Problems Syncing - greyed out playlist

There is one particular album I am trying to sync to my iphone which I imported and it shows on itunes on the playlist of my iphone but the songs seem greyed out and there are dotted circles next to all songs by the track numbers and it just doesnt sync the album and isnt on my phone - any HELP would be appreciated!

What you're describing is normal behavior. So I think the tutorial must be showing code/design view. Try switching to code/design, and see if that helps.

  • Songs not syncing - greyed out & dotted circle next to them

    When I updated my iPod Touch 5th gen to IOS 8.1 most of my artwork did not sync.
    Today I updated to IOS 8.1.1 in the hope this would sort the above problem. SOME of the missing artwork has been restored but not all. however
    the recent additions to my library from CD and purchases from a supplier other than iTunes Store are now showing under Recent Purchases and are
    GREYED OUT WITH A DOTTED CIRCLE next to them.  They are showing & playing correctly in my library on my PC.  Can anyone help to explain this.
    APPLE - IF YOU WANT TO LOSE LONG STANDING CUSTOMERS YOU ARE CERTAINLY MAKING A GOOD JOB OF THAT WITH ALL THESE PROBLEMS !.

    Tried to sync again today in hope.
    The Good News - All the greyed out & circled items have synced to my iPod.
    Now the Weird News - 1) Although the items have synced they still are greyed out with circle when you look at Music under My Device.
    2) Of the 6227 items ticked to sync from my library of 8000 there has been 6414 synced - 50 songs purchased very recently from iTunes Store have duplicated & another 137 random songs show a cloud with downward arrow which were items which were unticked  in my library so should not have been synced. 3) It is showing 44.14 GB of free space when there is only 2.9 GB of space left.
    APPLE - Every time I update or sync my iPod my stress levels now go through the roof. If any other companies goods/services had this much hassle they would be out of business !

  • Cannot sync (sync greyed out in iTunes, and unavailable on iTunes).

    I can't sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes (on a Windows XP computer).  Both are the latest versions (I had 10.6 iTunes which itunes told me was the latest, and discovered 11 is available which I believe I downloaded, both of which had the same problem).  The sync button is greyed out in iTunes.  I've tried wi-fi and cable syncs...neither of which has worked.
    This seems to be a common problem, I've seen forum postings on this subject going back to 2011, and as recent as a few days ago, and still no solutions presented.  I've spent hours over the last week and this weekend looking for a solution.

    Just in case anyone has the same problem and stumbles upon my unanswered thread, I found a work-around.  Not sure if step 1 is necessary, but its the path I took.
    1.  Reset your iPhone (from off, hold down on button with home for 10 secs, then continue holding home) and follow prompts for resetting in iTunes.  Note, this will wipe out your apps, some of which I paid for...not sure if they're gone forever...
    2.  Download 3rd party program "MediaMonkey".  I know, its ghetto, but whatever works.  MediaMonkey is essentially a 3p iTunes.
    3.  MediaMonkey will find and load your iTunes material saved to your PC/Mac.
    4.  Sync in MediaMonkey.  Fairly userfriendly/obvious how to do this.
    Thanks Apple, your turning into a real POS company.  As noted, my next phone purchase will not be with you and I'll certainly share this experience I've had with others.  Continue to focus on your cool hipster marketing scheme, and not on your product, so you can sell your crop to generations and generations of yuppies for years to come.

  • HT1923 iphone sync greyed out

    I have reinstallled I tunes and it is still greyed out?

    Just to clarify I have a 1 month old Iphone4s, sync was fine as of Aug.25th, but for some reason today it doesn't work.
    Same result on both computers, it doesn't show the Iphone when I hook it up.
    Not the cord, or the ports since the Ipads I have both still work.
    This  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US  does not help.
    Any ideas??

