Problems uploading photos in Safari with Mavericks

I have a 13" 2013 MacBook Air that I updated last night.
The update included Mavericks and a new version of Safari.
Now, I have major problems when trying to upload photos. Updating my Twitter avatar, for example. For whatever reason, the finder box opens, nothing shows and then it gets stuck and Finder crashes.
Each time this happens I have to force quit on Safari and start over. It always works the second time (if Finder isn't still stuck). It seems like I need a fresh browser instance for it to even work.
Anyone else experience the same or is it limited to me?

You probably have a corrupt .plist file. To fix:
1. Hold down the option key.
2. In the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Library
3. In Library, find Preferences
4. In Preferences, find com.apple.doc.plist and drag it to the trash
5. restart
6. you will have to reenter your preferences.
7. you also seem to have some problem with your keyboard- a lot of random letters appearing and not appearing when you type.

    Hello
I have problems uploading photos in Illustrator CS6.
I can not resize it free.
can someone help me there or tell me where I have to apply?

    Steve,
    I did say, and mean,
I rustier in German than Steve may be ~ I may be rustier in German than Steve.
inspired by the German word order, or the little green guy with the long ears, or something.
French is quite a bit further down my language list (limited to small bits), the main source of understanding/recognizing being the corresponding loan words in English.
At least some years ago I could read and understand all the half/full page German sentences effortlessly, but even then I was banned from helping our kids with any German homework.

  • Hello  how to remove Ads by CouponDropDown on safari with mavericks like extensions remains empty  thank you

    hello
how to remove Ads by CouponDropDown on safari with mavericks like extensions remains empty
    thank you

Since I do not use Safari, I had no idea that was an extension, but that person should not be calling that a virus as that is a bit over the top; besides, I have extensions turned on precisely because I want Adblock and WOT to run.
If that is an extension, then it was installed and can be uninstalled which would appear to be a good way to handle it.
    @bragon18:
I'm on my Mountain Lion machine and I do have extensions showing on the left:
(can't check on my Mavericks machine at the moment).

  • Problems uploading photos to ebay

As of 11/10/13 I am still unable to upload photos to ebay. I had been uploading for 2 years with no problems, until two weeks ago. I noticed it after I did a software update.  I called ebay and the customer service person said they have had some "technical problems" with uploading photos and they are working on it. They suggested I try another browser, I said I use Safari and am having no trouble with anything, other than uploading ebay photos. On 11/1/13 I received an email stating they were still working on technical problems. So...... that is what I know. I still have the problem and cannot upload to ebay. I suspect either it has to do with the software update I did on my computer, or ebay wasn't/isn't ready for this software upgrade. Something goofy happened to what was working fine for me. Any suggestions on this problem and how I can correct it on my end would be welcomed.

If you got an email telling you they are still working on it, they are still working on it.  Probably nothing you can do short of what she said which was use a different browser.

  • My dialogue box changed and now I can't upload photos using Safari, why?

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.5 and Safari 6.0.5. I've always used Safari with no issues. I'm a photographer so uploading photos is extremely important. I went to upload some photos today to different websites and my dialogue box looks very different. For a brief milisecond I see my old one then some new one. The new one won't let me access anything inside of the folders and places it shows me. To see if it was a browser issue I tried to upload photos to Twitter using my TweetDeck account and had no issues so it's definitely a browser issue. I have no downloaded any new apps or programs recently. PLEASE help ASAP! Thank you

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
     ▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
    Caches/com.apple.WebProcess
    Caches/Metadata/Safari
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have problems, continue.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Quit Safari again. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A folder should open. Delete the following items from the folder, if they exist:
    com.apple.Safari
    com.apple.WebProcess+com.apple.Safari
Quit Terminal. Close the folder. Launch Safari and test.
    Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work right, quit, go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (some may not exist):
    Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
    Internet Plug-Ins
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
    PubSub/Database
    Safari
(Note: you are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”)
Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
    File ▹ Import Bookmarks
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

  • IPhoto copies, Export problem, upload photos

HELP!!! I definitely need your expertise.
    Here is the background:
    - I wanted to upload photos onto Kodak Gallery through ofoto Express. Since Ofoto can upload pictures from iPhoto, so i went to organize my photos there.
    - I created a new folder (let's call it "F1" ) in iPhoto and then I put new pictures into "F1" from a photo CD, then I manually re-arranged the photo order "F1".
Then here comes all the troubles:
    1) Can I resize all the photos in this "F1" album all the once? If so, how do I do that?
    2) When I put pictures into this "F1" , I notice the Library, film roll and 2005 also have a copy of my photos except they are all out of order, why is that?
    3) Can I just keep one copy of "F1" without having so many duplicated copies elsewhere such as under the YEAR or keywords?
    4) Are there good and faster way to upload all 300 full size photos?
    5) From the album "F1" I created, I tried to do EXPORT all the photos too, but all the photos that was exported were out of order and not in the right orientation, what can I do and what is the function of this Export then?
    6) How come the Duplicate photo function in iPhoto only put the copy right next to the original? Can I have a seperate duplicated folder? When I made duplicate, I found that the library also have the duplication and once I deleted one copy out of two, it deleted the original image in my "F1" album. I don't understand.
    7) How come I cannot just make a "copy" of "F1" album to my desktop?
PLEASE HELP, I am so lost!!! Am I the only one that has this problem?
    Thanks,
    MC

