Problems uploading via FTP

For some reason the banner for my site won't show on the live
page and when I view source it shows that it is located on my PC
and hasn't been uploaded. However on Dreamweaver the HTML is
correct and it is visible in the FTP files, so I'm not sure where
it's all going wrong...Could someone possibly explain to me the
steps I need to take to make sure an image and indeed a page itself
are uploaded properly onto FTP with DW8??
Many thanks in advance,
Ally

Would the name of this image have the word banner in it? Do
you run
Nortons' on your pc?
If so, then it may be being stripped due to Nortons'
blocking.
Do you see the the image name on the Remote site? If so, then
it has been
uploaded, but the above could be happening.
Can you post a link to you page, so that people can confirm
whether the
image is actually there... or if there could be another
problem ??

  • Problems uploading via FTP-host

I have very often (most of the time actually) problems uploading a website via the FTP-host. Changes I made are often not uploaded etc. Is this a common problem or am I the only one?

Please provide more details as what exactly is not updating while ftp upload process , is it any text , image etc ? does this happens with a specific page or any page ? The changes should get update once you upload the files to same location , unless there is any sync issue with server.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • How To Upload Via FTP In Safari?

How do you upload via FTP in Safari? I can't find ANYTHING in the Safari Help pages about FTP. No mention of it whatsoever. Yet, I know it can be done.
I entered my own FTP address into the Address Bar and typed in my username and password. I successfully "logged in" to my own webspace. I could see all my files and folders. However, I could neither upload/add or delete any files. Why is this?
I used to be able to do this in Internet Explorer on a PC with no problems. Why can't Safari and a Mac do it?

I don't believe you can use Safari for the FTP upload function. This is done via the Finder.
In the Finder: Go menu>Connect to Server or "Apple Key + K":
Enter the FTP address in the browser window (click on the + sign to retain the address) and select "connect" . Once the connection is made, the Server will appear in the Finder Window on the left sidebar. You can drag/drop files to this location, or drag/drop from this location to your Finder.
If you need something more sophisticated, a Google Search under "FTP Mac Intel" might prove helpful.

  • Muse CC 2014 hangs when uploading via FTP

Uploading via FTP to GoDaddy hangs Muse cc 2014.
I've tried numerous times and progress bar never gets passed 90%....then I hacve to force quit application.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Problem seems to be with CC 2014 version.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What does the status message say? Does it always hang while uploading/deleting a specific file?
Are you on Windows or Mac?
Would it be possible for you to try an external FTP client as outlined here: Adobe Muse Help | Uploading an Adobe Muse Site to a third-party hosting service
I am not necessarily recommending that as a workaround, but it would help to understand if the issue is specific to Muse.
    Thanks

    Hello.
Today I got the opportunity to work with a Muse user with the same issue after performing the troubleshooting steps in the post above we decided to contact the host.
Later i came to know that host took Muse user's IP and they were able to unblock it and muse started connecting to FTP host.
I another scenario Host suggested Muse user to add :21 to the FTP address and then Muse was able to connect.
    Eg    ftp.domain.com:21
Please try the 2 suggestion above and let me know if it works.

  • I have updated my website, and uploaded via FTP, but some images are missing.  I have deleted them in i

I have published a website with iWeb on MobileMe quite successfully.  I purchased a second domain name, and republished the same site on GoDaddy before trying to point my MobileMe website name to the GoDaddy server. I was unable to upload several pictures to the second site, and posted my dilemma here.  It was suggested that I try using Cyberduck to publish via FTP, which I did.  I was still missing the same images. The error message says that there was a communications error with the FTP server and to try again later.  I have been able to upload several more new images to the second domain name just by using iWeb's publish feature.
I want to point my MobileMe website name, www.melissaveres.com to GoDaddy, which is now hosting www.mveres-engraver.com but it will only show the site as it is currently published, with several missing pictures.  I have tried to delete the photos in iWeb, bring them back in, and republish but with the same results.  I have contacted GoDaddy support, who can only tell me there is no file information for those open (missing) pictures, they have heard of this happening before, but had no information on how or if it was resolved.  Anyone know how to get these pictures up before I move from MobileMe?
    Melissa

Bring up the Activity window (Command+Option+A) for you site and check to see what files are missing and where they belong.  The URL for the missing files will tell  you what folder they should be in.
Then publish you website to a folder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser.  Check to verify all images and present and the site works as you want.  Then you can upload the missing files or folder containing the missing files or the eintire site folder to your GoDaddy account with Cyberduck.

  • Problem uploading by FTP

I have two sites, both of which are created in iWeb and uploaded by FTP to sites hosted by Yahoo Small Business. My wife's site uploads without difficulty, but everytime I try to upload mine I get a message about problem communicating with the server, even though all the information seems to be correct (the same as my wife's except for the specifics). I think it may be due to technicalities of file naming, but I haven't been able to pin it down. Neither site has anything more complicated than photos. Anyone have any thoughts?

