Problems Syncing New iPod Touch 5g

Ever since I got my new iPod a few days ago I have been having an extremely hard time syncing my iPod. The first time I went to plug it in to sync, everything worked perfectly and all my songs and videos from my previous iPod were on my new one. Now I try to put new songs onto it from some cd's I got and other stuff, but it just will not work. When I plug my iPod into my computer with the cord that came with it, an error message pops up onto my computer saying "USB Device not Recognized" so of course with that, iTunes does not recognize it either. The few times that I do plug my iPod in and iTunes recognizes it, it will sync for only a minute or so if even, and then an error will occur and the "USB Device no Recognized" sign will pop up once again. I decided after trying to get songs onto my new iPod and also after syncing a few times saw that it was putting multiples of my purchased songs onto my iPod that I would restore it and try it again, I've had no luck. This is beginning to get very frustrating because I have over 1,000 songs that I would like to put onto my iPod and I don't know what to do. Could someone possibly tell me if this has been happening to more than just me. How can I fix this? Also, sometimes when I plug my iPod in it will say to connect it to the 2.0 USB for it to work faster, the problem with this is that I have no idea where it is on my computer and I've tried plugging it into all of the USB outlets on my computer that I know of. If someone could please tell me what to do, it would save me, I don't know how much longer I can put up with this without throwing my computer out the window.

- First I would do:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
- Next try on anoterh computer to help determine if y have a computer or iPod/cable problem
- Also try another cable if you have one. Some 5G iPod where shipped with defective cables.
- It cold also be a computer problem. The iPod requires USB 2 ports.
- Does your computer have USB 2 portsd? How old is the iPod.
- Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Problems syncing my ipod touch 4th gen

I am having problems syncing my ipod touch 4th gen to itunes.  I keep getting an error message stating iTunes could not back up the iPod "name of ipod" because an error occured.  My daughter and I both use the same computer to sync our ipod's and this problem only occurs when I try to sync mine.  It works fine syncing hers and I have tried to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it.  Please help

Try placing the iPod backup file in a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new file.  It is located here:
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.

syncing new iPod Touch 4 to iTunes (already using iPod Nano)

Yes. My wife has a iPod Nano and has iTunes on our home computer (Windows Vista) and we just purchased our daughter a iPod Touch 4.
Would like to know if we can sync my wife's iTunes with daughter's new iPod Touch 4?

  • HT1386 having problems sync my ipod touch saying error (-81) does anybody know what to do

having problems sync my ipod touch to my itunes on windows xp

I have no idea. It is not listed in any App articles and a Google search did not even find a hit for the error number.
    All I can suggest is:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

  • Trouble syncing new ipod touch

I just got my new ipod touch. I started syncing it, but lost my internet connection in the middle of syncing (seems like a problem with the pc, just not sure why). The ipod seemed to stop syncing. It still said at the top of itunes that it was syncing but didn't seem to be doing anything at all. Do I have to have an internet connection to finish syncing? It loaded all my music I think, but never would do the photos or anything else. Thanks!

you dont need an internet connection to sync any of your music or photos. Sometimes my laptop freezes up because i guess syncing puts a load on the computer but it eventually finishes syncing. Im not sure why your photos didnt get synced unless you didnt check mark them to get synced or you unplugged it before it got to your photos. try re syncing your ipod. hope i helped

  • Can't Sync New IPod Touch

I have just purchased the IPod Touch. I have an 80 gig classic. I can't get the touch to sync with my ITunes library. I keep getting the message "The Ipod "Ron's Touch" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to. I have called support but to date I have not been able to get a solution to this problem. I can sync the Touch to other PC's so I know it is not a problem with the Touch. I am running an EMachine with XP Media Center Ed. Version 2002 SP2. It is an Intel Pentium D CPC 2.66 ghz. with 2 gig of RAM. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

