Hi,
You should consider installing Oracle patch 4198954.
You can obtain it from Oracle Support (Metalink).

• Problem when Installing from Existing Linux with Arch's Image

Hey!
I'm just getting started with Arch Linux. I made a 20GB unallocated space between my Win7 and Ubuntu partitions, created a new ext4 partition and I'm currently following this guide ("another method" section) in order to install my first attempt of Arch Linux.
I'm on a 64-bit Ubuntu and want to install a 64-bit Arch Linux too, so I'm using the image archlinux-2011.08.19-core-x86_64.iso and in the process of following the instructions in the mentioned guide, I replaced i686 by x86_64.
The problem comes up when I try to do the chrooting, where I get:
chroot: failed to run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory
Any idea what could I be doing wrong?
Thanks!

Ok, I had just messed up when mounting the different directories. Sorry for the noise...
Anyway, found more errors when running:
aif -p interactive
about not finding /lib/modules/3.0.0-13-generic/modules.dep... what makes me think that this guide is intended to be followed when running also an Arch as the Existing Linux.
I think I'll just go with the flash drive option...
Cheers!

• Problem in installing Agent10 on Linux box

Hi,
I have tryed to install Agent10g on a linux box abd tryed to connect it to the OMS running on Windows XP. I choose the installation option agentDeploy option by running agentDownload.linux it worked fine by downloading all the files and used the silent installation option to install the Agent by running the command
/u02/downloads/agentDownload10.2.0.2.0Oui/Disk1/runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs -waitforcompletion -force -responseFile /u02/downloads/agentDownload10.2.0.2.0Oui/agent_download.rsp -silent b_doDiscovery=TRUE b_startAgent=TRUE -sourceLoc http://ayz.xyz.com:4889/agent_download/10.2.0.2.0/linux/agent/stage/products.xml FROM_LOCATION=http://ayz.xyz.com:4889/agent_download/10.2.0.2.0/linux/agent/stage/products.xml -baseDir /u01/app/oracle/product/ CLUSTER_NODES={}
the above command executed fine and asked me to run root.sh file as "root" I did that and installation was successful, but I could not find anything in /uo1/app/oracle/product/ folder as I supposed to see instead i see a new OracleHomes folder in /scratch/OracleHomes/agent10g. I could not find any reason for this is there anything worng with my installation and if the installation was fine how can start the agent on Linux.
PLease let me know if am missing anything.
thanks,
Ashok chava.

export ORACLE_HOME=/scratch/OracleHomes/agent10g

• PROBLEMS WHEN INSTALLING ORACLE9i

When installing Oracle 9i release 2 on HP-UX the installation goes on well. But when I reach 84% of the linking process, I get the error:
“Error in invoking target of the install makefile
$ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/bin/ins_sqlplus.mk”
The same error occurs with the makefile “ins_rdbms.mk”
I ignored both errors.
Later when running the Net configuration assistant, it hanged with error:
“Error in loading native library lbnjni9.so”I aborted the net configuration process then when the database configuration assistant started, it hanged with the same error as the net configuration assistant.
I looked for the library “lbnjni9.so” but didn’t find it at all and solutions from other sources indicate that the initial errors may be due to insufficient swap space, I have 800MB of swap space.
EDWIN

I had some similar problem with some of the make files, but not exactly the one's you are having trouble with. Anyway, try this article posted in OTN. http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tutorials/idclinux/Oracle9iR2onredhat9.html
I was able to follow most of it and get past the make file issues.
Note: when you get to step 5:
"$ gcc -o ctxhx -L/opt/ora9/product/9.2/ctx/lib/ ...."
You'd be better off replacing all the instance of "/opt/ora9/product/9.2" with "$ORACLE_HOME", assuming that you have already defined your $ORACLE_HOME environment variable.
Now I need to find help on the Database Create Assistant problem I'm having.
Good luck!

• Error ORA-03113 while install Oracle9i r2 on redhat Advance serer

Hello All:
Can anyone inform me how to correct the error ORA-03113 when I install oracle 9i on RedHat Advance Server 2.1
This error has something to do with setting my CLASSPATH I think.
Thank YOU
Ezra Taylor

Hi,
You don't mention where exactly you were receiving this error but I was receiving this error when doing the database creation via DBCA. I was able to get around this by altering the 'shmmax' parameter. I suspect that the classpath is not the issue in this case, infact I think it should be unset (as well as other things such as JAVA_HOME).
I initially tried the 100Mb specified at this site: http://www.e-gineer.com/instructions/install-oracle9i-on-linux.phtml
However this wasn't enough so I went for the 'loony' option and set it to its maximum value using sysctl as root (see below):
sysctl -w kernel.shmmax=4294967295
Obviously you probably don't want to leave it at this size and will want to find the appropriate value. (Oracle reccomends half of physical memory - I haven't tried this yet).
HTH,
Gareth.

• Error on Install Oracle9i R2 on RedHat Linux 7.3

When I have installed Oracle9i R2 on RedHat Linux 7.3,I reboot the machine,
and then write this:
sqlplus
SQL> sys /change_on_install as sysdba
SQL>Connect to Iddle
SQL>startup
SQL>sltln:environment variable cannot be evaluated
What`s the matter?
thanks

Looks like some file that's present in tmp or
/var/tmp during deployment cannot be overwritten
because of permissions issue. Please make
sure you don't have previous installation temp files
in /var/tmp or /tmp before doing new installation or
use the same use that installed the first instance.
You can try cleaning up tmp and /var/tmp and retry.
Also try setting umask 00 before installations.

I met problem when installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Turbo Linux 7.0.
After setting up environment variables, and successfully

The process of installation blocked at 80% in "Database Creation

I have tried two times and got the same result.
The error message is:
Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-Kochi Gothic-medium-r-normal-

Help!

I have done some oracle installations over RedHat 7.0 (not certificated):
Let's check some things:
1- You must have changed very few parameters on your shm.h sem.h files which are in /usr/include/linux directory.
2- You need to upgrade the glibc and libstdc libraries (.rpm)
3- You must have installed the jre116_v5 on /usr/jre and made a symbolic link like this
ln -s /usr/jre/jre116_v5 /usr/local/jre
4- You must include in the CLASSPATH parameter the jre116_v5 directory. It should look something like this
CLASSPATH=/usr/jre/jre116_v5:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib
5- Be sure to create and export all the parameters in your .bash_profile.
6- Run the ./runInstaller.sh in a terminal window inside the Xwindow.
You can find the jre116_v5 in www.backdown.org
I hope these tips help you

I had the same problem. In my case, it was because of downloading an version of the software. You can check this by running the command:
