Problems transferring audio books to ipod

I've just purchased an audio book on the itunes store. It's downloaded to my itunes library but I can't transfer it to my ipod. I've authorised my computer with the same ID that I used to purchase the book. Any ideas? Thanks heaps

Did you go to the Music ap on the iPid and then tap More in the lower right,. They should be there.
Does other media like soogs sync to the iPod?

Mostly because you are not using any capital letters or paragraph returns and your post is difficult to read.

  • What do I do to download an audio book to ipod nano

What do I do to download an audio book to ipod nano?

If you are currently using automatic syncing for the other media types, such as songs, you need to go to iPod's Books tab.
First, if you are using the latest version of iTunes, it may hide the sidebar.  To show the sidebar, go up to the menu bar, and under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, there is a row of "tabs" that starts with Summary.  One of those tabs is Books (if you currently have audiobooks in your iTunes library).  On the Books tab, set it to Sync Audiobooks, and choose to sync All audiobooks or Selected audiobooks.  If you choose the latter, checkmark the audiobooks you want to sync below.  Apply the change.
If you use the manual method (not automatic syncing) to load songs, by dragging songs from the iTunes library to the iPod in the sidebar, you can do the same with audiobooks.  Find them under Books in the iTunes library, and drag the ones you want to the iPod in the sidebar.

  • Problems with audio book

I have purchased "God is Not Great" Audio Book by Peter Hitchens. This is a 4 part audiobook - each part being approx 2 hourss long. It plays fine on the computer but doesn't work at all on my iPod nano. It transfers from the computer to the nano with no problem but when I play it on the nano the screen just cycles repeatedly through the four parts in quick succession and no sound comes out.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, after a couple of hours scouring the net and pulling my hair out, I now have to confess that I have solved my own problem - an embarrassingly easy solution as it turns out!
I have now gone to 'settings' on my iPod and found that audiobooks was unchecked for the menu options.  I simply checked it again and 'hey presto' - suddenly I can find my audiobook on the iPod.

  • Audio Books and ipods

    Hello All
Recently my wife has lost some vision in her eyes and can no longer find it easy to read books. My idea is to buy an ipod (no idea which) and download the cd audio book onto the ipod so she can listen.
    Q. Will whole cd audio books fit on an ipod ???????
Hope you can help me choose which model I need because I have no idea at all.
    Thanks

Depending on the format and size of the book it should have no problems fitting on any of the iPods.
A lot of my audiobooks are less than 1 gb and are in apple m4b protected format.
I suggest you let her look at the screens of some of the available iPods and see which she is more comfortable with.
The nano screen is small but not hard to read and it will hold a few books depending on the size you get.
A shuffle works good because it is so simple. Problem is some of the books may need to be broken in two which is usual in a lot of cases any way. I normally load one book on it and that makes it very easy to use. You just have to add books when she finishes them.
One thing to remember is to join files when you import the cds into iTunes. I forgot to on Harry Potter and ended up with a jillion 1 minute tracks.

  • When adding audio books to ipod either manually or by syncing, the tracks seem to be in the right order but they play back in a random order which means you can't listen to the book. How do you overcome this? (Bill)

I have tried adding audio books to my ipod classic, both by syncing and manually. The tracks come up in the right order in the menu but when listening they will often play (not always) in a random order. How do I overcome this, as it is making listening to books impossible.  (Tarraganda)

I have found the problem myself when I got into the Settings. Somehow it had been put onto shuffle all music files and once I turned that off it reverted to normal. I realised something basic was wrong when our other ipod that had been synced at the same time didn't have a problem. However, I had put all the books on manually, one album at a time as problems occurred when syncing the whole library, including multiple albums for the same piece of music.

  • Audio Books on iPod Shuffle 4Gen

Having just purchased my lovely new iPod shuffle, I wanted to load it immediately with some of my books (i use the shuffle exclusively for audio's) I loved the fact that the new shuffle distinguishes between books and music and has different categories for it, however, this is exactly my problem, when adding books, they will show up as added in iTunes, but when using the shuffle, it acts as if it is only loaded with ONE book, it will not play the others, although they show up when the shuffle is connected to iTunes.
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
I have done pretty much all I can think of, but nothing works, the whole point is to have more than one book on it, so, at the moment its pretty useless to me, especially since I do not want to re-categorize all my books into music and then have to wade through the whole mixed booksandmusic mess.
I do hope somebody here has a clever solution to this problem!
Fingers crossed that I might have just overlooked some tick box or some such thing.
    K.

