Problems syncing blackberry storm to new macbook

Help.  I have downloaded the information that I think is correct for the blackberry to my macbook.  When I sync, what is on my bb is not being transferred to entourage.  What do I need to do to correct this.  Thanks

Hey Erin123,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
What PIM data are you trying to synchronize to Entourage? Address Book, Calendar, etc.
Also do you sync services currently enabled in Entourage? www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB19148
Does BlackBerry Desktop Software show any errors when performing the synchronization?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Problem syncing iPhone contacts to new Macbook Pro

I have a new Macbook Pro - still getting it set up - and I just noticed that, of the several hundred contacts I have on my iPhone 5s, only 14 or so found their way to the contacts app on the Macbook Pro? Ideas about why? (I checked my phone settings and I do have contacts "on" in iCloud, so that shouldn't be the problem.) Unfortunately, this is a time when Apple Care is "experiencing an unusually high volume of calls" so I'm not getting through...

I was able to solve the problem: I dragged the folder named iPod Photo Cache to the Trash (following the instructions in: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314 and the discussion in: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11399437&#11399437)
    Thank you very much, Ingo2711!

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

    - The iTunes backup that iTunes makes included photos in the camera roll. If yo go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices what is the date of the backup? Is it when the photos were on the iPod? You have to restore from that backup.
    - What may have happened is that you backup the iPod after you restored the iPod but before restoring from backup. iTunes only keeps one backup and overwrites the previous backup with the changes.

  • Can't sync a blackberry with the new Macbook

I'm asking a question for a friend of mine who bought the new MB. She can't get her blackberry to sync using either pocketmac or missing sync. She's been talking to folks at Apple stores and pocketmac, and they've said it's a known hardware issue. So far none of the updates have made a difference. I haven't seen any posts about it here, but am wondering if anyone is aware of a solution.

see text from e-mail I received after my inquiry.
We've been hearing from customers like you that they had trouble
synching their BlackBerry handhelds with new Aluminum MacBook laptops.
They also reported trouble synching their new BlackBerry Storm.
The Aluminum MacBook issue appears to be caused by a change
Apple made to some of the hardware and software for that new model.
We recommend two items that you should download and install to
better assist with connection and synchronization:
    1. Apple OS 10.5.6 Update
    2. Blackberry USB Driver Patch/Upgrade (available at the bottom
    of this email).
Please run Apple's software update from the Apple icon ---
Software Update. After the Software Update searches for new software.
Mac OS X 10.5.6 software update should be available in the download
    list.
Please install this update. It's large and will take several
minutes to complete. After successfully installing the update, please
restart your Macintosh and continue with the instructions below...
We've just released a new, free patch is to support synching the
new BlackBerry Storm, the BlackBerry Bold 8900 and connections to the
    new
MacBook Aluminum. This patch supports both Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger")
and Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard").
At the bottom of this email, please find the download link for
    this new update.
However, please download this USB Driver ONLY if you have one of
the following items in your operating environment:
*You have a NEW Aluminum MacBook.
*You have a BlackBerry Storm 9530
*You have a BlackBerry Bold 9000
    Please download this update at:

  • I got it. Syncing Blackberry Storm using Mac with Missing Sync

I just bought my Storm Sat and have been trying to sync for days. I have a IBOOK G4 running the latest TIGER OS. I read all you guys post and I think it all helped a lot. Im a new BB user so it took me awhile to figure the phone. Ok, so anyway to the good stuff. As mentioned I followed some of the other threads, installing Pocket Mac and the updated driver. Uninstalling and re-installing. Taking the battery out and all that. None of that worked for me either like some of you. Keep getting the error message. So, I broke down and bought Missing Sync. Still wouldn't work. So, tonight I uninstalled PocketMac and deleted all files associated with off my Mac. Then I brought Missing Sync up on my Mac. On your Storm go to Options then Memory. Click on Mass Storage Mode Support select On. Then when you see Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode I selected Prompt or you could do Yes. Save Changes. Then go to Missing Sync just set what your preferences are for sync and click Sync. Boom- you are good to go.
This is what I did. It sync my Itunes and IPhoto and everything else. So, now Im at piece. Hope this will help someone. To everyone else thanks for your ideas cause it did help me with my dilemma, so I guess I will keep the Storm.

i managed to get both music and pictures onto my storm from my macbook, and from my storm to my macbook.
i had to go into options on the storm, then memory, then to "prompt" for auto enable mass storage mode when connected.
then i disconnected and re-connected the usb with pocketmac open on my macbook and it started synching. at first it synched everything BUT my music and photos. then i noticed when i plugged the usb back into my storm once more, two seperate blackberry harddrives appeared on my desktop, Blackberry1 and Blackberry2. I went into Blackberry1, then to the folder "home", then to the folder "user", then to the folders "music" and "photos" and just clicked and dragged music from my itunes library and photo library into those folders. then I tested it to make sure it worked. sounds great on the storm! it has to be done into the folders on Blackberry1 though, i tried it with Blackberry2 and even though it has the same folder names, when i tried to play the music i had dragged and dropped said it was an incompatible format. it's not the format, it's just the wrong drive.
hope this helps someone out, it worked for me!