My husband just got a new iPod touch 16 GB. He uses an HP Pavilion running Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 3) and the latest iTunes. Last night he tried updating his iPod touch (for the first time) and kept getting an error window (couldn't connect to the update server... check your network settings...). I figured it was because we were on Wi-Fi so I had him plug directly into one of the router's ethernet ports. It still didn't work. I did some googling and found a thread about re-checking the automatically detect LAN settings box in the internet options/connections. After that we were able to download and install the new software (even though it seemed to take a really long time). But anytime we checked for updates we would have to re-check the LAN settings box to get it to connect.
We tried syncing the iPod again after updating the software, but kept getting another error window (disc could not be found). We get the same error window when we try restoring the iPod touch.
Does anyone know what this means or how we can fix it? He just bought the thing and is having problems already (he is incredibly frustrated). Please help.
(I just realized how old the posts in this forum are... I may try posting elsewhere)

  • Can't sync new ipod touch to laptop itunes

I'm trying to sync songs saved in itunes on my laptop to my daughter's new ipod touch.  It just hangs on Step 2 of 6.  And it seems the itunes store won't properly load either on the laptop.  I think that's part of the problem.  So I downloaded the new itunes software but that didn't fix the problem. Please help.
    Thanks.

Probably because Apple's servers are overwhelmed on Christmas morning.

  • Two main problems with new iPod Touch

I received my new iPod Touch 32Gb last week and I've been trying and testing for some days. It's really a nice device, but I've found two big problems with it...
1.- WiFi connections are extremely unreliable. On my home router it connects and gets the right IP from DHCP but then it gets stuck and can't transfer data. Safari seems to work sometimes, YouTube and maps are almost impossible to use, and other apps works only sometimes.
I've tryed also on my office WiFi network and it's a little better. But when connection is not used for a minute it gets stucked againg. Then I need to go to settings, switch WiFi off and on again, then works again for some time.
I've spend days searching on the Internet for a solution and I've found that lots of people has the same problem. It seems iPods have serious problems connecting to some routers and blame the router about this.
My opinion is that the problem is with the iPod. My router works flawlessly with my two laptop computers, my desktop computer, my PSP, and my HTC PDA. No problems at all. So, where's the problem?
2.- There's a big problem on iTunes with sync settings. I've noticed that users can select to to transfer the data manually or synch. Then on each tab for media you have individual options. For example I can choose to sync music and photos, but not sync videos and Podcasts.
The problem is that this don't work at all. I've selected to sync music but not videos but when sync all my videos had been deleted from my iPod.
I don't see the point on placing independent sync option on iTunes if they don't work at all.

Sounds like a faulty battery to me. Might need to contact Apple about that.
As far as the volume, I'm pretty sure, as I just responded to another post, the problem is the software. Any ios version 4.0 and higher, the volume is lower than iPod Touch/iPhones with 3.1.3 and lower. My volume has been lower ever since I upgraded to 4.0 and 4.2, and I've found a lot of other people online complaining about the same thing. I've seen a couple posts where some have said Apple lowered the volume on purpose. I think we just need to complain to them and hope they release an updated ios with the volume raised back to where it was.

  • Problems syncing the iPod touch

My iPod Touch synced fine at first, but now all I get is an error message
"The iPod (xxx)cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." What am I doing wrong? I have tried resetting it, restarting it. Now tempted to 'relocate' it into the garbage .... Help!

I am having a similar problem with my iPod Touch. I have a fairly full iPod with 16Gb. capacity. I sync calendars, contacts music video and podcasts. For some reason when I include my selection of photos I get "This iPod cannot be synced. Unknown error -50."
If I leave the photos out it seems to work. Also, I have tried a restore, and now I have lost my notes ( I have the January software update)
Any ideas what is going wrong?

  • Problems syncing my iPod Touch after I updated to iOS 8.1

    Hi,
Yesterday, I tried to sync my iPod Touch with iTunes. It was taking a considerable longer time then it generally takes. Finally, it said there not enough room on my iPod, but I should have had  more than enough... I had about 5 gigs available. After I began taking music, videos etc off, I found out that the other content was taking up about 30 gigs. I ended up resetting the iPod. Now it's having problems syncing music, movies & tv.

  • Connecting and syncing new iPod Touch to iTunes v10.1

I have several downloaded albums from the iTunes Store, along with some ripped cd's, and some downloaded albums that have been imported into iTunes, along with about 100 apps. I did have many of the albums on my previous iPod Nano 8gb, but in preparation for my iPod Touch 32gb 3g, I downloaded many free iPod apps, and bought a few.
Now, I forget all the things I checked in iTunes, but know it's set now to only sync on command, not automatically. When I connect the new iPod Touch 32gb 3g, I may also need to update the iOS to 4.2 also. First, can I do the iOS update with iTunes set to manual sync? Next, what options need to be set in iTunes to a)let this happen, and b)allow me to either manually or automatically sync my new iPod?
I realize now that when I do sync the new Touch, with that many apps (over 100) it might take a minute or two.

