Problems syncing my ipod

i have just recently downloaded the updates for Safari, iTunes, iPod and Aperture. Now after Syncing my iPod all the photos have been deleted (approx 20000 of them!). When i re sync i get the message: cannot sync because the file is missing. what file? has anyone had a similar problem? Any idea how to solve it?
the trouble is because all the software had updates being posted out i don't know which is the problem one.

Try delting the iPod Photo cache folder.  for its location see:

  • Problems syncing my ipod touch 4th gen

I am having problems syncing my ipod touch 4th gen to itunes.  I keep getting an error message stating iTunes could not back up the iPod "name of ipod" because an error occured.  My daughter and I both use the same computer to sync our ipod's and this problem only occurs when I try to sync mine.  It works fine syncing hers and I have tried to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it.  Please help

Try placing the iPod backup file in a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new file.  It is located here:
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.

I have no idea. It is not listed in any App articles and a Google search did not even find a hit for the error number.
    All I can suggest is:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

  • Problems syncing the iPod touch

My iPod Touch synced fine at first, but now all I get is an error message
"The iPod (xxx)cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." What am I doing wrong? I have tried resetting it, restarting it. Now tempted to 'relocate' it into the garbage .... Help!

I am having a similar problem with my iPod Touch. I have a fairly full iPod with 16Gb. capacity. I sync calendars, contacts music video and podcasts. For some reason when I include my selection of photos I get "This iPod cannot be synced. Unknown error -50."
If I leave the photos out it seems to work. Also, I have tried a restore, and now I have lost my notes ( I have the January software update)
Any ideas what is going wrong?

  • Problems Syncing New iPod Touch 5g

Ever since I got my new iPod a few days ago I have been having an extremely hard time syncing my iPod. The first time I went to plug it in to sync, everything worked perfectly and all my songs and videos from my previous iPod were on my new one. Now I try to put new songs onto it from some cd's I got and other stuff, but it just will not work. When I plug my iPod into my computer with the cord that came with it, an error message pops up onto my computer saying "USB Device not Recognized" so of course with that, iTunes does not recognize it either. The few times that I do plug my iPod in and iTunes recognizes it, it will sync for only a minute or so if even, and then an error will occur and the "USB Device no Recognized" sign will pop up once again. I decided after trying to get songs onto my new iPod and also after syncing a few times saw that it was putting multiples of my purchased songs onto my iPod that I would restore it and try it again, I've had no luck. This is beginning to get very frustrating because I have over 1,000 songs that I would like to put onto my iPod and I don't know what to do. Could someone possibly tell me if this has been happening to more than just me. How can I fix this? Also, sometimes when I plug my iPod in it will say to connect it to the 2.0 USB for it to work faster, the problem with this is that I have no idea where it is on my computer and I've tried plugging it into all of the USB outlets on my computer that I know of. If someone could please tell me what to do, it would save me, I don't know how much longer I can put up with this without throwing my computer out the window.

    - First I would do:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    - Next try on anoterh computer to help determine if y have a computer or iPod/cable problem
    - Also try another cable if you have one. Some 5G iPod where shipped with defective cables.
    - It cold also be a computer problem. The iPod requires USB 2 ports.
    - Does your computer have USB 2 portsd? How old is the iPod.
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Problems syncing my iPod touch.

Help! I recently got a touch 4th generation iPod. This is my first touch and Im a little stuck.
Whenever I download new music onto my library it works fine but when I try to plug in my iPod to sync it a drop down menu comes up and I have to add all the music to my iPod before I can sync it and everytime I get on I have to re-do  my whole library. Sometimes it wont even let me transfer the music to my ipod.
How can I get rid of it so that I can sync my iPod directly with my library?  Anybody else had this problem before? I love my touch but this is frustrating.

  • Problems syncing my iPod Touch after I updated to iOS 8.1

    Hi,
Yesterday, I tried to sync my iPod Touch with iTunes. It was taking a considerable longer time then it generally takes. Finally, it said there not enough room on my iPod, but I should have had  more than enough... I had about 5 gigs available. After I began taking music, videos etc off, I found out that the other content was taking up about 30 gigs. I ended up resetting the iPod. Now it's having problems syncing music, movies & tv.

I have a ipod nano and pc-Windows Vista. Tried to sync my ipod to iTunes for some recent songs, but when I go to file and then to where it states "sync ipod" it is not in bold letters to where I can click it to sync. My ipod was hooked up to the computer and it use to automatically sync, but not this time, I have had no previous problems in the past. Suggestions as to what might be wrong or what I might be over looking?

Why not? What happens when you try?  Any error messages?  If so, what is the exact wording of these error messages?

  • Problems sync'ing iPod with iTunes

I purchased some episodes of The Office through iTunes recently. Initially these episodes appeared on my iPod after sync'ing. Now, when I sync, the episodes will not transfer to my iPod. They appear in my iTunes account, the checkboxes are checked, but I can't get them on my iPod.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any thoughts?
    Dell   Windows XP

    Disregard.
I found an option in iTunes where you can set the Play Count to zero. When this is set to zero and you sync your iPod, all content appears on your iPod.
Not sure if this is the best solution, but it works.

