Problems using 1080/50p video files in Premiere CS5 to Encore onto Blu-ray

Firstly apologies if this has been covered, I've searched various forums but not found anything on 1080/50p.
I have a Panasonic HDC-TM700 video camera which I only had for a week or so before I went on a weeks holiday in Egypt, so I thought I'd record my memories in the superb 1080/50p mode.
Upon returning I am now editing my work in Premiere CS5, the resulting video is very jerky (it plays back OK on the camera), rendering a sample in Encore I discover Blu-ray doesn't support 1080/50p so I tried the HDTV 1080i 25 setting, on the resulting Blu-ray the panning scenes are not smooth viewing and the video is still rather jerky.
Should I have recorded the footage in 1080 interlaced instead?
Does anybody know if I can salvage my memories?
Hoping you can help
Regards
Kevin

I have the same camera, only it's NTSC so 1080p60. What I do for now, until there is wider acceptance for this format, is that I export to 720p60. I know I may sound like a party pooper but I prefer progressive before interlaced...  I am sure there will be support for 1080p50 or 1080p60 in the near future, so your memories will not be lost!
Some Bluray players do support 1080p60/50, but not from a disc but an SD card instead. If that's an option for you, go with that!
Here's the player I use which plays back 1080p60 beautifully from SD, I'm sure there is an equivalent player for PAL:

  • Can't import .mxf video files in Premiere CS5

    Hi all!
I've just installed Premiere CS5 and imported some .mxf files to a project. But premiere just recognizes the audio tracks, it don't recognizes the video one.. it's like it was a simple audio file.. and i can see the video outside premiere.. anyone knows why is this happening?
With cs4 i never had this problem.
    Thanks in advance!

Assuming you're not using the trial version :
if you can't import XDCAM EX files using the Media Browser, which will only import what Premiere needs, then there is something wrong with your installation.
PPro CS5.02 woks with all flavors of XDCAM EX files including those from the 350/320 cameras.

  • How do I compress a mpeg2 video file in Premiere CS5.5?

    Hi there,
I need to compress a mpeg2 video file from a little over 4GB to be less than 2GB in Premiere CS 5.5, is this possible using media encoder?
If so, what are the steps?
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you can tell us your intentions it will be easier to suggest a solution. What is the intended purpose of this new file? If for computer viewing, then outputting at 720x480 might be an issue since most players are going to show that file as 4:3 rather than the intended 16:9, since it would be "anamorphic widescreen".
You might need to export at 854x480 using square pixels (1.0 PAR) to get proper display on playback. But again, tell us your goals and we can narrow the suggestions

  • Some problems to import AFX CS6 file into PREMIERE CS5

Hi and thank you for your help
My problem after an update from AFX CS5 to AFX CS6:
I work with Premiere CS5. I arranged some clips X, Y, and Z. Now I would like to transform clip Y into an AFX compositon. I have PREMIERE CS5, AFX CS5 and AFX CS6. If I click "transform into AFX composition" AFX CS6 will open. Now I could do my work in AFX CS6 but when I'm finished and go back to PREMIERE. PREMIERE CS5 wont work with this new AFX CS6 file. It appears an empty dialog box with COMPOSITION but there is no COMPOSITION I can select.
    My question:
I work with PREMIERE CS5 how can I change the AFX version from CS6 back to CS5 ?
    Thank you very much folks!!

Just to clarify... you are asking how to change the dynamic link out of Premiere so it opens AFX CS5 instead of AFX CS6, correct?
Sorry to say I do not have an answer to that. But if you are working with just one clip ("Y" in your example) then you could begin a new AFX CS5 project (through the normal AFX open process), import that one clip, do your thing, save it, and then import the AFX CS5 project into Premiere CS5. Not as elegant as what you hoped for, so hopefully someone can answer your original question.

