Problems upgrading raw converter for cs6

I have a cs6 license and recently had an update applied to the raw converted to handle my sony a7s.  I also wanted to upgrade the raw converted for my cs6 version on an mac I use at a second home.  It did do an upgrade but not high enough to deal with the new camera.
I'm on a mac mini running osx 10.6.8.  When I try to open a sony arw file in camera raw if gives a dialog box indicating it can't open the file and gives a link to a spread sheet showing the minimum version of camera raw of 8.5 to open the a7s arw file.  If I look at the version of camera raw I'm using I get 7.0.0.308.  To do an update for the raw converter while I am in bridge I go to help and use the update item.  I did an update to 7.0.0.308 when I originally ran the update option but hat is obviously not high enough to deal with the sony arw files.  I basically did the same thing on my main computer and had no problem.
Any ideas?

Here is an installer for camera raw 8.3, so at least you'll have the newest version that mac os x 10.6.8 supports.

If the above doesn't work, you can try a manual install by following the instructions in the following adobe kb.

  • RAW converter for Canon G 10

Any idea when RAW converter for new Canon G 10 might be available for
LR 2.1 (Also use CS3) on MAC OS X.
    Thanks... N. Borden

    >I converted G 10 raw images with DNG converter as you suggested and DNG files are now 64 mbs...original raw file was 15 mb.. what am I doing wrong? no jpeg preview checked off, I am not embedding raw file, checked off lossless in prefs.... (compressed). convert to linear.... how can i get smaller files?
Those settings are all wrong. A normal dng is smaller than the CR2 but has equal quality. Just use the default settings. You should NOT uncheck lossless compression. Lossless compression is a compression method that does not lose any quality. You should NOT make a linear version as that demosaics the RAW data, which you do not want to do.
    >In any case, using DNG also adds another step in the work flow....will LR 2.1 have a built in raw converter for the g10 at some point....
It's a tiny step and you end up with smaller files. Anyway LR 2.2, due any moment now, will support the G10 directly.

  • TS2518 RAW-converter for Fuji X-T1 ?

Wenn can we expect the right RAW-converter for the new Fuji X-T1 for Aperture?

sorry, no. Fujifilm X-T1 is not yet on the list of supported cameras, see:
Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
Only Apple could tell you, if or when raw support for the camera will be released, and they do not announce this information in advance.  We are are only users here like yourself, so we cannot tell you.

Danke.

  • Mac OS-X Raw Converter for Canon produces sometimes wrong colors

I have just acquired a Canon 5D Mark II and I have some problems with the RAW converter supplied with Mac OS. The image is 21 Megapixels and it is the result of a long exposure.
If I use the Canon Digital Photo Professional to produce the JPEG, I get correct results. If I use the
RAW converter supplied by Apple (used in Aperture, IPhoto, and Preview), then the picture has a
mauve-violet color. I can supply the test images along with the JPEG produced by the Canon software.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jean

Sounds like you may want to file a bug report with Apple. You can use Aperture's "submit feedback" button.

  • Elements 9 Raw Converter for Nikon D800

When will the update for the Elements 9 raw converter be ready for the Nikon D800?

    Probably never.
You will need the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your D800 NEF photos to DNG, which can then be opened in PSE9.

  • How do I download RAW converter for CS5 from Nikon 5200?

I have Photoshop Elements 5 and have shot in RAW for the first time with my Nikon 5200.  I am unable to open images in files or bring files into photoshop.  How do I do this?  Thanks

Which version of windows are you using?
Since pse 5 can only be updated to camera raw 4.6 and your nikon 5200 needs at least camera raw 7.7, you could use
the adobe dng converter to convert the 5200 nefs to dng copies, which pse 5 should then open.

  • Has a RAW converter for the Canon 7G MarkII been added yet?

Im trying to find out whether the Canon 7G Mark II has been added to the Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Raw Converter

    >This is not how a customer service oriented company should operate.
Indeed Canon should work with third party raw conversion providers (Apple, Adobe, DxO, PhaseOne) to provide raw support from the day they release the camera by giving access to prerelease cameras or by using an open raw format. Canon (like Nikon) is not a customer-oriented company as they don't seem to understand that very few photographers use their dinky software and that the overwhelming majority prefer third party raw converters. Instead they expect Apple, Adobe, PhaseOne, etc. to go out to the store when a new hot camera comes out, buy a few copies and profile the new camera (quite a laborious process) and reverse engineer the raw file format and push out an update to their raw converter when it is added before their customers get raw support. These companies don't get these cameras any quicker than you or I do. To the contrary Canon or Nikon could have Apple, Adobe, etc. provide support for their cameras from day one by sharing some info, or by simply using an open raw format such as dng. Other camera makers do this and their cameras' raw files are usually supported right away.
The big two are not going to get this until they hear that we refuse to buy their cameras without third-party raw support. Some like Thom Hogan have actually already claimed that slow initial sales of many new Nikon and Canon cameras was caused by this. Apparently people are wisely waiting for third party raw converters to have support for new cameras before buying. I know I do this as Lightroom ACR, and Aperture are my main raw tools.

  • Which RAW converter for unsupported cameras (here: Fuji Finepix S100FS ?

I just started to shoot in RAW and have not yet found a good workflow. I am using the Fuji Finepix S100FS whose RAW files are not supported by Aperture. Which RAW converter do you recommend?
I tried already Rawker but my impression is that the outcome is not very good although the workflow is quite easy. I tried also the Fuji Finepix studio but it is terribly slow and the layout makes it unusable for me.
I am considering to buy RAW Developer. But I hesitate to pay more than 90 Euro just for a converter (I would like to use Aperture for all adjustments).

    ...DxO is supporting your camera...
You can download a trial version at DxO.com
DxO gives a wide variety of adjustment.
Export to JPG, TIF and (linear) DNG.
...Adobe Lightroom does not support your camera's files.
It's a pity because it runs faster and smoother than Aperture.
I presume that Adobe DNG Converter does not support your cam.
...you might try graphic converter too...

  • How can I get raw converter for Sony a7m2

Aperture does not recognize raw files from my new Sony Alpha a7m2 camera. How can I get an update for Aperture? I have Aperture 3.6.
I have macbook pro retina display using ox10.10.1

Check, if your camera is on this list, that shows the supported cameras: http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
I could not find it there, but perhaps the camera is known by more than one name.
If the camera is not yet supported, you will have to wait, until Apple releases raw support for the camera and use the software that came with your camera to develop the raw files.

  • Raw Converter for Digital Rebel XT

I have iphoto 6 and a Digital Rebel XT - it has taken great pictures in jpeg but I always wanted to know the benefit of shooting raw.
I just took some pictures in Raw +jpeg setting but need to convert and .....
1- please advice on which raw converter to use?
2- Are there any free converters that would work?
3- Is it a difficult process to convert?
please advice on the proper steps. Have no knowledge of the process.

How many ways can I say this:
There is no best. There is no simpler. Each Raw processor will give you slightly different results, only you can decide which you like best. And as I have no idea what your experience is, how can I tell which one you will find most simple? You really have to some work on this yourself. Go to MacUpdate, search, download, explore, test and make your own mind up.
