Problems updating metadata. iTunes Match reverts my changes

It's very annoying and frustrating that you can't edit metadata because almost all the times you do it, itunes reverts back the data to what was before. I have turned off itunes match on my iphone as I read but the problem continues. I use iTunes 11 and 10.8.5. It can be SO difficult to do this!. Thank you very much.

Thank you but I tried this and it doesn't work. Problems remain. Sometimes the changes remain and sometimes does not. You can't do a lot of editions because it is for sure you will loose a lot of your work. Please read this post, from almost two years ago, talking about the same problem and people complaining that Apple does not offer a solution: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17350097

  • Is there a way to update the itunes match to reflect changes that i have made on my computer

Every time i update itunes match it looses my alterations to my playlists and undoes any alterations to any albums i have made. Is there a way to update the itunes match to reflect changes that i have made on my computer?(Only copies new playlists and reverts old playlists to the way they were the first time I uploaded them) Any star ratings for albums are lost too if I put a star rating on them AFTER I first upload them to ITunes match.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and Merry Christmas you guys!

    HI
You don't need to select update iTunes match. It does not do what you expect!! You only need to make the changes and they will filter through to match naturally.

  • Genres do not update in itunes match.

I updated / removed over 100 genre's that I did not used to a more consolidated list.  After updating to itunes match my genre's on my iphone do not list properly, they are repeated again and again.   I turned itunes off and back on, to no avail?

When you are making ID3 tag changes in iTunes do not use the "Update iTunes Match" command. When you use that command you are telling iTunes to use the data in the cloud and not what you just did. Just make the changes and leave them alone. However, if you are making a lot of changes to ID3 tags over a short period of time sometimes the changes will not stick and will get reverted. So make your ID3 tag changes in small batches. Also, if the tracks are downloaded to your iOS device your changes won't show up until you delete the downloaded files from the iOS device.

  • I keep getting Error Code 4002 in iTunes when I try to update my iTunes Match.  I have turned off iTunes Match, then reinstalled it, but that does not seem to work.  I also get another Error Code (4010) sometimes.  Can someone offer advice?

I keep getting Error Code 4002 in iTuens when  try to update my iTunes Match.  I have turned off Match, then reconnected, but the code keeps coming.  So does Error Code 4010 at times.  Can someone help?

iTunes store, App Store, iTunes Match and various other services have been down for the past several hours. Apple's System Status page at http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/ now shows them back up but they are STILL NOT up for me or many other users. The error codes 4000 series refer to connection errors, I've gotten several from 4001-4010 all day. We're kind of at the mercy of Apple at this point. It would be nice if they would give us some notification about their problems since we are paying for their service.

  • I am having problems updating my itunes to the latest version, on each stage I am getting a message 'The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.'  I try to click OK it fails and I do not know an alternate path to select

I am having problems updating my itunes to the latest version, on each stage I am getting a message 'The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.'  I try to click OK it fails and I do not know an alternate path to select, please help?
    I get message like below on each stage of the update, Quicktime, Safari & iTunes;
It's so annoying as until I update my iTunes account my phone won't sync.

Many thanks for the screenshot. (The key to these is knowing which particular .msi file is being mentioned by the message.)
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
(Assuming that the QuickTime and Safari messages were also citing bonjour64.msi, you should also then be good to go with those installs too.)

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

If you have manually manage set, you do not sync.
If you want to sync, select the content desired to sync and sync.
This is all covered in the User's Guide.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • ITunes Match reverting changes

So I've gone through an entire 100+ song playlist and changed titles on all of the songs. As soon as I update iTunes Match, however, all of the song titles are reverted to what they were prior to the changes (and prior to the Match update).
I read that this problem has existed for a while. Is there a workaround? Or am I stuck with bad titles?

That's part of the problem, though. They do not. I changed the titles of the songs and the changes do not propagate at all. And when I update, the changes are reverted back to the original state (which I don't want).
(And saying "don't update" doesn't help since there will be times down the road when I do have to update, and even if it's a month from now, I'm sure those changes will be reverted again.)

  • ? After updating my iTunes match, I noticed that some music files were no longer listed on my cloud on my laptop.  They are still listed on my iPhone. These are files imported to the cloud from legitimate CDs.

