Problems syncing Palm to Curve

Hi,  I have searched the archives, and can't find what I need.  I have a Palm on my computer that is hot-synced.  I try to use the Media Manager to sync the Palm to the BB, but it freezes up 90% of the way through the sync process.  I thought that maybe I had too many entries, so I deleted a bunch of unnecessary files, and tried it again.  It stopped 90% of the way through again.  I don't know what else to try.  I have seen some references to Outlook, but I don't use that or even have it on my computer.  HELP.
thanks,

To know, I need to see the HotSync log and need to know if you 'configured' iSync using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… under its File menu.
DateBook is variously the name of a Palm Desktop component, a Palm conduit and the Palm OS application embedded in your organizer.

  • Problems syncing Palm Zire

    Hi,
We have a Palm m500 (mine) and a Zire (my other half's).  I downloaded appropriate software for our Mac and was under the impression that it covered both devices.  I have had no difficulties syncing my device, but tonight, when my other half tried to sync his, the computer recognized that it was him, went VERY slowly through the process of syncing and absolutely nothing showed up in his file.  It was all still in the Palm, but the Mac file was empty.  Do we need different software?  Are we just missing something in the set up?  He has no other place to sync his Zire and we could really use some help.  Any suggestions?
    Many thanks!

I dont know what happen but i cant transfer information from my USB in the laptop to the palm, i cant make the connection of hotsync. I download the software palm but when i put the botton of hotsync cant download, somebody help me please.

  • Problems syncing BB Curve 8330 with Outlook Express

Just got a new BB Curve 8330 and love the phone, but having problems syncing with Outlook Express 6.0. I am running Desktop Manager 4.5 (started with 4.7 and had same problem) and Windows XP SP3. I need to sync Addresses and Calendar. When I go to configure syncronization and select Calendar and Setup, I never see any option for Outlook Express or Outlook (only see ASCII and Yahoo). When I select Addresses and Setup, I do see and select Outlook Express. However, when I syncronize no addresses are moved across to the Curve.
Any ideas on how to get the Outlook Express options to appear on Calendar Sync or how to troubleshoot why the Address Syncronization doesn't work (i.e. is there a log file that might have errors I could look up?) If necessary, I also have Outlook 200 on this computer if I have to go that way.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

    Hi LeslielG,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
Can you please verify that the appointments being deleted during synchronization are still on your BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 smartphone? If they have been removed due to the Keep Appointments setting, the synchronization will try to remove them from Microsoft® Outlook® as well. This KB article provides more information on this. "Calendar items occurring in the past are being deleted from the calendar application on the computer" http://bbry.lv/KKQSel
    Hope this helps.

  • Hot sync Palm m500

I have a couple of old, but ever so useful, Palm m500/m505  PDAs,  which I could hot-sync with my old PC running on Windows XP.  Now I have up-graded to PC with Windows 7 Home Version - 32 bit and am at my wit's end trying to hot sync my PDA data on to my PC Palm Desktop.
As I am of the older generation, (a senior citizen), could an expert give me step-by-step instructions on how to resolve my problem.  My Palm m500 PDA has too many contacts to manually transfer.
Also can I convert PDA contacts to Outlook Address Book and then hot-sync with Palm m500 series PDA ?
Waiting anxiously for help and guidance ..........

  • Sync Palm m500 to Mac OS 10.4.3. Possible?