People are having the same problem in another thread: "Only plays 1 (ONE) Podcast - No matter what I do" http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2649381&tstart=0
And that includes me! Even if you put multiple podcasts or audiobook files onto a playlist or smart playlist and then put it on your iPod shuffle, only one of them will play. To get the next one on the list to play you have to use Voice Over to scroll forward and then click play, which is ridiculous.
My only advice is to get podcasts and audiobooks directly from websites, if possible, i.e., not as a podcast subscription through itunes. That way, your shuffle will not treat the files as podcasts and you'll avoid the hassle of trying to get them to play in order as a simple playlist.
Obviously something is wrong with the way podcasts are implemented in 4th gen shuffle. Hope this gets fixed soon.

  • Add an audio book to ipod

I have purchased some audio books.  I can play the discs that play the book in iTunes.  Can I then transfer them to an ipod?  I have never had an ipod and am quite computer illiterate.

    Yes, you can.
Presumably, the tracks (for this book) are currently in the Music section of your iTunes Library. Select all the tracks on this audiobook and click on Menu icon at the top left of the window and select Get Info/Options>Media Kind or, if you have the Menu bar displayed, select File/Get Info/Options>Media Kind and change it to to Audiobook.
The tracks will now move into the Books section of the Library, so if you don't already have Books displayed (as in the first screenshot above), click on the Menu icon and choose Preferences (or Edit/Preferences) and on the General/Sources tab, turn on Books.
Your tracks should be under Books. Check each track to make sure the "track number of total tracks" information is included. If it isn't, type it in yourself. This will help keep the tracks in the correct order when being played on an iPod.
Now use your usual method of transferring media to your iPod (by far the best way is to use Sync). With your iPod connected to iTunes, look on the Device/Audiobooks pane and make sure Sync Audiobooks is on. (Ignore the fact that my screenshot shows 0 Audiobooks)
You may need to do one more Sync for the above setting change to take effect.
Finally, on your iPod Classic (which, since you have posted in the iPod Classic forum, I assume you are using), you may need to go into the Settings menu and turn on (put a tick) Audiobooks so that Audiobooks is listed in either the Main or Music menus (according to your choices).
    That's it.

  • Transfering audio books from MacBook to iPhone 5s

I just asked how to transfer audio books from my MacBook to iPhone5s and had a reply that it should work like it did with my iPod touch. Well it doesn't. I tried moving audio books into my iTine Library (which I never did with iPod). I started to synch individual books but stopped as it is confusing to me what gets saved and what gets erased. I've tried dragging several ways. Help!

Well, maybe it should but it won't work. I drag the file over to the iPhone and nothing happens. I thought maybe because the audio books weren't in iTunes, so I moved them to the library on my macbook and still nothing happens.

Your best bet would be to contact OverDrive to see what they allow for conversion. Looking at their website, they state they provide products which are compatible with itunes.

  • Transfering Audio Books from my iMac to my INACTIVE iPhone.

How do I transfer Audio Books from my iMac to my INACTIVE iPhone?

The same way you would to any ipod/iphone.
Select whatever you would like to sync, then sync it.
FYI: Leave the SIM card in your iphone that was in it when it was active. Without it you will not be able to restore or upgrade.

  • Itunes shuts down when transferring audio books to Library

I have downloaded several audio books. There are now in my download folder. When I attempt to transfer one of them to my Library I get a Windows error message that says itunes must shut down. This is a fairly new problem. In fact one of the Audio books I am trying to transfer is part two and I sucessfully downlaoded the first part a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for your help.

Friends:  Here's the answer to at least my problem of having iTunes crash most of the way through Step 3 of the iTunes Match process:  There were Voice Memo files mixed in with the music files.  Although both are listed as *.m4a files, the match system hiccupped when encountering them.
Solution:  Use the "Info" button to find out where the possibly offending files are located.  Go to that location and move them someplace else.
Once the offending files are gone the entire process works like a charm.
Now why couldn't Apple have told us that little "secret" instead of having us *customers* thrashing around in the dark?
Hopefully this will help someone else out there.

  • When listening to an audio book the ipod nano (6th generation) keeps turning off?

Help!  I just purchased an ipod nano (6th generation) for the sole purpose of listening to audio books.  When I start a book about 20 seconds into it the screen goes dark and  the ipod stops...then I have to turn the on/off switch on to begin the book again.  I'm sure it has something to do with the settings, but I cannot locate the information I need in the ipod manual.  Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I saw your other post, but thought I would reply here as well. It is all about getting that headset seated all the way. If you can see any silver of the plug, it is not in far enough. Push harder. If it just won't go in, look in there to see if it is blocked. The bottom of the headset port is white, so if it appears all dark at the bottom... something is in there.

  • Problems playing Audio Books

I have purchased and downloaded 2 audio books from iTunes, when I try to play them back I select 'Audio Books' on the iPod and then get a message saying "No Audio Inputs" and I cannot access the audio books. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I have so many audiobooks I can't utilize the Audiobooks option under Music tab for the iTouch. In order to transfer an audiobook I want to listen to I create a playlist containing the book of interest and transfer by checking the corresponding playlist.
