Problems sharing podcast with iTunes
I'm a teacher and my students all created podcasts on different laptops. I'm trying to share them to iTunes so that I can create a DVD with all of them, but I'm running into problems. Some of them share just fine, but a couple of them share all the audio tracks, but the images don't come up in iTunes. I've tried saving them different ways and comparing ones that share with images to those that don't and I'm going crazy! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do or why this is happening!?!
Are they being shared in AAC format?

Problems testing podcast with iTunes 7
My XML feed has been validated by feedburner. I tested my podcast by trying to manually subscribe to it in iTunes 7, but it says it's not a valid podcast feed.
I've been able to successfuly watch the podcast in my browser and have succesfully watched it in iTunes by dragging it off of my desktop. Also, this is being done at work on a windows machine, not a Mac.
Any ideas?

PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)You're right, it validated fine through FeedValidator.org. And it subscribed fine though iTunes 7 on my Mac. Could your work network be using some kind of firewall or policy rule to keep employees from downloading podcasts? Podcasts can use a lot of bandwidth. Mike

I don't know how to get my GB track to my friends, some of whom will have macs and some pcs. I have "shared" it with iTunes, but then what do I do? I know I can burn it to a cd, but I just want to send them the file. I've been told I can make it a podcast and post it on my Facebook page, but I don't know how to do this either! Basically, I want to be able to send a link to the track so that foks with either macs or pcs can listen to it. Thanks!
What is your GarageBand version?
In GarageBand '11 you have the option "Share > Send Podcast to iWeb". You will have to use the software you are using to create webpages to link to that file.
In GarageBand 10.0 you can use the option "Share > SoundCloud".
If you only want a place to put the song for download, get yourself a Dropbox, see: Download Dropbox for Mac OS
In GarageBand, use "Export Song to Disk".
Then put the song into the "public" folder in your dropbox and send the link to your friends. -
Having problems getting podcast on iTunes, tried to resubmit and got an already submitted error. How can I get the podcast on iTunes?
You didn't need to get it removed: you can make any changes to a feed that you want, changing, adding or deleting episodes, and iTunes will pick them up.
However, in the present situation you have fallen over a bug in the submissions process. The workaround is changing the title; as this hasn't worked you need to change the feed URL if possible, and also you could change the contents of the 'link' tag.
If you can't get it sorted you could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking them to reinstate you (give them all the details) - their responses are a bit variable, but they may help you. -

AleHi,
Can you give more details? Are the tracks in your iTunes library. What is the source of the music? What is the iCloud status of the tracks.

IPhone 4 restarting problems when syncing with iTunes
I know been done before, just to clarify some things is that though some answers are correct to a percentage.
First one needs to try another USB and another PC or Mac for clarifying that its not a problem with the iPhone itself. I found this out when I had this problem and well I tried another USB port and working fine now.
Disabling USB ports through device manager can get results - however you may be adding additional problems - the problem is associated to the hardware of the computer (mac or pc) and this is either software related with drivers or hardware related and the USB port is stuffed - connecting any device to this port can result in failure of that device. Identifying the USB port is at fault can help you in many ways to overcome other hardware faults on your computer - seriously this isnt just about the iPhone but more to the point saving your computer from damages.
Due to many viruses and software codes - identifying if the problem is hardware or software based can be tricky, even with aid of programing benchmark programs, the only real way to know if it is hardware and not software is that doing a complete reformat - really this is the quickest and most surest way of clarifiication - you can spend days on end trying to identify where the fault is through programs and stuff and really you may not get anywhere - so reformating the computer and complete reinstall will determine if it is a hardware fault - now if it is hardware fault then it can either be the port itself, the motherboard or the power supply going to that port - so best be sure to back up everything and safegaurd all your hardware componants inside the computer as if it is a motherboard or power supply you really down want all your hardware becomming faulty due to surges or even meltdown.
Now if the iPhone is going faulty on other USB ports of other computer systems then you really need to contact your supplier if under warrenty or have it repaired - unless you personally know how to repair them. I have read a few threads here and they are archieved so really no one that I know of has covered this answer I am applying now. so if there is a failure to syncing through iPhone turning off and on then really cheack out the computer and iPhone (iPhone on other USB ports and other computers) and protect your data.I have similar problem. Played podcasts becomes UNPLAYED after synch with iTune.