I've just moved from using Mac OS 10.3.9 to 10.4.3 and I'd like to sync my "old" Palm m500 to it. With the previous OS I had Conduit manager v 3.2 and I could sync with no problems whatsoever. Now I wonder if I can sync Palm m500 with Tiger. I've been checking in Palm and Apple sites but I haven't found any useful information. Reading some of your comments in the forum I realize I might have problems using the new version of isync. On top of that I know my Palm is not precisely the latest model, but it works so well I don't fancy buying a new one. Can somebody help? Thanks.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Palm recommends that for the m500 series of handheld organizers, that you install the Palm Desktop 4.2.1 version A, available here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421.html
With this handheld, you need not first install software from the CD-ROM that was supplied with your device, as it does not contain unique software for your device.
After installing the Palm Desktop, Apple recommends that you first synchronize with it prior to configuring and using iSync. Once you've done that, launch iSync and select Enable Palm OS Syncing… from the Devices menu, and follow the instructions which appear. At the conclusion of this step, your device will appear in iSync. You can then press the Palm icon in its main window to drop down a configuration pane, which lets you specify how iSync interacts with specific contact groups and calendars.
If you intend to synchronize with other devices, including .Mac, you should also open the Preferences… dialog under the iSync menu, and check or enable all three options under the General tab. Then, each time you synchronize, you should…
    • launch iSync
    • select Sync Now from beneath the Sync Status icon in your menu bar, and
    • press you HotSync button when prompted to do so by the dialog
And, when you've successfully done all this - and find youself unhappy with the manner in which iSync performs - you should consider purchasing and installing the far more flexible, robust, feature-rich and reliable synchronization software from Mark/Space: The Missing Sync for Palm OS. More information about that package is available here:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
One caution: The Missing Sync for Palm OS should be installed only after you have successfully synchronized at least once with both the Palm Desktop and with iSync.

  • Applications that sync with the Curve?

Are there any other applications available ( free or not ) to sync the memo pad, tasks and calendar OTHER THAN Microsoft Outlook?
When I tried to configure and synchronize my BB 8330 Curve so i can transfer stuff from my computer onto my memo pad or tasks it gives me two programs . Yahoo and AscII task launcher or some bs like that.
    In short, HELP!

Like others, I was trying to figure out how sync my notes on my Blackberry Curve 8310 to an online service, and OTA (over the air).
I use Google Sync for my Blackberry contacts and calendar events (which syncs with Google Contacts and Google Calendar).
Google Sync does not cover any notes or task items. These feature are sorely missing and desired by many in the Google user community.
For task list, there is Remember the Milk application, albeit with a $25 annual fee (www.rememberthemilk.com).
My best solution is to use Upvise (www.upvise.com). I set up a free personal account, then from my mobile install their mobile app.
Then, use their Notebooks feature. For the first go, I had to cut-and-past my Blackberry MemoPad notes onto my Upvise webpage. But thereafter, my Upvise Notebooks on my mobile and Upvise web account are always in synch. Nice bonus is that your Upvise Notebooks remain available to access and edit, even if you mobile service is off/out-of-range.
The Upvise Wikipedia search and display feature is impressive. The text-only interface makes for speedy retrieval, which is appreciated for non 3G contracts.
Upvise RSS Reader also has a nice, clean display and organsation of feeds. Would benefit easier method of adding new feeds, e.g. from the Upvise Google Toolbar button. I would also like some way of marking read/unread postings.
Upvise Contacts works, but has some shortcomings. First, limited field categories (only one address, one email). Second, does not sync with mobile native contact app. Without this or any support to sync with other contact managers (e.g. Google Contacts), I have little incentive to port my 3,000+ contacts over to Upvise.
But overall, considering it's free, Upvise offers a clever solution to at least one of my mobile problems (syncing of notes), and I like their OTA approach (cloud computing). I wish them well, and hope they can convince me to use their Contacts app.
Upvise are working on a Task List feature, which would then negate the need for Remember the Milk. For me, I don't keep track of completed tasks, so I just enter and delete tasks using the native Blackberry app.

  • Problem Syncing Outlook Calendar: Error code - 0x80043ac9

    Hi,
When I try to sync my Outlook 2003 calendar entries with my Curve, I get the following error:
"Error encountered. Error code - 0x80043ac9. Check documentation."
It seems to be stuck in the "Processing Device Calendar" screen, with "Record 20 of 80 Records", when the above error popped up. See screenshot below.
I have NO PROBLEM syncing Outlook Contacts or Memos. I ONLY have problem when syncing Outlook Calendar.
I've read other posts out there where there was a similar problem when syncing Contacts, and the solution is to remove Birthday contact entries:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve-BlackBerry-8900/error-code-0x80043ac9/m-p/56...
But I don't have any Birthday in my contacts, and my problem is with Calendar, not Contacts.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this, or encountered similar problems? It's probably a "bad" calendar entries in there somewhere, but I'm not sure which.
    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
    I suggest the following:
Back up the calendar database on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Clear the calendar database on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Note: For instructions on how to clear an individual database on the BlackBerry smartphone, see KB10167.