I think it may be due to technicalities of file naming
Things in file names that can cause problem with some servers are spaces, capital letters, punctuation, non-English letters, etc. Yahoo should have a list somewhere.

  • Upload via FTP with JSP

I have an httpdocs folder and I want to update files to this folder via ftp from my jsp pages, anyone has some class or Bean that would do the trick?
    Regards

I have a bean, FTPBean (and a mating FTPException class) that will work for you. It's got Javadoc comments so it should be pretty easy to figure out.
This code is OLD (I mean like 10 years old) and is based on another older piece of code (I believe it was named Linlyn or something like that) that was floating around for YEARS.
There's quite a bit of code so pasting here probably isn't a real good idea. I've gone ahead and placed a ZIP file with the two classes in it at http://www.lamatek.com/documents/FTP.zip. They're packaged in a net.foamtapes.beans package, feel free to do whatever with them, repackage, modify, whatever.

  • Uploading via ftp

I created my site via iweb, published the site to a folder, and uploaded the site with cyberduck ftp. Up and running in no time. This is amazing. I want to point out that uploading the folder of the site created problems. I instead uploded the contents of the folder. I agree with others that features are limited and themes are few, but overall a good start. For me personally more themes are needed. Most of the sites I have seen created with iweb look too similar.

If I uploaded the folder I was denied access when I
tried to view the site online. The folder was labeled
with my site name. The index file and all related
    files were within the folder.
There can be many index.html files. Your problem was probably caused by the fact that you uploaded the folder but not the index.html which iWeb always publishes outside the folder with the site name. Without that a browser often can't find the folder. If not that, it could be that you need to fix permissions on the folder.
But normally the best way to upload is the entire folder plus the index.html that is published parallel (not inside) to it.

  • Problem Upload to FTP host...

    Hi
    can you help me
I have a web site content many Assets link (pdf files like 10 mo each)
and when i want to upload to my FTP host,
it's very very long to accomplish this part
i must Cancel and proceed with Export as html
    to transfert all
i'm sad because it's very fast when i don't have asset in a web site.
Any idea why it doesn't work well with assets ?
have you the same problems ?
    thanks to help me
sorry for my bad english, i'm french canadian

You might be having the same slow upload problem that I am. Zak told me that it is a nasty bug. The fix is in the private beta you can apply for by clicking on Help, then Adobe Muse Private Beta. It will take you through the steps to get added to the beta users list. You're supposed to receive an email with download instructions but it takes them a couple of days (or more) to send the email.

  • Best way to upload via FTP

Is there a way to upload my iWeb files to my web server so that ALL the files don't need to be uploaded each time I publish?
I'm publishing a podcast with large mp3 files. I don't want to have to upload those files each time. What settings should I use in Cyberduck? Will "Synchronize" accomplish that?
    Any advice would be helpful.

I use scp and rsync - two command line tools. SCP is like FTP, only it doesn't send your password in the clear for anyone to see. Rsync will figure out for you exactly what files have changed and send only the changed files.
If you web server is a linux or mac box, then you're in luck - this should work no problems. If you're publishing to a Windows box, then look for a different web hosting company.
Anyhow, this is how I publish:
    1) open the Terminal (I know, un-mac like, but it's just one line you have to type, and for me, it's always just an up-arrow key away)
    2) rsync -vr ~/Sites/yoursite/ [email protected]:~/public_html
A little explaination for step two:
rsync is the command. -v makes it verbose, r makes it recursive (handles a directory).
~/Sites/yoursite - this is the directory you want to publish. It's the directory you chose when you chose "publish to a folder".
[email protected] - your.server.com is your server, what you normally would FTP to, and user is your username you would use to connect with.
: - this separates the user information from the target directory
~/public_html - This is the directory that gets served up, e.g. Sites on a Mac.
Rsync is great - it can figure out if a file is new or changed and only send over files that fall into one of those two categories.
Let me know if you have any problems using this.

  • Uploading via ftp (filezilla)

    hello,
never had an issue using ftp for my website before, but today i can not upload at all. i can download at will though.
have tried on 2 different computers using 2 didfferent ftp programs.
all i get is the error 550 message in wsftp.
i know for a fact i'm logged in correctly and all settings are good.
    is ftp down?
    thank you

Moving is not the same as copying. When a file is moved first it is copied then the source file is deleted. However, if you move a file from one folder to another on the same hard drive, then the file is simply moved to the new location.
If you move or copy a file from one drive to another and a file of the same name exists on the target, then the file on the target will be overwritten. You cannot recover an overwritten file.