  • Problems using FPT-AG02G 3D Glasses with a 40TL968B TV and BDX4350 Blu ray

    Hi,
I've just set up a new 40TL968B Tv and BDX4350 player.
I decided to invest in a couple of pairs of the FPT-AG02G glasses.
When trying to view a 3D disk I am having an issue where the shutter affect on the glasses keeps on cutting out.
This is happening on both pairs of the glasses and they have both had a full charge using the USB cable supplied.
When I switch them on the light flashes every few seconds and if I go up close to the TV the 3D effect begins on the glasses. This will then continue for maybe 5 to 10 seconds, where the shutters function and the picture appears is in 3D, before stopping and I am left looking at the blurred image from the TV again.
If I then move so the glasses are very close to the IR output from the TV then the shutter affect might begin but stop after period again.
The IR transmitter from the TV is not blocked by anything and niether is the reciever on the glasses.
Has anyone experienced this before or have any ideas how to overcome the problem?
    Many thanks, Ian.

I think you should check if the 3D glasses battery power is OK.

Good Morning.  I'm having a problem using both my Photoshop elements and premiere programs.  I've installed the programs, redeemed my code and entered the serial numbers, and created the adobe log-in.  I am able to open up the organizer without problems, but when I try to open up the photo editor (either by trying to open up the program from the main menu, or right-clicking on a photo in the organizer to edit in elements), the program asks me to sign in to adobe (which I can do and it doesn't give an an "incorrect password" or log-in ID error) then accept the terms and conditions.  When I click to accept the terms and conditions, nothing happens and the editor fails to open.  Everytime I click on the program, I get this same "loop" of signing in and accepting T&C's, but the program fails to open.  Any advice?

Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

  • How do I import mp4 video files into Premiere Pro Cs4

For sometime now, I've been finding it practically impossible to import video files into premiere Pro cs4 especially mp4 files which happens to be the commonest to me now, as I currently shoot with a Nokia Lumia 920 phone with Windows phone 8 OS. I have tried severally to convert the videos into various other formats using Xilisoft video converter version 7.7.2 and each time I do this, they would either not play fine in cs4 or not import at all.
Please what can I do to be able to import these mp4 files into Cs4 or what format or how do I convert them into a format that would play seamlessly for better editing?
Funny enough, I had once imported video files that were shot with the same phone and they worked well, just wondering why they aren't now.
Please any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    NKC

I'm happy to announce to you all that my "mp4 importing" issues has been sorted out. Now I import mp4 shot with the same Windows Phone 8 Device into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Only that for the moment, it doesn't play as fast as with ordinary player.
    But how did I get it to work, you may wonder;
I simply installed Itunes on the system, I also installed an app called media monkey. I can't say which of the apps did the magic but the next time I tried to import mp4 files into Premiere Pro after these installations, it imported seamlessly.
Obviously there's a link between the required codecs and the itunes itself.
You may want to try it and hope it works for you.
Kindly inform us if it works.
    Thank you all.
    Cheers.

  • Problem Uploading and Sharing Video Files

I just uploaded a 3.3GB h.264 Quicktime movie to Creative Cloud. It took many hours. Now that it's finished uploading, I can't figure out how to play the video while logged into Creative Cloud, despite that fact that under information it's recognized as a mov and 3.3GB. And when I try to share using the link-in-email option, my friend can't play the movie or download it. When he tries to download it, nothing connects. Creative Cloud seems to be treating this movie as a single still image or something. Suggestions as to how to solve these upload and share video problems? I have a 2011 MacBook Pro with all possible upgrades, Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. Any help here much appreciated. One of the reasons I signed on for a year with Creative Cloud was to utilize this 20GB to share video in the way I've done through Dropbox.

Thanks for the reply, Dave, but I don't think this is the problem. I've uploaded this h.264 Quicktime (which plays fine before uploading) a few times now and cannot download or share due to a very long period of "Connecting...", then the message "Problem loading page. The connection was reset. The conection to the server was reset while the page was loading. - The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. - If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. - If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web." Then I'm given the option to "try again". This or a similar message is what others get when trying to download when I try to share the file with them using the link-in-email method, and neither I nor any of those I try to share this with are having problems with internet connectiions or downloading other large video files from the internet. The reason I suspect that Creative Cloud can't deal with downloading larger files such as this 3.3GB Quicktime is that I have no problem uploading, downloading or sharing small Quicktime movies through CC, and they are identified the same way and look the same when uploaded to CC. I also have no problem downloading much larger video files from other sites on the internet, such as feature length films that are a lot larger than 3.3GB. It seems like only things that download quickly don't time-out, regardless of what browser I'm using. Does Creative Cloud's download system rely on files being able to be downloaded quickly in full before a browser's time-out? As I've mentioned before, I have no problem uploading, downloading, sharing, etc. using Dropbox. Long explanation here, I know, but I thought all this info might help in figuring things out. Any ideas as to what's going on?

