Problems upgrading to Flash player v11 on Windows 2003 Terminal Server
Hello
I am trying to upgrade several Windows 2003 32-bit terminal servers, v5.2 to Flash IE plugin version 11.1.102.63. This has not worked on the first two servers that I tried, and subsequently I have been concentrating my testing on just one of them. The version on the servers prior to the attempted upgrade was 10.3.181.14.
On each occasion that I attempt the upgrade, the executable initially runs, but then does nothing. The running process is visible in Task Manager, using no processing resource, and around 18MB of memory. Unless I kill the process manually, it will sit like this indefinitely. If I attempt the install again, I get a message informing me that only one instance of the process can run.
I have tried rebooting the server, I have tried running the install in terminal server install mode, I have tried uninstalling the previous version, I have tried re-installing the previous version (which works fine). For some reason, this particular version will not run.
Any suggestions as to the next step would be very gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

Windows 2003 Terminal Server, ZEN 7, and WSUS
Hi,
We're having a problem getting a group policy to "Stick" in Windows 2003
terminal server. The server(s) have the ZEN 7.01 agent installed per
the TID's for a terminal server. We believe we've set all the Group
Policies of the users that login to these systems, yet once they are
rebooted, the WSUS update server location resets to the default
(update.microsoft.com). This is set in gpedit in:
\computer configuration\administrative templates\Windows
Components\Windows Update
Is this settable in a user package, or should this be done in a
workstation package? If so, could we "force" the workstation package to
override the Windows Update settings for all users, regardless of what
user policy package they have?
Thanks for any ideas!
GregIn the Properties of the WS Group Policy, there is an option to set "Loop
Back" so that the Computer GPO is set last.

I dream of running Dreamweaver on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server
I have a "volume" license and attempted to install Dreamweaver CS4 on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server. I get an error message right away indicating that the system does not meet the minimum install requirements, ie XP/Vista.
Adobe volume licensing team verified that it is the correct license for installing on a terminal server, but after one hour of what would a bad nightmare with adobe "no" support (Outsourcing issue, failure to grasp and process the basic error message) I got no where and am having to resort to the forums. I have googled on this and got no where and nothing on the search efforts on this site.
If anyone has an idea of what is going on, bug, wrong install media, please clue me in.
Thanks!pziecina
Thanks for the information. We do have AppV here and tried that approach. While this gets us past the install minimum requirements, it does not resolve the issue of running of more than one instance at a time, per terminal server, even though our volume license allows for it. -
Any known issues with Flash player 9 and windows 2003 compatibility?
Hi guys..
Is there any known compatibility problem with running flash
applications
on Windows 2003 Server?
My application runs just so well with Windows XP
yet it throws a 2015 bitmap error
when it is being run on the windows 2003 server.
(Not quite often but often enough. the only difference is the
operating
system)
Is there any known issue about this?
Or could there be any compatibility problem with flash player
and
windows 2003?
Any hints would be deeply appreciated...
Thank you...Hyperion 32-bit Web Apps are fully compatible with Essbase 64-bit. Same with 32-bit Essbase client.

New create desktop shortcut GPO is causing 1030 and 1058 errors on a Windows 2003 terminal server
Primary DC: Win2012. BDC: Win2008. Clients: Win7, Win8.1. Maintaining an old Win2003 terminal server to run legacy software.
Everything works fine for a look time until I added a new GPO to create a desktop shortcut on the client machines, Windows 2003 runs into Error 1030 (Cannot query list of GPO) and Error 1058 (Cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO, The system cannot find
the path specified) GP processing aborted).
Tried changing the GPO to target Win7 and 8.1 only. Tried creating shortcut using Computer Config settings only as well as User Config settings only. Deleting the GPO and creating it from scratch. Nothing works, as soon as GPO is in place,
it disables the Win2003 from processing any other GPO.
No issue with the client machines or other Windows servers.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Roget LuoHi Roget,
Thanks for posting here.
Error 1030 and 1058 could be caused by many aspects.
Firstly, please run the command dcdiag on the command prompt of a DC to check if there are any error.
Secondly, make sure the DFS service is started on the domain controller, and set the Startup type to automatic.
What's more, make sure the TCP/IP Helper service is started on the domain co, set it to Automatic and started it.

Excel 2010 is Crashes on Windows 2003 Terminal Server
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Office 14
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Description:
Faulting application excel.exe, version 14.0.6106.5005, stamp 4e26f27d, faulting module excel.exe, version 14.0.6106.5005, stamp 4e26f27d, debug? 0, fault address 0x0026c1c7.Problems with Excel crashing can be caused by several things.
Firstly, could you please let us know if excel will crashes when you open blank excel file? Does this issue happen with normal users or administrator?
There are some resolutions you can have a try.
1. Make sure your office program is up to date.
2. Try to start excel in safe mode
3. Check if excel will crashes when change a user account to open an excel file
4. Perform a clean boot startup to determine whether a program, process, or service conflicts with Excel -
Windows 2008 Terminal Server issue after swapping modem/router
Hi, I have a problem I just can't crack.
Windows 2008 Terminal Server, all patched and up to date. The IP Address is 192.168.1.11 (on a teamed intel controller). Terminal services enabled and working ok.
TP-Link Modem 192.168.1.1, RDP Port forwarded ok.
Set the Windows gateway to 192.168.1.1 and external access to RDP is not a problem.
We had some modem speed issues, so we got a much faster connection, but it can't be used for incoming RDP, so left the TP-Link in place. So added a 3G modem at 192.168.1.5 and set that as the gateway.
External RDP access still works perfectly, and now users have much faster internet.
The TP-Link is giving some reliability issues, so I swapped it over for another modem, a Billion modem. Same 192.168.1.1 IP address, same port forwarding. External RDP access is no longer possible.
Swap back to the TP-Link and everything is fine. Test the modem on another site, everything works as expected.
If I set the gateway on the terminal server to 192.168.1.1 with the Billion attached then external RDP access is no problem. If I set it to 192.168.1.5 then it stops working again.
I tried with a new TP-Link modem of the same model with exactly the same settings and this also had the same problem. External RDP access will only work the existing TP-Link modem, which is a problem as the modem appears to be faulty.
It's almost like it hasn't worked out that it's a new network, and when Windows does that it seems to lock down RDP. That is only my assumption from experience of moving computers to new networks and RDP won't work until windows prompts you with the new
network screen to select home, office or public.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before or can shed some light on the problem?
Thanks.Hi,
How is the issue going now? Is there any update?
Thanks.

Transition from Windows 2003 Terminal Sever to Mac Server
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.
We currently have a Windows 2003 terminal server hosted remotely, it's only function is to serve Quickbooks enterprise and to store documents, with a maximum of 8 simutaneous connections.
We would like to eliminate this service and do everything in-house with a Mac server. All of our 8 employees are now on Mac.
Here is my question: What would the ideal setup be? The problem is that Quickbooks is a Windows version. The Mac version is not as robust as we need so we need to stay with the Windows version.
Do we install Quickbooks on a virtual install of Windows on the Mac server using terminal service? Or should we install Quickbooks on each users Mac with virtual Windows and every file save, saved to the server without a windows install?
Thanks again for any advise!

We currently have a Windows 2003 terminal server hosted remotely, it's only function is to serve Quickbooks enterprise and to store documents, with a maximum of 8 simutaneous connections.
The quick answer is to move the server to you location. Now I am sure that statement alone will generate all kinds of responses. So I will attempt to explain my position:
1. Running QBE on a virtual server on a Windows system is not eagerly supported by Intuit much less running it on a virtual system on a Mac.
2. The Ideal setup would be to have QBE running on a Windows Server (that you own and control) and continue to access it via RDP.
Do we install Quickbooks on a virtual install of Windows on the Mac server using terminal service? Or should we install Quickbooks on each users Mac with virtual Windows and every file save, saved to the server without a windows install?
3. Unfortunately QBE is not designed to work in that manner – both QBE and QB require a ‘QuickBooks’ data server this in turn requires a Windows box of some type. Also are you using the SQL Version of QBE as this will also impact which way you should go.
4. Though you could install Windows on all your Macs the cost to do so would be more that purchasing a Windows Server and managing it yourself.
- $80 ea for Parallels $640
- $299 ea for Windows XP $2392
I did not include Windows Server /w TS CALs as you will need to purchase this regardless which method you select – though purchasing Windows with a server is considerably cheaper than buying retail.
Finally I can understand your desire to work in a homogonous environment, though I am concerned that the amount of time required getting QBE running within a virtual environment be it Windows or Mac and installing Windows on your Macs may consume more time than you may be able to take away from your business.

Upgrade adobe flash player on windows 8 ?
How do I upgrade adobe flash player on windows 8?
Please help some one..It depends on your web browser of choice, not OS. If you use IE or FireFox, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and you will be able to download and install the lastest version of Flash Player.
Chrome has it's own built in Flash Player that updates silently in the background, but you can use the link in Chrome to install the standard Flash Player as well. Then you just need to modify the settings for Chrome to look to the standard Flash Player instead of the one built into Chrome. But that usually requires a specific need.
I've also moved this to the Flash Player Forum. -
Windows vista - IE 7 - problem with adobe flash player
last week I bought a notebook with MS vista home premium,
after some hours of
enthusiasm I had problems with adobe flash player.
Accessing to some sites I receiveed the requested to install
flash player, I did it and even if the installation seemed
ended fine I always got the pop up with the request to
install Flash player, as if it were not previously installed.
I did a boot after every installation.
I read your forum on:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=44&catid=184&threadid =1262552&enterthread=y
and I tried to follow some suggestions reported on it , like
uninstall the flash player using the
downloaded uninstall program from adobe site then I tried to
reinstall flash player “as administrator”
but always the installation appeared to end fine, the
programs was present into macromed flash directory
but I continue to receive the pop up to install flash player,
moreover some
images commonly shown when I visit the same sites from
another PC with XP are not shown on the new
pc with Vista, I think that also this problem could be
connected to flash player not well installed
One of these sites is www.rossoalice.it or youtube.
At this point, I think that the problem can be on the
registry but I don’t know what I can check.
I sow on the above adobe forum that mr. Darren J. McNally was
involved in this kind of problem,
every your suggestions will be very appreciated.I got my computer about 6 months ago and i use
foxfire but i need explorer to work for my games but the adobe
flash player dont work i think if this cant be fixed vista i
probaly the gayest thing u can have on ur computer and adobe should
stop making flash players that dont work and just go do something
like sell stuffed animals at a carnival unless thats just to hard
for them and they wont do that right either. Grrrrrrrrrrr read this
and laugh or follow instructions or get back to. this be an angry
letter for sho. scuba steve out. and ahhhhhhh if u find solution
tell me asap or i will eat a cat for everyday u dont tell me im

