Problems sync'ing some information between Address Book and iPod (5th)

Please give me some cues...
I sync my ipod address book (with iTunes and Address Book) but not every contact get sync'ed! Sometimes I change a contact picture or add a phone number and the updated version doesn't seem to show up on my ipod... It happens with several contacts on different occasions... Even if i delete those contact and create new ones from scratch.
Also, when I add a second phone number and set this number as "Home" (like for a Summer house), this number replace the first (home) number on my iPod. When I set this new number to be "Other", it just doesn't show up on my iPod. The only way I can make it visible on my iPod is to set it as "Work" (if I don't have a phone number set up as "Work" for that contact already). Pretty annoying...
Finally, some phone number are set up as xxx-xxx-xxxx (my default address format in AB) and some shows up as (xxx) xxx-xxxx even if everything looks fine in AB (phone numbers' label, contact's picture, address format...)
clueless...
maybe isync (or hotsync) has something to do with it (since I had a Palm w/Palm Desktop and HotSync before...)

• How can I move address book information between Address Book and Entourage?

(I have the same question regarding iCal and Entourage.) I have a lot of important information to enter, info that would be very difficult to relocate. I had some problems with iCal awhile back (it started randomly deleting events), so I am trying to figure out which program(s) to use. Since I don't have much experience with these, I would ideally like to be able to start in Entourage since that program seems better laid out for me, but be able to export the information to Address Book and iCal so I can make use of the Address Book widget feature, etc.
Is it realistically possible to export from Entourage into AB and iCal and how do you it?
Also, I have a first generation iPod, and just got an iPod Touch so that I could have access to this information on the go, along with the rather lame "notes" approach to entering information (while I hope for a free upgrade that will allow me to edit my calendar). So I am also trying to figure out:
How do I export Entourage information onto my iPod Touch? Can it be done directly easily now or does it need to go through AB and iCal?
I've done that on my old iPod, but it was very confusing between "identities"?? and remembering exactly how to do it again one I figured it out. I had to locate a copy of Tiger just to manage to get the iPod Touch, so I am grateful for any suggestions of the best way to do this.

''' "I thought FF29 was supposed to be the most customizable Firefox yet?" '''
Whoever told you that was incorrect, as far as I am concerned. Firefox still is more customizable that the "competition", but not as much as previous versions were.
The Home button can be moved, but the Back / Forward combo button is attached to the Address Bar - they can't be separated.
The combo Stop / Reload button is locked in the Address Bar.
The old "Activity Indicator" is gone. Deemed unnecessary with the loading animation on the left corner of each tab, where the Favicon appears once the page is fully loaded.

Many users are installing the Classic Theme Restorer extension.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
But I don't think that is going to turn out to be along term solution. As users start installing other extensions I think they are going to run into compatibility issues where the new extension "expects" the user to be using what Firefox came with - not the "retro" features.

This is not an iSync issue, but a Motorola one. On your phone, go to the address book, click on the middle button, choose 'Configuration' (near the end), 'See', and choose 'Main contacts' instead of 'All contacts'. This is loosely translated from French, your mileage may vary.

• Sync contacts between Address Book and Gmail

Hi,
I am one of those Android mobile users who wants to sync his contacts with his Mac's address book. Going to Address Book > Preferences > Accounts > sync with Google, has proven ineffective. Not only does it not sync (I have tested making changes in Gmail and checking if changes are reflected in Address Book, and viceversa) but it also creates duplicates every time it syncs.
I would highly appreciate any recommendation on how to proceed. It seems like other users have had similar problems. I am running OSX 10.6.8 on my Mac and Android 4.2.1 on my mobile device.
Thanks to everyone.
Best,
Marcos.

• Forcing Sync Between Address Book and Entourage

I use Apple Address Book and Entourage on a Powerbook Pro running Leopard. I have al of the latest updates.
Sometimes, when I make updates to info in a contact record in Apple Address Book, the updated info appears in Entourage within a few seconds. Sometimes, it can take minutes.
Is there anyway to force an update in Entourage so that as soon as I go back into Entourage, I can force the update and the updated record is there? I know that I can turn off synch, turn synch back on, etc., but is there some other way/ shortcut to force an update of Entourage contacts once I make a change in a contact record in Apple Address Book?

don't think there is unfortunately.

• Backup software, difference between "address book" and "address book - all"

hi i have backed up successfully, what i would lke to know for when i restore is what is the difference between "address book" which has 313 contacts and "address book - all" which has 465 contacts, i wonder if one is my hone contacts and the other includes my email contacts, which will be important when i change work, thanks

Hey sheepshead,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
This is caused by having multiple address books on the BlackBerry smartphone. This can also cause syncrhonization issues, I would suggest following the steps in this KB article to make address book number the same as address book all: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB19704
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

• IPhone syncs only SOME of my Address Book contacts...?

Hi guys,
Just realized I'm having a bit of a syncing issue... For some reason my iPhone is not including all of my contacts from Address Book. I have a total of 63 Address Book contacts, but my iPhone is only at 53!? If I add a new contact in my iPhone, it will carry over to Address Book, but it doesn't seem to be adding a few contacts from my list... Any ideas? I can't find any similarities between the missing contacts either. Oh, and I'm on the most current iPhone version as well.
Thanks in advance for any input! I'm stumped!

