Problems transferring my purchases from iPad2 to new computer.

Hi there
I recently purchased a new Mac after my macbook blew up. I'm now trying to update my ipad and transfer my purchases. My appleID says I have only one computer authorised, when I go through the steps to authorise my new computer it keeps saying I have five computers authorised when clearly it doesn't. So I can't transfer my purcchases before upgrading my ipad...
Any idea?

  • Transferring Purchases from iPod to New Computer

I have recently gotten a new laptop and I am having problems transferring my purchases from my iPod to the laptop. I have authorized the new computer and have followed the instructions given by Apple on how to transfer (Transfer Purchases from "__" with the iPod connected). However, it only "transfers" a few of the songs and I still can't play them. When I try to play any of the songs, it says that it can't locate the original file.
Before connecting my iPod, I had transferred all of my music to my computer via an external hard drive. I have also tried moving the music files to the iTunes Media/Music folder as well as adding the original file from my hard drive to the iTunes library.

    There is authorization and "authorization"
I did a similar move. I replaced my Itunes server with a new build. I successfully saved off the old Itunes folder to my Network Attached Storage box and later copied that archive from the NAS into My Music on the new Itunes server.
The Itunes folder contained different types of data.
For CDs I loaded DIRECTLY into Itunes, the data includes authorization to play the data - because Itunes verified that it was an origional CD that was played directly into Itunes.
In a similar manner, if you have Itunes data that was purchased and downloaded from the Itunes Store, then you need to "Authorize" the computer with Itunes in order to play that Itunes Store procured data. This is the "you have done 3 of 5" authorization.
Finally, for CDs that I loaded into my old server via Windows Media Player, when I did a consolidate in Itunes, it went out and found the WMP data on a disk I dedicated to WMP music files, and since it was authorized in WMP, Itunes would play it. When I went to the new server, Itunes had the Itunes version of the songs in its library, but would NOT play the songs that had been migrated into Itunes from WMP until I actually connected the hard drive with the WMP files on it so Itunes could satisfy itself that it has "autorized" copies of the music. As soon as I connected the Windows Media Player data drive, Itunes did a compare and updated the Itunes versions of the songs imported from WMP to authrized and plays them just fine.
The alternative is to reload from the origional media.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transferring pictures from ipad2 to new computer!

I have a iPad2 that I have had since August. I recently lost everything on my pc cause my hard drive got fried. I have a lot of pictures on my iPad that I lost on my hard drive and I want to transfer them back onto my new pc. When I plug iPad into compuer it asks right away about opening my pics and videos in windows media player but the only ones that transfer are the pics I took with the iPad (photo booth) and ones I put on iPad from a camera connection kit. None of the pics that I transferred from my old pc will transfer from iPad to new pc. Please any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to back up everything on my iPad cause the back facing camera doesnt work and looks like I will be needing a new one! I really need to save those pictures that don't seem to want to transfer! Thanks for your help!

I have never used this but it is suppose to be pretty good stuff according to what I have read here from other users.

  • Transferring old music from Nano to new computer

I have a first generation iPod nano that I thought had been lost in a move 3 years ago. Last year my harddrive was destroyed and I lost all of my music. Just now I found my old nano in a box of books we had never unpacked. I plugged it in and sure enough, it has a lot of my old music on it. However, I'm now on a new computer and this iPod won't let me transfer the music from it to my new computer. This is the only backup of this music that I have. I've enabled disc use but still can't figure out how to get the MP3s off the iPod. Is it possible?

Once I have purchased the app to download the contents of my Nano onto my new computer, how do I authorize the computer to accept previously purchased songs from itunes?

  • Transferring purchases from iPod to new computer / Authorization

I recently purchased a new Dell laptop and downloaded and installed iTunes. I've authorized the laptop, so now i've used 3 out of my 5 authorizations (old PC, work computer, and new laptop). I bought 2 albums off of iTunes at work and was able to transfer them to my new laptop with no problems. When I try to transfer the other 15 albums I bought on my old PC, however, it says my laptop is not authorized to play them. It's obviously authorized since I was able to transfer SOME of my purchased music, so why is it saying it's not authorized?? When I called Apple support the other day at 5:50, the guy put me on hold for five minutes and then just hung up so that when I tried to call back it was after 6:00 and they were closed! Nice customer service, Apple.

  • Download previous purchases from itunes to new computer

how do i download previously purchased audiobooks from itunes to a new apple computer

If you don't have a backup, it's probably cheaper to buy them again. Recovering data from a failed drive may cost hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Alternatively, the iTunes Store staff may allow you a free redownload if asked, but will only do this once per person.

  • Transfer files from Ipod to new Computer

Old computer was windows XP, new computer is Windows Vista. Get transfer, but it is gibberish of some sort. I don't know what generation ipod. It is a video ipod with wheel and 30GB. It does say version 1.3 for itunes and model MA446LL. Any help?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • I am on a shared computer with several profiles.  I had to delete my profile and create a new one.  Now, my question.  It transferred to Purchased Items to the new iTunes, so how do I get the rest of the songs to transfer to new iTunes?

It sounds like you might have broken links to your content. Either repair these by putting the files you've recovered where iTunes expects to find them or delete the broken entries then go to iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on This Computer, and click the download links.

  • I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes shows album as purchased but album is not in my Mac library.

I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes store shows album as purchased but album does not show up in my Mac library. How can I retrieve the album.

So i've found the answer to this by clicking on every menu and setting in the itunes store. It turns out some purchases in the cloud can be hidden probably as the result of an interrupted transfer/sync/backup or a network outage. To unhide purchases 'greyed out ' items , go to the Itunes store (on the PC) click on your account name and select view account. (you'll be prompted for your itunes password) once you are in scroll down to the purchase history section. there should be an option for hidden purchases. click through and click on unhide purchases, redownloadble purchases. any hidden purchases will then show up. click on unhide to reactivate and download. This may only work for purchases in the cloud.
    hope others find this useful.
