Problems syncing after 3.0 update

After upgrading to 3.0 i'm having trouble syncing my phone. I press the sync button and the phone says sync in progress, itunes says backing up iphone. The problem is that the progress bar in itunes isn't moving.... Can anyone help?

Have you tried the suggestion above? Or closing and opening iTunes and reconnecting your phone? Or rebooting your computer, reconnecting your phone, and then opening iTunes? Or even turning your phone off and on again? I found that even when mine sync'd, it paused for a bit before it finished. We have another iPhone in the house that sync'd immediately with no hesitation!
Post back here again if something you do helps.

  • Cannot sync after 2.0 update

I just downloaded the 2.0 software onto my IPhone, and as it was doing it's thing it told me there was an error in restoring the phone. My music and about 2/3 of my photos disappeared from the phone, and now when I try to resync it it gives an error message of "required disk not found."

Not sure if this will fix your problem, but I had problems syncing after the upgrade too. I discovered that the backup iTunes made when upgrading was corrupted. To fix it, I chose to do a new restore, and then select the New Phone radio button instead of the one for the previous backup after the restore process was completed. Then I had to reselect and manually sync contacts, calendar, email, bookmarks, video, podcasts, etc again after completing the above step, but it fixed my problem. iPhone syncs fine now.

  • Iphone 4 not recognized and will not sync after latest itunes update.  I have done all trouble shooting and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail.

iphone 4 not recognized and will not sync after latest itunes update.  I have done recommendedl trouble shooting and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail. Can I go back to earlier version of itunes or restore computer to fix?

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Problems syncing ipod touch and updating all the software, etc didn't help

I went to sync it and itunes would freeze when it went to update a certain song (one which was fine before) so I deleted that song and it continued to sync after I rebooted itunes, etc. Gets to a different song (one which worked perfectly fine before) and then itunes freezes again. So I delete that and it continues. I then tried to sync after rebooting again and itunes freezes before it even gets to the songs. I tried a restore, etc but now half of my songs aren't on the ipod and things are not improving. Syncing just isn't going down here.

I tried part of this - it would probably take three days and a hundred CDs to back up all my music. I did the first part and changed the file. My problem there is that I store my music and podcast files on an external hard drive, so though I changed the file as per the instructions, since my storage area is not my hard drive, it didn't help at all. I did try copying all the music files into the new folder as instructed and did a sync - same problems as before - no syncing, freezing up, no content on the iPod. For some strange reason my podcasts come over just fine and they are in the same file as my music. If it's an iTunes issue, then I think you should replace it with the next older version until this issue is resolved. Very frustrating - this is the third day I've spent on it - I'd much rather be outside in the nice weather LISTENING TO MY MUSIC. Thanks.

  • Apps not syncing after 2.1 update

Weird situation... I can no longer sync any apps after 2.1 update. Just noticed it when I purchased several new apps today and they didn't sync. Every option and list in the Applications tab are greyed out... Apps on the phone remain the same. If I delete one from the phone, then I can no longer sync them back. Selecting Sync syncs everything else other than applications... it skips this everytime. Everything was okay on the last 2.0.2 sync just before the update...Has anyone experienced this problem after updating to 2.1? Kinda odd...

I just went ahead and started new from scratch (AGAIN)...
Restore then reinstall everything one by one.
Unfortunately, I have never been successful with iPhone updates retaining my data and files from previous versions without any glitches. With EVERY UPDATE all files and information on my iPhone is lost everytime because iTunes was unable to transfer data from the backup stored with previous firmware prior to update or a glitch causes me to have to start fresh with a newly cleaned out phone. A message to the likes of "Incompatible with current firmware/iPhone" (or something to that affect) always pops up.
What good is the iPhone if I have to encounter data loss everytime a new "bug-fixing update" is released. Having to literally start over-and-over again from scratch is extremely frustrating. This makes the iPhone the worst investment I've ever made and the Most Unproductive Device I've owned compared to previous Windows Mobile devices owned...

  • How do I get my music to sync after the iS5O update?

I can't synce my music back on my iPhone after the new update (iS5O)

Always back up your computer before installing updates.  You may need to rebuild it with a pre-update library file.  Details really depend upon exactly what you lost.

Quick answer:  Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085#17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.  If they are not a multiple CD set you still need to make sure the disc number fields are set correctly or all empty.

  • Ipod touch will not sync after new itunes update

Ipod touch 4th generation will not sync after I updated the new itunes. Actually after I updated to the new itunes it deleted all my music from my ipod and refuses to reload. If someone could please help me that would be completely appreciated. I tried trying to sync each song individually but it didn't help (before it stopped syncing), then it stopped syncing, even though I have it hooked up it brings everything that I have on my ipod up but it won't do anything.

