Problems using Siri to send text message
hi im having problems using Siri to send text messages on my iPhone 5.
When i try to send a message using Siri to somebody who does not own a iPhone Siri defaults the message to a iMessage instead of a standard text message, which then causes a message failure because the other person does not have a iPhone.
I have the setting turn on in the Messages setting to send as Text Message when iMessage is not avaliable but Siri still defaults the message to a iMessage and does not send it as a standard text message and results in a message failure.
am i doing something wrong or am i missing something?
Siri won't try to send an iMessage to a person who doesn't have a device with iMessage enabled.
If you open Messages, and select the same person with the keypad it should default to Text and not iMessage. That's exactly what will happen when Siri tries to send the message.
I just tried this on my phone to someone who doesn't have an iPhone and it worked exactly that way.

since i have updated to IOS 7.1 my phone no longer can make calls, connect using 3G or send text messages. has anyone else had this trouble? i've tried resetting the phone, but had no luck. i can recieve calls and texts, but cannot make calls, text or use the 3G.

is anyone else experiencing problems with (SMS) text messaging. Most all of my daily contacts dont receive my messages.
Make sure you have checked off iCloud contacts in your Contacts app under Groups in upper left corner.

I am having problems making calls and sending text messages and now getting my iphone activated.
I have a iPhone 4 and I had problems sending texts and making calls so I got a new one. I then gave my boyfriend my old iphone snd told him if he could get it to work he could have it. For some reason we are having problems getting it to activate. it wont let us make calles to verizon or anything on it. I do still have a warranty on the phone so would I be able to send it in and get a new one? or how does that work?

N73 - Cannot send text messages/Multimedia key not...
Sent my N73 into the shop to be fixed, and it came back with 2 problems. I cannot send text messages at all. I have heard that this can be solved with the sms accelerator, but I can find NO download link for the N73. I found another one and installed it onto my phone (version 1.0(0)) but the problem persists. ANy ideas or links to where the sms accelerator is for the N73?
The 2nd problem is the multimedia key is no longer programmable. I press the multimedia key, then select the down arrow (configure) I scroll down to any of the options right, left, top, center, bottom. When I press the center joystick I just am taken back to the multimedia screen. I am not given any choices to reprogram the keys....any ideas there???

Go to Solution.Often it's just a case of resetting the phone after it comes back from repairs if they've upgraded or simply reflashed the firmware for you.
Note that these operations will wipe your phone's internal memory so do a backup before proceeding.
First option: revert to factory defaults. Dial *#7780#.
Second option: soft reset. Dial *#7370#.
Third option: hard reset. Switch the phone off and do the following.
1) Press and hold the green "call", "3" and "*" buttons.
2) With those buttons pressed down, switch the phone on.
3) Keep pressing those 3 buttons and only release them once the phone shows signs of life such as the Nokia "hands" logo or the language selection screen.

As I bought my iPhone 5 (16GB,White) in the USA from Sprint, full price with tax, unlocked ,it was excepted to be a global phone. But now I come across with some problems in China using local carrier, everything is working properly except sending text message, and iMessage and Facetime also seem not to work.This is very serious for Apple and me! Will I have the chance to fix this?
I tried all the possible solutions from the Internet, and the Official solution offered by Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4459), but it doesn't seem to work.
Will Apple help me with this issue? Please do.The Sprint iPhone 5 is NOT unlocked. The SIM slot can only be unlocked by Sprint for Sprint customers in good standing.
How exactly, did you "unlock" the phone? There are known issues with SMS on foreign networks.
If the article you linked to did not fix it, you'll have to work with your carrier.
The bottom line is, you should not have purchased a Sprint phone with the intent of using it without Sprint service. -
Whenever I ask Siri to send a message to a contact, it will attempt to send it as an iMessage. This is a problem because it will attempt to send iMessages to contacts of mine which aren't even iPhone numbers. Is anyone else having this problem?
So, this is a problem because when Siri attempts to send iMessages to those without iPhones it, of course, fails.
For example, if I say to Siri, "Tell my mother 'Hello.'" It will try to send an iMessage. My mother has an Android phone, so the iMessage just gets lost in cyberspace.
I use Siri quite often, this problem only occured about two hours ago.
Can anyone help me with this?

ThomasI had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

Problem with sending text messages replies
After update to OS 3.0 I have problem with sending text messages:
- I CAN send new text message to someone but
- When someone REPLY me, then I CANNOT send next message in conversation
- If I DELETE someone's reply from that conversation text message sends fine.
Anyone have this problem? I have iPhone 3g with OS 3.0 update, previously on 2.x the problem didn't appear. Carrier Orange in Polandno my girlfriend, was useing my old N75, now she is useing her old phone last night and today. we have been texting with no problems at all. ..so i'm back in the iphone, and we're going to get her a new phone tonight,or she's going to use one of my other back-up phones till we get one for her. called at&t today to see if she could get an early upgrade before oct. just to make me happy with all the BS i've been through (10 hours or more on the phone trying to fix the problem). but at&t came through with their great customer satisfaction!!! NOT!!! so, gonna try and get her a good phone out of contract and see after hers and mine are up might just jump from at&t. very unhappy with them as how they handled this whole thing.

Do you have MMS turn on in Settings?
Are you provisioned by your carrier to use MMS?
Lastly, give your phone carrier a call, as MMS is a carrier feature. -
My wife and I both have iPhone 5s, I can't send text messages to non iPhone people that I use to but iPhone people I can, My wife can send text to non iPhone numbers. I have checked and we both have the same settings. Both of our phones are up to date 7.0.4.
The ability to see and send calendar invites is a function of the calendar you are subscribing to and who owns it. We need more information, like what calendar are you subscribing to? MS Exchange? Google? Mobile Me?

<Personal Information Edited By Host>I had the same problem. Kept getting message of waiting for activation or check network connections. I also tried every solution out there and nothing worked. This did though: I download the newest version of itunes (through Internet Explorer - Google Chrome wouldn't work). It pulled in my entire library thank goodness and then I plugged my iphone 4s into the computer. I let itunes find it, did a complete backup in icloud, then did a restore. Entire process took a couple of hours, but I now have imessage and facetime back. I was about ready to give up on Apple and go get a different phone ~

I can send text messages within Australia without difficulty but many of my international texts are not delivered. Has anyone had similiar problems.
SMS text messages are handled by your cellular carrier.

Anyone have a problem sending text messages being delivered after few minutes up to five minutes?
Has anyone have a problem sending text messages and the messages won't get delivered after few minutes? From time to time I would have this problem and it's annoying. I would expect someone to receive it by then and response to my text right away. But when I look up the text it hasn't been delivered and it's in the process. I would hear that the message get delivered after few minutes? What gives? I never had a problem with my iphone 4 i think? Now with iOS 5 it let's me know whether it is delivered or not. This new feature is awesome but disappointing when I know my text hasn't been delivered right away. I'm not sure if it's the software or my iphone 4s or my carrier? anyone suggestions? Thanks!!
I have the same problem when sending iMessages.. Wasnt sure if it was apple or Sprint? But it happens VERY often and I end up having to send it as a text message instead

I used to be able to send text messages to my email. It's now not working. It keeps coming in as a text. Is one of my settings off? Please help?
Verizon is not doing that it is the mail that is doing that.
Check your device settings for email and read the owners manual as to how to set up mail to download. How you want it, leave on server, etc.