  • Problem: syncing my iPod changes song sorting info

Most times when I plug in my 5th gen 30 GB "Classic" iPod and sync with iTunes, the "sync" action will change the "sorting" ID tags on some of my existing songs and will change the way my songs appear in iTunes.  For example, the text inside the "Sort Album" field may change to the text that is associated with the purchased music (i.e. The Who Sell Out will change to The Who Sell Out (Remastered)).
Also when I sync the music, the way my music appears to be categorized in iTunes and on the iPod may change (i.e. a song's genre will appear as Rock instead of Alternative) but the change isn't reflected in the song's information.  In fact, when I open the Get Info window, it'll show me the unchanged genre, album name, etc., and when I click OK, it changes the categorization in the iTunes back to normal.  At this point I would need to re-sync the iPod to get the correct categorization back on the iPod.
This all may sound a bit confusing, but in fact it is a but frustrating.  I have to spend time every often going back through my music to re-classify it the way I want it.  The songs that often do this (but not always) were purchased through the iTunes Store.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Are there any Preferences or other things I can change in iTunes to stop this?

I've a similar issue that appears after I change the genre from Rock to Heavy Metal for example.
When I purchase a album on iTunes I always have to change the genre as the default one is not correct. iTunes on my Macbook accepts this genre change but my iPad/iPhone do not. When I try to sync the songs after the genre update they just simply do not sync. I see on my iPhone the songs greyed out with the circle in front indicating that these have still to be synced but they never do.
This seems to have something to do with the iTunes connection on my iPhone checking the iTunes content and meta data and the data that is provided from my iTunes library which obvious does not match the genre anymore.
    SOLUTION for this is to:
backup my iPhone/iPad to my Macbook
Restore the iPhone/iPad with a fresh iOS installation
Restore the backup I made in step 1
Somehow the connection is than broken and you are able to sync the songs with their updated genre information.
This should be an easy taks as Apple should know that the genres they provide in the first place are very generic (for obviouse reasons though) and users would most likely change those for more detailed subgenres.
Needless to say that this is a major workaround and a pain in the a** as you need to do this every time when you buy a song that you change the meta data from.

  • Problems syncing new ipod nano

I was given a 7th generation ipod nano for Christmas. I installed itunes and it downloaded some of my music to the ipod including two books I had bought from Audible. It then refused to sync anything else, not even the music I've bought from itunes store. I've removed the audible files from the ipod and from the itunes library but I still can't add anything to the ipod. When itunes opens up it says sync is complete, but there are still only two albums on the ipod. I've tried restoirng the settings on  the ipod and when I tried to uninstall itunes my computer crashed, but itunes are still there with the same problems. I've now lost hours trying to resolve this

    Hello JoJo717,
Congratulations on your new iPod nano!  It sounds like you have one computer but multiple iPods.  There are a three options when syncing multiple devices to one computer, and the article below outlines these methods.  I recommend reviewing the article to find a method that would work for you:

  • Problems Syncing New Ipod

I brought my old ipod in to be fixed at the apple store today and they just gave me a new one. (this is a 30gig 5th gen). so i plugged it in and it starts updating and after about 300 songs it freezes.(this happened when i first got my old ipod as well). itunes froze as well, and so i waited a while and unplugged the ipod and tried again. this time it synced two songs and froze. ive been doing this all night and after about two songs the ipod will make like a repetitive clicking sound and freeze. this is pretty frustrating... is there anything i can do to fix this?

I had this happen once to me. What was my problem was a file had been corrupted and that was where it was bogging down. Can you figure out where it is stopping. Delete that file and it should work fine after that. Or at least that is how I did it.

  • Problem sync iTunes+iPod

According to iTunes, I have 5,15GB of songs in my library. However, iTunes won't allow me to sync them to my iPod touch 8GB, saying I need to clear 3 GB. How do I solve this problem?

    - Only sync selected items, not your whole library. See:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
    - Converting the songs to a less bitrate will allow more songs. Go to the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes and chance the box that says convert higher bitrate songs to XXX ksps Acc. I would select 128 kbps.

  • I have a problem syncing my IPOD to ITUNES. ITUNES is stuck on stage 5

I have had my IPOD touch 64gb for about 2 years. Usually I have some sort of interface problem with ITUNES and my IPOD.
I have downloaded the newest IOS. I have downloaded the latest ITUNES.
This morning I was having trouble getting the IPOD to add some music from CD's (like it wouldnt recognize my songs), so I restored my IPOD to factory settings. Everything went ok until I noticed at the top of ITUNES in the box that it was stuck on Stage 5, and its not downloading anything. Been that way for over an hour. What can I do now?? Jeff (thanks in advance)
I also restarted my PC. Basically 2 problems. The one I mentioned and getting IPOD to recognize my CD music. thanks.

    Try:
    Reset your iPod
Getting the latest version of iTunes by clicking Software Update which is in the apple at the top left hand corner of the screen
Or, when you hook up your iPod, on the summary page uncheck Manually Manage Music and Videos. This may help. Also look here:
