  • Wht is the difference between unicode program and non unicode program ?

    Hi guru,
wht is the difference between unicode program and non unicode program ?
    Regards
    Subash

    About brief idea about unicode
In the past, SAP developers used various codes to encode characters of different alphabets, for example, ASCII, EBCDI, or double-byte code pages.
ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) encodes each character using 1 byte = 8 bit. This makes it possible to represent a maximum of 28 = 256 characters to which the combinations 00000000, 11111111 are assigned. Common code pages are, for example, ISO88591 for West European or ISO88595 for Cyrillic fonts.
EBCDI (Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange) also uses 1 byte to encode each character, which again makes it possible to represent 256 characters. EBCDIC 0697/0500 is an old IBM format that is used on AS/400 machines for West European fonts, for example.
Double-byte code pages require 1 or 2 bytes for each character. This allows you to form 216 = 65536 combinations where usually only 10,000 - 15,000 characters are used. Double-byte code pages are, for example, SJIS for Japanese and BIG5 for traditional Chinese.
Using these character sets, you can account for each language relevant to the SAP System. However, problems occur if you want to merge texts from different incompatible character sets in a central system. Equally, exchanging data between systems with incompatible character sets can result in unprecedented situations.
One solution to this problem is to use a code comprising all characters used on earth. This code is called Unicode (ISO/IEC 10646) and consists of at least 16 bit = 2 bytes, alternatively of 32 bit = 4 bytes per character. Although the conversion effort for the R/3 kernel and applications is considerable, the migration to Unicode provides great benefits in the long run:
The Internet and consequently also mySAP.com are entirely based on Unicode, which thus is a basic requirement for international competitiveness.
Unicode allows all R/3 users to install a central R/3 System that covers all business processes worldwide.
Companies using different distributed systems frequently want to aggregate their worldwide corporate data. Without Unicode, they would be able to do this only to a limited degree.
With Unicode, you can use multiple languages simultaneously at a single frontend computer.
Unicode is required for cross-application data exchange without loss of data due to incompatible character sets. One way to present documents in the World Wide Web (www) is XML, for example.
ABAP programs must be modified wherever an explicit or implicit assumption is made with regard to the internal length of a character. As a result, a new level of abstraction is reached which makes it possible to run one and the same program both in conventional and in Unicode systems. In addition, if new characters are added to the Unicode character set, SAP can decide whether to represent these characters internally using 2 or 4 bytes.
A Unicode-enabled ABAP program (UP) is a program in which all Unicode checks are effective. Such a program returns the same results in a non-Unicode system (NUS) as in a Unicode system (US). In order to perform the relevant syntax checks, you must activate the Unicode flag in the screens of the program and class attributes.
In a US, you can only execute programs for which the Unicode flag is set. In future, the Unicode flag must be set for all SAP programs to enable them to run on a US. If the Unicode flag is set for a program, the syntax is checked and the program executed according to the rules described in this document, regardless of whether the system is a US or an NUS. From now on, the Unicode flag must be set for all new programs and classes that are created.
If the Unicode flag is not set, a program can only be executed in an NUS. The syntactical and semantic changes described below do not apply to such programs. However, you can use all language extensions that have been introduced in the process of the conversion to Unicode.
As a result of the modifications and restrictions associated with the Unicode flag, programs are executed in both Unicode and non-Unicode systems with the same semantics to a large degree. In rare cases, however, differences may occur. Programs that are designed to run on both systems therefore need to be tested on both platforms.

  • Problem in Importing RFC from ECQ to XIQ

    Hi.....
I have a problem in importing the RFC from ECC Quality Server to PI Quality Server.......
When I fill the fields like
    Application Server......
    System Number.....
    UserName
    Password.....
I am getting a screen Problem.....in which error information is given....
One of the error is UserName(XXXX) cannot have access to aii.sap......
    Please help me.....
    Thanks,

    Hi Sudheer,
Kindly check the user having all authorizations which you are try to importing the RFC's from ECQ to XIQ, check with your basis team and try to provide the required authorizations for that particular user.
Then you can able to import RFC's and do the design by activating the objects.

  • Problems with sender RFC from R/3 4.6D

    Hi all,
I have configured a sender RFC channel on XI cluster. Immediately after channel activation everything looks fine on backend system (R/3 4.6D):
But after some time (e.g. one hour) the connection somehow stops working.
The u201CTest connectionu201D says u201CProgram ID not registered u2026 u201D and also XI hosts is not listed  in u201Clogged on clientsu201D any more.
By restarting the Sender RFC from Communication channel monitor the communication is reestablished. But after an hour it breaks down again.
The strange thing is that this problem occurs only when RFC sender channel is configured on XI cluster with two nodes (our production XI on MSCA). If the same is configured on a stand alone XI (which is our development system) the connection is working fine all the time.
Also the problem happens only when connecting XI cluster with R/3 4.6 D system. When the same connection is established with ERP 5.0 or ECC 6.0 it is working fine.
Setting the property initalRfcClientConnextCheck to false didnu2019t help.
    Thanks for helping.
    Janos

transaction SMGW(gateway monitor) and choose menu option 'Goto --> Logged on clients'.
make sure that the there is an entry in the program id is same as program id in the RFC sender channel...if not try making a change in the RCF channel and activating again

