Problems Starting Oracle 11g Express

First, sorry for my English.
My problem is this, after a successful installation of Oracle, I double click on Get Started With Oracle Database 11g Express Edition and opens with Mozilla Firefox url:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4950
Firefox tells me Problem loading page.
It is the first time I use Oracle and do not know what to do. If you can tell me some troubleshooting steps.
My OS is windows vista.

Getting started with Oracle 11g express edition

I am currently in a college class doin SQL. I have downloaded oracle 11g express edition. I'm trying to get started and when I try to create a new connection it takes me to a screen where I have to sign in. When I use my oracle sign in and pass word it tells me it doesn't recognize it. No I know it works because I can sign in on the web site. But it won't connect me or allow me to make a new connection. I really don't understand what is going on. I can seriously use some help. Need help: Silent install of oracle 11g express edition does not install services. As a result, i'm unable to start\launch database

Installing using the GUI works fine. Oracle ILM Assistant 1.4 Installation for Oracle 11g Express Edition

Can we use Oracle ILM Assistant 1.4 with Oracle 11g Express Edition?
I installed ILM Assistant with Oracle 11g Express Edition along with default APEX in my laptop. Oracle SQLPlus connect and Application Express working fine. But facing problem is connecting ILM Assistant.
I used below commands to install ILM Assistant
sqlplus /nolog
Connect SYS as SYSDBA
Password: oracle
@ilma_install oracle ILM_ASSISTANT NONE
granted all access rights to user
@ilma_post_install
I restarted by computer once installation completes.
When I use http://localhost:8080/pls/apex/f?p=737677 address in IE to connect ILM Assistant it ask for XDB server username and password. When I provide default password IE giving 404 Not Found error.
Just wondering if I am missing something or issue is some thing else.

I have successfully istaled oracle 11g express edition.When I pressing start database an error is displaying "windows cannot find 'http://127.0.0.1:%HTTPPORT%apex/f?p==4950'.Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again'".
And there is no option of goto database homepage.plz help me

Oracle 11g Express Edition not working

Hi, I have installed Oracle 11g Express Edition correctly but when I try to log in :
http://127.0.0.1:8080/htmldb
I use SYSTEM and my password and it logs in but says: The requested URL /htmldb was not found on this server
If I try to acced to :
http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
the problem is that I cannot login either with SYS, SYSTEM, sys or system.
Edit: I have windows 8.1

Try ...:8080/apex/f?p=4950 for the URL with the system credential, that is the apex admin URL, and SYSTEM credential should work for that one.
Most any other Apex URLs require an Apex login, which is not SYS, nor SYSTEM, those are database users, they aren't apex users.
And if you get a "page not found" or similar error, check output of:
lsnrctl status
For Apex to work, both the database and the listener must be running, and there also must be a "...presentation=HTTP... port=8080" line showing up in the ...status output, in Endpoints... section.
If that endpoint isn't there, apex won't work, something may not be quite correct with the network settings in listener.ora done by the installer.

Oracle 11g express edition not connecting

2 days back i installed Oracle 11g express edition. I worked good for a day and now its not getting connected
1)when i try to get started it used to display the Oracle DataBase XE homepage. but now i have the following error message
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:8080.
2) In SQLPlus when I did
SQL> connect sys/***** as sysdba i am getting the following error

I reinstalled the software again and mySQL is working good.mySQL?! Or do you mean, you can connect using sqlplus (the database "command line")?

So, if you can connect using sqlplus (which didn't work in your first post, probably works now after reinstallation), you could open up a command line window and run
lsnrctl statusIf you don't find an entry like the following one, your Database Listener wasn't able to bind to that port. Either you have a (rapid) changing hostname/IP-adress, no active network interface, or a port conflict.

The output of that command gives you several other information that might help you find resources for debugging, e.g. the location of your *Listener Parameter File* and your *Listener Log File*. You can take a look at these to find out what's going wrong.

Problem with Oracle 11g(32 bit) installation on windows 7 ultimate edition

I have a problem with Oracle 11g(32 bit) installation on windows 7 ultimate edition (32 bit).
I have successfully installed it immediately after OS installation. But today, i have decided to deinstall it and go for Oracle 10g version for 32 bit.
Everything went normal during installation, but i can see the services is not present in services.msc. Also its throwing some exception for dbca, netca
Now i tried to deinstall it and again go for 11g. But even the same story here..
Can anybody give me a solution for this..

SaqibNo need to install a fresh OS. That's like tearing your house down just because you wired a lamp wrong and blew a circuit breaker.
There are MeaLink notes on how to eradicate an Oracle install from Windows, but it boils down to this:
Stop all Oracle services
In the registery:
- Delete all oracle services from the register (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
- Delete the entire Oralce folder from HKLM\Software
reboot
Delete the ORACLE_HOME directory and any other Oracle related directories/files. Offhand, it seems like there is an Oracle directory under Program Files.

Oracle 11g express --- Wish list --- Match or beat IBM and Microsoft

Oracle's significant competitors IBM and Microsoft have had support for XSLT and XQuery in their express editions for a while. My wish-list for Oracle 11g express is to match it or even beat it. With increasing adoption of XML a lot of innovation is happening. Oracle is a no-show here.
I had to switch to DB2 from Oracle to be able to take advantange of the IBM Db2 express. Along the way, I will end up purchasing their high-end DB2 offering also.