Try resetting the sync history on your Mac.
Applications > iSync > iSync Preferences > Reset Sync History
After resetting the sync history, restart your Mac and then try syncing again

• Sync between address book and google

I have been driving myself nuts all day with this. Here's the scenario:
a) I do not use mobile me.
b) I have my address book on the mac setup to sync with google contacts (10.6)
after it is initially setup:
1) if I add a new contact to my google contacts -- it shows up on my mac address book
2) if I add a new contact in my mac address book -- it NEVER shows up on google contacts
3) if I change a contact in my mac address book -- it NEVER shows up on google contacts
This is driving me nuts.
Any suggestions?

First, on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), only contacts in the My Contacts group in Gmail are synced. Second, groups are not synced to Gmail. Third, contact Sync can't sync a contact with Gmail if another contact has the same email address. If an Address Book or iPhone contact contains an email address already present in a different Gmail contact, this contact will not be synced.
Any of the above apply to you?

• Sharing some contacts between address books

hey' I have a mac book and my roomate has an imac. I would like him to have some of my contacts and i want some contacts from his address book. How would i do that? Computers are networked. I have tried to send a card through bluetooth but i only got erorr messages. Do i have to enable something on both computers? appreciate any help

actually i used: card>send this card> choose blouetooth divice from the list (in this case my roomate's computer> send - and a person on the other end has to accept that.
I tried this and it didnt work but after your question i tried again just to tell you how i did it and it worked. So thanks.

• Syncing smart groups between Address Book and iPhone

When I do my regular iPhone synch, it will import regular groups but doesn't seem to want to import Smart Groups. Am I doing something wrong? If not, is there a workaround? Thanks, Katie

That's the only solution I've been able to come up with, but it makes Smart Groups useless in my Address Book. I was hoping I was doing something wrong.
Glad to know others are doing the same thing.
Thanks so much.

• Syncing Google Gmail Contacts with Address Book and iPhone Contacts

Can anyone recommend a good way to sync Google Gmail Contacts with the Address Book on the Mac and with Contacts on the iPhone?
I tried using ABGMerge, but could not get it to work so and am looking for other options. Thanks.

The Plaxo 3 non-pubic beta application currently supports only Mozilla and FireFox 1.5 and Internet Explorer 6. Safari support, and support for updated OS X thrid-party browsers, has not yet been released. To say that there are some anomalies and visual artifacts with Safari 2, would be an understatement. But, then, I often find this to be the case with beta—particularly, pre-public beta, software.
The current release—build 356—supports these 'sync points:'
• Mac OS X through a System Preferences pane
• AOL and AIM
• LinkedIn
• mobile access
• MSN and WIndows Live
• Outlook
• Outlook Express
• Windows Mail
• Yahoo
It does not yet support Google. Or, not yet reliably or completely. The little 'hippo' that pops up periodically in the beta says, "Google Calendar Sync has been temporarily disabled. We are working diligently to resolve the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience."
The verdict at the moment: contact synchronization performs as it always has with Plaxo. Calendar synchronization is clearly not yet ready for prime-time, even to the Plaxo 3 web interface itself.

• Sync Treo 755p with Mac address book and ical

I just bought a Treo 755p Verizon. I loaded in the Palm software, but it does not sync with the mac address book. I don't want to have to re-enter 600 contacts. How can I get Palm and Mac address book to talk to each other?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

Well, I got some good news for you. I just synced my Treo 755p with my Macbook Pro using both the palm sync and isync. It synced both my iCal & Address book. It has to do with the conduit setting in the palm sync manager. Here's what I did...try it and let me know.
I downloaded the latest version of the Palm Desktop (although I do not use it)
Then, at the top of the page of the Palm Desktop go to "HotSync" then to "Conduit Settings"
Then highlight "iSync Conduit" by clicking on it and press the big square button at the top called "Conduit Settings"
Then check the box :enable isync for this device" Then click OK.
This did it for me....It's syncing with my ical, addressbook, etc.
Let me know if this helps!!!
Thanks for yours!!

• How to see all Address fields between Address Book and Contacts?

Hello,
I rely on my Apple Address Book on my iMac to manage a lot of information for work and personal purposes. Is there a way to configure the iPhone to display more of the fields that are available in the desktop Mac version of the Address Book? Specifically, the Related Names fields?
Thank you

• Data loss between Address Book and Contacts

I have some detail in my address book (detail within individual contact) on my desktop that does not seem to "push" to my iphone. I get phone number, address but not the rest of the detail I have added via address book. Is there a way to expand the detail that is "pushed" to mobileMe, iphone or both?

Grrr, I'm not an addressbook specialist, but since no one answere yet I guess i'll give it a crack.
Can you try to close address book, then drag these files from your ~/library/preferences/ folder and put them on your deskop?
com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist
com.apple.AddressBook.plist
Re-open Addressbook and see what happens.
