  • Problem starting Essbase 11.1.2.1

Hi. I have the next problem.
When I tried start Essbase, opmn have an error. In log file I see this:
    ESSBASE / Error (1320022)
Attempt to find an Agent instance corresponding to arborpath [u01/app/hyperion/user_projects/epmsystem2/EssbaseServer/essbaseserver1] failed.
Looking essbase logs, I found this:
    [ESSBASE0] [NET-17] [ERROR] [16][] [ecid:1316176939328,0] [tid:1] Host Name Not Available
I installed Essbase under Sun Solaris 10. "hostname" command returns right hostname.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

Finally we can start the server doing a couple of things:
    1. Edit all the entries in the ss repository with the all ip and changed to the new one
    2. edit the /etc/hosts file and adding a fully qualified name for the essbase server (epm-essbase.sabeco.es)The worrying part is you have IP entries in the shared services registry, it shouldn't really be configured that way.

  • Problem starting MemoryAnalyzer in linux

I am trying to run under Linux, and I have been unable to get it to work.  When I try to run the script (or just run the java command directly), it runs for a second, then exits with no output to stdout or stderr.
    Commands I've tried:
    java -Xms512m -jar plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.0.v20070606.jar
    java -XX:+AggressiveHeap -jar plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.0.v20070606.jar
    java -version
    java version "1.6.0_01"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_01-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_01-b06, mixed mode)

    Linux 2.6.9-55.9.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Jun 19 07:44:28 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I've tried both the linux and linux x86 64 versions of the application with exactly the same results.  I have been unable to find any log file or any other output to diagnose the problem.  Is there a log file I'm missing, or is there some way to get more debug output so I can figure out how to make this work?  Thanks very much!

    okay, so...progress.
i had missed the log file because it was .log and didn't show up with my default ls.

  • Problems starting AdminServer WLS 10 on linux

    Hello All,
We have upgraded our environment to platform 10.2 and we have now problems starting the AdminServer on that environment after upgrading the database (oracle 10g).
Errors indicate that the boot.properties -file is not correct. I've tried to remove the one from AdminServer security -directory and deleted the ldap -directory, but these doesn't help.
What should I do and in which order to make the server start again ?

I recommend a support case. You have not provided enough detail here and they are best equipped to handle these types of issues.

  • Unable to start essbase app

    Hi,
I'm having problems starting an essbase application. all the services are running, everything looks ok. But when trying to start the app or any of the databases of that app it gives an error ' unable to load database'
Version is 11.1.1.1 and it's on unix
Any help will be verymuch appreciated

    Hi,
Can you start other applications, if so then you might have an orphaned esssvr process.
If all the apps are stopped and you see a esssvr process running you will need to kill it.
    Cheers

  • Problem with Essbase add-in 9.2.1 and office 2010.

    Hi all,
we have a problem with Essbase add in 9.2.1 and office 2010.
Every time when a user opens Excel a new (additionally) euntry in the ad-on menue appears.
Indeed what happens is, that the add-in is loaded n-times.
At the first start of excel one time, second two times and so on...
    Thtas's very annoying.
Can someone confirm this issue or even better know a workaround.
(A way we have found so far to ease the pain a bit -well only temporary- is to disable the ad-in, close Excel and start it again.
However with every new start of execel the issues begins again.
But that's not a solution you can recommand to the end user.)
    Any help is welcome.
    Thank you in advance!
    Andre

Have a read of the following on Oracle Support - Support for Office 2010 in Essbase Excel Add-In and Smart View [ID 1191235.1]

I beleive your "ORACLE_HOME" is incorrect!
    This may work better:
    export ORACLE_SID=test
    ORAENV_ASK=NO
    . /usr/local/bin/oraenv
    ORAENV_ASK=YES
The above will set your environment variables correctly.

    HI..
    Shutdown the standby database, copy the controlfile to the locations you want, edit the pfile and add the locations of the controlfiles in contfrol_files parameter , save it and startup nomount pfile='location';
    Then mount the standby database and create spfile from pfile;

  • Problems starting Designer 6.5 of Oracle 8i in Personal Ed. 8i in PC

    HI YOU!
    Can you help me?
I have problems starting Oracle Designer 6.x in Windows 98 and Personal Edition 8i.
I'm not in a LAN and I don't have the client installed.
I don't know the user systems for Designer, I prooved with the SYSTEM anad SYS user but I cant access to the product.
Do I requiere the client?. Do I require connecting to the server Database?.
    Any idea?
    THANKS!
    DAVE.

I had this problem the best thing to do is make sure you have the Blackdown.org JDK116_v5 for Linux installed. Then:
    JAVA_HOME=/somedirectory/jdk116_v5
    export JAVA_HOME
This fixed the problem for me and I was able to run runIns.sh.

  • Problems starting the http server

I have problems starting 9ias http server. I issue:
    /u09/ora9ias/infra/opmn/bin> opmnctl startall
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...
Request partial success -- 1 of 4 processes started.
and the HTTP server does not start.
If I go to the enterprise manager, the only service started is Single Sign On.
If I try to enter to the HTTP server it gives me the following error:
An error was encountered while loading page. Failed to initialize configuration management user session.. Repository access failed Root Cause: Password could not be retrieved. Password could not be retrieved
The iasdb is already started and working.
Any clues what can be going wrong??
    help is greatly appreciated.