I am current having a problem wwith flash player 9 under
windows 98. It seem that when I visit a site that uses Flash player
that Flash keeps using more and more of the system memory to the
point that the system resources will be exhausted, causing the PC
to slow and stop functioning properly. Once either all instances of
IE or Firefox are closed the resources are returned and my PC
operates "normally" again. Depending upon which web sites are
visited this problem can occour after as little as 5-10 minutes.
Returning to flash player 8 removed this problem. Are they any
known confiliction under windows 98 when using flash player 9?
Any help with this problem would be greatly
appreciated.well I managed to generate some good news. I attempted
installing the version 9 again and it didn't work so I went
throught the install list and located the subdirectory it was
attempting to ubsuccessfully install into and deleted the entire
subdirectory and reinstalled again. this time it correctly
installed version 9 and when I rebooted and ran the version checker
it finally responded with the correct version 9 within the correct
oS win 98. I think what had happened is I accidently clicked the
uopgrade icon and it overwrote version 9 with version 10 and
wouldn't allow me to rewrite the version 9 back into its original
location. anyways it is now working and I'll know better that to
authorize a version upgrade on the 98 system. -
How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?
How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?
I have a few hundred computers running Adobe Flash Player.
The operation system is Windows XP.
They are Compaq 6005 desktop PC’s, with an inbuilt ATI radeon HD 4200 video card.
We have a persistent issue where viewing a flash video (e.g. something on youtube) causes the video card driver to crash. You are left with no video signal to the monitor. Audio continues and the computer still responds to commands. This only happens when watching flash video.
We have tried:
Updating flash plugin (numerous versions)
Updating the video card drivers (we have tried the last three video card driver versions, including the HP drivers and ATI drivers)
Updating the browsers (this problem happens with IE8/9 and Firefox10/11/12)
There seems to be two ways to work round this issue. One is to disable the video acceleration in the ‘troubleshoot’ section in the advanced part of the display settings area in windows. The other way is to start a flash video, right click, go to ‘settings’ and untick the box marked ‘Enable Hardware Acceleration’.
Doing either of these things allows the user to view flash videos with no apparent issues.
Is there a way to disable the hardware acceleration in Flash without visiting the PC? Perhaps an undocumented option in the mms.cfg file? I understand that you can use an option to skip the video card check, and so force hardware acceleration on, can you do the opposite?
Thanks in advance
Daniel.Hi.
I have had over 200 views, and no suggestions as to how this could be fixed.
I have also posted in the general flash forum, that thread has fewer views.
If I should put this question in a different forum please let me know which one.
If what I am asking is not possible is there a mechanism for escalating this issue or requesting a feature for the next version of flash?
Thanks. -
Registry problems when installing Flash Player
Hi, first of all, sorry for any misspelling, I'm Argentinian . I'm writing here because I've tried a LOT of ways and solutions to install Flash Player for IE, here some facts:
I mostly use Google Chrome, that has the FP already installed, but i have a problem with the ActiveX control, I can install Flash player 11 for windows but Not ActiveX... i read that that's a tool for IE, so i thought i wouldn't be needing it, but when i tried to execute a program (Game Ranger) it said that i needed ActiveX control and that i didn't have it in my computer.. So i started to check for solutions, etc etc. and finally give it up because i just couldn't do it, but well now I started again because I want to know if it's something important to have..
The problem when installing is this: It starts to download Flash Player.. then install it and when it's in 51% it stops and a message appears saying: registry error. this is what happens when I try to install ActiveX, not Flash Player itself because as I said earlier I can install it...
All I want to know is if there's some way to allow Flash Player installation to change registry values.. because i think that's the main problem.. i think. Thank you for reading.
Edit: Forgot to tell information about my system.
OS: Windows 7 32-bitsTried it. Same error, which is the last one in this page: http://kb2.adobe.com/es/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_CommonErrors