  • Problems syncing Top 25 Playlist post 3.1 update

    My Top 25 playlist is not syncing right to my iPhone 3GS after I updated to 3.1...I thought maybe it was a problem with iTunes 9 so I tried it again after updating to 9.0.1 & it's still not right
    anyone else have this problem?

    yes - I noticed the problem yesterday - I synched a few times and finally the playlists loaded
    I have several playlists with settings to load the most recent items that work fine in iTunes but when they get to the iphone they have the oldest podcasts rather than the latest
    I saw the notes in the 9.0.1 update that they had fixed some issues - but they did not fix this one
    now I can't create playlists that will load the most recent files - this is running on a Mac too.
    Apple should roll back to a working version

  • Sync greyed out

    Recently upgraded my ipad 2 and iphone 4 to ios 5 but didn't upgrade my wife's iphone 3. Iphone 4 and ipad now wont sync to itunes but the iphone 3 will sync and has no issues - all on the same itunes account. Tried a complete reinstall of itunes, turned off icloud, restored iphone 4 to earlier date, added apple products to ignore list on PC secruity, spent hours trying different setting, but nothing! Has anyone out there got any ideas,

    try removing the itunes program and then re-install it. that's one reccomendation they gave me when everything else seemed to fail for the issue i was having.

  • Greyed-out songs problem

    First off, I'd like to start by saying that I'm sorry if I there are other threads that already talked about this. I tried googling for solutions, but I could not find any one article that could help my current problem.
    After downloading my songs onto my iTunes, I tried to sync the songs to my iPhone. That's when the "Greyed-out" songs started showing up. In the Library itself, the songs are normal, playable. But under "Devices" -> Music, the songs appear "greyed-out" with a circle being created with two arrows that do not move. Furtherrmore, the "grey-out" song(s) does not sync to my iPhone. Below is a picture of the problem.
    Again, the song is plays perfectly fine in the Library. However, it will not play under the Devices -> Music category nor will it appear on my iPhone. Please help me. I am tired of this problem and would like a quick solution. If there was a thread with the exact same problem, please post the link to said thread IF there is a solution. It is much appreciated.
    I already tried one of the solutions that worked one time but doesn't seem to work now. The solution involved logging out of one's Apple account then logging back in. As I said, this one doesn't seem to work for me anymore. Any help and input is appreciated. Thanks.

    All right I have figured out "my problem" with the Greyed-out playlist
    1. I backed up my music files to an external hard drive and an old iPod that I had. I did not remove anything from my iPhone 4s or update it, I left it alone.
    2. Completely removed iTunes from my computer ( this will work for a PC only,I don't own a mac)
         control panel, remove iTunes
         Start menu>Search bar> "regedt32"   (this opens your registry, you may be prompted "Windows need your permissions to continue" just click continue)
         Once your registry is opened
    make sure "computer" is selected
    press "CTRL + F"
    search iTunes
    delete all associated files, extensions etc with "iTunes"
    after all that is completed restart, its Microsoft
    3. Open up your Internet browser and download the latest and greatest iTunes and install it on your computer
    4. After you install the program DO NOT CONNECT YOUR iPod or iPhone
    5. Open iTunes> Store> Authorize this computer
    If you get the "iTunes hangs on access iTunes store" follow these steps, my iTunes did this
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt
    (Win 7/Vista) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 an above) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in netsh winsock reset Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now. My iTunes started working
    6. I connected my old iPod, it populated my playslist/songs/movies I was using before
    After this loaded I connected my iPhone and to my surprise my phone started automatically syncing
    All 3000 songs are now able to be played on my phone, now all I have to do is update the Mrs. phone tonight
    I hope this helps you and your problems with the infamous "greyed-out playlist"
    Cheers,

  • Itunes 10.6.1.7 I have 2 sets of playlists the first set displays greyed out lists and does not work The second set is fine. How do I get rid of the non working set of playlists?

    I have 2 sets of playlists in the sidebar of itunes. I have recently upgraded to 10.6.1.7 but this condition remains the same
    The top list refers to greyed out listings and does not function
    The list below works fine
    How do I get rid of the "false" list?

    I think the greyed out playlists must be listed from your device which is set up to mirror your library. Because the device is synced you can't edit content directly on the device. From the top of the left-hand column do you have?
    Library > Music, Movies...
    Store > iTunes Store, iTunes Match...
    Devices > <Your Device> > Music, Movies, and all the other "dummy" lists...
    Genius > Genius, Genius Mixes...
    Playlists > iTunes DJ, and then all your playlist folders and playlists...
    If so then that is perfectly normal when your device is connected, either directly or over wi-fi and you have the lists expanded. Simply click the small triangle to the left of the device name to hide all the playlists.