Sharing music with Itunes and windows XP
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this group, but couldn't find anywhere else to ask for help!! I have searched this database, but could not find an answer that worked for my problem!
I am PC based and have several computers all running windows 2000. They all have itunes running and are very happy to share the music. I just purchased a new HP machine running windows XP and cannot get Itunes on this machine to share its music, or see any of the other machines shared music. I have read various messages about setting port 5353 and have tried this but with no success, I completely disabled my firewall but still not success? Does anyone know why XP will not see the other computers shared music or share its music? I have tried sharing the directory (with the Itunes music)on the new machine but still no success! I can go into itunes on one of my other machines and "add folder" so that the other machine see's the directory on my new machine with all the music, but I would like to share the music via Itunes? Maybe I am being naive! but it works for 2000 why not XP?
Any help would be very welcome.
Thanks GaryThanks Rachyl,
The link was how to share files, I can do that, my problem is that the itunes programs on my XP machine will not speak to or listen to the itunes programs running on any other machine (mac or windows 2000). I would like to know how to get the XP machine to communicate with the other computers and then share its music.
Many thanks Gary -
Syncing podcasts with itunes: crazy podcast count
I have an iPod 5th gen with iOS 7.1.2, syncing with iTunes 11.3.0.54.
Recently when I sync podcasts, the podcast count in iTunes keeps showing an increased number of podcasts unplayed, far more than are actually unplayed on my computer and on the device. Currently iTunes shows 61 unplayed podcasts, yet it shows 500 unplayed podcasts on the device (see attached image).
When I view podcasts on the iPod through iTunes, multiple copies of the same podcast often show up (see attached image):
Does anyone know what's going on here?
Thanks in advance,
MarkI (and many others) have the same problem. It seems that there is no solution for this at the moment.
Hope this gets fixed with upcoming updates. -
Problem sharing video with Webex
Hello,
For some times, I've got problem sharing a video (mp4, m4a, mov or wmv) by Webex Meeting, local apps from CIsco for Web Conferencing, it always crash and I have to relaunch the apps. I think i've got a conflict with a application or a plugin, but I don't know witch one. I'm using and creating video, music and working with photos as well. I'm working with a MacBook Pro with Maverick (I'm not shure if the problem began with the upgrade to Maverick) and I'm using 27.32 version of Webex Meeting.
Here's the Crash report for those of you who can read this language!
Thanks!

