Problems syncing contact list

My iPhone 3GS running on 5.0.1 won't update my contact list while syncing to my iMac (10.6.8). This just happened after a recent update. It syncs the calendar and other applications.

The iPhone is not designed to be the master - the iPhone is designed to be compliment for your computer with the ability to sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process with the supported application on your computer being the "master" for this data, which should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data.
Contacts are not stored by iTunes. Which supported address book application on your computer were you syncing contacts with and is used for storing and accessing contacts on your computer? Is the supported address book application on your computer up to date for your contact info?

Outlook 2011 problem syncing contacts with address book

I am aware that Lion has broken the sync ability of Outlook 2011 with Address Book. Hopefullly this will be fixed at some point.
So my problem is that I have decided to use a workaround to get my Address Book contents into Outlook 2011. I am not concerned with further syncing at this point. I just want to get my addresses into Outlook and hope a better fix is offered at some point.
About the only way I could figure out how to do this was to export my Address Book as vCard. I then imported the vCard file into Gmail and then exported that as a CSV file. It contained 550 addresses. I opened it in Excel and it contained 550 rows. Great so far.
I then Imported into Outlook 2011 and chose import a text file. When the mapping window opened, it showed over 890 files instead of 550 and the fields were not mapped correctly. I could not complete the import because it was so screwed up.
So I'm back to square one and very frustrated. There must be others who have the same issue and maybe have figured out a way to do this. Please help.

Problems Syncing Contacts Across iOS 8

Hey guys (I'll keep this as brief as possible),
In case you need to know my device models/OS to help me, here they are:
iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0.2)
iPad 3rd Gen (iOS 8.0.2)
Macbook Pro w/ Ret (OS X Mav 10.9.5)
I've been trying to sync "Contacts" across all 3 devices via iCloud to no avail. I've edited my iPhone contacts list extensively, so I'm trying to sync that over to my iPad and my Macbook Pro, but it's not working. On both the iPhone and iPad, I've turned the "Contacts" toggle off and then on under the iCloud tab in settings, and that didn't do anything. I don't think it's a problem with iCloud, because it's updating my "Reminders" across all 3 devices just fine, but isn't taking any of my contact adjustments that I'm making on my iPhone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time, everyone!

Outlook / PC Sync Contacts List

Nokia 6681 sync with Outlook 2003 via Bluetooth, PC Suite 6.70.22, on PC with Windows XP SP2.
If I add a contact in Outlook 2003 and then sync, the new contact does not show in the Contact Browser in PC Suite. However,the contact does show up on the Contact list in the phone itself. Therefore, the Contact Browser does not reflect the full list of contacts, either in Outlook or on the phone itself. Can anyone help me in determining why?
Alternatively, if I enter the new contact directly into the Contact Browser, and then sync, the contact will then show up in Outlook. However, if I later make any edits to the contact in Outlook, the changes will not be reflected in Contact Browser, but will show up on the phone itself.
If I delete the contact in Phone Browser, and then sync, the contact will not be deleted in Outlook. Instead, I would have to make the deletion directly in Outlook, as well as in Phone Browser. Again any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help, but your suggestion to update the contacts using the Phone icon in the Phone Browser does not solve the problem.
I can sync in both directions between Outlook 2003 and the 6681 itself, so no problem here.
However, I can sync in only one direction between the Phone Browser (Contacts View) and the 6681; ie, if I enter a contact into the Browser, it will show up on the phone. However,if I enter a contact into the phone itself, it will not show up on the Browser after syncing.
And, I cannot sync in either direction between Outlook and the Browser.
Please note that I have the sync direction set as Update in Both Directions, and under conflict resolution, I have selected Outlook.
Any further suggestions would be much appreciated.

Problems sync contacts

Hi all
just a quick question, I am using the latest 2.1 ovi suite and the other day I went to syc my contacts and ended up having a lot of duplicates on my phone (nokia 5800), I logged into to ovi via the web and saw that all these contacts were duplicated on the website, I was wondering how did this happen?, and also is there anyway I can set it so that when I syc my contacts it updates them from the phone to the web, but it doesn't touch the contacts in the phone??

I had a similar problem after updating my Asha 311 phone and the Nokia Suite to 3.8.30. I was not able to update the contact list.
I had to copy the list from the old file to the new phone contact list and sync them or more less copy them. It worked to perfection.

Problem with contact list in email w/ 3.0

After upgrading to 3.0 I'm having a problem with the "To" in emails. I start typing in a name in the "To" field and it does not bring up matching entries in my contact list (it used to do so with the previous version SW).
I have to try to send the email at which time an error message comes up. I have to cancel the send, delete the name in the "To" field and type the name in again. The second time it brings up the contact list and eveything works fine.
Anyone else having this problem?

THANK YOU! I have been using companion link up until you posted this. This makes it so much easier to keep my business contacts on my phone. Much faster too! I use the Exchange Server so I'm hoping by doing this, my contacts will be synced via wireless. I'll let you know if it works. Thanks again for the great post.

Problems syncing Contacts from Mac to iphone - popup says script error MM

Hi, when I did my initial sync from my MBP to the iphone all worked great. But when I made some changes to my Address Book on the MBP yesterday and did a manual sync, those changes were not picked up by the iphone - I tried several times So I logged onto MM to check, clicked on the Contacts icon and got a busy symbol. The folder headings of my address book appeared then I had a popup appear to say that a script was having a problem on the page and I could continue or stop it. I tried continue a few times and eventually had to stop it, the busy symbol just continued. My contacts were never displayed. I tried it this morning and it is the same, is this the cause of my syncing probs and if so how do I fix it.

Are you syncing contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, or over the air with MM on your iPhone?
If you are doing the former, this has nothing to do with a problem with your MM online address book.
If you are doing the former, try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder.
Quit iTunes and launch iSync.
At iSync preferences, select reset sync history.
Restart your Mac and try syncing with iTunes again.

I have just resolved this problem with my Ipod not syncing and freezing in Itunes, I realised that I had deleted some of the source files that were loaded into Itunes from my hard drive while I was dumping old files, the reuslt was when Itunes was looking for them to load during syncing it just froze stopping it from syncing when it did not find them and I had to switch my PC off to clear it:- this is what I did:- after rebooting my computer I Switched on Itunes and switched off the auto Syncing option, connected my Ipod (120gb classic), then when my Ipod showed up in Itunes I deleted all of the songs and films I had referenced in libraries (more then 2500 files),then reloaded from files that I knew I had on my hard drive "result" it worked, I dont really understand fully how Itunes works but I suspect that you must keep the source file that you have put in Itunes because it does not copy the whole file it just creates a link then if you delete the file Itunes can not find it and it freezes, locking Itunes and your ipod, Hope this helps

Problems syncing contacts etc

I have got a problem syncing my Address Book contacts, iCal and Safari bookmarks to my iPad 2. When I select to sync this information in the 'Info' field when connected to iTunes, I get the following message:
'Are you sure you want to remove 49 apps from the iPad “Nico Juetten’s iPad”? This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad.'
I get the same if I use the Advanced option.
(iPad software is 4.3.3 (8J2) and iTunes is 10.2.2 (12), running on MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.7)
Can anyone help please?

Are the iPad applications on the Mac? Do you also selected syncing the Apps?
You can transfer the purchased items from the iPad: Right-click on the iPad in iTunes (on the left side) and hit "Transfer Purchases from .." (Have a look at the Support Document)

New moto e 2nd gen problem with contact list,. all email in my contacts

Please help. I just switched phones to the new Moto E 2nd gen AT&T from virgin mobile. My contacts are over 1500, it grabbed in to my contact list any email contact i ever received or sent. I only want phone numbers my contacts. I tried deleting them but doing one at a time would take weeks. How do I get just my contact PHONE list off my old galaxy 3 to my new moto e phone and not the email address??

Try viewing your contacts with the steps below! Hope this helps!
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
Touch Contacts.
Press the Menu button.
Touch Display group.
Select the contact group to display (i.e. All contacts, Favorites, Google, Phone Contacts, etc.).