Just what version of iTunes do you have? For a 5G iPod/iOS 7 you need iTunes 11.1 or later.. If you have a Mac yo need OSX 10.6.8 or later.
Does the iTunes still see the 4G iPod?
    If necessary:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    Or
    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Need help syncing new ipod touch to Itunes.

I recently bought a brand new Ipod touch 5th gen. I have the latest update for itunes, I want to start syncing music to my Ipod. My computer will not bring any info for this ipod touch into itunes. I had a 4th gen and I know that I seen on the right hand corner, under the search store, there should be a little icon with your Ipod below. No where is my Ipod been found. Every time I plug the USB cord into the computer, I don't see anything come on the screen. All I see is the battery charging on my Ipod. I'm getting frustrated with this Ipod not allowing me to get any music. What am I doing wrong? I also don't see any summary pane for me to reset to factory settings and start all over. how can someone help me on this? I tried turning on and off both the Ipod and computer, nothing, still the same and no Ipod is to be found on itunes.  PLEASE HELP!!

  • Problems with new ipod touch gen3

    Hi,
I just got a new ipod touch and i have problems connecting it with my WRT54GX ver 2 wirelles router. It shows that is connected but when i check the IP it has the default 169.254.202.45  one which means that the AP did not assign an IP. I tried with static IP and although in the log it shows outgoing communication from that IP the ipod does not connect to the internet.
A PC and a blackberry are working fine with this AP and the ipod has worked fine in my house (RUKOUS AP) and in two cofeeshops.
Anyone else having a similar problem?
    Thanks
    John

thanks for the suggestion but it did not work.
The iPod came up asking for the password (WEP key) and i entered it. It showed connected with the router but Safari does not work and when i check the DHCP entries in see the following
    IP: 169.254.202.45
    Sub: 255.255.0.0
This means that the connection was made but the router DHCP server did not assign an IP address to the iPod.
This exact problem i have encoutered so far in my office, a cofeeshop and a car dealership. In all cases the wirelles was based on an older linksys router and except in the case of my office the other two were unsecured networks.
I believe it has something to do with the firmware on those linksys routers causing a problem specificaly to iPods and i would guess iPhones too since they have the same OS.
I'm open to any suggestions but i've tried all the ones posted in this and other forums so far with no luck.
When i assign a static IP, the iPod again connects, the router log indicates outgoing traffic from that IP but there is no incomming traffic.

  • Error 20 when syncing new ipod touch

I am having issues when trying to sync my new ipod touch (8gb 2nd gen). I have run diagnostics and the compu is recognizing the ipod is there. When I connect ipod to computer, it starts the sync process, but when it comes to the end and last process it comes up with error -20. I have now had this ipod touch for almost 3 weeks and have yet to be able to use it after rectifying other issues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think i had this error, Basically Try deleting your old backups of your iPod, I know it makes now sense, But try it, it worked for me

  • Problem  Synchronizing New Ipod Touch

Just bought 8GB Ipod Touch, which replaces an 80GB Ipod. When synchronizing the new Ipod Touch, only about one-third of the songs synchronize, and I get an error message saying "Attempting to copy to the disk Ipod Touch failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)". Any help is appreciated.

Thank for taking the time to reply Katrina,
The files are in AAC (m4a) format and were moved with Windows Explorer. All files were moved at the same time.
The OS is Windows XP. I don't think it's a permissions problem as all the files were copied at the same time and were playable before moving. I didn't make it clear on my first post that the greyed out fields are only on the "faulty" tracks, the data is not missing or greyed out on the "good" tracks.
Folder and directory attributes are identical on the faulty and good tracks, hence my thinking that database indexing is the issue, rather than the music database itself - I may well be wrong - this is where my knowledge runs out, hence the cry for help!
Any ideas or suggestions you may have would be appreciated.
    Chris