Just updated iTunes Cloud.  Noticed that some music files are missing, entire playlists.  They were here a few hours ago, now they are not.
But they are still on the cloud menu on my smartphone.
Files uploaded to cloud from CDs, legit, no boots or anything like that.
My iTunes is 10/7.0.21.  I have the newer version on a desktop and don't much care for it, so have resisted updating on the laptop, which is my primary computer.
I've rebooted the computer, turned off iTunes Match and turned it back on again.  No change.
Lots of questions.  How can my cloud catalog be different on different devices?  How can I get this stuff back on my lap-top cloud?  Anyone else having problems like this?  I'm trying to trim my physical collection by importing stuff to the cloud and discarding the physical media.  Am I shooting myself in the metaphorical foot?
    Suggestions much appreciated.

You might want to post this over in the iTunes Match forum.

  • How do I get update iphone apps update without itunes match?

I'm not a Luddite but ... Don't want Cloud, too many problems, and don't want to update to iTunes 10.7 if match is included. So the question becomes how do I get updates for my apps without the new iTunes store agreement. I feel as though I'm dealing with Micro-you-know-who and having a bunch of garbage shoved down my throat. And looking through all the questions about software not working properly... I've been there before. What is going on with Apple? Makes me really nervous.
    Help, please .............

Match is optional (in fact you have to pay extra for it) - so carry on as before.
iCloud is separate from iTunes and is used for syncing - it's generally recommended you use a separate Apple Id for the stores(s) and iCloud anyway - that way the family can share music & apps but sync individually.

    Shawn

  • How do I get iTunes match to accept changes made to my library?

After making changes in my iTunes library (Genre, Album Information, etc.) iTunes Match reverses all the hours of organizing I have done and returns it to the original state. How do I make sure my library is the master source and allow me to force upload changes to the cloud and not vice versa?

    Hi,
THis is an issue that is reported regularly on this forum.
Changes made to data when match is turned on should automatically filter through to the cloud. No need to select update iTunes match. This is the way it should work and I have not had any major issues. The only exception seems to be iTunes store purchases but only on a small number. The changes eventually stick after a few attempts.
I Keep all my music in my library on my main computer. Changes filter through to my other computer which is set up to stream. I sometimes do the change on that computer. Such changes appear on my main computer.

  • 11.4.0.18 update - No iTunes Match

I just updated my iTunes for Windows to 11.4.0.18, and afterwards the "Match" button disappeared.  I subscribe to iTunes match, but now don't know how to control it since the button has disappeared.  I received an error message asking me to sign out and back in.  When I signed back in, the button disappeared.

    Hi RayComplex,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you are having issues with iTunes Match after a recent update, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Problem updating my itunes software!

    Please help me!!
I have updated my iphone from a 3GS to a 4S and am having difficulties updating my itunes so that I can sync all of my contacts/photos/music etc
    I've attempted updating directly through Itunes & also tried downloading the latest version from the website. The following is what happens;
    - Itunes downloads to the computer and I proceed to run the setup
    - the 'Welcome to Itunes' window pops up, I click next and begin updating
    - It then gets half way through and I get a message pops up stating 'There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package, A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor'
I have run this process over 10 times and It is the same message. I dont understand!!!
    Can anyone help me??

This is not hard to solve. You need to make sure you uninstall all iTunes components (along with iTunes) by following precisely this support page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Next, restart your PC and reinstall iTunes from here:

  • HT4914 Why can I not update my iTunes Match subscription from my iPad? Must I access from a PC?

I have been getting emails syaing my iTunes Match subscription will expire soon and if I do not renew I will not be able to access my music on iCloud. Also, it says I cannot update my account from an iOS device. But I no longer have iTunes installed on a PC - I only access from an iPad or iPhone. What can I do?

I always get an error message "Cannot update iOS software" or something to that effect everytime I try. I've tried plugging my iPad to my laptop computer and then my computer directly to internet connection (we have a router that allows WiFi access, so I thought I'd try to bypass the router instead), but this did not work.  I've tried restoring my iPad via connected to my computer through iTunes, that worked for a short time and was able to update the apps I wanted, but soon after one of the apps stopped working properly, and then the apps I wanted to get from the App Store just wouldn't install or load...Instead they would be having "Waiting..." for the longest time until I give up and delete them. I've tried restarting my iPad, no luck either.  I've also gone through the Reset process of "Erase All Content and Settings" i.e., Restore, and like mentioned above, it worked for a little while then it went back to square one, as I mentioned a sentence or two previously.
I've no idea what is going on, why it's not working, or anything.  I just wonder if it's got anything to do with a slow internet connection (we don't have high-speed internet access), or something else I haven't found that may be just under my nose.
I would love some help and input into my situation, all and any ways which allow me to keep my current iPad (which is the New Generation one), not having to trash it and replace it with a new one.
Have you tried to restore as a new device? Maybe a glitch exists on the restored backup, try this:
