Problems signing into itunes store account from windows vista

I have recently downloaded the latest version of itunes for a new computer running Windows Vista. I already have an apple ID account to use with the store and have been able to access this on other computers, but every time I try to sign in on the new computer it has an error message that the "network connection has timed out". I have searched for help for this, which appears to be a common issue, and all the recommended solutions like checking firewall settings have not helped as I am still unable to sign in. My internet connection is fine, and I am able to access the store itself, just not my account.
If anyone could help with this problem I would be very grateful.

Excellent. If you ever want to uninstall that trial Norton, keep in mind that you need a special removal tool from Symantec. Simply uninstalling it via Add/Remove Programs does NOT delete it from your PC. It really is horrible software.

  • Can't sign into iTunes Store since upgrading to 10.6.0.40 on Windows 7.

The iTunes 10.6.0.40 upgrade will not allow me to sign into the iTunes Store on my Windows 7 laptop.  I did a uninstall and reinstall following the technote titled "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7" from the Apple support site.  On my home desktop still running 10.5 I believe, I have no problem signning into the store.  Any suggestions anyone?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, sign-in and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

What you need is a file named Domain.sites (iWeb 2) or Domain.sites2 (iWeb 3).  Copy it from your laptop to your other computer at home.
It's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.  Place it in the same folder on the other computer.
All the files for the site are contained in that file/package.  After editing you will have to publish the changes to your hosting server.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
To open your domain file in Lion or later or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • HT5622 Why is my ipad suddenly showing my husbands apple id as the option to sign into itunes store?

Why is my ipad suddenly showing my husbands apple id as the option to sign into itunes store? I've tried plugging into computer and synching but it is still showing his id when I try to go to store on ipad? How do I attach my id back to the ipad?

Go into the itunes app. Go to featured. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. Log out. Then login with your id. Chances are he used your ipad for something and logge into his own account.
    Hope this helped!

  • Logging into iTunes Store Account

I wonder if someone can help? I've seen similar problems on here but slightly different to mine. I've already tried emailing Apple support but no joy!
For the last couple of weeks I've unable to access my iTunes store account on my laptop.
When I try to sign in and I enter my login details (which are correct cos I'm still able to access via iPhone)The system appears to be loading as the black and grey is box at the top is moving but then nothing happens and there are no error messages.
When I run diagnostics it tells me that a secure connection to iTunes is unsuccessful and not in safe mode and that I'm not an administrator but yet I'm the only person to have a user account on this laptop so therefore I am the administrator. It also says the connection timed out! I've tried uninstalling and re-installing which in itself took 3 weeks as for some reason I'm not been able to access any Apple related websites either! Even now I can only view certain Apple websites but yet any other sites apart from Apple seem to be fine. I've checked my firewall which says that iTunes is ticked in the exceptions box and also that the SSL3 and TLS1 options are selected in advanced Internet Options.
Any other suggestions would greatly appreciated!

When I run diagnostics it tells me that a secure connection to iTunes is unsuccessful and not in safe mode and that I'm not an administrator
    Then you're probably not.
but yet I'm the only person to have a user account on this laptop so therefore I am the administrator.
Not necessarily, no. There is an account in Windows actually titled "administrator", distinct from your user account. Your user account may or may not have administrator privileges, depending on what was granted when the account was created.
a secure connection to iTunes is unsuccessful
That usually suggests some sort of firewall, privacy filter, or antivirus/antispyware utility is blocking the connection. This block may be in software on your laptop or in any router through which your Internet connection runs. From your description of your other problems, it definitely sounds like some sort of firewall to me.

  • I am unable to sign into itunes store

I have downloaded itunes onto laptop with windows 8 and it is running great, however when I go into itunes store and try to sign in, it keeps saying appleID has not been used before in the Itunes store and I need to review my account. To be fair, I haven't used it in the store yet, but when I click on review it takes me to the page for setting up an apple ID which I don't need to do! I have checked account online and as I am posting this, it shows username and password are valid as I have to sign in to type this!
Any ideas? Have I missed something?

It just keeps trying, nothing happens or sometimes it times out. I switched laptops so it isn't the same laptop that I used to activate my Ipad with. I tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing but still no luck.I even deleted Itunes and then downloaded Itunes again but still unable to connect to the I tunes store on its own or while syncing the Ipad. Not sure what steps to take other than going back to the old laptop.

  • I am having problems signing into iTunes, keeps asking for my ID&PW over and over.

I am unable to log into iTunes store and download songs. My connections are ok, and I got into the store last week. I can sign in...but when I got to purchase a song, it ask me to verify my acct, So I give it my id and pw, wait a few sec, then the window comes back asking the same thing over and over. Any help would be appreciated. Emails me direct, [email protected]

Only one apple ID. Password is correct. It keeps prompting me in an endless loop anyway.
If I enter the password one time, then click cancel on all dozen+ additional prompts, then I can finally proceed to check for app updates and available TV show subscriptions.
I used to have to type the password exactly twice because it hasn't been storing the password correctly for some time (there are posts elsewhere about cookie storage issues, none of which helped me).
But after the upgrade to iTunes 11.0.3 (42) 64-bit (on Mac OS X 10.8.3), I now have the problem in SPADES -- dozens of prompts, because each time I satisfy one, I get two more, until I give up and cancel them all.
This is not user error.  It is a bug that has been made worse by the latest iTunes.

  • Problem signing into iTunes

I have been unable to sign into iTunes the last 2 days.  It's telling me it's unavailable.  I thought maybe I was entering my password incorrectly, so I reset it and I still can't get in.  Trying to backup my iphone and I'm going to loose some stuff on my phone if I can't get in.  Help!?!?

    Hi Redndahead,
When troubleshooting iTunes Store connection issues, the following articles provide the best information:
First, try signing out of your account in Settings > iTunes & App Store. Once signed out, go ahead and sign back in.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
If the above did not resolve your issue, refer to the following:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
    - Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking on Check for Update in your device's Summary page in iTunes.
    - Check and verify that you are in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you are on a 3G capable device, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
    - Check to make sure you have an active internet connection. You can check the User Guide for your device for help with connecting to the internet.
    - Check to make sure other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the internet.
    - Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router
    - If the issue still persists see, iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connectionsor iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Can't log into iTunes store account

So I can no longer log into my iTunes store account. When I try to log in, I get an error message in red letters saying:
    FieldName: null. java.lang.Exception
I have tried resetting my password mutliple times with no luck. I can log into my Apple Store account, I can log into the forums (obviously since I am able to post on these forums), yet iTunes will not let me log in.
Anybody else experience this as well or know how to fix it? Thanks in advance for your help

I am experiencing the same exact problem you are. What gives? I never messed around with my login information and I've always gotten in before. But now I can't.
I've also done the password reset, and still it won't let me log in with the new password.
This is the same red error message I get as well:
    FieldName: null. java.lang.Exception
Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks.

I suddenly can' sign into my Amazon account.  Everything else is okay.  I can sign in on my desktop, but not my iPad.  Anyone ever had this issue?  How can I fix it?

To get rid of "pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet", click on Safari in the Menu bar, and select Preferences. Next select Extensions. Delete all of them. Restart Safari.
The first step in addressing the black screen is an SMC reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
