Problems using "Generate Javadoc" option in JDeveloper 9.0.2.822

I am trying to generate Java Docs from JDeveloper. I selected "Generate Javadoc" option, which is under "Tools" menu option. After I select the required package & click OK, a command window opens but closes immediately. I am unable to generate Java Documentation for my packages using this option. What could be the problem ? Is there a workaround ?
Thanks !
Archana

Eliseo,
From your description it sounds like you have only set the properties for the Javadoc. To actually generate Javadoc, you need to select your project node, invoke the context menu and choose 'Generate Javadoc'.
Thanks,

  • Problems using third-party JDBC with JDeveloper

    Hi:
    I've tried to use an Informix's JDBC to access an Informix Online Workgroup v. 7.22 under Win NT 4.0, using JDeveloper. I tried Informix JDBC Driver V. 2.1 successfully with old-fashioned code using Connect, Statement and ResultSet objects, coding connections directly, but I couldn't define a connection so I can use wizards, 'cause I got an "Unable to find server: com.informix.jdbc.IfxDriver" error when I tried to test connection. I've probed this:
    * Create a library for Informix JDBC in my project. This step allowed me to make run my old-fashioned code.
    * When I created connection, I defined correct login, password and role parameters, then I selected "Other JDBC" on the JDBC Driver's combo, as classname I defined "com.informix.jdbc.IfxDriver" and as URL "jdbc:informix-sqli://127.0.0.1:1526/atlas:INFORMIXSERVER=produc_shm;".
    Classname I used is equals to classname I used in Class.forName method. URL use same format than DriverManager.getConnection method, adding pair user-password to it, and those parameters work ok coding connection directly using Connection method. By the other side, looking at Informix JDBC's Manual, it says Informix's JDBC supports connection using Datasource also.
    Which are steps I must follow?

    Hi,
    Unfortunately there was a regression bug around using the Generic JDBC connector to a Foreign Database in this Technology Preview (3). I'm not able to give you good news as I don't have a workaround for you either.
    You could use SQLDeveloper to connect to the database for live work, unfortunately that will not help if you wanted to create offline objects of some sort using JDeveloper.

  • Problem using SwfToolbar options in UFT 12.01

    We are trying to automate a .net based windows application. We are using UFT 12.01 with .NET ad in loaded
    We are having a problem using the swftoolbar options .  In our application all the right click menus are identified as swftoolbars and context menus
    This is the code we used to add a media item which gives rise to a  dialogue box in our application
    SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).Press "Add New Media"
    when we use “ .press” or “.select” operator for any option present in the right click menu, UFT hangs after performing the operation and we have to manually close the dialogue box every time it appears  in order to make UFT run again.
    We have also tried the following ways but can’t find a way to solve it
    Using select operator:
    SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).select "Add New Media"
    Getting the option in a variable and selecting it:
    Var1= SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).GetItem(0)
    SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).Press Var1
    We have also tried using descriptive programming but it didn’t worked out.
    We tried using the shortcuts for the right click menu options and it works perfect.
    Our application contains a lot of such type of right click options and context menu options, so we can’t rely on shortcuts for every option
    It would be a great help for us if u can give us a solution for this problem

    I'm just facing exactly the same issue - we try to migrate our .net application probes to UFT 12.01 - but the swfObjects are not recognized. Even if i try to start a new probe with this application, UFT does not start to recognize the Objects as swfObjects.
    Anybody knows how to get this fixed?

  • Problems using codeBase in policy file

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing problems using the codeBase option with the grant option in my .policy file.
    I want to start a 'manager' which has limited access to files. This manager starts workers (threads) who need complete access to... everything. I know I need to use the codebase identifier to separate those two groups of rights, but I don't seem to get the codebase right. The worker threads don't get any rights at all. The manager works fine (without any codebase definition).
    I've used full and relative pathnames, with and without '/-' or '/*'
    The file I use currently is (slightly truncated :), pathnames are package names:
    grant codeBase "file:com/response/timber/broker/*" {
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    grant {
    permission [..].FilePermission "manager.properties","read";
    permission [..].SocketPermission "localhost","connect,[..]";
    permission [..].FilePermission "com/[..]/jaxb.properties","read";
    According to the various examples on the Internet, it should work, but ofcourse it doesn't. Could the use of threat have any influence on the defined security?

    All I can say is I hope someone gives you
    (and indirectly me) the answer. I've got a
    serious problem granting special permissions
    in Sun ONE to a servlet and it's jars.
    One strange thing (to me), is that the format
    for the .policy file seems quite different between
    say Tomcat and Sun One. Things that work in Tomcat
    don't work for Sun ONE. But I thought the underlying
    vm et al was all the same! So did I... Why does
    this have to be so Opaque? Why different syntax
    platform to platform? Its all Java!

