Problems submitting iWeb blog to Feedburner

I am trying to submit my blog to feedburner.
It's been created in iWeb, and everything is working fine, but when I submit the RSS url to feedburner, I keep geep the message that the address entered contains leading or trailing punctuation, I have checked it and can't find the problem.
Here is the complete string entered into the feedburner validator, copy and pasted exactly as it appears:
feed://rss.mac.com/nik.mac/iWeb/unpublishedwittering/preface/rss.xml
Am i missing something blindingly obvious?
TIA for help and advice
nik
macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hi nik,
Maybe they want it without the "feed://" prefix. Or maybe substitute "http://" in its place and see if Feedburner will take it. Otherwise, your URL seems to be correct.

I am having the same problem-- and viewing with Safari as the browser has had no effect. Any thoughts on solutions?
I've been a Mac proponent for two years now, though recent problems are causing me to re-evaluate. Aside from this snafu, the most recent Quicktime update neutered all sound on my .avi files as well. When can we expect updates/solutions to these problems?

  • IWeb blog date problem inconsistency

The date that appears on my iWeb blog entries is different from my computer to another person's computer. On my computer, the blog entry dates in my iWeb software appears the same as what I see when I browse the site on the internet using my Safari browser, but the dates are different when browsing the website from other computers!
How is this possible and can it be fixed?
    My website is http://www.marcandeliana.com

I've got this for the Finding Nemo article
    and the main page
Are those the two areas that show June 28 for you?

  • Problem with iWeb 09, after the publication in a local file.

*Subject: problem with iWeb 09, after the publication in a local file, i can't see my blog, nor my photos, but before that all was working fine.*
After the publication in the local file, I see all my pages, but there is a mistake on the page "Blog" where I just can see the top of my page, it's cut and I can't see it entirely, so I can't see the inputs while I should see 3 news or 3 inputs. And it's the same for the "Photos" page where the page is cut, I can't see the photos, and it's just written : "Put the slide show and subscribe".To finish, when I want to activate the comments, it doesn't work neither.
    Please help me.

I want to activate the comments, it doesn't work neither.
The comments feature is only available when you publish to the MobileMe server, so I don't think you can use it when you publish to a local file.

  • Iweb Blog ftp or mobile me?

I have just designed a website in iweb that I ftp through godaddy. Took a while to make that decision, but at least I have complete design control! I am doing pretty well and now at the search rankings stage and realize that iweb isn't great at that. Read some of the articles here on search rankings and downloaded the SEO guide and going to take actions with that, and also bought the godaddy search optimisation pack and intend to place the metatags/descriptions etc on my pages.
BUT, I now want to design a second site which is just a blog, which obviously isn't showing up through godaddy, so need to mobileme it. But, with a blog, how do you add the metatags etc to the pages, and are their individual pages for each blog posting? Does mobile me make it easy to go into each file and make the blog searchable? Just not sure whether to just design blog pages myself in iweb rather than their formatted ones, and use godaddy instead?
So, in short - mobile me with formatted iweb blog? or design own blog and ftp with godaddy - which makes the pages more searchable?

Welcome to the discussions. You'll probably have better luck making your blog pages more searchable if you use a dedicated blogging platform — most of them allow tags to be specified.
MobileMe is slow and problems with iWeb's blog are a recurring theme on these forums. For a success story with a non-iWeb blog hosted on WordPress, see this old thread:
To blog or not to blog
And to link to an external blog from iWeb's navbar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (Actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).
SEO is important to you, but iWeb is designed for personal sites and, as such, Apple apparently thinks there's no need for Google. Web-design apps for business sites tend to integrate SEO — Sandvox Pro is an example:

  • Could an iWeb blog page be modified to...

...parse wordpress entries so that they appear "iWeb'sh" even though being created and maintained in Wordpress?

I'm having similar problems with the automatic RSS Feed link that the iWeb blog page uses.
I also figured I could create my own custom RSS icon/link for the page, but that still doesn't resolve the issue for the RSS Feed link that is automatically generated by the Firefox or Safari browsers I'm online with a MobileMe Support rep now (crossed fingers)

  • Using Facebook Comments for iWeb Blog (non mobile me domain)

Upon moving from a mobileme hosted iWeb created blog to a personal domain, I obviously lost ability to use iWeb commenting. That in-of-itself was frustrating, so I've been scouting out new possibilities. Some have recommended IntenseDebate and others, but I'm curious if anyone has had luck using Facebook Comments? http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments
I've been able to use the Facebook Like HTML as a Widget not a problem, but haven't been able to get Comments to work.
    www.kellerowski.com
    Thanks in advance!

That is because it is a plugin and plugins won't work with iWeb as far as I am aware.
I would try http://www.intensedebate.com. It is very easy to set up and it works and you will be notified by e-mail every time somebody posts a comment. I use IntenseDebate on my own site and it works very well for me.
Your other alternative of course is to ditch the iWeb blog and create a blog link to a blog created in WordPress - you can use http://www.wordpress.org too if you uploading to another host, so you will then have www.domain.com/Blog.

  • Iweb blog remote updating

I will be going on travel and would like to update my blog on my site. problem is i will be traveling with a pc laptop from work. is there any way to update the iweb blog remotely?