  • Will lightning connector sync ipod classic to new macbook air

I am using 30 pin usb 1 connector with 5th grn ipod classic to sync with new macbook air, but computer rejects ipod connection with explanation usb 1 does not sufficient power to sync wih macbook. thanks in advance

Thanks. You are right, I was following the wrong trail. The problem was not with the connector but with the disorganized state of my music files, with duplicate and overlapping files of the same name, etc., following a move of the files to an external hard drive, and  the the acquisition of a new MacBook Air. No wonder the iPod didn't know what to connect to. But both answers clarified my thinking. It won't be a quick fix, but hopefully it will be a success one.

  • Problem syncing ical on iphone and macbook pro

    Hi,
After downloading ios8 I have noticed that I have problems syncing my calendars to and from my phone and computer. I have tried a variety of solutions:
    1) I have turned "on" the sync button on the phone under settings -> mail, contacts, calendars -> icloud -> calender "on"
    2) I have checked the box under system preferences in the macbook under iCloud -> calender "on"
    3) I have tried deleting both from the computer and the phone and then reloading them.
I'm out of ideas. I deleted a lot of things to make room for ios8 on my phone, so I am wondering if I disabled something or prevented syncing then, because it has been happening for about ~2 weeks since I downloaded the new software. Any ideas?

First make sure the events are being added to your iCloud calendar and not a non-iCloud calendar such as On My Mac, On My iPhone, Gmail, Yahoo, an exchange account, etc.
If you are and they still aren't syncing, the first step is to determine if the issue is with your phone or your Mac.  Add a new calendar event on each one, then check your calendar on iCloud.com to see which one doesn't appear there.
If the event from your phone doesn't appear on iCloud.com, try force-closing the calendar app and resetting your phone.  To do this, double-tap the home button, locate Calendar, swipe up on it to close it, then tap the home button again.  Then reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  After it restarts, test your calendar again.  If it still isn't syncing, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out, choose Delete from My iPhone and provide your password when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud.  Then sign back in (your data will download back to your phone) and test your calendar again.
If the even from your Mac doesn't appear on iCloud.com, go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in (your data will download back to your Mac).  Then test your calendar again.

  • Desktop Manager .ALX problem with Blackberry Storm

    Hi,
I am having trouble with the Desktop Manager when I try adding the Associated Press application to a Blackberry Storm (this application is available for free here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/builtforblackberry/news.jsp).  Just for reference:
    *Desktop Manager Version: 4.7.0.32
    *Device Software Version: 4.7.0.76
    *Phone: Blackberry 9530 smartphone
In a particular section of the .ALX file that comes in the download for the AP application there is a section defining what .COD files should be downloaded to a Storm.
    <fileset Java="1.0" _blackberryVersion="[4.7.0,)">
    <directory>470</directory>

    APNews_470_en_engine.cod
    APNews_470_en_account.cod
    </files>

Now if I try adding a "series" attribute, if I want to restrict certain versions of an application for certain phones (9500, 9530 or later phones for example).  Like this:
    <fileset Java="1.0" _blackberryVersion="[4.7.0,)" series="9500">

    APNews_470_en_engine.cod
    APNews_470_en_account.cod
    </files>
    </fileset>
I get an error message from the Desktop Manager telling me that:
"No additional applications for your device were found."
Is there a way around this, or is this issue being fixed?
Thanks in advance for any response,
    Elliott M.

this is an eternal problem with versions. In my opinion you should look at how things are done on Mozilla Firefox addons version testers.
    they use jokers like 3.0.x
which means the application is said to be valid for 3.0 and 3.0.1 and even 3.0.19.
The 4.7.0 OS is only for 9500 and 9530 OS. If there ever is another touchscreen device with 4.7, it will bear another y like ine 4.7.0.y , with y never used yet.
I hope you will find the answer you seek, though.

  • Syncing iPhone 4S to New MacBook w/o losing Phone Data

So I have an iPhone 4S, and ever since I've had it I've used my old MacBook Pro. Well I just got a new MacBook, and I want to sync my old phone up with my new iTunes.
If I sync it, will I lose all of my info, including my apps and contacts? I'm fine with losing all of my music on my phone because I recovered all of my old music and have it on my new MacBook now, and I can just re-add music to my phone. I just really don't want to lose all of my apps (especially my notes, I have a lot of good stuff in there!) and contacts.
Is there a way to sync to lose ONLY music? Thanks!

