Problems tagging pdf files

I have tried tagging a pdf file which has been sent to me but I keep getting the following error:
Acrobat was unable to make this document accessible because of the following
error:
Bad PDF; invalid loaded page. <Bad PDF; error in processing fonts: bad Type0
font>
Please note that some pages of this document may have been changed.
Because of this failure, you are advised to not save these changes.
I have tried using various different versions of Acrobat (6,7,8,9 and X) both Standard and Pro and this error comes up every time.
The only useful information I can find online regarding this error message seems to talk about XEP-generated PDFs created without being made accessible. I have contacted the company who created this pdf and they have said that the file was created using XEP but they are adamant that it is an Adobe problem and not a problem with the document.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,
In testing this with Acrobat 6 I get a slightly different error and I have been able to delete all the pages apart from the title and contents so I have put this up on Acrobat.com
https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=yQysYwrL6ea0FptfYJ5qOg
The new error says:
Acrobat was unable to make this document accessible because of the following
error:
Bad PDF; could not read page structure. <Bad PDF; error in processing fonts: bad Type0
font>
Please note that some pages of this document may have been changed.
Because of this failure, you are advised to not save these changes.

  • Cannot copy tagged pdf files to device with ActiveSync

I am using a Dell Axim X50V running Windows 2003 second edition. I have Acrobat Reader 2 for ppc installed which reads files with no problem. However, when I try to copy files to my device using Active Sync, it will only let me do so if I select the option *not* to convert them to tagged files. If the option to convert to tagged files is selected, it tells me that "There was a problem backing up your Synchronised Files folder" and "Conversion failed. The specified module could not be found." It then suggests I haven't got enough memory (which I have), or the files are read-only (which they aren't), or that I don't have permission to copy this file type.
If I try copying pdf files to my device via Active Sync without converting them to tagged files, it works without any problems, but I can't reflow.
Is there an easy way to persuade Active Sync to copy tagged pdf files to my device?

I just solved this problem on my computer. This may or may not apply to you, but let me tell you what I found.
When active-sync tries to move a PDF file to your PDA, the first thing it does is look for the tools it needs to tag that file.
To find these tools, it goes to the folder where you first installed Adobe 2.0 on your computer. In my case, I moved that folder, thinking I could conserve hard disk space. You might also have deleted that folder, thinking it was no longer needed once Adobe 2.0 was on your PDA. In my case, once I put those files back in the same place where they were installed, the functionality was restored.
I hope this helps. good luck!

Hi There:  I am having a problem where pdf files on the web (i.e., links in a Word doc) open after an extended time and only as gobbldygook ( a file containing a series of characters and letters that make no sense).  This also happens for another Mac user coworker in my office, while the PCs don't have this problem...  Any help/suggestions for a fix would be most appreciated!

Just adding more info - MacBookPro running 10.5.8 and using Safari as the browser.  The problem comes and goes - sometimes the linked Word files will open OK, n others its just a strring of crazy characters...

  • Tagged PDF files from ColdFusion.

Does anybody know about the current -- and maybe future --
    capabilities
of ColdFusion tools that generate PDF files, such as
    <cfreport...> and
<cfdcoument...> tags, to create 'tagged' PDF files?
Tagged PDF files are PDF documents that have structural
    markup
information along the lines of HTML to give accessibility
    aids, such as
screen readers, more information on what content the PDF
    document contains.
I have been looking high and low for information on how one
    may create
tagged PDF's -- or add tag markup to a created PDF -- with
    ColdFusion.
I'm getting a sinking feeling this is just beyond the
    capability of our
    beloved tool!

This is a rather old version; you may need to run it in XP compatibility mode.

  • HT5678 I have problems saving pdf files in the web when I use Safari. I don't have this problem with firefox

I have problems saving pdf files in the web when I use Safari.  I don't have this problem with firefox.

do they save ok if Safari - Preferences - Security - Allow all other plug-ins is unchecked ?
If so, likely an adobe or other pdf plugin
Re-check the setting above & quit any browsers,
Look in this folder by triple-clicking the line below, then ctrl-clicking it & choosing Services - Open
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
remove anything with pdf in the filename & test again
Sometimes, plug-ins can be in the User Library folder :
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/

  • Problem opening PDF files for Adobe Reader

Problem opening PDF files for Adobe Reader.
I installed the latest adobe reader for my Mac. Everything is set up. Every time i go to open a pdf file, this shows up...
"Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch adobe reader and accept the End User Licence Agreement, then quit and relaunch the browser."
I installed it through the adobe reader website for free. And even though it says 'by clicking "install now" you are agreeing to accept the user licence agreement terms and conditions' it still says i need to accept the T&C's.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and same thing over and over again.
    Can someone help!?!?!
Please contact me via email direct ASAP at....

    Thank you

Did you actually try doing what the message suggests?  Open Adobe Reader and accept the EULA?

I am having problems creating PDF file and downloading them

    Hi Randy Keil,
You might need to sign up with your Adobe ID and password at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/convertpdf"
Then you can choose the desired files to create the PDF.
Now, let me know what error message do you get while doing the same.
What kind of files are you trying to convert to PDF?
Have you checked with your internet connection and tried using a different browser?
    Hope to get your response.
    Regards,
    Anubha

we have a mac laptop and dont have any problems with pdf files but our imac will not open them.  any suggestions?

    Back up all data.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Problems opening .pdf files created in Windows in MAC

My clients that are using Macs are having problems opening password protected PDFs that I created in Windows. Any suggestions?

Are your clients using Adobe Reader on Mac, or the built-in Mac OS Preview?  Preview does NOT support the full PDF standard :(.

  • Problems opening pdf-files from KM of portal

    Hi,
we store documents in our portal in KM. When I use pdf-files that where not saved with Office2007 tools I get the problem, that I can open the file once. If I open it the second time I get the error message "file doesn't start with "%PDF-". and the file will not be opend. If I delete the temporary files in the internet explorer, the file can be opended, again.
If I open the file directly in the internet explorer I don't have those problems, so it seems, that the portal uses a different viewer than the internet explorer itself.
Has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?
    Regards
    Ulrike

    Ulrike,
I think this is a known issue.
    Affected versions:
o KMC SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (formerly named 2004s) SP 14
o KMC SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (formerly named 2004s) SP 15
If you have the above KMC and SP Versions then you need to follow the below SAP note:
Note 1146711 - Problem opening PDF files.
Have you checked the belowSAP Note?
Note 954627 - Issues with opening/displaying PDF files from KM
