when I "check-in" using the Yelp app, it says it had a problem sharing with Facebook. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am using the following versions:
    iOS 4.3.3
    Yelp 5.2.0
    Facebook 3400
It used to work perfectly fine.  I would check in on Yelp and simultaneously it would post my check-in on Facebook.  But, for some reason, a few days ago it stopped working.
    I've tried the following:
    - Shutdown and booted up the phone.
    - Uninstalled and reinstalled both Yelp and Facebook apps.
    - Changed the email address and passwords I use on both Yelp and Facebook.
    - Removed the Yelp application from Facebook and added it again.
In any case, none of my efforts have been successful.  When I attempt to check in, it checks in on Yelp, but then a message pops up stating "Facebook - Sorry, we had a problem sharing. Ignore or Retry".
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!  Thanks!

Since you've already done a good job of troubleshooting, try Yelp support here > http://www.yelp.com/contact?topic=support&subtopic=iphone
Make sure and tell them what you have tried that didn't work.

  • Use storage as shared disk

We have storage connected to one server using optic port. Can i make shared disk for future install Oracle Clusterware(for 2 node).thanx

I probably wouldn't use iSCSI in this manner for a production database unless I had no other choice. My biggest issue is that one more piece is added to the configuration that can fail that can affect availability. If that other host goes down, so does the shared storage that is mounted to the database server. I might do this as a short-term solution to get me immediate access to disk, but I would then immediately procure additional disk storage and get that into the configuration as soon as it arrives.

  • Windows sharing disk problem

    Hello,
I have LAN network at home in windows 7, I have a sharing disk and when I turn on the iMac I did not find my sharing disk, and only after 5 minutes I can find him. After that the disk works fine. Why It happens?
    Thanks

Sometimes it takes a while before devices on a network become visible. If you can't wait, note the IP address of the device you're looking for, and next time connect with it manually.

  • Shared Disks on AEBS - Secure Passwords - Multiple Users

I posted this on the Digital Life forum. No joy. Not sure if this is an AEBS issue or a Leopard issue.
I need to have different access rights to disks or folders on disks connected to the AEBS. One disk (or folder) is the Everyone shares disk (or folder) for Time Machine backups and shared files.
And, I need to have a separate disk (or folder) for personal information that I can access but other users cannot access.
I already tried setting permissions on the shared disks, but it will not allow me to add users. I already tried changing the AEBS from a Disk Access password to an Accounts schema, but it will not allow me to change folder permissions based on the named Accounts. (.. and I don't want to buy Leopard Server version.)
Anyone got a scheme to make this work?

Yep. You solved my problem. Thank you!
I did not go far enough.
Just in case anyone else wants to try this, some notes.
1.) I had to reformat (Partition and Erase) the disk. When making the conversion from a shared disk to accounts, it loses access to the previous data on the disk. In order to avoid losing that space, it was necessary to physically connect the drive to the computer, reformat, then reattach to the AEBSn; then set up the accounts.
2.) I had to restart the computers to connect to the new shared drive.
3.) This set up is using a separate drive (LaCie Quadra 300 gb) connected via USB to an AEBSn.
I am a happy camper. Thank you for your assistance!

  • Shared disk (SAN EVA 4400) configuration for ASM on linux RHEL5

    Hi all,
I want to install RAC database (oracle 10g on RHEL5). Now we are configurind shared storage for the both servers (nodes). In disk configuration (SAN on EVA 4400) we have created the volume group for the disk to use for ASM and present the disk group to the servers. Actually when we check the server we cannot see the disk (shared storage).
    [root@cdr-analysis01 ~]# ls /dev/cciss/ -lR
    /dev/cciss/:
    total 0
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 0 Jul 1 2009 c0d0
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 1 Jul 1 14:29 c0d0p1
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 2 Jul 1 14:29 c0d0p2
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 3 Jul 1 14:29 c0d0p3
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 4 Jul 1 2009 c0d0p4
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 5 Jul 1 14:29 c0d0p5
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 6 Jul 1 14:29 c0d0p6
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 7 Jul 1 2009 c0d0p7
    brw-r----- 1 root disk 104, 8 Jul 1 14:29 c0d0p8
(they are local disks not the shared disk)
    My questions are:
    - How to mount the disk to be seen in the server
    - How to configure the disk for ASM is there any document for this. In my knowledge the disk to use for ASM doesn't need to be formated with a file system and shouldn't see when we run the df command.
Does anybody can help me as it's very urgent for us.
    Thank you

    Hi all,
NOw the disk is presented to server. but my actual problem is how to create shared partition of this disk for the servers.
Our actual status is we have created one volume group with 500 Gb in the sun and this volume group is called vg_oradata. we will use this storage for OCR, voting disk and the databse file (ASM). A si know from documentation i have to create one shared partition for OCR, one shared partition for Voting disk and another for database.
That i want to do is creating for example :
    ocr_partition (25 Gb) : for OCR
vote_partition (25 Gb): for Voting disk
oradata_part1 (150 Gb): for database (ASM)
oradata_part2 (150 Gb): for database (ASM)
oradata_part3 (150 Gb): for database (ASM)
My problem is how to create this partition because when i'm trying to create it from Logical Volume Manager of Linux i cannot find them in to servers.
I mean i'm new in system administrator and our SAN vendors also doesn't know how to it in LInux system.
Could you help me please if possible.
My system is Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5 and i'm going to use Oracle 1Og RAC.
    Thank you

    Thank-You Jason and Changhai,

i do not have enough memory for the second node.
i am running OUL 5 2.6.9-42.0.0.0.1.ELsmp with PV

  • Image browsing very slow - iPhoto library on a shared disk image

    Hello,
I'm experiencing serious slowness when browsing images with iPhoto. I get the spinning beach ball for several seconds every time go to next image. According to the activity monitor my CPU load is close to 100% when this happens. The problems  started when I got a new camera and had to update to Photo 11 to get the RAW support. Also, I had to update to Mountain Lion to get iPhoto 11 running.
My library is on a shared disk image, and my wife and I are sharing the same library. I have increased the size of the image a couple of times as my library has grown. We have 17680 pictures in the library. Mostly RAW format.
I have tried flushing the iphoto cache and rebuilding the library. No effect. Then I  created a new library (non-shared) and that seemed to work fine. The problem seems to be related to the disk image. I don't know what to do? Is there something I could try?
I'm running OS X 10.8.4 and iPhoto 9.4.3. There is about 100 GB free space on my boot drive. Here is my hardware Overview:
      Model Name:    iMac
      Model Identifier:    iMac9,1
Processor Name:    Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:    2,66 GHz
      Number of Processors:    1
      Total Number of Cores:    2
      L2 Cache:    6 MB
      Memory:    4 GB
      Bus Speed:    1,07 GHz
    Thanks,
    Lasse

Using a disk image in the Shared folder has worked for  few that it's not a method I would advise using in any situation. Get an external HD as TD has suggested.  You'll be a lot more satisfied with the results if you do.
