Problems Uploading Book from Aperture

I am trying to upload a book from Aperture. It takes quite a while and then it just gives me an error message - A Connection Could Not Be Established At This Time.
My Internet connection is fine so I wondered if this was a problem with Apple's servers - is anyone else seeing the same?
Thx
Brendan

Working now. Must have been a problem with Apple over the weekend.

  • Shutterfly Books from Aperture?

    Hello!
We have a collection of photobooks printed with Shutterfly, and we like their covers very much, much nicer than the Apple covers.
I have moved to Aperture, and am wondering if there exists a plugin or somehow an option to print a book with Shutterfly directly from Aperture. That would be more convenient than having to upload the JPG photos into the Shutterfly interface.
Any input you may have will be welcome.
I asked this question in 2009 but got no answer, I am asking again just in case something has been made available since then.
Best wishes and thanks for any input.

I only know of the Shutterfly plug-in for iPhoto:  http://www.shutterfly.com/upload-pictures/index.jsp
But if you are using compatible, recent versions of both Aperture and iPhoto (Aperture 3.3: Using a unified photo library with iPhoto and Aperture), you could open your Aperture library temporarily in iPhoto to use the uploader.
From Aperture's "File" menu:  File > Open library in iPhoto
Then upload the album of images you want to use and switch back to Aperture:    File > Open library in Aperture.
Dirctly from Aperture it seems not to be possible afaik, see Frank Caggiono's post:

  • Is it possible to export a Book from Aperture 3 to iPhoto?

I shot a wedding for a friend and made a layout of a book on Aperture 3.
Printed a few books which I thought were beautiful.
I was wondering if it would be possible to export this book from Aperture (with the layout and photos intact) as a file (editable or read-only), so my friend can import and open it using iPhoto and order more copies of the book through Apple when she pleases.
Tried Google and couldn't find an answer. Thank you for taking the time.

How about importing from iPhoto into Aperture 3?
I have made a photobook in iPhoto and then bought Aperture 3, but I can't find it possible to export the book in a format that I can open in Aperture. Also, when I export the book in size Large or above, iPhoto crashes.

  • Problem uploading files from Dreamweaver CS3 to Yahoo

I am having a problem uploading files from Dreamweaver CS3 to
    an FTP site on Yahoo.
The error message I get is "No response from server.
    Reconnecting..."
I am able to connect to Yahoo using other FTP clients
    successfully.
I am able to connect to Yahoo using Dreamweaver MX 2004
    successfully.
I tried playing with various settings (i.e. passive ftp,
server compatibility options) but to no avail.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

I tried enabling passive FTP but it doesn't help.

  • Problem Importing Photos from Aperture 3 into iPhoto '11

I store my photos in Aperture 3, but import them into iPhoto to create calendars, cards, etc. I usually work with RAW or high resolution JPG images in Aperture. However, when I import these into the new iPhoto '11, it automatically converts my RAW images into very low resolution images (e.g., 100-200k instead of at least 1-2MB). I cannot seem to find an option to change this. This was not a problem with the old iPhoto. To import, I start in iPhoto, then click "Show Aperture Library", then drag my photos/folder. I would like to have an option to import images as RAW files, or just high res JPGs.
I know I can export my Aperture images to the desktop, then import them into iPhoto for a temporary fix, but that is such as hassle, especially since iPhoto and Aperture are supposed to work well together. Thanks for any suggestions!

Aperture creates preview images that contain all the adjustments you've made to the master image. These previews are what is shared with other apps such as iLife or if you drag and drop an image out of Aperture to another app or the Finder.
The size of the previews is controlled in Aperture Preferences. Open Aperture Preferences and click on the Previews icon at the top. In the bottom of this dialog there is a popup menu titled "Photo Preview". This is the setting that controls the size of the image Aperture shares with iPhoto. Change this setting to the size you want.
But wait, you're not done yet. Changing this setting does nothing until a new preview is created in Aperture. If you right click an image in Aperture there is a menu item near the bottom named "Update Preview". But what you really need is "Generate Preview". Right click the image and then hold down the option key and you'll see "Update Preview" change to "Generate Preview". Choose "Generate Preview" and a new preview will be created using the new size setting you made in Preferences. You need to do this for each and every image you wish to share at the larger size. You can select multiple images before selecting the "Generate Preview" command to speed things up.
Now when you share an image from Aperture to iPhoto the new larger file will be used. The advantage of smaller previews is your Aperture library will also be smaller but the trade off is what you get in other apps that are using your images.

  • Problem importing library from Aperture

After having imported my whole library from Aperture to Lightroom, I end up with 23000 photos, instead of 35000....

Could be a number of factors going on.  First, your library may have a large number of non-importable files, such as PNGs or MOVs.    Second, you may be looking at a view including versions in Aperture.  Do you use versions extensively?  There also could have been a problem during import, but that would require more information to troubleshoot.

  • Is there a way to import a book FROM aperture to iphoto?

I have downloaded the trial version of Aperture and created a book that I want to purchase.  I am on the fence about keeping Aperture, but I would like to have the book available to re-order if necessary.  Can I import that book to iPhoto?

I guess you could "export" a photo from Aperture, then "import" a photo into iPhoto... not very clean, but it will probably work. Doing a book won't work.

  • ITunes - Problem recognising photos from Aperture 3

I'm having issues with iTunes recognising my photos from Aperture 3.
For example, in my default Aperture library, in one of my projects it has about 2000 photos but when i went to the iTunes photo tab for my devices (iPhones, AppleTV or iPad) and select that particular project, it indicates that there are only 229 photos.
I've tried to fix this issue by creating a new library and copying photos from my default to the new library and same issue is still there. I've tried to fix it by deleting all the ipod photo cache within Aperture 3 package content.
Nothing worked. This problem only started about 3 months ago. Before, iTunes would recognise all 2000 photos within the project and sync to my devices all the photos. Now iTunes only sync across 229 photos.
For each device, whether it is my AppleTV, my iPhone or iPad it all says 229 photos.
My AppleTV has about 40 GB spare and my iPad has more then 15 GB spare and iTunes still reports 229 Photos for that project.
    Could someone please help me!?
    Thanks in advance

  • My first book from Aperture

I was curious about the book feature in Aperture and decided to give it a try. My previous experience with books is with WHCC, so I will use them as a comparison.
It was extremely easy to make the book. Apple designed this process very well and it is easy to go from book view to edit mode and back. It is also easy to change page layouts, swap pictures, etc. To create a book from WHCC, you must download a template from their website and make it yourself in Photoshop. This is much less user friendly.
The pricing was fair for what you get. I ordered the 8.5x11 20 page softcover book for $20. I can't remember the last time I paid sales tax for an online purchase, but Apple charged it. Shipping was $6 which I also found to be fairly expensive. I ordered the book on 9/24, got shipping notification on 9/28, and received it on 10/2. This is a little slow for my tastes, but I wasn't ordering at the last minute so it didn't really matter. WHCC processes all orders the same day, includes shipping in the (higher) tax-free price, and gets it to your door in 2 days. That is a much more satisfying experience.
I was completely satisfied with image quality. The images in the book were just as I saw them on the screen. Color reproduction was accurate. The book was of family photos that I will be giving away to a family member. It was more than adequate for this purpose. If I were to rate the print quality of WHCC products at 10, this book from Apple would come in at a 9.
This was a good first experience for me. I won't stop using WHCC because I love the quality of their products, but I certainly see myself creating more books in Aperture.

Thank you for posting about the books.
I placed an order for a book yesterday (also using Aperture 2.1) and am expecting it any day now. I'm happy to hear things went well.
I hope I will be able to post a similar entry as yours soon (i.e. happy customer).

  • Is anyone else having problems with books from Lulu?

I am working on a Mac and recently downloaded Adobe Digital Editions. I have a book from Google and a free book from Adobe, both are fine. But I recently purchased two books from Lulu, an ePub for Digital Editions and a PDF for Digital Editions. When I try to download them I receive the .acsm file, but when I click on it, I get an error message in ADE of:
    Error getting license
    Server communication problem: E_ADEPT_IO
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I tried the chat support but was not able to fix my problem. The attempted solutions were to check my clock settings (automatic and correct), download Google Chrome (ugh, my third browser, really?) and then turn off the firewall and ensure the proxy settings are set to bypass for http://adeactivate.adobe.com/. Still not successful. I keep getting the same error message. Has anyone else successfully fixed this error? Haha, old school books are looking better and better right now.

Stuck in the software time warp, eh?
First, the error message isn't described very well - and shame on Adobe for
that.  If I understand it correctly, it's telling you that you can't
establish a connection with your ebook source because of security issues.
Monkeying around with ADE software isn't going to help at all, as you've
found out.  Cross your fingers that something inside ADE hasn't gone awry
with all of the installs you've done.
You're in a MAC world, and I'm still a Windows guy, so I can speak only
generically about what's going on.  No - you don't need a new browser.
It's probably not a clock issue either, because that's a different cryptic
error message.  So, we're back to the security settings.  Something isn't
right - but not being a MAC guy, I don't know what knobs to tweak.

  • Problems syncing books from iTunes to iPad

    Hi
I hope someone can help me.  I'm having trouble syncing all my books from itunes to my ipad mini.  I've checked the box to sync all books, but despite this, not all the books are syncing.  I've even tried checking the "sync only selected books" and selected all the books, but still the same problem.  I have 5.41 gb free on my ipad so it isn't a storage issue
I've restarted and restored my ipad, and rebooted my mac, but the problem persists and I'm now at a complete loss as to what the problem is.
I haven't downloaded OS Mavericks because of the problem people have experienced by losing the Books tab in itunes, so my books tab is still showing and all my books are in itunes and not the iBook app.
    Help please

Are you sure you have correct colletion on iBook App. Collections> Books

  • Ordering a book from Aperture - Quick but important question

I have a book ready to be ordered from Aperture, but I want it to be shipped to a different address than what I have registered with Apple (it's a mother's day gift, which I realize will be late). Do I need to change my shipping address temporarily in my 1-Click settings, or will an option show up during the order process where I can input a new address? Thanks!

    Disregard, I found my answer

  • Problem uploading pictures from my computer to internet

I just got my new imac. I have since uploaded two "events" in iPhoto and wanted to upload some of these pictures from my computer to some online programs (flikr etc..). But when I go to choose the photos to upload, I go to user - pictures - and then there is iPhoto Library and Photobooth. But photobooth is the only one that has a little arrow allowing me to choose the pictures in that folder. Iphoto library doesn't have an arrow and therefore doesn't even seem to read that there are indeed photos in the library. What is going on??
    PLEASE HELP.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
If you're uploading to a site via a web browser, the procedure is to use the File -> Export option and export the pics to the desktop. Then upload them from there. After the upload you can trash the pics on the desktop - they are only copies and the originals are safe in iphoto.
