Problems uploading book to iPhoto
last year I put together a photo book of our vacation and had some issues with iphoto uploading the book but finally got it worked out and was able to order the book. I haven't ordered anything since. This year I have been trying for 5 days to get the book to upload without success. the book will read that it is assembled but will get stuck on the upload at about 30%. I have read the forums from a couple of years ago and have tried what they said to get it to work with out any luck Has anyone else had the same issue but able to resolve it?
how can I tell which version of iphoto I have?
With iPhoto running go to the iPhoto menu and select About iPhoto.
Are you able to create a PDF file of the book according to this Apple document: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture

Problems uploading book for printing
Hi,
I am working on a slow connection speed overseas and have been getting continuously disconnected uploading my book to apple for printing in Canada. Does anyone know if it's possible to convert to .pdf and then upload? Or is there any other way to go about it? Thanks.Thanks. Looks like I'm going to have to poach a fast connection speed from somewhere. I contacted apple through the link provided above and they have said the only way to do it is to upload it through iPhoto. Not particularly helpful.
I'm in South Africa and the Apple store here uses a third party for printing (at outrageous cost!). I'm wanting mine printed in Canada for a gift, which would have been easy without this connection problem. I'm surprised I can't at least mail a disc to someone somehwhere or email a .pdf file... I'm going to ask just to be sure. They respond quickly to these queries, which is great.
Thank you all for your help. -
Set up book. The program then started the process. When it got to upload part it froze my computer. No progress on the progress bar. I have a cable modem and great upload and download speed. When I tried to exit program my iMac froze and wouldnt allow force quit. Nothing worked. I unpluged the computer and started all over--same result.
First create a PDF copy of the book as described in this Apple Document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it and proof the contents before ordering.
Save the PDF file to compare with the printed version when you receive it.
Next boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and order the book while in Safe Mode.
Are you ordering an XL sized book? iPhoto is know to have problems with that size. If you can't get the XL sized book ordered in Safe Mode you'll have to change the size Large. Here's how:
1 - Control-click on the book in the left hand pane and select Duplicate from the contextual menu.
2 - carefully check all text boxes and photos to make sure all is as you want it.
3 - create the PDF file before ordering.
4 - if unsuccessful boot into Safe Mode and continue as described above.

Problem buying book from iphoto
After having completed my book in iphoto, when i click to buy the book the connection to Apple store does not work.
How can thi be fixed?
R GosselinYou need at least iPhoto '09 (iPhoto v8.1).
see: Apple Photo Services: Product line details for books, cards, and calendars - Apple Support
The Apple Store does no longer sell this version. But you could try to buy an iLife '09 installer DVD from Amazon.
This version runs on your system, see: iPhoto 8.1.2 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL970?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US -
Problems uploading book iphoto
I have tried several times to order a book created in iPhoto. A 32 pages book. iPhoto hangs during upload, usually after 10-25% done. Does not react after several hours and can not be interupted except by killing the whole app.
Have you checked the PDF preview, if there are any problems? Photos that do not seem to render correctly? See: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If iPhoto can create a correct PDF preview, restart your Mac in Safe mode and order the book this way. That may help to prevent timeouts and hangs:

Problems Uploading Book from Aperture
I am trying to upload a book from Aperture. It takes quite a while and then it just gives me an error message - A Connection Could Not Be Established At This Time.
My Internet connection is fine so I wondered if this was a problem with Apple's servers - is anyone else seeing the same?
Thx
BrendanWorking now. Must have been a problem with Apple over the weekend.

Problem order book via iPhoto- files not found or corrupt
every year my wife builds a book of photos and orders it via Apple. Since last year we've upgraded to Yosemite and updated iPhoto.
shes spent hours and the book looks good- every time she clicks buy book it says a different photo either cannot be located or is corrupt!
any ideas?! She's devestated!Would trying to repair permissions for the photos help?
It will help, if it is a permissions problem, but there may be other problems.
We need to know, if the photos are missing or corrupted, or cannot be accessed because of permission errors.
Do you have a backup of the iPhoto library? If not, backup the Mac before proceeding.
To repair and rebuild open the iPhoto library with the First Aid tools:
Launch into the First Aid Tools by holding down the key combination option-command ⌥⌘ and double clicking the iPhoto Library icon to launch iPhoto on this library.
Keep the two buttons firmly held down, until you are seeing the First Aid panel.
Then select "Repair database".
If that does not fix it, try the other First Aid options as well. First repair Permissions, then rebuild. -

HT2481 Issue uploading book in iphoto
Hi guys.
Right I have seen hundreds of threads related to this issue but a quick rundown as I have tried everything.
Using an iMac running mountain lion 10.8 OS, we made a photo book in photo. The book assembles perfectly but once it starts uploading to apple it just stalls out.
The bank informed me that a payment had gone through but the upload bar just stalls. Left it for about 2 hours but no progress neither do i receive a notification that it has uploaded.
Please guys. Really need help with this.
Thanks in advanceThis is what Larry's referring to on the Store page:

Re: book upload fails
Nov 30, 2013 3:02 PM (in response to pablo123)
Just got off the phone with apple support. If the photo book completes the assembly process but fails during the upload process the problem is in their overloaded servers. They just started a free shipping promotion for the holidays which has increased the traffic dramatically. I bought a calendar a week ago and it went right through. I'm going to try again during less peak times.

How long should it take to upload pictures for iPhoto books
I have created a book for Christmas on iPhoto. The book is 100 pages. There are two steps to the process of sending in your order.
1. Assembly (which it assembled no problem, under 30 min)
2. Upload (it shows a bar and a blue line moves as it uploads)
I have been uploading for 2 days now and I am 1/4 of the way there. Now while I am waiting for it to upload I cannot do anything with my iPhoto pictures. Which is a problem since I take pictures for my school and I need to edit pictures by Tuesday.
It states under the "Uploading book to the store...." Note: Any interruption of the upload process will cancel your order.
I have enough memory that this should not be the problem. I have turned off every application, restarted my computer, checked for updates. Nothing helps. I have had to cancel this order 3 times now and restart the process as I needed to use iPhoto for school projects.
This should not take more than 2 days! What is going on? Any help would be wonderful. Thank you
Kara
OS X Yosemitie
Version 10.10.1
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 DuoTwo days is way too long for the upload, unless you are having a very slow Wi-Fi.
There may be a something interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store (Anti virus software, firewalls), or you have included unprintable items.
Is the PDF preview of your book correct? Make a review and check it carefully for missing items, see this help page:
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If the preview is alright, try to upload your book again in Safe Mode. That will disable non standard extensions, and prevent them from interfering with your connection to the Print Products Store:

Unable to upload book order in iPhoto 08 w/Leopard
My situation is similar to others I have seen on these boards, but since none of the possible solutions mentioned have worked for me, I thought I would post my problem and see if anyone can help.
I have a MacBook running Leopard 10.5.1 with iPhoto 7.1.1 (part of iLife '08), as well as an iMac G5 running Leopard 10.5.1 with a copy of iPhoto 6.0.6
I created a photo book on the MacBook with one of the new templates in iPhoto 7, made sure that no text or photo boxes were blank, hit Buy Book, typed in the coupon code "NAWinterBook08" to get the discount they are offering, and waited while the book was assembled. Once assembly was complete, the upload would begin and then hang either at 0 of 20.3MB or at 20.3MB of 20.3 MB uploaded. After a few seconds, an window would open stating "An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click retry to resend your file". No amount of resending would work, nor would using a wired network connection. I tried rebuilding the iPhoto library without success.
I went to the Genius bar at the local Apple store where they replicated the problem on their own wireless network, tried deleting the cache & plist files, replaced the iPhoto application with a copy from their own computers, tried using target disk mode to open my project on another computer, and finally suggested that I reinstall the iLife 08 suite. I came home, backed up my library, deleted iLife, the cache and plist files again, and reinstalled iLife 08. I copied over the iPhoto library that I saved, rebuilt it again, and still cannot order a photo book.
Next, I copied my project photos onto my iMac and used iPhoto 6 to create a new photo book. Two hours later it was ready to go, but had exactly the same problem as my MacBook. The same problem on two different computers running two different versions of iPhoto. Aaargh!
So now I am wondering if there is some network permissions/firewall/preferences issue with OS 10.5.1 that is preventing iPhoto from making a connection to the photo server at Apple. I have ordered photo books before without a problem, but this is the first time I have tried since upgrading from Tiger to Leopard. I would greatly appreciate your help!Chris:
I don't think it's the firewall but you can determine that by turning if off and trying to order the book.
Go to your account site online and reenter all of the information including the credit card number, expiration date, shipping address, etc. Then try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
I've created a Photo Book in iPhoto, it quits uploading halfway through.
I've spent many days creating a Photo Book using iPhoto and now I'm ready to order it! But twice now it quits halfway through the uploading process. How can I figure out what the problem is? I was really looking forward to see this project as a finished product.
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
How does this work

IPhoto book upload failed using iPhoto 9.4.3 and Mountain Lion
Hi
I have tried to upload iPhoto book several times but the upload failed. I have tried rebooting my iMac in Safe Mode but this results in iPhoto closing when I try to buy my book. I have uploaded books in the past using Snow Leopard with no issues.I hope this helps, thank you for taking an interest in this problem.