New pocketmac 4.1 and problems syncing contact pics and no full powerPC support.

i just got the new pocketmac 4.1 in hopes that it would support syncing of 'contact images'. I have set up my apple address book to show an image for each of my contacts and was hoping it would be able to sync over. (doing this manually would take way too long).
to my surprise there was finally a checkbox option to enable syncing of contact images.
to my dismay, even though '2 way sync' is checked, contact images are only synced 1 way. blackberry --> address book.
is there any way to get it to sync bb <---> address book or address book ---> bb?
edit: it also seems as though this newer version doesn't FULLY support the older PowerPC architecture as "datapurgeUI" isn't a UB. it won't run at all on my powerbook g4. this leaves me with no way to clear my blackberry's calendar (which is full of dupes)

I'm surprised at what you mentioned about only syncing contact images from BB to AddressBook. Frankly I only thought it worked the other way as that's what mine has done.
Could your BB be set to overwrite the Mac so it's only pulling the contact images in one direction?

so help yourself. It's appalling that they don't mention this anywhere in their documentation. It's also strange that this is only available off of some file sharing site and not from Pocketmac or RIM directly.

Un-syncing contact list

I synced all my gmail contacts into my iphone and don't want these there anymore. I have undone this now on iTunes but how do I now get all my unwanted contacts out of my iphone?

Create a new user account on your computer...
Sync contacts...
When it tells you to merge or replace...
Replace.
Its as simple as that...Just make sure that you have a secondary source of your content otherwise if you delete it and do not...it is gonzo

Problems syncing contacts after upgrading to Windows 7

I used to be able to sync my Iphone4 with Windows Mail contacts without a problem. Stupidly upgraded to Windows 7 which pretty much forced me to go to Window Live Mail. Now my contacts on my iphone don't sync with the contacts on Windows live mail (contacts). Any suggestions? I'm fully prepared to accept user error!

I actually managed to find a way around my original problem:
When following operation fails:
Menu=>File=>Get Photos and Videos=>From Files and Folders
=>(open a network drive folder, in this case it was mapped to drive letter M:)
=>Try to select folder icon from Drive M with folder name "Photos" by clicking it with mouse
Result:
Selected folder disappears from list.
How to go around this:
Menu=>File=>Get Photos and Videos=>From Files and Folders
=>(open a network drive folder, in this case it was mapped to drive letter M:)
=> Write a folder name "Photos" manually to Filename: field => Press Open
Result:
Now folder was opened correctly.
So there just seems to be a bug in this PSE8 file selector dialog.

Problems syncing contacts

I have a problem which I hope you can help me with.
Say I have a contact called "Joe" [last name blank] in my contactlist on my Iphone and in my Address Book and I'd like to keep him as just "Joe" because I have other Joes in my contactlist. When I sync in Itunes it automatically fills in Joe's last name so the contact now reads "Joe Smith". The only way I can rectify this is by manually removing his last name on my Iphone contactlist and in Address Book and this only lasts till next time I sync. I have a hunch it has something to do with the relation to his email. In my inbox I have emails from Joe that reads his full name "Joseph Smith". This email-address is of course typed in as Joes email-address in my contactlist.
So, in short, I want to keep "Joe" as just "Joe". I have tried to describe the problem as thoroughly as possible. Hope someone can help.

Two things you can try, one of which I know will work:
1. Change the contact in question to a business in Address Book on your computer. The field for the business name is only one field. Then delete the contact in question on your phone & sync. You'll end up with just "Joe" listed, but it will be listed as a business.
2. You can try entering as a regular contact in Address Book, but for the last name, instead of leaving the last name field blank, try typing in blank spaces using the space bar. Then, delete the contact in question on your phone & sync. Can't say whether this will work, as I have not tried it myself, but the first suggestion will work.
Also, reset sync history before you do either of the above. That's done through isync in your applications folder, under preferences. Make sure itunes is closed & then reboot your computer when done resetting sync history.
