Problems using Apple Component AV cable

I can not seem to use the Apple AV component cable to watch videos from my iPhone onto my Samsung TV.
I have made all the right connections between the iPhone and TV, I believe. However, i was not able to watch any of my iPhone videos on my TV yet. The AV cable's Manual does mention to set "to send your ipod or iphone to send a video signal out to your TV" - which I do not know how to do on my iphone. I have not seen any "TV Out" setting on my iphone.
Can anyone help? I have bought the AV cable from an Apple store, and I thought I would be able to use it fairly easily.

Just plug the cable into the dock connector on the iPhone and the other end into your TV (making sure the right colours go with the right colours ) and check in Settings>iPod that widescreen is either on/off and that the correct TV Signal option is selected PAL/NTSC then change the TV's input to whatever the signal input should be (Component 2 on my TV) and voila you play movie it shows on TV (hopefully) it should really be plug and play tough it's worth checking you have the right cable for the job Component/Composite

  • IPod Touch 2nd Gen Video Out Problem with Apple Component Cable

I'm trying to get video out working with my iPod touch connected to my TV. Here's the information.
32 GB iPod Touch 2nd Gen
    Apple Universal Dock (current version.)
Apple Component Out cable for iPod (current version that connects with a dock connector.
I've connected the component cables into the component video input on my TV. When I start playing any video (purchased off iTunes store in Standard Def,) I get a scrambled picture that appears to be the video, and no sound. I purchased the TV in South Korea and haven't gotten to test it yet on a TV back in the US. I have my video out settings with wide screen turned off and set to NTSC (South Korea uses NTSC.) I've also tried every setting combination, and switching the cable connections with the same or similar results. Sorry if a similar problem has been posted elsewhere, but after searching, I couldn't find any similar behavior. Any ideas on what might be the cause? I don't have any other component devices to check if the component on the TV is bad.

I've got that same problem: iPod Touch 2nd Gen, Apple Component Cables, and an HD TV.
The funny thing is, the cable works fine with an iPod Classic (160 GB) but not for the iPod Touch. Can anyone explain why that is?

  • Connecting iPOD classic to TV using Apple Component cable

I have a 80g ipod classic and an apple component AV cable. I am trying to connect this to an TV with component video inputs. This TV is not an HDTV. I have attached the bl gr r cables in the correct position. I am getting a scrambled picture for NTSC and a split picture for PAL. based on my location I am sure that I should be using NTSC.
I brought my iPOD into a local apple store and he was able to plug it in to an HDTV there with no problem so I'm pretty sure that niether the ipod or the cable is defective.
    My question is:
Is the ipod classic only compatible with an HDTV using the component cable? If so, will it work using the composite cable?

The dock is only good so you can use the remote. I don't know what the problem is with your Standard TV's with Component Inputs ... I've tried two different ones, also different brands, and they worked. I did make sure to change the iPod Video Settings to "TV Size = Standard". If it's set to Widescreen, that may account for the problem.
Otherwise, I'd suggest returning the Component cables and getting the Composite ones ... or just get the Composite ones as well. Personally, I think Apple totally screwed us all over by not just adding ONE dang Composite Video out cable to the AV Cables and allowing the Component Out to have a HD/Standard switch, much like most of the Game Console AV cables available. I don't know why they didn't do this, especially since we've got about 2 years before EVERYONE starts upgrading to HD. I guess they're just hoping to rake in some extra money by not making the Component AV Cable more capable.

  • Does the iPod Universal Dock work with the Apple Component AV Cable?

I have the iPod Universal Dock (MA045G/A) and the Apple Component AV Cable (MB128LL/B)...the ones in the original black packaging.
I had wanted to connect either my Nano 3G or my iTouch 1G to my TV, but neither would work through the docking station with the AV cable. Both did work when I tried not using the dock and connected both the Nano and the iTouch directly into the AV Cable.
My dock works great on my Computer, and I tried a second dock (same model) that I had into the TV with the AV cable and it still did not see the connection.
Is my particular iPod Universal Dock NOT COMPATIBLE with this Apple Component AV Cable (or for that matter, the Composite AV Cable-MB129LL/B)?
It's not a big deal since both do work with the AV cable by itself...it's just annoying I can't use the dock...