Potential Solution: Home Sharing issues with iTunes 10.6
TL;DR: On a hunch, I changed the power settings of the ATV to never sleep. Since then, I have not had any issues. Granted, it's only been a couple of days, but it seems to have done the trick.
Folks,
Wanted to share my experience with Home Sharing issues after upgrading to iTunes 10.6. These forums a rampant with reports of the issue, so I'll defer to the search field above if you don't know what I am talking about. In short: iTunes 10.6 seems to have busted Home Sharing.
For those who do, here's what I found:
For some reason, is saw a very large number of established sessions from my Apple TV (ATV) into port 3689 on my Mac. This is the port that ATV uses to query iTunes to see what's available via Home Sharing (e.g.: what movies, songs, pictures, etc are available for display on the ATV).
A sniffer cap and some observation of the power indicator on the ATV indicated that while it was sleeping, the ATV was querying iTunes. It would power on for a sec (wake on LAN, maybe?), issue some queries, then sleep.
When this happened, the TCP sessions created were never town down. As such, I would eventually see 200+ established sessions on port 3689. I don't know exactly how many it took to make this happen, but when I saw this, iTunes stopped accepting new connections.
Of course, bouncing iTunes would remedy the issue for a while, but it would return.
On a hunch, I changed the power settings of the ATV to never sleep. Since then, I have not had any issues. Granted, it's only been a couple of days, but it seems to have done the trick.
I would be interested to hear if it works for others.
Happy viewing,
ChrisThanks for posting this.
I've been searching for an option of how to approach this problem.
I picked up the new AppleTV when it was released, but it has made iTunes fairly useless from a Home Sharing standpoint.
I also observed the massive number of TCP connections being opened against iTunes, but never closed.
As expected, I could manually kill a few of these connections, and then could connect again, even without closing iTunes.
I performed most of my testing with Windows 7, but while troubleshooting I had the same issue with iTunes on an old Mac Mini I had sitting around.
I will try your solution, which makes a lot of sense, but it would be nice if Apple fixed the real problem.
Thanks again. -
IPhone 4 will not sync Podcasts with iTunes.
I've tried to sync the Podcasts from iTunes to the iPhone both ways; via WiFi and plugging in but neither works. All other functions seem to work via iTunes, syncing apps, photos, etc but not the podcasts.
This is the Apple document that discusses that problem -> 'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod
Are you connecting your iPhone to your computer differently since the problem started? If you are, try plugging it directly into the USB port on the back of the computer.
If the problem started after updating iTunes or the security software on your computer, you may want to try ruling the security software out. Here's an Apple document to help you with that -> iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues. -
Podcasts with iTunes under iOS 5.0.1, on an iPhone 3GS
So after this upgrade, podcasts that I download into iTunes play at about 1/2 speed and they should echo-y, and like they are under water.
Does not matter how the podcast is loaded - whether as new one synched in from my computer, or if downloaded directly to the phone.
Also - the new podcast play interface is not nearly as useful as the prior one - there is not control for the speed as with iTunes under iOS 4, and there is not 30 sec back up button, which I found really really useful.
Honestly, I had to be the crank that bashes Apple. But I've had a lot of other problems with iOS 5.0.1 on both my phone and my iPad. It appears this new operating system was rushed out, with poor QC and lousy compatibility checks. When will a "5.0.2" come along to implement some patches?Found the problem for me and solved it by changing the speed of playback: http://answers.oreilly.com/topic/1164-iphone-podcasts-all-sound-like-they-have-e cho/

The following steps will recreate the SC Info folder if it is unusable.

However, I can see it on another macbook with maverick installe on it.
the apple tv 3 and the 2 macbooks are connected on the same networ. The apple tv3 and the mackbook with OS 10.6.8 are even directly connected with a a cable on the same router.

The short of it all is that iTunes and/or Mac OS X Mavericks has broken some functionality in IPv6 or how iTunes home sharing is using it (I am leaning towards the latter as the iTunes team has a very bad habit of releasing bugs in the past).
Disabling IPv6 will also fix this issue with iTunes 11.1.2+ on Windows. -
Problem uloading podcast to iTunes: "this feed has no episodes"
Hey guys,
I have been trying to upload my podcast to iTunes.
The RSS feed of the show is this: http://syn.org.au/not_used/2662
When I entered this into the iTunes page it said "this feed has no episodes."
So I went to the website www.feedburner.com and followed the instructions.
They gave me a new feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/org/topfiveblank
When I entered this the same message appeared.
What should I do?IngmarHerzog wrote:
If I re-uploaded the episodes to the original RSS feed without the spaces would the feed be recognised by iTunes?
No, because the feed is not formatted as a podcast feed (though it's a start!). You have to construct a feed which complies to the format demonstrated in the page I linked to, or use a podcast creation program or service to construct the feed for you.
I can't advise on hosting service. Be careful with free ones: they have to get their money somehow and it often involves adverts being added. Media files hosted this way sometimes turn up in web pages offering playing or download, and this won't work: the hosting has to offer unencumbered direct access to the feed and media files.