    After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
    My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.
    Do you have any ideas ?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Robin

    After debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
    In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Using javadoc ant task to generate Javadocs

    Hi all
    this may confuse you (probably because i'm fairly confused)
    i was asked to write a script that in a project that could be ran to generate javadocs using ant libraries (org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.Javadoc)
    Does anybody have any experience in doing this?
    I know most ide s will generate them auomatically but that isnt what is need - and can some1 explain where the build.xml ant file comes in?
    Thanks

    thanks both for your pointers.
    I got the build.xml files to generate the javadoc - but is it possibly to get the javadocs of multiple source folders to be created in the place i.e
    the current webapp is seperated into 4 project folders each with their own source code, their is a[b] masterbuild.xml which calls each individual build.xml. Current all this file contains is a 'build.all' target and a 'clean' target.
    Is it possible to generate the javadocs for the whole webapp from here into the same docs folder with each java file being referenced from the same index.html?

    I've problems using the jdk 1.4.0-beta 2 with JDeveloper 3.2.3.
    Used jdk 1.3.1 before, evertything worked correctly, accept a smal prob with the minimize- and maximize-icons of JInternalframe.
    Got mail that this would be solved with new jdk.
    But when i define new JDK in JDeveloper and try to compile i get the following message:
    Error: (0) initialization error: class Error const *: class file has wrong version 48.0, should be 45.3 or 46.0.
    If i compile the code from the commandline with javac myself it compiles correctly and the program runs fine.
    can anyone help??

    The problem you are having is that jdev doesn't support the new beta..I have the same problem and I am currently compiling and executing from the command line

    In order for OCI to work JDBC drivers have to be installed on
    your client machine i.e. the computer where Jdev is installed.
    In you installation pack there should be a CD with Oracle 8i
    client installation. Run the installer from that CD and choose
    JDBC drivers. That should help.

  • Generating JavaDoc returns with "illegal escape character"

    Hello,
    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.2.0.0.
    I'm trying to generate JavaDoc for a couple of my packages.
    The generator returns 2 errors due to "illegal escape character".
    This is the error message :
    C:\MyDocs\General Procs\Start_Java_Package\Portlets\src\PortletsUtils\Utils.java:65: illegal escape character

    ^
    The error is on the "à" and "ç".
    This special character is within a double quote, so it should be text for him.
    Compiling the package is no problem.
    What can I do so the generation of my javadoc continues ?
    Thanks a lot.

    I followed your instructions and it works
    I recently downloaded the production version of JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 10.1.3.1.0.3984

  • Problem using CORBA clients with RMI/EJB servers..!!!???

    Hi,
    I have a question on using EJB / or RMI servers with CORBA clients using
    RMI-IIOP transport, which in theory should work, but in practice has few
    glitches.
    Basically, I have implemented a very simple server, StockTreader, which
    looks up for a symbol and returns a 'Stock' object. In the first example, I
    simplified the 'Stock' object to be a mere java.lang.String, so that lookup
    would simply return the 'synbol'.
    Then I have implemented the above, as an RMI-IIOP server (case 1) and a
    CORBA server (case 2) with respective clients, and the pair of
    client-servers work fine as long as they are CORBA-to-CORBA and RMI-to-RMI.
    But the problem arises when I tried using the RMI server (via IIOP) with the
    CORBA client, when the client tries to narrow the object ref obtained from
    the naming service into the CORBA idl defined type (StockTrader) it ends up
    with a class cast exception.
    This is what I did to achieve the above results:
    [1] Define an RMI interface StockTrader.java (extending java.rmi.Remote)
    with the method,
    public String lookup( String symbol) throws RMIException;
    [2] Implement the StorckTrader interface (on a PortableRemoteObject derived
    class, to make it IIOP compliant), and then the server to register the stock
    trader with COS Naming service as follows:
    String homeName =....
    StockTraderImpl trader =new StockTraderImpl();
    System.out.println("binding obj <" homeName ">...");
    java.util.Hashtable ht =new java.util.Hashtable();
    ht.put("java.naming.factory.initial", args[2]);
    ht.put("java.naming.provider.url", args[3]);
    Context ctx =new InitialContext(ht);
    ctx.rebind(homeName, trader);
    [3] Generate the RMI-IIOP skeletons for the Implementation class,
    rmic -iiop stock.StockTraderImpl
    [4] generate the IDL for the RMI interface,
    rmic -idl stock.StockTraderImpl
    [5] Generate IDL stubs for the CORBA client,
    idlj -v -fclient -emitAll StockTraderImpl.idl
    [6] Write the client to use the IDL-defined stock trader,
    String serverName =args[0];
    String symList =args[1];
    StockClient client =new StockClient();
    System.out.println("init orb...");
    ORB orb =ORB.init(args, null);
    System.out.println("resolve init name service...");
    org.omg.CORBA.Object objRef
    =orb.resolve_initial_references("NameService");
    NamingContext naming =NamingContextHelper.narrow(objRef);
    ... define a naming component etc...
    org.omg.CORBA.Object obj =naming.resolve(...);
    System.out.println("narrow objRef: " obj.getClass() ": " +obj);
    StockTrader trader =StockTraderHelper.narrow(obj);
    [7] Compile all the classes using Java 1.2.2
    [8] start tnameserv (naming service), then the server to register the RMI
    server obj
    [9] Run the CORBA client, passing it the COSNaming service ref name (with
    which the server obj is registered)
    The CORBA client successfully finds the server obj ref in the naming
    service, the operation StockTraderHelper.narrow() fails in the segment
    below, with a class cast exception:
    org.omg.CORBA.Object obj =naming.resolve(...);
    StockTrader trader =StockTraderHelper.narrow(obj);
    The <obj> returned by naming service turns out to be of the type;
    class com.sun.rmi.iiop.CDRInputStream$1
    This is of the same type when stock trader object is registered in a CORBA
    server (as opposed to an RMI server), but works correctly with no casting
    excpetions..
    Any ideas / hints very welcome.
    thanks in advance,
    -hari