I see Oracle in a dilemma here.
Oracle 11g SE One Processor Perpetual costs $5,800 - dillute this over 3 years and you have a VERY GOOD database for a VERY affordable price. For small shops, this is a no-brainer over Standard Edition.
But alas, suppose 11g XE supports 2 CPUs, 2 GB of RAM and 20 GB of storage!
Let's think about it. A fast, robust, mature, fully-featured database - for FREE. But wait, there's more - APEX is FREE as well.
XE and APEX make a killer combo. XE's hard-coded limits are cumbersome, but creative DBAs/developers manage to create impressive solutions nonetheless. Without Oracle making a single dollar in licenses.
Simply put, I think 11g XE with 2 CPUs, 2GB RAM and 20 GB of storage would take away customers from Oracle - those currently buying Oracle 11g SE One Processor Perpetual. OK, XE comes with no support, but still, $0 is less than $5,800. The difference is even more significant in a scenario of economic downturn.
It will be interesting to see how Oracle handles this.

Stop database, and copy all files to another machine.That sounds to me to be the closest answer to the question posted. And perhaps the easiest solution.
Install XE on the "another machine", shut it down. Shutdown the source database. Copy the datafiles to the new host. Startup your "new" database, it will be an exact clone of the original.
To find out what files need to be copied, as system (or sysdba) run:
select name from v$datafile;
... file1, file2 ...
show parameter control
... control_files ... file1 ...
alter database backup controlfile to trace [reset logs];
show parameter diag;
... diagnostic_dest ... <drive:>|/diag_pathTo do a proper database clone its better to recreate the controlfile and reset the archive sequence number- leave out the controlfile copy part. In the diag_path location find the trace file under diag/rdbms/$ORACLE_SID/<db_name>/trace it should be the latest ora*.trc file.
The trace file has the commands to recreate the controlfile, which includes the datafiles and putting the tempfile back in place. If the datafiles are in a different location, i.e. in Windows going to a different drive, or you want do put datafiles in a different folder location, the create controlfile statement is the easiest time to get the file directories right.
If you add the "reset logs" qualifier (don't use the brackets!) you'll get just the reset logs version of the create controlfile statement, otherwise you'll get both NORESETLOGS and RESETLOGS versions of a create controlfile statement, run one or the other. Not both. Not the entire trace file, just the create controlfile, alter database open [reset logs], alter tablespace temp add tempfile ... bits. No recovery is needed for a database that is shutdown when datafiles get copied to a new location/host.

DB Upgrade from Oracle 8i to Oracle 11g express edition

As per the requirement i have to upgrade some of our application from oracle 8i to oracle 11g express edition on window base platform.
I am using import/export utility to migrate data from oracle 8i database to newly installed oracle 11g XE database. after importing i have tested my application in testing environment. It is working fine.Now I have to do this in production env. before proceeding with it.
please someone let me know what all things i have to keep in mind before execute in prod env. Like all risk,databse backup recovery, or any guidelines need to follow while upgrading lower version of oracle to 11g XE version.

You might want to consider what other programs interacts with the database; can they still connect to a much newer db server version? Any integrations that need a dry run before going in production? Any other "ad hoc" applications, like excel, running against the db? (you could use listener.log to find out what connects to the db, but a year worth of history might be needed)
Do you have any scripts or other "loosly coupled" stuff that needs review?

Can.t find employee and other sample tables in oracle 11g express edition

hi i am new to oracle 11g express edition. I want to run my queries over the employee table, but here i can'nt find this. I use the
Select * from tab;
it shows no rows selected.
Is it present in the 11g or not.

Oracle 11g Express Edition with Default Apex 4

Hi,
I recently installed Oracle 11g Express Edition, It came by default with apex 4 installed in it, I did not install apex in my system since it already had apex 4 in build.
Next I created a schema and tried to import some of the application developed in apex 4, But i am getting this below error.
>>1 error has occurredNOT COMPATIBLE (Your export may contain calls not supported by your application version.)
Kindly please suggest me do i need to install apex again in the system or what is the alternative method to make application install.

Oracle 11g Express Edition.

I successfully downloaded Oracle 11g Express Edition, but I got stuck on login to the database. I used my Oracle Username: [email protected] and password: Malka@123 that I had created. This is the message I am getting when I try to login: "Invalid Login Credential"
Username Password Login as a database user which has been granted the DBA database role (for example, SYSTEM). Please assist me with the login. My email address : [email protected] and my telephone in Minneapolis, MN is 651-354-9404
I was never asked to set up a username or password for the database during the time I downloaded Oracle 11g Express Edition. Any help will be appreciated.

to download "Oracle 11g Express Edition" and this time I did get the option to set up a Database "SYS" password.
I then downloaded the Oracle 11g Express Edition from the above site. And unzipped "setup.exe" file but my newly created Password is still NOT working?

Primavera CM compatibility with Oracle 11g Express Edition

We are trying to install Primavera CM 13.1 application (on windows 7 32 bit) with oracle 11g express edition (on CentOS 5.4 64 bit). Installation is completed without any warning but while trying to log on in the system with expadmin, it shows Internal Server Error. Through dbconfigcm utility we can connect the database but while running the CMAdminConfig utility, it throws java exception in command line "Unable to parse XML String" with java pop-up warning node has no children.
Is it due to compatibility issue of Primavera CM 13.0/ 13.1 with oracle 11g express edition or something we are missing?
