Problems starting iChat

Whenever I open iChat, it connects to AIM fine, and loads my buddy list properly. The video and audio chat icons do not load however. The colored pinwheel comes up and spins for 4 to 5 minutes before the video and audio icons appear and I am able to use the program. It happens every time I open the app. Is this normal?

yes, i do leave it on overnight...i have determined that isn't the problem tho. whenever i open ichat, this appears in the console log:

i reinstalled ichat from the Mac OS install disk, and then ran the system updates to bring iChat up to the current version. Now, when the spinning pinwheel goes away, the ichat window will not resopnd to any click-actions such as selecting a buddy, or scrolling down the list.
i use ichat frequently, and this has becom a big problem.

Problem starting ichat

After having some major issues with back up and OSX system I got things back to normal, well almost.
iChat is not starting up properly .... I get the "getting starting window", just like a new account.
Also there is a message at the same time ......
(NSinternalinconsistencyException: AIM service not available)
after that it just hangs.
I guess I have erased some settings or more. But how do I get things back to normal?
any ideas?

Delete com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist
This is in Users/(your account)/Library/Preferences
It will ask you to go through the Start Up Screens again but should clear any problem.
If that does not work it is your Keychain that is at fault.

Problem with IChat AV 3.1.8 (v445)

I am unable to us the audio/video component of IChat. In my buddy list it shows who is available and I am able to IM but cannot connect the audio/video. My ISight window opens and says "Waiting for response" then "Starting IChat." Then it stops and a window pops up with the message "There was a communication error." The details are:

When someone else initiates the IChat. I hit the accept button, but get another "communication error."
Help! I really would love to see my grandchildren!

I was able to connect with defcom1, but when I tried someone else I was back to square one.
I gather from reading things that there are some port or something that can be opened, but to be honest the explanations seem very complicated. Is there any thing that I can do that is written in simple step by step language?
How do I figure out whether the problem is on my end or the other?
What I really don't understand is why this was all working fine a couple of months ago, but now I have a problem.
I have always been a big Apple fan. Things have always worked so easily, but this is very frustrating.

Auto Start IChat program at System Start?

Is there a way to automatically start IChat when the system starts? IE: Auto Login so I don't have to "Manually" start it each time?

NOTE for some.
It is worth noting that on some (Slower) Macs that, as the Start Up procedure actually connects to the Network quite late in the order of things, you may have problems.
The Mac will in fact start to launch apps listed in the Login Items before the whole Start Up procedure has finished.
This can mean if iChat is the only item or high on the list in Login Items that it can not find the Network and Log In before Start Up has finished.
You may have to delete iChat from it's position in the list as it is not drag-able and re-enter it to have it later in the order of things.

Problem starting a Video Chat

I'm having a problem starting a video chat with someone. They also have a mac, but they just went to college and are using a new wireless network. Here is the error I'm getting, I appreciate any helo I can get.

Problem with iChat changing my custom away message after 30 minutes

Lately, I've been having a big problem with iChat changing any custom away message that I put up to "Away" after 30 minutes or so. Is there anything I can do to make it stop? Another issue I'm having is that sometimes when people on my buddy list change their away message, it doesn't show up on iChat unless I go offline and then sign back on. Any idea why it's doing that, and what I can do to get it to stop?

Does it say you are set to Go to Away when you log off/QUit iChat ?

Tabs only open in a new window. Ctl T opens a new window NOT a new tab help-last update this problem started 2 days ago. How do I set FF back to open tabs in 1 window?
There is no plus sign and going into optins and changing settings has not worked. I have uninstall FF and reinstall-keeping my personalization-and that was no help.
Right clicking on FF Icon to open a new tab, or going up to FF drop down tab and clicking on new tab both do not work.
Help everything opens a new window not a new tab. there seems to be no way to reset this or to chose a different optin. I just downloaded new tabs at end addon and it didn't do a thing.

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

I'm having problem starting logical host for eGate 5.1.0 on Linux platform, and I cant see where is the problem lies. Is there anybody here that can give me some hint or guide?

I have been using an iPhone since I lost interest with Nokia phones. I fell in love with Apple's innovation, design and technology. However, I am beginning to lose interest wth the product as well.
I have an iPhone 5, my phone's battery can only last an hour and the phone is 7 month old. The problem started last week while I was in Argentina. I had a bad holiday due to this, as I could not make use of the technology because my phone was off most of the time and I had nowehere to charge except to go back to the hotel. I could not even share pictures on Instagram. Has anyone ever experienced such a problem? If so, why and how was the problem fixed? I am starting to engage in a debate that I have been trying to avoid with my friends. They say that Samsung is striving and I now tend to agree, and if the problem persists I will gladly join the Samsung family. They seem to make reliable phones. Sadly, I never experienced this problem with iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4S.

If you're in a country where there's an apple shop (unfortunately not mine), go check it and ask the employee about it: he's gonna check your Iphone on a "device"
I've got an iphone 5 and it's working very well with me but I have to admit that its battery lasts (slower) than my Ipad 2.
Still i can help with some tips that may improve your iohone's battery by an hour in addition (hopefully):
- close all apps by multitasking....
- do NOT keep the brightness to the max
Believe me you're gonna regret changing your phone to a samsung

Everything was working fine and transferring successfully and then this problem started to occur all of a sudden. My music is managed manually and always has. I looked online for a solution and they all involve resyncing the library and unchecking voice memos. Is there a way to resolve this issue without having to resync my music or reinstall itunes?

Have you powered off and then back on the router?
Have you done anything to the router recently like changed a setting?

The discs that come with your Mac are "machine specfic" and cannot be used on another Mac.

I am having problems with my outlook 2011. While i am able to check and SEND email on all my other devices ( Ipad, iphone, Macbook), I am unable to do so with my iMac. This problem started suddenly and the error message i get is error 5.7.8. Please Help