Hi Michelle, I will try to answer some of your questions...
Then here comes all the troubles:
    1) Can I resize all the photos in this "F1" album all the once? If so, how do I do that?
You resize the photo when they are exported, not while they are within iPhoto.
    2) When I put pictures into this "F1" , I notice the Library, film roll and 2005 also have a copy of my photos except they are all out of order, why is that?
I don't know about the out of order part, but it could be that the album you made you manually moved the images where you wanted them. In the library, roll, and year view, the View is set globally by what you chose under the View menu
    3) Can I just keep one copy of "F1" without having so many duplicated copies elsewhere such as under the YEAR or keywords?
Those aren't duplicates, they are just like an alias or a plcaehold for the real image
    4) Are there good and faster way to upload all 300 full size photos?
Not really, it all depends on your connection speed. That amount of images will take a long long time
    5) From the album "F1" I created, I tried to do EXPORT all the photos too, but all the photos that was exported were out of order and not in the right orientation, what can I do and what is the function of this Export then?
This has been a problem for many people including me. There have been work arounds listed here on the discussions by Old Toad. You must rename the images with numbers either within iPhoto as a batch change or when you export them, use the album name as a naming scheme and the images will be numbered. This order may or maynot be what you expected though. Like I said working with so many images is going to be very confusing. I will have to try and find Old Toad's solution for you.
Are you uploading these images to put in an online album or for prints. You know you can also manage them on the online album, rearranging order, naming, etc. These online places also limit the number of images for each album.
    6) How come the Duplicate photo function in iPhoto only put the copy right next to the original?
So you can find it easily
Can I have a seperate duplicated folder?
yes, make an album and put the duplicates in that album
When I made duplicate, I found that the library also have the duplication and once I deleted one copy out of two, it deleted the original image in my "F1" album. I don't understand.
If you made the duplicate in an Album it will be reflected in the library.
If you delete an image from the library it will be deleted from the album too as the library is the place where all the images are kept. The albums only have place holders. If you want to work on a group of images and want the edits and names etc. to be different than the ones in the library, duplicate all the images in the library first. Make an album and move only the duplicates to the album. Now you can make your images B&W, sepia, edit, crop, etc. and all these edits will be reflected on the duplicates and not the originals n the library.
    7) How come I cannot just make a "copy" of "F1" album to my desktop?
You can, but it will take some work to get it exported in the order you want. I will have to do some experimenting to see

  • Problems uploading photos

Hi, Hope this is in the right place.
I'm trying to upload photos into facebook from my iMac. I've clicked on the upload to facebook icon in iphoto but just get an error message saying 'error occurred with iPhoto - try again later. I've also had problems lately when I click on a photo to open it I just get a grey screen with an exclamation mark. I've downloaded the latest software but nothing seems to work.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks hopefully,
    Karen

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • Problems uploading photos w/leopard....

I upgraded to max ram on my 4 year old emac and Leopard 10.5 installed successfully and quickly. I had no problem with losing files or photos that I know of. But I have not been able to upload photos to ebay, or been able to attach photos or files to outgoing email. I read in apple discussions that I should upgrade from iphoto to ilife. I bought the software and installed it. Seems to work as described, only I still can't upload photos or files to the internet. Please help me, boo hoo hoo...

I'm not sure how to link to the iphoto threadposts that helped me solve this. My upload problem is fixed. I had to resize my pic files because they were way too big. Thanks Old Toad!

  • I am having problems uploading photos to facebook, tumblr, etc.

when i go to upload the photos, certain photos are not able to be uploaded.  it says that they are not the correct format.  i played around a little bit on iPhoto to see if i could locate the problem, and i found a little bit of information.  i figured this out after clicking the "show photo information" button for the problem photos.  when i "revert to original," the photo is shown to have a size (2.7 MB, for example) but as soon as i edit the photo in any way (enhance, crop, rotate, effects, ANYTHING) the size of the photo changes to a dash.  at this point, the photo cannot be uploaded.  what is going on? another user posted a similar questions earlier, and restarting the computer and iphoto worked for that user.  i have tried this, however, with no results. PLEASE help, i am in mexico, publishing a travel blog, so being unable to upload photos is a huge hassle for me.

What happens when you export one of these problem photos?
What happens when you select the photo and right click and show file (original file too if available)

  • HI, i'm having problem uploading photo's

Hi, I'm having problem's opening & uploading photo's from IPhoto. Please can any one advise me how to correct this problem.
    Many Thanks
    Davina

You're really going to have to give us some more information before we can help you.
Opening iPhoto? How are you trying? What happens?
    Uploading to where?
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