  • Unicode vs. Non-Unicode with MI

    Hi all,
We are looking at doing an installation of MI. We are currently Non-Unicode on our ERP system, although a Unicode conversion project is not too far away.
According to the document: "How To Design a SAP NetWeaver Based System Landscape" (NW 7.0, ver 1, March 2008) on pg 15, it says:
"It is required that an MI system with AS ABAP has the same Unicode type as the MI back-end system: If your MI back-end system is a Unicode system, also install a Unicode MI system (that is, both AS ABAP and AS Java on Unicode); if your MI back-end system is non-Unicode, install an MI system with non-Unicode AS ABAP (that is, AS Java on Unicode and AS ABAP on non-Unicode).
    Recommendation
For new installations, it is recommended to install a Unicode based system for all SAP applications and SAP NetWeaver deployments that require an AS ABAP usage type based system (AS JAVA is only available in Unicode). In future all new installations from SAP will be Unicode only."
This is clearly conflicting...We are an English-only shop, we have a Unicode conversion imminent, and SAP's direction is clearly Unicode.
Should we even consider a Non-Unicode install?
    Thanks,
    Troy

    Hi,
install a unicode middleware system for the following reasons:
    - Soon the BE will be unicode enabled.
    - The MI client is anyway unicode enabled, this means the end users can enter unicode characters anyway. After Unicode conversion of the backend your MI server would be the only non unicode component.
    - having the mw as unicode does not harm, even if the BE is non unicode (apart from the bigger DB size due to the code page)

  • Unicode ERP and non-unicode Dealer Business Management 5.00(DBM)

    Hi All,
We are going to adapt SAP Dealer Business Management 5.00(DBM)industry-specific solution to our local(serbian)language. For this we need following install steps:
    1.ERP ECC 5.0
    2.DIMP ECC 5.0
    3.DBM 5.0
Is it possible to proceeds on sach way because we have Unicode ERP ECC 5.0, but on other hand DBM 5.0 is non-unicod?
In case it is possible, please give me some ideas on it.
    Thanks in advance
    Predrag

    Hi Predrag,
How is DBM installed?  In the same system as an add-on or a separate system?  If it's an add-on, then they would have to have the same codepage.  If it's in a separate system, then there are some possible data loss "issues" when the sending system is Unicode and the receiving system is non-Unicode.  If the sending system sends a character that is not on the recieving system's codepage, the data is "garbage".  There are no such problems with Unicode->Unicode and non-Unicode->Unicode communication.

  • Unicode installation versus none Unicode

    Hello every one:
My system is 4.7 retention 200 nonunicode system. Finally my installation CD's have arrived and I was hopeful I have everything in place. However, As I am starting the upgrade (Prepare phase) it is complaining that my system is not unicode system and prepare shuts down.
I thought I have option for upgrading the system to ECC6 without moving to Unicode. Sure thing when I checked the Master upgrade DVD all the files inside is unicode. Is this mean I have to upgrade to unicode system for ECC6?
Also, I am checking the software download depot, I do not see any upgrade package for none unicode system. Can some one shed some light on this issue?
    Regards,
    KG

Thanks every one for the reply. However, I am not sure if that is freezable in our environment since English is the only language we will be using. Also I found a Q&A regarding Unicode versus none unicode. In this note basically it is saying none unicode version of ERP2005 will be supported.
Can you please answer this question, I have 2 sets of installation CD's, One is netweaver 2004S and the other ERP2005. This is confusing me as which upgrade CD's I should be using?
The only media list I am finding is for netweaver2004S. I undrestand ERP2005 technology is based on  netweaver2004, but why 2 sets of different installation DVD's?
I want to upgrade from 4.7 extention 200 to ECC6, which installation CD's and installation Guides do I use?

  • Distributing customizing(control) data from SAP ECC to a non SAP System

    Dear Experts,
I am currently working on an interface for distribution of different data to a non SAP System. One of these is customizing data (Company code, purchasing org. plant etc). The system expects a file and we shall implemet the following scenario: IDOC>XI>File
    Questions:
    1. Is it possible to use CONDAT Idoc to transfer customizing data to a non SAP System or is this only used for synchronisation of data between SAP Systems?
2.In case CONDAT cannot be used would you recommend creating a custom table, message type etc. for this case?
    Please advise.
    Thank you so much

    Hi Narasimha,
We can do this with the help of PI. Please find the below link.

  • Non Unicode R3 to non Unicode BI

    Hi,
We have a Non Unicode R3 system. My question is, should I install a non Unicode BI system or a Unicode BI system while installing NW2004s. We only have English language. What is SAP recommended. What are the pros and cons of installing unicode or non-unicode BI when we have a non-unicode R3 system.
    Thanks

Go for Unicode BI if you just have one langauge. Sooner or later, R/3 wull be upgradedd by the client, which would be unicode compatible then!