  • Problems installing PALM Desktop on XP

I recently purchased a PALM TX to replace a Tungston T.  After a few minor problems it installed on my work laptop successfully.  Then I tried to install it on my home desktop PC (XP Home) and have run into significant problems.  By following the Start Here guide I did plug in my TX before I loaded the software but the system gave me "unrecognized USB device" constantly.  I started the installation of Desktop but after a few screens (download far from complete) it defaulted to a reboot (I tried this twice).  I disconnected the TX and then restarted the installation and it went through the proper sequence.  When I got to the 'Sync device' step, I plugged in the TX and the "unrecognized USB device" came up again and when I hit the "sync" button nothing happened the it timed out.  Further, I noticed that the Hot Sync icon did not install in the lower right hand of the screen as it was supposed to.
I've uninstalled the software and tried rebooting, reinstalling and even tried installing from the downloads on the PALM page including an option to "repair" installation problems.  Nothing works.  And of course there's nothing on the PALM page about installation problems or even a way to email the problem to PALM support.
Is there any way to get this figured out?

Well, the OS is XP Home.  OK so here's the solution I guess... After trying various scenarios that didn't work, I decided just not to bother trying to get the new Palm Desktop to work with my TX.  So I disconnected the sync cable.  It was then that I noticed that I had plugged in the new sync cable in the USB port that my old cradle used.  That USB was one that came with my system which is about 4 or 5 years old (I think it's called USB 1 technology).  However, I also have a newer USB 2 card in my system so I decided to give that a try...and it worked.  The system recognized the new TX right away and everything worked fine after that.  So I guess the lesson learned here is that the newer Palm's require the newer USB technology although I didn't see that in any of the documentation.
And thanks to those that tried to help me with this problem.  It's really appreciated.

  • Centro + Exchange: There was a problem syncing messages

I followed the instructions on this page: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=116,E=0000000000145083804,K=5545,Sxi=18,Case=Obj(45113) and I'm having issues connecting. We use OWA and I can access that page from my phone and log in, but I get an error. I assume the error is just because the page is too large for the phone to load. I know the email address and password are right as I've entered them serveral times and tried multiple accounts. If I have SSL on and hit the test I get the error: Error connecting to server. Please check youre network or server settings and re-sync. If I turn SSL off I get the error: There was a problem syncing messages. If I put in what I know to be the wrong address with SSL off I get the Error connecting to server message, so I think I'm atleast getting the phone to see the server.
After some messing around, I managed to get a new error: ssl error no trusted root update ca list. After googing that, I found the PalmCertificatesTool and uploaded the certificate to the phone. Now I get the "Error connecting to server. Please check youre network or server settings and re-sync." error again with SSL enabled. With SSL off, I get: Did not let you make a connection. Please check your password and network security settings then retry.
So that tells me it's at least seeing the server, but there's some kind of issue with SSL... Any ideas?

Yeah, that certainly will make troubleshooting difficult.  If you have your own account on the server but no actual phone to work with, you can do as I did - grab the Centro simulator from Palm.  Go to the following site and register as a developer:  https://pdnet.palm.com/wps/portal/pdnet/developers
Grab the Sprint Centro simulator, install.  In the right-click menu, Settings, communications: toggle all netlib calls to host TCP/IP and you will have connectivity.
Set it up as if it were an actual handheld and you can test your email w/o needing the boss' wife's centro.
Hope this helps get things moving so we can get error codes and proceed.
If you have trouble with the simulator, you can post over here: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=support_downloads&thread.id=7566 to keep that in its own thread.