When I tried the first time it asked me if i wanted it to stop syncing and to restore. It gave the choices of yes and cancel, i didn't click either because the option box went away and it just stopped restoring on its own. I did the store again and now it is asking if i want to set up as a new ipod or to restore to Andrea's ipod. Should I set up as new?
Thank you Espeon for the article

I doubt that the problem is related to having more that one copy of AppleWorks on your hard drive, although there is no need to have more than one copy of the same version & language, i.e. US/North American English 6.2.9 (which also contains 6.2.8 if you purchased the retail box) or French 6.2.4/6.2.3.
Personally, I don't use the assistant to prepare an envelope as I set up my own template/stationary in ClarisWorks long before there were assistants. Others also have problems with the various assistants. Since it crashes when you go to Page Setup, the problem could be in AppleWorks (more likely) or in your printer driver (less likely). The first thing to do is delete the AppleWorks preferences. Deleting AppleWorks & reinstalling does not touch the preference files, they must be moved manually. It also is necessary to delete these preferences after every AppleWorks crash. See my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, for more information. If this doesn't work, please post back, especially with the make & model of printer you are using.

  • Ipod Touch(4G) won't sync after iOS 5 update

After I updated to iOS 5 my ipod could no longer sync with my iTunes. When plugged in it will appear on the left of iTunes but the sync button is grayed out and unpressible. I have tried restoring a backup on the ipod, resetting to factory settings, reinstalling iTunes, rebooting computer/ipod, and creating a new library. I have never had a problem like this before. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have the same problem and read where one person turned off ICloud.  I do not have I Cloud activated so I went ahead and turned off WiFi.  Now it is syncing.
It used to not get past Step 1 of Syncing and it would say "Fail to Sync" or something like that.

  • No longer able to sync after most recent update.

Just updated itunes (10.2.1) and then the iphone OS (4.3). After updating, itunes froze so I cancelled the sync on the iphone, rebooted itunes and tried again.
Now it is giving me the message "The iphone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."
I'm sure I could fix this problem by restoring the iphone through itunes but I had to do this once before and in order to do this one must be connected to the internet. However I get all my internet THROUGH my iphone. Once the iphone is wiped clean no more internet and thus no way to link back to the apple store to verify. Catch 22. If I were on a laptop this wouldn't be a big deal, just take it to a wi-fi hotspot and away we go but I have a 24" iMac. Any suggestions, anyone?
Last time I ended up having to lug the whole damned thing to a friend's house, which I REALLY do not want to do again. At the same time, it would be nice to be able to sync the iphone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HELP Microsoft Can't sync after Lumia Cyan update ...

I've checked my Xbox account as recommended on another post, but it seems to be everything ok there.
Please, I will appreciate any help.

I'm having the same problems....updated from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 - nothing will sync; and in iTunes Calendar is not even an option!

  • IPhone 4S taking forever to sync after iOS 7 update

My iPhone 4S is taking forever to completely sync the back up after updating to the new iOS 7 operating system. It's stuck in step 6 of 6 'waiting for items to copy'. Please help!

I was having this same problem with iPhone 5 with the latest version of iOS 7 and iTunes.  It was just taking forever on the 'waiting for items to copy' step.
I disabled Genius on my iTunes setup, and immediately it resumed and completed that step.  Seems like it was waiting for Genius results that weren't there, or weren't available.
I have a large iTunes library and still like to manually manage the music on my iPhone.
I guess I'll live without Genius until Apple can fix this.
iTunes Genius can cause manual sync of music to iPhone to hang for a long time.

  • No organizer sync after DM 6 update (no error message)

    Hi there,
After updating to DM 6 and, at the same time, updating the device software to v5.0.0.1036, I am not able to perform or configure organizer synchronisation any longer. When pressing the "Sync" button, it just says "Select your organizer data". When I try to configure the settings for the sync, a pop up window shows up saying "Operation is in progress, please wait" but it closes within a second or two with no error message - nothing happens.
I am not going to go into how annoying this is and that RIM obviously released a sub-optimal update. Others did that already sufficiently. Let's just try to solve it.
I checked the file "desktop.log" and you can find an error message there that might be the key to a solution.
    11:53:58.375|ERROR|1|Rim.Desktop.DesktopChannelWrapper|0|Error retrieving sync config file
System.ArgumentException: The URL cannot be empty.

       at System.Xml.XmlTextReader..ctor(String url, XmlNameTable nt)

I did not find anything helpful on the net on that error message so hopefully someone here in the Forum can help me.
Thanks for any support in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
You might try advanced logging to see if anything more helpful shows up:
KB01451How to turn on advanced synchronization logging if a wired synchronization fails
This next suggestion is much more tedious, but it's a complete clean startover with the Desktop Software...if you wish to follow it, then I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB...be sure to search your registry for any related to RIM
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
Still others have reported the use of your original PIM (e.g., Outlook, NOTES, etc.) installation CD, running the "repair" process, to be helpful in some situations
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