  • How to convert Unicode characters to Non-unicode

    Hi! Gurus,
How can I convert a unicode character into a non-unicode character?
We have an ABAP program in 4.5B that writes a file with a 15 character fixed length that is passed to another application.  When upgraded into mySAP we encountered issue on the length of the the strings when japanese or chinese character are included in the string, it exceeded the 15 character length.

    Hi,
    Try this link

  • Problem when transporting form from DEV system to PRODUCTION system

    Hi Experts,
We are developing forms in ABAP, for example there is a form developed in dev system and this form has JS coding in some UI elements events like initialize, on change and on exit; also has one script object defined as variable. this script object has some functions defined in order to do some common validations and field specific ones too.
The form in DEV work fine, all the functions calling, all the validations and the events are working properly as expected. But there is a problem when we moved the changes done in development system into production system. Specifically the script object has the problem: even though the coding is the same in both systems, in production system we had an script error: "Body.CATALOGPARAMS has no properties", as if the Body.CATALOGPARAMS was never instanciated, or it is not defined...
The code that produces this error is the following:
    var itemCount = 0;
    itemCount = Body.CATALOGPARAMS.DATA.instanceManager.count;
CATALOGPARAMS is table defined as context table coming from an ABAP FM where is filled and passed into the form.
In order to fix this problem I changed that part for the following
    var itemCount = 0;
    var catalogTable = null;
    catalogTable = xfa.resolveNode("Body.CATALOGPARAMS.DATA");
    itemCount = catalogTable.instanceManager.count;
This still works as fine as the other in DEV system. But my question is: will I have the same problem when we transport the changes to production system, you have to know that a transport is not something that you can do every day, so I am taking precautions before the transport. Which of both coding is the best for doing this?
Any observations, comments, questions in order to clarify some points are welcome, so please do it.
    In advance, thanks a lot.
    Mauricio.-

As always, you are the first one to reply... thanks for that!
before everything, I activated the form, then I added this form to a new transport using se80 transaction: I navigated through the form objects and I added the form to a new transport by second click on the form -> other functions -> write transport entry. is this the correct way to assign a transport package with the entire form (including script objects, layouts, and all you told in the last reply)??
Can you give me a guide on how-to add the specific parts to the same transport for forms?
    as always, thanks in advance.
    Mauricio.-

  • Problem while transporting query from development  to quality

    Hi ,
At the time of collecting objects, we are getting an error.
Object '48NYONN6RPXN7Q9YDS6DWSM35' (ROUT) of type 'Routine' is not available in version 'A'
(Infact similar error statements round 16 are displayed).
I don't see any object as such.
i don't understand what the problem is? pls help.
    Rgds,
    Raghu

    Hi
Go to table RSZCOMPDIR and enter this in the comp id
    48NYONN6RPXN7Q9YDS6DWSM35
it will give you the technical name of the variable or the report .
if it is variable transport the variable first and then transport the report.
    This will solve your problem.

  • Problem in importinf RFC from SAP in JCAPS

    HI,
I am getting an error when i am Deploying my project in JCAPS. The error is
    Cannot access property: rFC_IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS.IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUSReceiveResponse.bytesToMarshal; java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
Also when I import an RFC (IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS) then I get different different sub items everytime i download it.
Are the two problems related to each other?
If any one has any suggestions plese advise.
    Regds
    Abhishek

I see two problem with the code:
    - You don't set a Connection nor ConnectionString to your new proxy "objProxy". This is likely the reason for the exception.
    - It seems that you want to have two rows in your "YfS_EMP_CLAIMTable1". Note that you need to create two instances of the struct you want to add. Reusing the variable "Claim_struct" will have pointers in YfS_EMP_CLAIMTable1 pointing to exactly the same structure instance. This is not likely what you want.
    After the first
    YfS_EMP_CLAIMTable1.Add(Claim_struct)
    add a line
    Claim_struct = New SAPProxy1.YFS_EMP_CLAIM()

  • Problem in transporting dc from development to test

    Hello Everybody,
I have released nine activities for Java dictionary tables dc seperately.
Then i have clubed rest of the Java dictionary dc activities into single request and then released.
In consolidation tab of CMS of transport studio, I selected all these release activities and imported into assembly tab. But, it failed showing that Assembly failed.
I went to the log and it was saying that DC is broken.
it means Dc cannot build by CBS properly.
What should be the reason behind this?
Application is working perfectly on Development environment.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bhavik

    Hi Helmut,
Yes I expalin you what happened actually.
We have imported those three SCAs in developement and then in consolidation system too. But, at that time we have checked the checkbox "Desable automatic deployment" in runtime systems tab for consolidation system. So, It didn't deployed automatically on consolidation system.
But, now we have changed it and unchecked the check box. Now, we have imported those three SCAs once again in development. They were successfully imported in developement system. But they are not showing in consolidation system as "waiting for Queue".
So, how can I import those in consolidation system?
I have tried importing those SCAs 3 to 4 times. But, same thing happens each time. It doesn't show those SCAs in consolidation as Waiting for import.
And because of this reason, our DC is failed in assembly.
So, how can we import those SCAs in consolidation system?
    Thanks,
    Bhavik
