Problems switching OS's

ok i have SL and win 7 boot camp drivers are installed that came on the SL disc. Is bootcamp 3.0 the version that comes with SL? Also when booting to the win partition half the time the computer gets to the desk top, screen go black and nothing. I then have to hold down the power button wait 5-7 seconds then boot to safe mode, restart in reg mode and it works. Has anyone else run into this problem. It should be noted that the only change to the any of the hardware is an after market battery. could that be causing the issues? I've tried reloading bootcamp also running the windows update hoping there might be new drivers but nothing seems to help. thanks all.

i'm going to bump this is think it has been burried again. any help would be great. I'm still having problems switching OS's.

Problem switching between applications

Don't know if anyone can shed any light on this...
I am working on a Director project that has to link to and
open Word DOCs. I have a problem whereby when a DOC is opened, the
Mac does not seem to be switching properly into Word. What happens
is: click thumbnail (running handler to open DOC, using Buddy API
xtra); Word starts to open the DOC; DOC window appears in front of
projector Window, but the Mac titlebar seems to 'stick' in the
projector. I can edit the DOC, use keyboard commands to save etc.,
but no menus are visible due to the 'ProjectorName.osx' title bar.
I can switch to Word with Apple-tab, but not by clicking in the
Word window(s).
A few extra notes:
• The projector resizes the screen to 800x600, but even
with this feature disabled the problem persists.
• I have tried creating a projector with the Full
Screen option checked and unchecked, and with the visible title bar
option checked and unchecked - no difference.
• The problem has just arisen; essentially identical
projectors (ie. differences are only in graphics) have run OK.
• We have used a couple of different xtras to open the
files, for reasons unconnected with this issue. However we have
been using BuddyAPI for a while, so I am reasonably sure that the
problem is not related to this.
• Ensuring that unnecessary apps are closed, to ensure
plenty of free memory, makes no difference.

It seems the problem is related to the Full Screen option in
projector creation. (While previous full screen projectors based on
the same movie did not show the problem, since the issue came up
non-full screen projectors work OK, and full screen one don't .
Unfortunately I need to use full screen mode as I don't want a
title bar at the top of the screen, and want to use the full
(re-sized to 800x600 screen area.

Problem switching from AP-specific to Group-specific VLAN mapping

Hello.
Some days ago, I updated our 5508 WLC to software version 7.5.102.0.
With that version, it should be possible to have a VLAN mapping specific for a Flexconnect group that is set within Flexconnect Group settings.
I did that for all my Flexconnect groups and it works fine with new access point.
For existing access point, which already have an AP-specific VLAN mapping, it is not possible to switch to Group-specific.
When I mark the WLAN in Flexconnect setting of the AP and select "Remove AP specific", I get the error message "Request failed: Vlan is not enabled on this flexconnect".
I wonder what the problem could be, because for newly installed access points, it works fine. Did I miss some settings?

Hello guys, trying to switch config from a 8310 to a 8900 using desktop manager 5.0.0.11. It gave an error and finished. The problem is that it cleaned information from source device.
Do you know where is saved the temporary backup?

Usually, a backup file is created in the My Documents folder with a .ipd file extension. If you can't find it there, search the computer hard drive.

I-Pod Touch Problem Switching On - I-Tunes, USB Cable and Arrow on Screen

Hi folks.
When I switched on my i-pod touch this morning, an image appeared with a usb cable and an arrow pointing to the i-tunes logo. I have tried to switch off and restart the i-pod touch (16GB) but I cannot get past this stage. Do I need to have access to i-tunes on my computer to bypass this? I am at work and don't have access currently....
I've had it for just approximately 14 months.
Please advise....

It sounds like the ipod is in recovery mode. Plug it into you computer when you get home.
If it doesn't fix the problem, then take it to another computer running itunes and plug it in. It should tell you that an ipod has been detected in recovery mode and do you want to restore it. It should ask to download and install the software. After the install, plug it back into your computer and it should restore your apps and music.
This has happened to me with every update ever since the 3.0 software has come out.
Strangely enough, it didn't do it with ios 4 which should have told me that I was in for problems!!!!!!

Macbook pro i5 intermittent problems switching on? Would not switch on today took several attempts anyone else got the same problem?

I went to switch on my macbook pro this morning, would not switch on could hear fan in background battery 96% but would not turn on, disconnected power supply twice the plugged back in and worked. Has anyone else has this problem. Only had the computer since April 11. Anyone got any similar problems?

Basic warranty is one year. You can extend the warranty an additional two years when you purchase AppleCare. Don't you read your User Guide? Didn't they explain that when you bought the MBP?

Problems switching phones

I am replacing my Motorola Bionic with a refurbished Galaxy S4. Got the proper size SIM card, couldn't activate the phone in the store because I couldn't remember my PIN. Why don't they have a recovery process for that like they do for the online username/password, BTW?!!!
So, I went through trying to switch them online with multiple failures. Finally, on my home laptop, I got all the way through entering the new SIM number, with the result that my Bionic has been deactivated, but my online account shows a generic no-name phone in the space my Bionic held with my phone number. Can't make calls with the Galaxy and it doesn't show a phone number in the "about phone" "my number" spot, just 0's. What went wrong and what can I do to fix it?

