Problems singing into iChat with my Apple ID.

iChat won't allow me to sign in using my Apple ID. Everything else works fine but the apple ID won't work. It's telling me that the password is incorrect when it isn't at all. is anyone else having this problem?

So in the iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts you have a Blue Globe ?
The Account name Ends with @mac.com ?
The name and password will let you sign in to your iDisk and Mac Web pages ?
It works it Mail as an email ID and Account name ?
Using the FAQ I posted above, you can sign in to the current MobileMe pages ?
In Checking that same name (also with a Blue globe) in the Keychain it has the password that works to log you with Mail or to the other options I listed above ?
OR
The name has @me.com at the end as the name was gained from the current MobileMe pages that Apple have, that replaced the @mac service ?
The other info above still applies about being able to Check it in different Apps and the Keychain.

  • HT4306 Problem logging into itune with valid apple ID and password

I am able to loing to my account in apple.com and support site (this site) but cannot login to itune. Why? On accessing the My Account Home page I am presented some support agreement which I no idea what the **** is that.

Solved the problem. I had to allow cookies for safari and it run - as here: Re: itunes keeps asking for my apple id password. it's NOT entered incorrectly.

  • Problem using iPad mirroring with an Apple TV and 4:3 Projector

I'm a teacher and I've been using my iPad 2 in the classroom for about a year and a half. I would use Apple's VGA Adapter to connect to my projector, which worked fine. I just didn't like being tied down, and the dock connector would come loose very easily and lose connection to the projector, which interrupted the flow of the lesson.
So this summer, I got an Apple TV and a projector with an HDMI port so I could start using Airplay Mirroring to get the iPad screen onto the projector. But I'm having trouble with the aspect ratio. Forgive my drawing, but the genius at the Apple store had a hard time understanding my explanation, so I'm hoping this will help show what I mean.
My projector (ViewSonic DLP PJD5133) can be set to either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio (4:3, 800x600 is the native resolution). My projector screen in the front of the classroom is 4:3, so when the projector is set to 4:3, the image fills up the screen (which is what I want - it needs to be as big as possible so the entire class can see it clearly; plus it means all the output pixels are being used). When the projector is set to 16:9, the image is letterboxed (not ideal unless I'm showing a widescreen video or image).
The Apple TV's native aspect ratio is widescreen, and the iPad's native aspect ratio is 4:3, so if you use Airplay mirroring on a widescreen TV, the Apple TV will pillarbox the image (add horizontal black bars on each side), so that the image will not be stretched/distorted. (I know that it will show widescreen videos and a few widescreen-ready apps without the pillarbox, but the apps I use in class - Keynote, Noteshelf, etc. - don't fall in that category). The effect on my projector screen is a tiny 4:3 image taking up half the area it would have taken if I had used the VGA connection.
So in the Apple TV, I went to Settings>Audio & Video>TV resolution, and chose 800x600 60Hz (the max 4:3 resolution for my projector). Since the Apple TV is natively widescreen, it seems to accomplish this change be stretching the image vertically; but it basically works because the Apple TV home screen fills up the projector screen. However, when I turn on Airplay Mirroring on my iPad, the image does not fill up the screen. The Apple TV still puts a pillarbox on the image, so I end up with a distorted, square image of my iPad screen. It's the right height - the max 600 pixels for my projector - but it's not as wide as it should/could be.
Is there a setting that I'm missing? I understand that the Apple TV has to stretch its home screen image to accommodate the 4:3 resolution, but I think it should be smart enough to realize that if it's receiving a 4:3 image from the iPad and sending it out to a 4:3 TV, it doesn't need to pillarbox the image.
Before you answer - this is not a problem with the projector settings, and my Apple TV is not defective. You could simulate what's happening on your Apple TV, even if it's hooked up to a widescreen TV. In the Apple TV settings, change the TV Resolution to 800x600 as mentioned above (or any other of the 4:3 options). Now go to the Apple TV home screen, and note the amount of space the image is taking up on your screen (on a widescreen TV, it will be pillarboxed, and it will look like it's been squished horizontally). Then turn on Airplay mirroring on the iPad, and you'll see that the iPad image does not have the same width as the Apple TV home screen and it looks square/squished.
Also, while my projector does have a zoom function, it will not magnify the small iPad mirror image correctly (if I were to leave the Apple TV and projector on a 16:9 setting). It cuts off the top and sides. But even if it didn't crop the image, it's a digital zoom, so that option still won't fix the fact that I'm not getting a full 800x600 image on the projector. The same problem would apply if I were to move the projector farther away from the screen (so that the widescreen image takes up the full height of the projector screen, while spilling off the sides). I'll still have a lower resolution image, which isn't ideal since I'm often showing text on the screen through Keynote. Also, widescreen videos wouldn't fit on the screen, and I can't move the projector easily because it's fixed to the ceiling.
Sorry for the long explanation. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate some insight.

We have the same problem, and not only with ipads. Macbook Air is doing something similar. it can only use airplay with 1080 and 720 resolution, so the image is squeezed on a 4:3 projector. We use AppleTV 3 and Mountain Lion OS. We use ATVPRO from Kanex.
Apple must get its act together and fix this, they promise gold and green forests, but nothing works.
    DO SOMETHING!