    On the contrary... all that is being said is that we needed to provide clearer examples/documentation in the 5.1.0 release. There will be no difference between the product as found in the service pack and the product found in the 5.1.1. That is, the only substantive will be that 5.1.1 will also
    include the examples.

    We currently publish an IDL example, even though the IDL programmingmodel in Java is completely non-functional, in anticipation of the support
    needs for uses who need to use IDL to talk to the Weblogic server,
    generically. This example illustrates the simplest connectivity; it does not
    address how
    to integrate CORBA and EJB, a broad topic, fraught with peril, imo. I'llnote in passing that, to my knowledge, none of the other vendors attempt
    this topic either, a point which is telling if all the less happy to hear.
    For the record then, what is missing from our distribution wrt RMI-IIOPare a RMI-IIOP example, an EJB-IIOP example, an EJB-C++. In this you are
    correct; better examples are forth coming.
    Still, I would not call our RMI-IIOP implementation fragile. I would saythat customers have an understandably hard time accepting that the IDL
    programming model is busted; busted in the sense that there are no C++
    libraries to support the EJB model, and busted in the sense that there is
    simply no
    support in Java for an IDL interface to an EJB. Weblogic has nothing to doit being busted, although we are trying to help our customers deal with it
    in productive ways.
    For the moment, what there is is a RMI (over IIOP) programming model, aninherently Java to Java programming model, and true to that, we accept and
    dispatch IIOP request into RMI server objects. The way I look at it is this:
    it's just a protocol, like HTTP, or JRMP; it's not IDL and it has
    practically nothing to do with CORBA.

    Please post request to the news group...
    As I said, you must separate the idl related classes (class files and
    java
    files) from the rmi classes... in the rmic step, you must set a newtarget
    (as you did), emit the java files into that directory (it's not clearyou
    did this), then remove all the rmi class files from the class path... ifyou
    need to compile more classes at that point, copy the java files to theidl
    directly is you must, but you can not share the types in any way.
    I fear that as soon as the call to narrow succeeds, the remainingapplication will fail to work correctly because it is too difficult otuse
    an idl client in java to work.

    Hi Eduardo,
    Thanks for the help. That is the way I compiled my CORBA client, by
    separating the IDL-generated stubs from the RMI ones, but still I
    get a
    CORBA.BAD_PARAM upon narrowing the client proxy to the interfacetype.
    Here's what I did;
    + Define the RMI interfaces, in this case a StockTrader interface.
    + Implement RMI interface by extendingjavax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject
    making
    it IIOP compliant
    + Implemnnt an RMI server, and compile using JDK1.2.2
    + use the RMI implementation to generate CORBA idl, using RMI-IIOPplugin
    utility rmic;
    rmic -idl -noValueMethods -always -d idl stock.StockTraderImpl
    + generate Java mappings to the IDL generated above, using RMI-IIOPplugin
    util,
    idlj -v -fclient -emitAll -tf src stocks\StockTrader.idl
    This creates source for the package stock and also
    org.omg.CORBA.*
    package, presumably IIOP type marshalling
    + compile all classes generated above using JDK1.2.2
    + Implement client (CORBA) using the classes generated above, NOTthe
    RMI
    proxies.
    + start RMI server, with stockTrader server obj
    + start tnameserv
    + start CORBA client
    Then the client errors when trying to narrow the obj ref from the
    naming
    service, into the CORBA IDL defined interface using,
    org.omg.CORBA.Object obj =naming.resolve(nn);
    StockTrader trader =StockTraderHelper.narrow(obj); // THIS
    ERRORS..!!!
    throwing a CORBA.BAD_PARAM exception.
    any ideas..?

    Hi,
    Can anyone please tell me the solution for this ?
    Actually I have used EDIT_MASK to rectify filter problem by passing conversion exit.
    But for those fields which are not having any conversion exit, the filter problem still exists.
    Please help on this. Thanks in advance.

    Make sure that you use the correct and the same encoding thoroughout the complete process.
    1) Save the propertiesfile with in that encoding. Even the most simplest texteditor (notepad) offers you an option list of charset encodings to be used during 'Save As'.
    2) Read values from the propertiesfile with that encoding. Use a Reader where you specify the encoding in the constructor. Otherwise either the platform's default encoding (e.g. CP1252 in Windows) or the API's default encoding (e.g. ISO 8859-1 in java.util.Properties) will be used.
    3) Display the values with that encoding. Specify the charset encoding in a <meta> tag in the HTML head.