Are you sure it is genuine Apple cable? If you bought it on eBay or non-authorized Apple dealer it probably isn't. If it is a genuine cable, it is defective, and should be returned.
When a working genuine Apple A/V cable is plugged into iPhone, a popup appears asking if you want to enable the TV output. Since you are not getting this popup, your cable is bad.

  • Having trouble streaming hulu, from Ipod Touch, to my TV, using Apple A/V cable

  • What apps will work with the Apple Component Video cables ?????

I plan to order the Apple Component Video cables so I can watch the Netflix apps movies on my TV.
I know this app works with the cables but what else does?
The few apps I know of are:
    Netflix
    YouTube
    included video app
    but what else ?

Thanks. I did order it and it arrived yesterday. I have not done a lot but watched a couple things
with the Netflix app and I am very pleased.
The cable is only about 6 feet so I had to extend it but other than that I am pleased. Luckily, I already
had a 10' cable in the basement with connectors so now I can have my iPad where it usually is and
    control things more easily.
A few more apps that work with it would be nice though. :>

  • TS1409 What if I don't have the Apple Component AV Cable or Apple Composite AV Cable to connect my iPod to? Do I have to buy one to watch videos on my iPod?

What if I don't have the Apple Component AV Cable or Apple Composite AV Cable to connect my iPod to? Do I have to buy one to watch videos on my iPod?

    Hi there,
I am assuming you have an ipod nano 6th gen (the small one with a touch screen)
unfortunately, the ipod nano 6 gen can not play videos whatsoever unless you hack it so even with a cable it does not work.
I hope this helps cus im new
(if other generation ipod nano, just reply and i will help again )

  • IPhone 3G / Apple Component AV Cable / iTunes DRM Movies

    Hello.
Can't seem to find a definite answer to this online. Would appreciate any assistance.
I purchase movies from iTunes on my MacBook Pro. Which then syncs them to my iPhone 3G. I would like to watch them on my HDTV without purchasing an Apple TV.
I have been looking at getting the Apple Component AV Cable accessory, to connect my iPhone 3G directly to the HDTV.
Will this solution allow me to watch my iTunes movie purchases ( DRM Protected ) ?

Awesome thanks! All my movies are SD, don't think you can buy HD Movies without an Apple TV?

  • Displaying video using "Apple Composite AV Cable" to an in car DVD player

Has anyone had any success or knows of any in car dvds/screens that will enable you to display video from an iPhone/Touch. Im assuming we would need to use something similar to Apples "Apple Composite AV Cable". To be honest I really only want to show videos from my iPhone/touch... if the screens didn't have dvds I really would care..
    Thx

Your best bet would be to find a car head unit with either a composite or component input. From there you would just use the appropriate cable from the Apple Store.

  • Iphone w apple component AV cable video dark

  • Is there any way to extend the length of the Apple component AV cable for the original iPad?

I have an original iPad, but the component video cable is too short to really do any good. Can it somehow be extended. It would really be useful if there was an adapter for the 30-pin connector that goes into the iPad itself so that one wire could extend the AV cable another 10-15 feet. I know of no such adapter. Is there one out there?
My goal is to stream YouTube videos from my iPad to my Samsung HDTV. I guess I could buy an Apple TV and do it wirelessly through my Airport Expresses.
Anyway, I would appreciate some advice from anybody who has tried to accomplish the same or similar things.

Have you been able to get this cable to work on your iPad? I just went out and bought this cable so I could stream YouTube, Netflix and my other video on my iPad and the component cable wasn't working. I went back to my Apple store and replaced it with the composite video cable and everything works fine. I do not think that the component cable works with the original iPad because its output is not HD. Anyhow, you should be able to buy extender type cables at any Radio Shack, or any audio/video retailer. Look in the cables section. keep in mind you'll need both Audio cable and component video cable extended cables to increase the distance you are using these at. Keep in mind, also, that the iPad is basically useless while playing video. You can't multitask while watching the video because, depending on what apps you have that do video mirroring, you'll end up leaving the video and whatever app you're working in will show up on your TV screen. When I watch video I just leave my iPad close by the TV and walk up to it to play or pause video. Can't use it for anything else while the movie is playing, anyway. ;)

  • Huge problem using apple mail while sending email to a group...