  • Error - 8:  iChat with the Apple Robots, but not to others

    All,
Hope someone has some idea how to resolve this (Ralph?). It's our old friend, Error - 8.
But here's the weird part: I am able to video/audio conference with appleu3test 01, 02, abd 03. My friend can similarly connect to those robots.
When we try to iChat with each other, however, I get the error listed below.

    All,
Thanks for your input. And thanks especially to James Weston, Jeremy Varner, and Defcom, for kindly allowing me to test my iChat with them (and in the case of Jeremy, in the middle of the night).
After working pretty hard on the issue, I resolved my inability to iChat. In my case, the solution to Error-8 turned out to be pretty simple.
As described elsewhere on this board, the issue was open ports in my router. Instead of hassling with port forwarding, however, I 1) updated my firmware; and 2) once updated to the latest version, I activated UPnP. YMMV.
That first bit was important, as selecting UPnP on my old firmware apparently didn't work. Once updated, however, I had no problem chatting with the testers. Also, as descrbed elsewhere, don't put much stock in your ability to iChat with the robots. Use the live testers. The ones I chatted with were helpful and extremely accomadating.
    Good luck all.

  • I can't log into ichat with my .me or .mac account..help?

I am on the ichat screen and it is telling me the user id or password is incorrect and I see from previous discussions that the password needs to be short.  But mine is 6 characters no numbers.  Is this the problem?  Under .me is just won't connect me.  Under .mac it is stating the AOL username...issue.  Not sure how to get on.  I log on on my laptop with no issue?  Any help would be great. Thanks

    Hi,
You can use an AIM (Or AOL) as AIM stands for AOL Instant Messenger.
Apple have an agreement with AIM that @Mac.com and Mobileme/iCloud (*@me.com) Names are also valid AIM Screen Names.
However the Passwords must be kept to 16 characters or less due to the limits on the AIM servers.
Other Apple IDs are not Valid Screen Names unless you specifically Register them with AIM - OR they belong to another Service which iChat can access and are valid as Chat names with that Service.

  • HT204053 singing into iWeb with my "member name"

Hi, i'm trying to publish an iWeb wok, so i need to sign into my MobileMe account. However, it doesn't ask for my Apple ID, instead it asks for my Member Name, which obviously isn't my Apple ID, because my Apple ID isn't accepted. What is a member name? How can i find mine?

You cannot publish to MobileMe as the service was terminated on 1 July and its entire contents have been deleted. If you had a website with a web.me.com address it is no longer available.
If you want to publish your web site you will need to find another hosting service - there are plenty to choose from. If you have iWeb '09 or above you can publish directly to it using the FTP option in the Publish pane: with earlier versions you will have to publish to a local folder and upload using an FTP program such as Cyberduck or Transmit.

  • HT204053 why can't I sign into icloud with my Apple ID?

I have a valid Apple ID but it keeps saying I can't sign into icloud.

    HI,
The most common cause at the moment is a repaired or refurbished Mac missing the serial number on the Logic board.
Use the Apple Icon Menu > About this Mac.
Near the top is the current OS version listed
Click this line twice (Once to Build number and again to Serial number)
If it is missing you need and Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider to sort this for you.

  • Why can't i sign into messages with my apple id

Whenever I try to sign into messages, it pops up an error saying that my id can't be used.

    HI,
The most common cause at the moment is a repaired or refurbished Mac missing the serial number on the Logic board.
Use the Apple Icon Menu > About this Mac.
Near the top is the current OS version listed
Click this line twice (Once to Build number and again to Serial number)
If it is missing you need and Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider to sort this for you.

  • Help signing into ichat with a different account

    ?????prease.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
    How Different ?
Just changing to a Different AIM Screen Name ?
    Registering an Jabber ID ?
    Adding a GoogleTalk name ?
Lets presume you have your new Screen Name.
(An Apple MobileMe Name will have to have a password of 16 characters or Less)
Go to the word iChat in the Menu Bar and click on it.
Select Preferences In the drop down.
Choose accounts (icon) in the Preferences Pane (it will open at the last one you used)
In Accounts there is a list down the left (It may only have Bonjour in it)
    At the Bottom is a + sign/Button
    Click this button
In the new pane is a drop down at the first item
Choose the option Relevant to your new Screen Name (Either AIM, @Mac.com, MobileMe that will log in to the AIM Servers or Google or Jabber depending on your Jabber ID)
The other Text field may be filled in (If your Address Book has your Details)
With the Jabber option some other fields appear to confirm the Server name (usually the bit after the @ symbol) and the Port (And if SSL is used)
Make any changes required based on the info you have. (the most common default for Jabber servers is for port 5223 and SSL On
GoogleTalk does not follow the same Name convention for it's server name so it is a standalone option and the server and port as handled by the iChat Software.
Your ID though must be as it it is shown when you log in to the web Mail Page (As in either [email protected] or [email protected])

  • I am having trouble logging into iTunes with my Apple ID. I press sign in and nothing happens.  Help....

Just got an iPad. Have created an Apple ID but can't log into the apps store.  Press sign in and nothing happens.  Any advice?

Have you just created the Apple ID? If so it's possible you may need to activate it after receiving an email? Have you checked for an activation email? I can't be sure if it does send one or not as did mine ages ago.