I apologize for the problems you had activating your Galaxy S4, we definitely need to get it up and running. From the details provided, it sounds like it didn't activate properly. Was the Bionic on when you swapped them online? Power off both phones; remove/re-insert SIM in Galaxy S4 and try again. If problem is still there, completing a factory reset will push the activation through.

Problem switching from year to year-1

Hi there =),
I've coded some little thing, that shows the momentary weekofyear and the monday and friday in that week (dd.MM.yyyy). There're also 2 links who let the
weekofyear go -1 or +1 and then change the monday and friday automatically.
My problem is, that I do need to go to the last year sometimes. So I click the "-1"-link and the w.o.y. goes 20, 19, .... 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2, -3, ...
First, in reallity there's no week number 0 or -1 or -2...So I need to fix this, too
So I need to set the week to 52 or 53 if it less than 1. But how do I manage this?

Magic Trackpad - Pairing Problems Switching Between OS X & Windows

My system has Mac OS 10.6.4 (with Magic Trackpad update 1.0 installed) and Windows 7 (with Bootcamp 3.1 plus the "Magic Trackpad/27" Cinema Display" update). The Trackpad works correctly after setup in OS X with all functions working even after reboots. The Trackpad also works correctly after setup in Windows 7 (with passkey 0000) and continues to work correctly with the supported features with multiple reboots into Windows 7.
The problem is that after using Windows, when I reboot to OS X the Trackpad will not function. It shows as paired but disconnected and will not stay connected. If I un-pair and then re-pair it will work. And the same thing happen when I switch from OS X to Windows - it shows as paired but unconnected and the only way to get it to work is to un-pair and then re-pair.
I had a similar sort of problem with the Magic Mouse and found that if I un-pair in OS X, pair in Windows, and then pair in OS X it will work with both. But the Trackpad won't work this way, even after trying this. I think the problem is that the Trackpad won't allow paring with two different systems (for the obvious reason) but isn't designed to accommodate the Bootcamp scenario.
I really like the Magic Trackpad and would like to be able to use it on those rare occasions when I need to use Windows without the hassle of reinstalling it each time I boot a different OS. Any solution to this problem?

UPDATE: I installed Vista on Bootcamp and tried the Magic TrackPad driver. It has the same problem. I can get the device to work as advertised on the initial install and reboots in the same OS. But when you switch from Windows to Mac OS X (or vice-versa) the device will not work: in Windows is listed as paired and connected, but does not work. In Mac OS X, it will not connect automatically and does not work. If you manually try to connect the Bluetooth icon briefly shows connected and then disconnects.
I sent a bug report to Apple as a "developer" and they state that it is a known issue. I guess we simply wait for them to get around fixing the drivers at some point in the distant future. Clearly they ignore these forums altogether. The experience has left me disappointed with Apple and their slow and inadequate response to problems. I would rather they devote some resources to getting their existing products to work instead of wasting resources to add iPhone-style displays to Mac OS X. If I wanted buggy drivers and no support I should have just stayed with Windows.

Problems Switching Between Operating Systems.

I just had a copy of windows xp put on my mac book for school but for some reason I can't switch back to it. Since I'm not a admin I can't access the start-up disk and when I hold the option key and restart the computer all I get is a big pad lock on the screen. Right now I have no way of contacting the administrator until Tuesday. Is there any other way to access the windows OS? Thanks.

The iPhone has it's own OS, and syncing between Macs and PCs is not a problem. There's no formatting issue involved.

Airport 6.0 problem switching bands!

Hello.
Hope for someone to help me. Just updated the Airport utility to 6.0 (Running OSX Lion) as prompted. All seemed to be fine until now. I stated the utility and was prompted to also update the firmware of my Airport Express, so i did and all was fine here to (Now running firmware 7.6.1).
Every now and then switch between the 2.4Ghz and the 5.0Ghz band, tho having the 5.0 as default for most of the time. If you wonder why is because all my neighbours are on the 2.4 band and im alone on the 5.0 and have little disturbance. The only time i want to access the 2.4 band is when i want to connect my iPhone to the network which i wanted now.
So the problem is now in the new Airport Utility is that when i choose the 2.4 band (Both options), then select a channel, hit save and then update i get this wierd message "Value for channel is invalid" ( Directly translated from my language ), and it doesnt matter which channel i choose or even the automatic selection works.
Any idea why Apple has done like this?

I'm trying to switch from DEDICATED to SHARED server mode. I'm running oracle ee r2(8.1.6) on redhat 6.2. I have some oracle documentation that says to add the following lines to the end of init.ora
mts_dispatchers = "(protocol=TCP)(DISP=1)(mul=OFF)(pool=OFF)"
mts_servers = 1
mts_max_servers = 20
I shutdown oracle to make the changes to init.ora and then restarted. Oracle comes up fine, but when I check server in v$session I get all DEDICATED. Please help.

I had the same problem. I'm following through the Oracle 8i for Linux Starter Kit, by Steve Bobrowski.
After editing the initoralin.ora file and adding the mts_ parameters, I tried
sqlplus system/manager@oralin
and got
ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
I did a search for ORA-12154 and found a windows-related doc with a solution.
The answer was to add the following to $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora:
names.default_domain = x
where x is the same as the domain specified by the service_name.domain parameter in the tnsnames.ora file in the same directory.