Hey - I am quite confused... apple mail has huge problems using groups with about 150 addresses when writing and sending an email... the writing of emails is nearly impossible. Once the group name is inserted in the addressline (address book in iCloud!), apple mail uses nearly 100% CPU and further writing is nearly impossible. When sending such an email, all addresses are suddenly visible - though the box is NOT checked and the addresses should be hidden... what can I do? I use this feature (sending mails to groups) on a daily basis and cannot accept visible addresses...
Greetings and sorry for inconvenient english...
    Christof

How about next time you send to the group, cc yourself, or include yourself in the group. Then receive the email on the iphone, you can "reply all" in order to send to the group. If you use an imap account, you can make a new folder, call it something like "groups", and save different group emails there for the next time you need to "reply all".

  • Problem using Apple TV with TP-Link Wifi Extender

    Hi,
I have been having problems connecting my Macbook Pro to my Apple TV via airplay and I believe it is due to the new wifi extender that I have installed in my home. Basically, the wifi extender uses the powerlines in the walls to extend the connection from my office at one end of the house, to my living room at the other. I am sitting here with my Macbook Pro in front of the TV using Apple TV, both connected to the same wifi SSID but still no option to mirror or extend my desktop onto the Apple TV. Can anyone help? Please? This is also affecting my Homesharing. It's as if the wifi extender is actually technically a second wifi network and my devices are getting confused and not finding each other.

I have the same Activity set up for my Harmony One.  (First, I believe you mean "Devices," not "Components.")  You appear to have some of your buttons customized wrong for the Apple TV Activity, since you said other Activities work fine, like Watch TV, etc.  Within the Harmony software, go to the Activities (NOT Devices) tab, choose Watch Apple TV (or whatever you have named this activity), and then choose Customize Buttons.  Then click the Standard Buttons tab, and then go down the whole list (of dropdown menus) to assign, re-assign, or confirm that all the proper Commands are assigned to all the proper Devices.  For example, to correct your volume control issue, choose your Receiver to control the volume up and down Commands, etc.  If this is done correctly, you won't have to go to Devices (for the receiver) any more on your remote to control the volume. It will all be controlled within the remote's Activity function, as you've requested.  It has to work, since your other Activites are finding your receiver properly.  If not, then Logitech's Harmony support has been helpful to me in the past, assuming you're still in warranty, etc.  I hope this helps.  Good luck!

  • Using the Component AV Cable to Listen to Music Through the TV

I expect that this will be a simple Yes/No question but..
I have the Component AV Cable for my iPod Classic (120GB). It works fine for watching, videos and viewing photos, but is there any way for it to use the TV speakers to listen to music? If so, how?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Jamwllms.

I have 4 places where the red and white Audio cables could go:
The red and white audio slots for "Componant."
The red and white audio slots for "DVI"
The red and white slots for "AV In" (Typical yellow white red slots.)
The red and white slots in the SCART adaptor for "RGB"
Which of these four? I have previously tried all of them to no avail.
    Thanks,
    - Jamwllms.

  • Video quality erratic using Apple A/V cable

I just bought the Apple AV cable yesterday and tried connecting my 30 gig 5G to my tv. The audio was fine but the video was black and white, scrolling up and down the screen similar to having a VCR on channel 3 and the TV on channel 4. I then tried it again and it worked fine. Then tried again and back to the poor video signal. Has anyone else had this happen?

I answered my own question (this is my post after finding the answer in another thread). Hope this helps someone.
Woohoo! Thanks for the post- I have a 5G with the Apple A/V cable, but I couldn't get the video to work, just the audio on the tv. I didn't have "TV Output" selected "On." Now I don't have to return the product. Man, this 5G is amazing.