  • Problem with RTPExport output video files

Hi, I have a problem with RTPExport output video files. One side streams H263/RTP(AVTransmit2.java) and other write this steam to a file by RTPExport.java. When network conditions are ideal, output video file has same fps and same number of frames like original file. Problem occures, when theres packet lost in network, then output file has different fps,and also has less frames like original video(because it didnt write missing frames to file, and thats why it get shorter). Pls how can I achieve output file that will have the same fps like original one? How to write to file an identical copy of what I can see while receiveing video with AVReceive2.java? Its there a way to modifi rtpexport or avreceiver to do this? Thanks a lot!

Problem occures, when theres packet lost in network, then output file has different fps,and also has less frames like original video(because it didnt write missing frames to file, and thats why it get shorter). Okay, first off, the second file is smaller on purpose. RTP intentionally drops packets that are old/out of order in order to make sure real-time video stays as close to real time as it can. This is by design, so there's really nothing that can be done about it.
How to write to file an identical copy of what I can see while receiveing video with AVReceive2.java? Technically speaking, what you're getting in the RTPExport is exactly what you got on the receiving end. Any frames that are dropped during transmission will not be seen by the receiver, nor saved by the receiver.
Pls how can I achieve output file that will have the same fps like original one? I'm not 100% sure that you can, but, you can give the following idea a try. I make no guarentees that it'll work, but it should work for you...
That example is an example of a "custom transport layer" for RTP connections. Essentially, it's some code that's handed the RTP packets on the transmission end, and it's expected to deliver those RTP packets on the other end. And it doesn't care about how they get from A to B, only that they do.
If you were to replace the UDP socket in that example with a TCP socket, you would be guarenteed not to drop packets due to network reasons. Every RTP packet you were handed by the transmitter, you would then hand to the receiver. There is no guarentee that none of the packets would be cast away as "old" by the RTP protocol itself, but there's also no guarentee any of them would be. It's a crap-shoot at best, but it's certainly worth a try.

  • Problems using CFFile to move files

Hi there - I am having some problems using CFFile to move
files from one directory to another. It only seems to only move
some of the files in the group that I choose to move over, and
there is nothing specific about which files are moved - different
files are moved each time. There are no error messages that are
showing up, so I am totally baffled. Has anyone else experienced
this or does anyone else have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Any help would be much appreciated!! My code is below.

First, an incidental matter. I don't think there's any need
for so many try-catch tags. I would expect all the tags <cffile
action="move"> to throw the same class of exception, and so
would use one try-catch for them all. Even if you expect different
exceptions to be thrown, one cftry tag might still be sufficient,
    if implemented as follows
    <cftry>
    <!--- code block 1 --->
    <!--- code block 2 --->
    <!--- ... etc... --->
    <cfcatch type="exceptionType1"></cfcatch>
    <cfcatch type="exceptionType2"></cfcatch>
    <!--- ... etc... --->
    </cftry>
I suspect the cause of the problems lies in the dynamic
values that you give the attributes. Perhaps incorrect values are
passed for the source and/or destination values in certain
circumstances. As A3gis has said, if that were to happen you
probably wouldn't notice, because of the try-catches. Find a way to
ensure that all the generated values for source and destination are
    correct.