Jorge, I suspect you've already fixed this problem. But if not, I have a standard operating procedure for this. Here's the gist of it, let me know if you need more detail.
    1. shutdown the opmn layer (opmnctl stopall)
    2. determine if the httpd.pid file exists (it's in the Apache/logs directory on linux)
    3. delete the .pid file if it's there
    4. if not, or if there's still a problem, tail the error_log for info
    5. try to start the httpd (dcmctl start -ct ohs)
    6. still a problem? ps -auxw | grep httpd
    7. kill off the process(es)
    8. try again to start up with dcmctl command in step 5
I can usually get it going at this point. If not, I have to do a reboot, which has always worked. Don't forget to shutdown the emctl and webcachectl if you're rebooting.
Hopefully this helps. It took a lot of learn-as-you-go for us to get this procedure. I'm sure the pros will role their eyes! :-)

    You could try :-
    1. Execute the script “catalog_schema_drop.sql” under $HYPERION_HOME\products\Essbase\EssbaseStudio\server\database\common\MSSQLServer to drop the existing Catalog tables
    2. Bring up the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and login as sa
    a.Expand the Databases node
b.Expand the “epmesbStudio” under the Database node
    c.Expand the “Security” node
d.Right click on “Schemas” under the database “epmesbStudio” to bring up the “Schema” dialog:
e.From the Schema dialog, enter ”epmEsbStudio” for both Schema name and Schema owner, then click OK to create the schema.
    f. Verify that the schema “epmEsbStudio” is created:
    3. Expand the Users node under Security: (you should see the user “epmEsbStudio” listed under Users)
    a. Bring up the user Properties for “epmEsbStudio” by right click on “epmEsbStudio” then select Properties
    b. From the user Properties dialog, you can see the Default schema is dbo. Change the default schema to “epmEsbStudio”, which is the schema that we create in the above steps by click on the list button to bring up the Select Schema dialog:
    c. Click on the Brows button from the Select Schema dialog, and select “epmEsbStudio” from the list and click OK
d.The selected schema should place in the Select Schema dialog. Click OK on the Select Schema dialog:
    e. Now the schema “epmEsbStudio” should appeared as Default schema on the user Properties dialog.
    f. Now make sure the Database role membership “db_owner” is selected (select this option if it is not already select).
    g. Click OK to save the settings
    4. Bring up the Query editor from the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio by click on the “New Query” and make sure the
5.Disconnect the query editor to any database by right click on the query editor select Connection To Disconnect
6.Connect the query editor to the database epmEsbStudio by right click on the query editor select Connection To Connect to bring up the Connection to Database Engine dialog
    7. From the Connection to Database Engine dialog provide the SQL Server name, Authentication type, and enter “epmEsbStudio” as the user name and provide the password for this user, then click on the Options button, then select the Connection Properties tab and enter “epmesbStudio” for Connection to database. Click on the Connect button (you should be able to connected without any error or warnings)
    8. Type the following statement in the query editor, and execute it. The query should be executed without any problem.
    Create table Test (
    col1 varchar(5)
    go
    9. Verify the table is created under the “epmEsbStudio” Schema:
    10.Delete the table “Test”
    11.Start the Essbase Studio Server
    The properties file should read
    Example in server.properties
    catalog.db=epmesbStudio.epmEsbStudio
    catalog.username=epmesbStudio
You can change "epmEsbStudio" to match your database being used for studio

  • Error starting essbase

    Hello.
I am installing hyperion in two machine:
    Machine 1.
In this machine I installed Foundation and I have started all the service without problem.
    Machine 2.
In this machine I installed Essbase but when I try to start the essbase service the sentence show a message error:
    ./startEssbase.sh
    Starting Essbase.properties
Cannot write on the specified log file. Make sure the path exists and you have write permissions.
    Finish Essbase.properties
In this machine I have two users, the user oracle for the rdbms database, and the user weblogic for the essbase database.
Do you have some idea about the folder with the problem? The oraInventory is ok.
    Regards,
    Milton

Is it unix or windows environment, please make sure the admin id should have administrator privilizes, if it's unix, chmod 777 to Essbase complete folder/files.
I am not sure how you configured essbase, is shared services user given correctly...if its windows server try to reboot the server then start & chk the logs

  • Unable to Start OC4J in Linux

    Hi
We tried to start oc4j in Linux using following command
    [oracle@fa2220 setup]$ oc4j -start
    Starting OC4J from /dbfiles/home/oracle/obiee_home/OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home ...
It is stopping at this stage without any errors.
Linux Version: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3 (Tikanga)
We tried to see what is being done in the process, so we did strace and found the following:
    strace -p 15924
Process 15924 attached - interrupt to quit
    futex(0xb7675bd8, FUTEX_WAIT, 15925, NULL
And we checked the netstat –a | grep 23791 (default ORMI port) and found it is listening on this port.
But we can not access oc4j.
    Can someone please help?
    PS

I managed to solve the problem by setting the "Load All System JAR Files during OC4J Startup" in the "Embeded OC4J Server Preferences" under "Global > Startup".
