Problems Uninstalling Sierra Wireless Software (LAUNCHD errors)

Hello.
I'm trying to find the root cause of the following from Launchd in my console logs:
9/1/10 10:29:30 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.sierrawireless.SierraSWoCMon[1099]) posix_spawn("/System/Library/Extensions/SierraDevSupport.kext/Contents/Resource s/SierraSWoCMon", ...): No such file or directory
9/1/10 10:29:30 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.sierrawireless.SierraSWoCMon[1099]) Exited with exit code: 1
9/1/10 10:29:30 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.sierrawireless.SierraSWoCMon) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
These messages are repeated over and over in the console logs on my Macbook Pro 13" mid-2009 model.
Thanks.

How did you "uninstall" that software? If you just trashed what you thought were the components of the software, it would have been better to use an uninstall utility or option if that was available.
Look in the /Library (at the top-level of the boot volume, not the one in your home folder) for these folders:
- LaunchAgents
- LaunchDaemons
- StartupItems
One of those may have a file related to that software that's still attempting to launch it. Once you've found the culprit, delete it.

  • Windows 8.1 Ent. Helix - Sierra Wireless EM7700 device error code 43

    System:
    Helix 3701XXX
    Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit
    Third Apps installed
    Latest Lenovo Drivers installed
    Problem:
Sierra Wireless EM7700 device experiences device code error 43 or not “USB device not recognized.” There are also times where there are two or more instances of the same device in Device Manager.
    When the problem occurs, users are unable to see the mobile broadband device under Network connections menu (Charms menu->Settings->Network Connections). Installed drivers on system: Sierra Wireless QMI Lenovo Driver Package 2.6.1.209.0. Experienced this issue with the Lenovo pre-load image and corporate image. The problem has been reported by 10+ users/systems;
    When it occurs:
The problem is intermittent; it often occurs after waking the system up from sleep or starting the system from a cold boot. As a workaround, the user has to restart the system a couple to several times in order for the device to be recognized.
Wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this on the Helix 3701XXX Windows 8.1 Enterprise? Any advice is appreciated.

I get similar problems with the Ericsson C5621 wireless card.
To be honest, almost every 3G\4G internal card I've experienced (in Dell, Toshiba and now Lenovo) have suffered from the same two problems (when used against UK mobile providers):
    i) issues resuming from sleep - typically the card not responding or not found until doing another sleep\resume or power cycle
ii) issues when moving quickly between cells (e.g. if using the device on a train etc.), when the card will stop transmitting traffic although claims to be connected, and then will become unresponsive attempted a disconnect and reconnect. Again power cycling the card (via sleep\resume, reboot, or occasionally disabling\renabling or uninstalling\reinstalling the driver) will resolve this.
Given that these cards are typically used in mobile devices where sleep\hibernate and being on the move are pretty common scenarios, it is frustrating that the 3G\4G hardware companies still can't get them to work reliable.

  • P205 S6267 problem uninstalling blackberry desktop software error 2738

I have been using Blackberry (BB) desktop software on my laptop to connect with my BB Curve 8320 (version 4.5.0.81)
When trying to syncronize with Windows calendar (running vista home premium with sp2) i encountered a problem where the calendar info on the blackberry was sync'd to windows but 16 hours earlier.
I was told by the helpful BB support people at T-mobile that i needed to download version 6.1 of the BB desktop software as this would fix the problem.
i downloaded and installed (they omitted to add that i should have uninstalled version 4.5 before!).
I now have desktop software that still shows version 4.5...... when i open it up. consequently i tried to uninstall using control panel. In control panel it shows version 6.1, but will not uninstall giving me error message 2738    "could not access VB script run time for custom action"
Also tried uninstalling using ccleaner, same result.
    Any ideas out there???
    Thanks

  • Problems reinstalling Intel ProSet Wireless software

My wife's T42 (2373-5TU) has somehow gotten into a state in which the WIFI adapter (Intel 2200BG) software doesn't work with WPA2-AES authentication.  I tried reinstalling using the latest-and-greatest drivers (6hwc05ww) from the Lenovo site.  However, the installation program produces a popup error message "Intel Wireless Management Service has encountered a problem and needs to close."  This message also occurs when I try to use the adapter.  Also, after reboot there's another popup window about an application error in S24EvMon.exe, which I think is related.
I have tried uninstalling the Intel software, but I get the same failure during the uninstall process.
At this point, the T42 works properly with unauthenticated networks, but I need to use WPA2-AES, and that doesn't work.
I also tried an earlier driver version: 1ywc54ww.  It refused to install because "A newer version of the Intel Pro/Wireless Network Connection driver is installed on this system."

Some more details: this is an XP system with service pack 3.
I upgraded Access Connections to version 5.33, but it doesn't seem to be able to work with the WIFI card.  In the "advanced" mode, it says "status not connected" and "help me fix this" says "incorrectly installed wireless driver or protocol" with an error code of 039.  But if I configure Windows to control the card, I can connect to various open networks.
I checked, and the "Wireless Zero Configuration" service is started.

  • Problem with HP 6500-E709n Wireless software on Windows 7 64-bit

How do I, or should I, uninstall Microsoft xps printer before installing HP 6500-E709n software on Windows 7 64-bit?
I have tried installing, uninstalling & reinstalling the software twice now and am preparing for a third installation. I inadvertently left the wireless printer on during the first installation & eversince then, I've had to physically unplug the printer to get it to shut off. Now, the printer will only shut off with the power button if I hit it before the wireless light comes on.  I cannot get the printer key pad keys to function at all, other than turning the power on & off as described above.
Up to now, I had been using a wireless network flawlessly with a NETGEAR router, untill I tried to install the HP software on my Windows 7 64-bit unit. Now my other computers no longer find the printer....I get the message the printer is off line.
I have currently unistalled all the HP software and rebooted for the third time. The Microsoft XPS printer now shows as the default printer...& I can't find it in the add-remove program list. Do I need to uninstall it before installing the HP software, or is my problem with the eprom firmware?

Experiencing trouble syncing with the 10.3 version of iTunes on my Windows Vista machine. Have uninstalled all Apple software twice, reinstalled and continue to get an error 7 message in connection with the Photo Processor. Any other ideas to try?

    Hi,
got it fixed! My Son had both files on his Win7 iTunes installation. Never mind he had no issues whith ths iTunes and iPhone Sync. So I checked my other Win XP PC, where I don't have this problem syncing my ipad, and surprise. Both files do NOT show up on this PC. So I renamed the iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe I found under c:\program file\iTunes and synced again my iPhone and it went through without any error. So the problem might be and unremoved iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe or the missing iTunesPhotoProcessor.dll under the iTunes install root folder and this even if I had checked that the folder was completely removed during iTunes unistall.
Please try yourselve and just rename the iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe to iTunesPhotoProcessor.exe_ under c:\program file\iTunes or get a copy of the missing iTunesPhotoProcessor.dll and cp to c:\program file\iTunes.

  • Restore error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software"

I am trying to restore my iPod and keep getting this message when I try: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." HELP! What do I do next???
      Windows XP

    Hi BigIRv,
Actually, a "requested resource" error message (which I believe you are getting) most of the time has to do with iTunes having a problem with connecting to your iPod, rather than the iPod software update server (although a more rare possibility of this error message could occur in that sense).
See my post here, which contains a couple of things to try if you have that error message:

    Hello chathamcpa,
I found an article with steps you can take when you are getting Error 7 when opening iTunes.  I recommend following the steps in this article:

Each time I attempt to download the new itunes 10.5 I keep getting the following error message:
Product: Apple Software Update -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action SoftwareUpdate_UnregServer, location: C:\Program Files\Apple Software Update\SoftwareUpdate.exe, command: /UnregServer
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Any Ideas of how to solve this one?

After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end.  Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
    1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
    2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually, and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.
Great work everyone who contributed!  Thank you very much!

  • Unable to Retore!  Error -48 Problem downloading the iPhone software

I was having trouble with Safari (reseting all the time) and wanted to try restoring my iPhone from scratch.
Each time I select "restore" I watch the download activate and when it's complete, I get the following error:
There was a problem downloading the iPhone software for the iPhone "My Name iPhone". An unknown error occured (-48).
I'm at a loss. Has anyone else seen this or have an answer?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Before you 'restore', you may wish to read this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304893
It addresses that error for the ipod. I myself might play around with the time zones first before I try restoring -- are they the same in the mac and the iphone? -- maybe temporarily switch to Pacific and see if the problem goes away.
You can also search for that error by putting it in quotes: "(-48)". You will get hits for the number 48 too.
Normally Macs don't have this issue. It seems as if you are running on USB 2.0 -- it probably should not be going thru a hub.
    Hope this helps.