  • How to disable (grey-out) the ticks of a JSlider?

    Hi everyone,
    In my GUI, I have a JSlider that I want to be disabled (greyed out)
    because it should be only actived on my application next version.
    (It is important though to have it to preserve GUI appearence).
    Problem is that I was unable to greyout the ticks even though
    already managed to grey out the slider and the number labels.
    Right now, it is pretty uggly to have a partial disabled slider,
    because due to ticks not being disabled.
    Questions:
    1) Does anyone have an idea of how to do it?
    A small part of my code is shown below:
    JSlider dynSl = new JSlider();
    dynSl.setMajorTickSpacing(1);
    dynSl.setValue(0); //Default
    dynSl.setMaximum(7);
    dynSl.setMinimum(0);
    dynSl.setPaintLabels(true);
    dynSl.setPaintTicks(true);
    dynSl.setFont(new java.awt.Font("Dialog", 0, 9));
    dynSl.setSnapToTicks(true);
    dynSl.setEnabled(false);
    // small code just to put the numbers of the slider smaller
    Enumeration enum = dynSl.getLabelTable().elements();
    while (enum.hasMoreElements()) {
    JLabel elem = (JLabel)enum.nextElement();
    elem.setFont(new Font("Dialog",0,8));
    elem.setEnabled(false);
    2) If not possible, how do I change the colour of a JSlider (including
    the Ticks)?
    My idea is to change Slider's colour to the same grey colour one used
    to disable it, making at the end the slider look as if it was disabled.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jorge

    Hi again,
    Thanks for the help.
    I was trying to avoid not having the ticks at all but it seems to be
    the best choise because I could not solve the problem of greying out
    them.
    I did some more troubleshooting though and for my surprise, if I use
    the same code alone, i.e, a simple frame with just the slider it works
    fine. I even thought that it was related with having Windows LnF as
    opposed to Metal (Java) LnF, but that was not the problem.
    The only thing it comes to mind, is that there may be some problem by including the slider on a GridBagLayout !?!?!?
    Anyway,
    What has no simple solution, solved is! :-)

  • I've had a problem with syncing itunes, when i sync it dosent sync songs previously deleted it just greys them out, which is great but if i want to add a new video or song from my computer it wont sync it will just grey out and wont play. now all my songs

    ive had a problem syncing with itunes recently. when i delete a song on my iphone when i sync with my computer it still syncs but just greys out and is rendered useless. thats great unless i when i want to add new music or videos from my pc to my iphone it wont sync and will just grey out. i looked for solutions and one said that deleteing all your music from the usage in settings would fix it, well now when i sync all of my music is greyed out. ive tried adding all of my songs manually into my ipod instead of syncing entire library and nothing. (also when i select to sync music nothing shows up in the usage bar (normally 3 gigs)  might help) could someone please help?

    I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
    The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
    if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
    Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
    turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • I can no longer sync new music i've downloaded into my iTunes library onto my phone. When i click the playlist "recently added" under my phone on my computer it just shows all the songs greyed out with a dotted circle on the left hand side. Any clue why?

    For Example: like this makes no sense. is it because it wasnt purchased directly from itunes? If so thats ridiculous. I've had an iphone for over a year, and a macbook for over 2 years. my phone is completley updated to 7.0.3 and my computer is completley updated with the new itunes 11.1.12 which i thought was supposed to help this problem. I've never had this problem, and its extremely frustrating.

    I downloaded one of the file explorer programs (iFunbox in my case) for my PC and deleted everything out of the "Purchases" folder on the phone's "Raw File System". After a couple of syncs with iTunes everything was back to normal. It appears that something was screwed up on the iPhone side that iTunes couldn't sort out. I don't think anything could sync from iTunes to the phone, not just the greyed out items.
    This is why resetting and restoring the iPhone also works for a lot of people. It's overkill though, deletes your app data, and just wastes your time setting everything back up after the restore. Better to use the surgical approach of a file system explorer program on your PC to fix what appears to be a mundane data corruption issue.