You don't have to lose anything. I'm assuming that the entire iTunes library is on your old MacBook Pro... Go back to your old computer. Go into the Music folder and the iTunes folder should be there. Copy that entire folder to your new MacBook Pro. You can do this via an external hard drive, Thunderbolt, FireWire or USB (it doesn't matter which option). Open your iTunes after that and sync your phone. You won't have a problem.
The reason this works is that your phone will think it is synced with the old MacBook Pro because the iTunes library is now the same as your old computer.

  • Problem with Snow Leopard on new macbook pro?

    OK here's the problem
I just bought a new unibody macbook pro with 17 inch screen because I had previously got a 15 inch and am now selling as I realised it doesn't have an Expresscard slot which I want to help me mix music.
The computer came with Lion and because I use all kinds of software and lots of freeware I actually want to continue using my old operating system (10.6.7) so everything runs as it did straight away.
So I installed the OSX disk that came with the 15 inch MBP on the new 17 inch MBP, and it ostensibly worked..
But now the shortcut buttons like volume and brightness don't work, no matter whether I check or uncheck the box in System Preferences about "standard function keys".. and when I click on Trackpad it claims "No Trackpad found"
Bit miffed..any ideas what's going on?
    thanks

The grey disks come with hardware drivers that are specific to a particular Mac model.
You also cannot boot from OS X install disks that are earlier than what the Mac came with from the factory (in this case Lion)
Your in luck that you have another Mac, because all you need is a Firewire cable to (first step) hold T boot the new Mac's hard drive to the desktop of the older Mac.
But you need the Snow Leopard retail install disks (white, not grey) to (second step) c boot off the older Mac so you can Disk Utility Erase and format HFS and install Snow Leopard on the new Mac.
Snow Leopard will boot off some 2011 Lion Mac machine because the hardware drivers exist on Snow Leopard disks, just have to have the right disks and the grey disks from another Mac doesn't do it.
You may want to take a look at this thread, there are instructions to combine the 10.6.3 and the Combo Update into one disk and more help.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3264421?start=0&tstart=0
Once you get Snow Leopard working on your machine, be sure to make a Carbon Copy Cloner or two to a HFS external drives as you have no boot disks.

  • Syncing iphone data into New Macbook Pro

    Hey guys,
I read a few answers on the forum but I want clear confirmation if any of you could help. I lost data on my Macbook Pro as the hard drive crashed. I bought a new Macbook Pro and I want to sync the data of the iphone into the new computer.
I need to transfer, mainly...SMSes, Contacts, Photos, and mail data (My mail is all IMAP though which is good right? perhaps transfer that information would be nice).
Applications and the data on them if possible and music would be good.
Isit safe and as easy as plug and sync? I also have a Fruux Account but the iphone data is more updated because while awaiting my new laptop, I was using my iphone as the temporary computer.
Is there anything else I should do first? Sync Fruux first or vice versa and should I do anything else?
    Thank you!

Good, glad you have a backup. So what you need to do is move those libraries from your PC to the new MBP and then import them into iTunes. Follow the instructions you will find here. I would recommend you move the files to an external HD.
Prior to doing that I would also recommend you read over Switch 101 and Mac 101. Both of these links will provide you invaluable information for someone making the switch from a PC to a Mac.
    Regards,
    Roger

  • How do I sync Iphone 5 to new MacBook Pro without deleting what's on iPhone?

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and I have an iPhone 5 that has been synced with my PC.  When I try and sync the iPhone with the new MacBook ti tells me that it will erase what is on the iPhone and replace it with what is on the MacBook.  I want to sync all that is on the iPhone with the MacBook and not delete what is on the iPhone.
How do I do that without loosing any music, emails, photos, calender appointments, etc.?
Thank you for the help in advance.

A device can only sync with one library at a time.  Ideally you transfer the library from the PC to the Mac so it is still syncing with the same library.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
Windows users see tip at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18879381
If you put it in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
If you don't have the library anymore then it gets messy.  You will have to use third party software to transfer the phone contents to the Mac and rebuild your library there so its content matches that of the old library so you are syncin the content back to the phone.
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Syncing Ipod Touch to new MacBook Pro

I have just purchased this MacBook and am trying to sync my Ipod Touch. The Itunes software did not see the Ipod, so following online instructions, I reset my iPod to New status. The Itunes program still does not "see" the ipod. The ipod meanwhile is asking to connect to Itunes in order to sync. When changing computers I "migrated' the HD data from my previous computer. What can I do ??

Make sure Apple Mobile Device Service is installed and try to connect in recovery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Did you use Time Machine to back up your Mac or do you still have access to your last backup? If yes, copy the iTunes ipod backup folder to your new Macbook and restore your ipod from that backup.