Phil ~ I don't know how practical this would be, but...
...is a free, cross-platform, remote desktop system that you can use to access your Mac from almost any system. You could log in to LogMeIn, open iWeb and edit & publish your site remotely via your home system.
...for iPhone and iPod touch provides instant one-click access to your LogMeIn computers, directly from your Apple device. Make your iPhone or iPod touch an extension of your work or home computer:
    • Use a program that's on your office computer
    • View a photo on your home desktop
    • Help a friend troubleshoot his or her computer
    • All from the palm of your hand, from wherever you are.

  • IWeb Blog RSS feed no longer updates

When I originally published my iWeb blog to .Mac, the RSS feed contained all 3 posts. Since then the RSS feed hasn't updated, although I've added several new entries to the blog. I've checked the source code of the RSS feed and it only contains the original 3 posts.
Any suggestions for getting the RSS feed to update?

Follow-up post. Strangely, when checking ths RSS feed from IE at work, I see the new posts in the source data of the feed. So this is not an iWeb problem, but probably related to the more general RSS update issues within Safari.

  • IWeb blog squished

I found that when I publish my iWeb blog with several text boxes, HTML snippets, and pictures it does not display properly. The items tend to run together and cover each other up. This problem is especially bad when viewing the posts on iPhone. My post will look fine in Safari on my Mac but be all squished when viewed on my iPhone. Is there anything I can do to anchor the items in place?
    I appreciate your help!

Click on Inspector (bottom left in iWeb). In Inspector, click on RSS (fourth from left on top). Click on "Blog." Under "Blog Main Page," you'll see "Number of excerpts to show." Adjust the number and Voila!!
Good luck and Happy New Year.

  • Getting photos to show properly in your iWeb Blog Summary?

    Hi,
I'm trying to create an iWeb photo blog, but am having some problems. This is what I have so far: www.nigelivy.com
Basically my plan is to use the "blog home" as my site's actual home and to upload a daily photo. There are two problems that I have faced:
    1. I can't get my photos which I add to each entry to show on the home page in the "Blog Summary".
    2. When I did get the photos to show up, they were blurred. Is there a way of fixing this?
Any help would be appreciated! If anyone can recommend a iWeb blog template for this sort of site, please let me know...
    Many thanks,
    Nigel

When you use the image placeholder in a blogpage, the image is displayed in the summary.
When you delete that placeholder and simply drop an image on the page, that image won't be displayed.
Tiny details that make iWeb so interesting to use for some and confusing for others.

  • After 10 months of iweb blogging, "creating Page" takes 15  to 20minutes...

one more problem... after 10 months of iweb blogging, "creating Page" takes 15 to 20 minutes. once it get to the publish stage, it goes as fast as ever... less than a minute. But with each passing month it takes longer to publish because of the lengthening time it takes to "create page".
    Ideas?
    thanks, bobbie J.

How much free space do you have on the MBP?

  • Firefox doesn't know what to do with iWeb blog pages.

    Why?
Firefox doesn't know what to do with iWeb blog pages. All the entries are missing, and in their place are the words, Blog Summary Widget. Is this a problem with just my version of Firefox (like maybe I'm missing a plug-in or something?) or is this a failure on iWeb's part?
    http://web.me.com/gomerpyle/MonarchRenovations/Before_and_After/Before_andAfter.html

There have been some quantum leaps in design and usefulness between FF1 and FF3. I'm not surprised that FF1 can't handle it. Download the latest FF for Mac and/or Windows here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

  • I have more problems in iWeb than I can begin to describe.  For one, after an "unexpected shutdown" of iWeb, it just deleted 10 of my published pages.

I published the updates to my site last night.  Today I have had to make some adjustments.  I saved iWeb before I left for lunch just in case.  After lunch, I made more changes and through an issue with a photo album, iWeb "unexpectedly quit".  When I went to Revert to Saved..., it did revert to saved, which I didn't realize until then that somehow iWeb had deleted 10 pages before I saved it.  So now I have lost 10 pages.
Every time I open iWeb, it tells me it no longer has the links to documents or any of the pictures.  Every time I work on iWeb, I have to reattached all the documents and re upload all the pictures all over my site.
I could write for hours about the problems with iWeb.  Certainly I am doing something wrong ... but my IT company has no idea what is wrong or how to fix it.
    I have iWeb version 3.0.4 (601)

First replace your domain file that's in the Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder with a backup copy that was made before this happened.
If you don't have a backup copy try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

I am sorry if thie is republished-My first time doing this and I am not sure what goes where and where to hear feedback.
Have published iweb site for five years with no problems and just opened a new site and get -
    404: Page not found
This error is generated when there was no web page with the name you specified at the web site.-
    Troubleshooting suggestions:
Ensure the page you are linking to exists in the correct folder.
Check your file name for case sensitivity . Index.htm is not the same as index.htm!
Temporarily disable any rewrite rules by renaming your .htaccess file if it exists

It's a really bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove it. (Even though I've now noticed you mis-spelled it! - anyway, never post your address in a forum.)
You have a site here: http://virginiagordon.com/www.virginiagordon.com/WELCOME.html
If that's not the page you are having trouble with, what is that page's URL?