  • .MOD files in Premiere CS5

I am trying to import .MOD files into Premiere CS5, with no joy.
If I change the file extension to .MPG, Premiere can import the video, but no audio.
Can anyone advise on how I can import .MOD files successfully, with both video and audio?
    Many thanks

Oh boy, JVCs ill fated .mod file extension. I hate this thing. Hate it. It's next to impossible to do anything with. When i first got a JVC tapeless cam in 2004 it ran this extension. All I used with it was the pack in software that worked fine. Well over the years I started using more advanced cams and more advanced software. A year ago I wanted to go back to that old cam and use some old footage for a DVD project, in PrPro cs4. It was a nightmare. I finally, FINALLY, found the answer after using several NLEs, converters, and such to get it to work in adobe. So here's what I found:
from my experience, basically all interactions with JVC tapeless media has left little to be desired. i have done many dvds in .mod format because i had gotten the very first JVC tapeless cam in 2004ish. the .mod files are.... almost imposible to work with, outside of using cyberlink. i tried sony. i tried adobe. i tried FCP and all results... were dismal. (i was filming in 16x9 the rograms that DID read .mod, which was Vegas, would not accurately flag the footage as Widescreen) the ONLY way i could get the widescreen footage to show up as widescreen other than using cyberlink software was to use
    http://www.cyberlink.com/products/mediaespresso/overview_en_US.html
and convert to a straight up no strings .mpg2 file. then it worked in the other NLEs. So basically the only way I could successfully import and edit a .mod file with premierepro was to use that converter.

  • Editing AVCHD files in Premiere CS5 – juddery movement

    Hi all,
Just got a Panasonic HDC-TM900 camcorder – it shoots 1080p @ 50fps (PAL). The format is “.mts”, with AVCHD compression.
Anyway, the issue I have is that when I import the files into Premiere CS5 to edit (Premiere says it supports the native files) – whenever the camera moving, the movement is very jerky, and also blurry during a pan. But when I play back the clip on the camcorder itself, or directly out of it via HDMI, it’s crystal clear with perfect movement.
Firstly – I am making a composition that matches the clip settings.
Secondly - my machine is very fast & can handle the files, so it’s not a processing issue.
And thirdly, they still judder when rendered (as H.264) – so it’s not just an “un-rendered media” issue.
Any Googling I’ve done seems to bring up similar issues with editing AVCHD files, but no solid solution yet. People are saying that I should transcode the files before importing into CS5 (but with no consensus on the format or software to use), and there is also a general consensus that AVCHD is a great playback format, but not the best for editing.
And what’s also odd is that the Panasonic website seems to offer the EXACT software that would seem to fix my issue, but when I click the link it’s not there!
    See here: http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/avchd-home.asp
Scroll down to “Software” and it says “AVCHD to P2 DVCPRO HD Transcoder” – editing P2 files would be ideal, as I’ve done this before off a P2 camera - but when I click the link, it brings me to a page with all sorts of software & utilities, but I can’t even find the words “AVCHD” or “DVCPRO” it mentioned on that download page!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    KP.

    Hi John - it doesn't have a 1080i setting.
Here is a link to a file I shot on this camera - I imported it into CS5, made a new sequence to match eth footage (i.e. dragged it onto the "New Item" icon) and re-encoded the AVCHD file to a H.264 "Vimeo HD" preset in CS5.
It's blurry, juddery, horrible footage during any sort of movement!
    http://www.maxtronmedia.com/grove/panasonic.mp4
Yet, on the camera's own LCD (and on a TV through the camera's HDMI output), this footage looks immaculate. And yes, I tried capturing footage through the HDMI cable into my Matrox Mini and it's interlaced all over the place & pretty-much un-usable.
    Suggestions?
I just printed an Amazon returns label, so I'm probably going to send the camera back... now I just need to hope the box is still in my green bin! :/

  • Importing Video Files from DVD and the net onto final cut express 4

    2 questions:
1st: Ive imported a video file downloaded from the net to practice editing, but once I have done that, the video file has no audio? how do I get the audio for those files?
2nd: I had ripped some video files from my university film project onto my laptop, but I cant Import the files into final cut express to further edit it (because it was a group project), because its the wrong format and stuff. How do I fix this and allow it to be imported?
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Cheers

ohk cool, wat about my first problem with the sound not being imported?
Most likely the file is multiplexed. That means the audio and video are rolled into one. Same thing applies as the other post, the file needs to be in a format that FCE recognizes. Streamclip may do it, depending on the type of file of course.