  • Smooth switch from Pylon Conduits to XTNDConnect PC, to sync Palm with Lotus Notes

I've used Pylon Conduits (software purchased from sybase.com) for years, to sync my Palm Zire 72 (Palm OS 5.0) with Lotus Notes at work.  I also used HotSync to sync the Palm with my home computer's Palm Desktop.  Essentially a 3-way calendar sync, very convenient!
There was a documented Pylon problem with recurring entries turning into duplicate entries, and there were occasions where I'd delete an entry from one calendar that didn't stay deleted after sync'ing.  However, all in all, my imperfect 3-way sync was worthwhile.  At least the entries erred on the side of caution--better too many than not enough.
Sadly, I learned, Pylon issued an "end of life" notice earlier this year.  After my office pushed down a patch that messed with Pylon, I was recently forced to find other conduit software.  EasySync was recommended to me, but I can't remember what flaw prevented my using it--maybe it wouldn't sync Lotus Notes recurring entries at all?  Can't remember.
Anyway, with low expectations, I tried XTNDConnect PC software (another sybase.com product, $60, to replace Pylon).  For what I use it for (calendar, to-do, memos), XTNDConnect PC is marvelous, better than Pylon Conduits!  Simple, yet powerful.  I guess it's pronounced "extendConnect PC," but I will ignore the cumbersome name.  Its conduits are not just for Palm and not just for Lotus Notes either, but when you tell it what you're using it for, it is so friendly as to show only your relevant options.
XTNDConnect PC handles recurring entries nicely.  And it addresses how Contacts fields differ in Palm vs. Lotus Notes:  It shows how/which fields are mapped by default, plus it allows you to customize field mapping for all Contacts fields.
One change I had to figure out was that while Pylon sync'd Palm's "Memos" with Lotus Notes email "Drafts" folder, XTND instead syncs Palm's "Memos" with a Lotus Notes "Journal" database (which I had to establish and bookmark on my work computer).  No big, once I figured out what was going on.  I got some help from XTNDConnect PC customer service--free by email, and responsive within hours.
I saw in perhaps old specs for XTND that for email, you have to install some additional software (to supplement XTND) if you're syncing a Palm using OS higher than 3.0.  However, I can't say anything more about this because I don't use the email conduit.

  • Syncing Palm and iCal

My Palm used to sync perfectly with iCal, but it's suddenly stopped. The address book syncs just fine, but I can't for the life of me get iCal syncing again. Has anyone had this happen, and is there any way to reset the whole thing so I can get it going again? Thanks!

    Thank you and apologies.
I did wonder about beginning a new thread but thought someone might yell at me for my question being too similar to others. Likely a needless concern as the posts on this site seem quite friendly.
The short answer to your copy/back up questions is no.
The last time I synced with Palm Desktop was on another hard drive. Thus, there is no back up of the information I just lost anywhere on this machine.
Terrible as this sounds, I have not been using iCal, and as previously stated just started back up with my Palm (in January). No matching info anywhere.
I've been quite naughty and had not attempted a sync until today, in part due to issues that needed sorting on the powerbook, and in part due to superstition. The last time I synced the Palm to the powerbook, the hard drive crashed. It died a painful death, somehow managing to suck all the info out of the Palm at the same time. I ended up with a blank Palm and a fried drive.
This after 2 years of no problems with Palm/Mac. The trauma drove me back to paper until this year.
Today was a new beginning of sorts, the first sync, but with info on both devices. What actually happened was this- the address book on my Mac was added to my Palm, the note pad on my Palm was added to my Mac, and the calendar and to do list on my Palm were wiped clean. Nothing actually synced, though everything was set to do so in both HotSync and iSync.
My software is current but now I am even more confused. Since posting, I've done more research on both the Apple and Palm sites. I'm finding some contradictory information regarding HotSync settings. Palm would have me change the address book, calendar, to do list, etc. from "synchronize" to "do nothing". I assume this is to allow the sync to the Mac programs vs. Palm Desktop? Quite frankly, I'm a bit afraid to try anything right now and have something else lost or over-written.
I'm usually quite competent and not such a dunce when it comes to this stuff, I'm feeling rather foolish. I know I cannot retrieve the info I lost from my Palm as I have no back up. I just had a magical hope there was a sneaky way to revert the Palm as iSync allows on the Mac. I'm just a crazy dreamer...
Unless there is a back door? Kidding.
So can you help out a very verbose girl who is having a huge DUH moment and fill me on the proper settings in both iSync and HotSync? If we could avoid any further loss of info them I'm certain we can avoid any loss of life or limb. That would be good. Thanks!
